Property was nice staff was great. Upgrading to star class is a must. The food at the buffet is not good but the a la carte restaurants are good steakhouse by far the best. Website says they have a pool table but they do not. Drinks were really good especially at the lobby bar. I booked excursions from the guy at the beach a lot cheaper and the excursions were really good. Make sure you bring cash. I would definitely go back again

The pool was enjoyable. However, I did have a little issue w any food that I left in the room for later, was always removed and discarded. After being in the pool all day, you would want a little snack when u return to the room until dinner. The food that I had in the fridge was also discarded.

So we had tried to contact this location without much luck to confirm ocean view and accessible
Room. My Mom is very immobile. I had finally gotten through when I mentioned I wanted to add Star Class and was assured the request had been made only to arrive and find out that there were no such ocean view rooms that were accessible. I think they saw our predicament and moved quickly to help us out. Noelia, a manager came to speak to us, Justin was right there to take us to our rooms. Mom’s room ended up an accessible room but no ocean view. To compensate us on price difference. They provided us with cabanas for two days and we had superb service from all staff. The room was not properly restocked daily- towels, not enough snacks and drinks for 5 people - we would get one pack of peanut m&m’s. The food was terrible and the juices and sodas were diluted. There is no perk for booking star class- we never saw our butler and he made us dinner reservations for 9pm but we showed up when we wanted to eat and it was no problem

The star class wasn’t worth the extra expense (we’ve done it at other Royalton properties and it was worth it) and the food wasn’t great.

The country was beautiful and the Nexus excursion teams were fantastic. Would go back to Costa Rica but would not return to this property

Dear Planet Hollywood Management,

I am writing to formally express our disappointment regarding our recent stay at Planet Hollywood Cancun from February 12th through February 16th. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the reputation and standards your resort promotes.

On Thursday evening, February 12th, when we turned on the water while getting ready, a strong sewer odor came from the plumbing. The smell was overwhelming and very unpleasant.

On Friday, February 13th, we had no hot water when preparing for our evening dinner. Additionally, on two separate mornings when we ordered room service for breakfast, it took over an hour and a half for our food to arrive. This significantly disrupted our plans and was very frustrating.

On Saturday, February 14th, the sewer smell returned, and once again there was no hot water for our evening showers. To make matters worse, the power outlets in our room were not functioning properly, which meant I was unable to use styling tools. As a result, I had to attend dinner in wrinkled clothing due to not being able to properly prepare.

Each of these issues was reported to the front desk at the time they occurred. Despite reporting them, the problems either persisted or reoccurred. Additionally, our room did not have the fragrant room spray oil that other rooms in our group received, which added to the feeling that our accommodations were not maintained.

We had an exceptional stay at Planet Hollywood - Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. There is so much to say that it will be difficult to comment on it all, but I'd recommend upgrading to Star Class- it gave us access to different food options, an upgraded bar, an upgraded room, and Daniel, who was our Star Class Concierge. He arranged all our dinners, made reservations when needed, and ensured everything was perfect! The entertainment team has great energy! Antonio really made an effort to get to know our family, our names, and encouraged everyone to participate. The food was exceptional! Nothing but great things to say about our experience. Highly recommend!

Breakfast was dry and overcooked except for the omlet and crepe stations made to order fresh. The few restaurants we ate at were the same almost every meat was overcooked and tough. The rooms are great and offer a beautiful view of the water. The staff are friendly and always on top of everything/requests. Paola was THE BEST during our 5 days there and took very good care of all of our group of 9. The only issue(s) I had during our stay is my bracelet/key wouldn't work on 2 different occasions and I had to have security come let me in my room both nights and on separate night, I was in my room lying naked and they must have assigned my room to another party erroneously as a female guest walked into our room (when the TV turned on, there was another guests name on the TV, not mine). I did mention it to staff but there was no follow up. Several in our party did end up getting sick after eating the same food on the same day, but it's hard to tell if it was the food or the mix of food/alcohol (the food that night was not enjoyable). I would definitely be willing to try it a second time with my husband, but I think I would prefer to try another resort in another area and experience more of Costa Rica before trying PH again. Oh and the parties, shows, karaoke and club were a blast and we met so many new people from all over!

We visited Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for my sister’s 50th birthday. What an experience we had top notch service from everyone. Food at buffet was not the greatest but the hibachi and steak house were great from service to food. I would like to point out two of the staff that made our stay at planet Hollywood memorable. Gabby who made sure our stay and reservations were all taken care of she also had my sister room decorated along with dinner at hibachi that included a cake for her birthday. And last but not least Paola our fantastic bar tender who went above and beyond every day to take care of our party of 10. From drinks, food, music or a special request even on Paola birthday she made sure we were all having a great time. Thank you for making our time at Planet Hollywood a great and memorable vacation.

We were escorted in on the red carpet and literally treated like rockstars. We had Star class which I definitely recommend. We booked transfers and an excursion through the hotel. When we arrived we booked a spa treatment with Princess, it was great experience.

In general loved the property it gave cruise ship vibes on land. Lots of activities or peace and quiet, whatever you’re into.

This was our third trip to Planet Hollywood Costa Rica. Our stay was nice but not as good as stays in the past. The resort is beautiful and the ride from Liberia was easy. The customer service wasn’t bad just maybe not quite the same as the past. Kevin (John Wick) was our cabana service for the last two days and he was absolutely amazing!! Even though we were slightly disappointed we will return. Such a beautiful place.

It was our first time in Costa Rica and first time with PH. We will definitely return. Pools were great as well as the beach. The food was good, staff was amazing. Rooms, all in all were pretty clean. They came everyday to make the bed. Shower was clean. Mini fridge and coffee was stocked everyday as well. Very happy with this resort

Improvement: the food was subpar consistent with previous ratings, cost to us ended up being $200/ buffet breakfast/ per person. For an all inclusive place we could not get into their dinner restaurants to even try their food. We tried concierge, tried there app, staff gave us the run around. Pool side restaurant took 90 mins to serve us and burgers. Charges on activities were booked on wrong day by Sanchez. Overcharged us $95 for an activity others were being charged less.

Would never stay here again.

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The resort was beautiful, as was the views. I came with a group of 10 girls for a bachelorette. We were able to enjoy all the amenities offered. When we first arrived the room I was assigned to was not ready, the hotel staff was super accommodating and assigned us a premium room with ocean views. One of the joys of the hotel were the constant pool parties! We all had a blast. There were many accommodating staff. Special shout out to Jeffery (he was our waiter when we ate at the steak restaurant), Lewis (he was one of the bartenders at the pool - he makes amazing drinks and always added a special touch), Freddie (who brought smiles to our faces the first night we arrived and ate at the buffet), and Jedder (who brought so much entertainment during our pool days). It’s a place I would recommend to stay. Also, the staff that works at the excursion section at the hotel were top tier, I highly recommend booking through planet hotel for all excursions. It was an overall amazing experience!

We traveled as a party of 6 and had a wonderful week. Because we booked through Expedia, the resort seemed to place special significance on our reservation — we received Expedia wristbands & door hangers, which made us feel oddly VIP (maybe damage control given mixed reviews, but we felt well cared for). Don’t believe the haters — they truly aim to please.

Do the pre-check-in if possible. The app didn’t work for me, and the in-person process is long when you just want to start vacationing.

Had a hiccup at check in. Noella came over as we sorted it out and turned things around. She gave us her direct number, checked in frequently, comped us a cabana, and got us into every restaurant as desired. She is truly an angel and made sure a small glitch didn't turn into a big deal.

Restaurant food was excellent; buffet was hit or miss but had surprises — especially made-to-order items. Pro tip: bacon is only available by asking the omelet cooks. Dinner at the restaurants is the way to go, every meal our group ordered was delicious.

At the time of writing, this is the only resort in the bay, so the beach is not crowded. Kayaks and paddleboards require reservations and they have only 2 of each total.

Beach vendors were friendly, conversational, and respectful — never pushy. Lovely people. Love the Tico spirit.

Shout out to Emu for having those tequila shots always at the ready!

Great resort for day drinkers: fun daytime party vibe, quieter nights. DJs were meh.

While the room size and view were great, the room itself felt run-down and The drinks were mostly powdered juice, which was shocking considering Costa Rica has an abundance of fresh fruit. I had an amazing time at the Planet Hollywood Costa Rica. Every single staff member from check-in to check out, to buffet dining, fine dining, various bartenders, pool people. Everybody was friendly and welcoming, and always had a smile on their face. Best customer service I've seen in a long time. All of the food was delicious. The coffee shop amazing. The nightly shows were very entertaining. Shout outs: Jimmy pool bartender, Alexa 3rd floor bartender and Noha front desk person. I wish I can remember everybody's name, again all employees were wonderful. And the monkeys by the beach are super cute.

The room was in excellent condition, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable stay. My rating, however, reflects a few concerns. After booking, dinner reservations were made on my behalf without any prior consultation, and when I attempted to modify them, I was informed that changes were not possible—even though the alternative restaurant appeared to have walk-in availability. Additionally, I found the lunch and snack options to be underwhelming, and I was not particularly fond of the fragrances used throughout the lobby and other common areas.
Aside from these issues, the property offers a pleasant environment and a beautiful beach, making it a nice option for a short getaway.

Go on the eco walk in the morning to see the howler monkeys and some cool nature, it’s an easy walk on a straight dirt path ! Star class upgrade is worth it and I feel mandatory in order to enjoy everything around the resort. Always love Royalton hotels, the wildlife here was insane. I am more than happy with my stay and am so thankful for all the amazing staff that I will never forget !

The food choices were very limited. While they have multiple restaurants, it was impossible to secure reservations. I stayed 4 nights and was only secure 1 so I was limited to either the burger place or buffet for every meal. The meal choices themselves should be more varied and healthier. The layout of the hotel is also not the most convenient. Once you’re at the pool your only option is burgers and bar drinks. The drinks while tasty had very water downed alcohol. The staff worked hard in the heat but the level of service was 3 stars. Overall the overall hotel had a 3 star vibe. The hibachi restaurant was tasty and staff attentive but again my one restaurant experience. I would not recommend the hotel unless you’re on a budget.

We had an awesome butler assigned to us HENRY! We truly appreciated him from the first day until the day before we departed. Greddy over at Tex Mex was an exceptional server. So Cal: All staff we interacted with were really nice and helpful. Alfonso was the BEST bartender/drink mixer we came across during our entire stay. Caesar (mgr) very interactive with patrons in SoCal. Our room was always top notch. Sadly, we never had the opportunity to meet the person that maintained the room. Overall, the all staff was great. Don’t have any complaints about any of them.

SHOWS: They were really nice and entertaining for all ages. Just the right amount of time for this activity.

CONS: I do not have many BUT there is so much air filtering through the water lines that the shower/sink shuts the water off until it builds up again. That was very annoying and frustrating on a day to day basis.

FOOD TEMPERATURE: I have a big issue with eating food that is not up to temperature; especially, when the restaurant just opens for service. All food received that is prepared hot should be hot. Not lukewarm or almost cold. This really needs to be worked on in ALL restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay and would return to this property.

An Unforgettable Stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica!

Our experience at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the moment we checked in, we were treated with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. We received a beautiful upgrade that made our stay even more special, and every single member of the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The managers here are truly top-notch — you can tell they take pride in what they do and that they genuinely care about the guest experience.

My wife and I normally aren’t fans of all-inclusive resorts, but this property completely changed our minds. The quality of the food was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and varied with something for everyone. Every restaurant offered a different vibe, and we were impressed by the attention to detail and the level of service everywhere we went.

The property itself is stunning, surrounded by beautiful nature and offering spectacular views of the ocean and the mountains. It’s perfectly maintained and easy to get around. We were originally planning to stay at the Andaz or the Four Seasons, but we’re so happy we chose Planet Hollywood. It’s in the same gorgeous area and delivers an experience that rivals those luxury brands, but with a fun, laid-back energy that makes it feel even more special.

Overall, this resort exceeded every expectation. Great people, excellent management, and a classy atmosphere. We highly recommend

The cleaning staff for our room was amazing! They was in our room twice a day, once in the morning and turn down service at night. I highly recommend getting
Concierge service, ours took care of all of our reservations for dinner, booked all our excursions, took care of our transportation back to the airport. We never had to worry about anything! If we needed anything at all, all we had to do is text him and it was taken care of! Highly recommend staying at this hotel. The only thing that we had an issue with was the shower water was cold, we was there in October, which is during their raining season, so a hot shower would have been nice. I’m sure during the summer, and chilly shower is wonderful, but not in rainy weather. Other than that no complaints. The staff was very helpful and friendly! Hotel is very clean!

I enjoyed my time at Planet Hollywood and would definitely return! There was not a lot of options outside of the resort unless you booked an excursion through the hotel but if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing resort this is the place and family friendly. I enjoyed the staff and the accommodations.

Stay here only if you like having your money stollen. We booked two tours through Nexus at the resort, the “friendly” nexus worker convinced us to cancel our volcano tour and book a more expensive tour to Nicaragua. This was a TERRIBLE mistake. The day trip was 10 hours in a van with the most rude tour guides who didn’t say a word to us. You then got to see a few sights that you were rushed through. None of this was disclosed upon booking. We were then promised by the agent we would be refunded for our volcano tour prior to leaving the resort. It is now over a MONTH later and we still do not have our refund of almost $500. After contacting nexus and the resort numerous times no one can give us a resolution. So thanks planet Hollywood for facilitating theft and terrible service.

On the plus side the resort was very pretty and clean, but this issue wrecked our enjoyment of the property.

I had an amazing stay at Planet Hollywood Royalton Resort! I received a free upgrade to an ocean view room for my birthday, which made the trip extra special.

The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were very friendly and informative, sharing all the details about the resort and its amenities. The room was spotless, modern, and beautifully updated.

There was daily entertainment at the pool and fun activities every night, which made the stay lively and enjoyable. The only downside was the alcohol at the pool, which wasn’t as good as the drinks served in the lobby and restaurants — those were excellent!

The food was delicious and freshly prepared each day, with plenty of great options. Overall, I highly recommend this resort and would definitely visit again!

My experience at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica was very disappointing.
On my first night, my room wasn’t properly prepared—neither the AC nor the fan were working. Maintenance had to come fix it, which caused me to miss dinner with my family. Later in the stay, a fight broke out in the club. I tried calling security, but no one answered. I eventually had to call the hotel directly because no one was picking up the phone.

Overall, I did not have a great experience. I spoke to management and was told the issues would be addressed, but the lack of follow-through left me even more dissatisfied.

This resort was nice! VIP treatment as soon as you walk in. Even more vip treatment if you book through Expedia! Very clean, very modern and updated. Beds are very comfortable. Shower is its own room with a bench! The buffet area had tons to choose from and the restaurants were great too, but you have to book early. The only down side was waiting for a shuttle to get to the pool and lobby, and if you order room service make sure your food is fully cooked! I would definitely stay again!

This is an absolutely beautiful place with breathtaking views all over. The staff es very attentive and polite, they go above and beyond to make feel welcome and comfortable. The food and drinks are good. The room is amazing, super big and comfortable. We reserved a private room at the SunSet restaurant for my birthday and it was awesome! Delicious food and the staff it’s just great. This is by far one of the best stays we’ve had. A great experience and we will definitely come back. Thank you Planet Hollywood for making our time so special.
