About 45 minute drive from the airport. Security at this hotel is really tough. When we pulled up, they wouldn't let us on the property, and our reservations were not showing up. Finally, when we got in, the check-in process was chaotic. They didn't have all our reservations, and we had a hard time getting into our rooms. There is no vibe in this hotel, and it is really low-key. If you want relaxing then you will be ok. If you want an upbeat place, then it is not for you. Getting a reservation at their restaurants is a nightmare, as you have to download an app. You must take carts since it is on a steep incline, and you usually have to wait for one. In the morning and evenings, the wait is over 15 minutes. The food was not an issue. Costa Rica is amazing, but this place is very average. Their Nexus Tours got one of us excursions wrong and took us to the wrong waterfall, which cost more and took longer to get to than quoted. All we got was a Sorry for all of this. Would not stay here or recommend it.

Property was attractive and well maintained. The food was good, but making reservations was impossible. Even with butler service, reservations were unavailable. The shuttle service needs improvements. The resort is very hilly, and shuttles are slow at peak times. The entertainment leaves a little to be desired. Overall, a great stay. We visited with 3 other family members and their spouses. There were no children in our party. The adult beverages were mostly just okay. I’m a “lightweight” and never had the slightest buzz after day drinking. Lastly, we had the junior suite. The fridge had basic drinks, the resort should consider some in suite snacks or snacks to go for pool area and late night snacks.

The entire hotel is well designed with attention to details. Welcoming new guests with clap and drinks is a very nice touch!
There are at least 6 bars. My favorite is the coffee shop Fuel. The staff is amazing. From servers to the entertainment team to the night shows’ team to the lobby folks. All were very pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel 👍

The hotel itself was nice. The AC and shower were 10/10! It definitely helped after long, hot days by the pool or after excursions. The Star Class had its own pool which was nice and less crowded, and had its own 'lounge' in the main building for drinks and snacks. The pool area was ok but since it was the only one, it was always very crowded. The biggest issues were with the restaurants. There were 9 restaurants on property, but unless you made reservations the first day, you most likely weren't getting in to any of them. And while they were there, most didn't open until dinner, so for breakfast and lunch, you only had 2-3 options. The food itself was fine. There were definitely some bright spots (spring rolls at East Sushi!), most of it was just eh. It was probably best just to get pool food or bar food because at least then you know what you were getting. Housekeeping was hit and miss. We often (almost daily) had to call them for towels or soap even if the room was cleaned. The beach was also not the best. The sand was cool (black sand), but the beach was small and to get from the resort to the beach, you had to walk thru a gauntlet of VERY PUSHY nonresort vendors trying to sell you something. The Star Class beach chairs were also set up RIGHT beside them, so they also didn't leave you alone if you were sitting there. Overall, I was happy with the stay, especially since it was our first time in CR, but would probably try another resort next time.

We stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica for six days during the first week of June 2026, and our experience was outstanding from start to finish.

The resort is beautiful, the food was excellent, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay. Every interaction was warm, professional, and genuine.

We would especially like to recognize Christian, “The Godfather,” and Diana, “Wonder Woman,” for making our vacation truly memorable. Their exceptional service, positive attitudes, and attention to detail made a lasting impression on us. They are a tremendous asset to the resort.

Thank you to the entire Planet Hollywood team for an amazing vacation. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

This is not the best planet hollywood. The buildings are so spaced out that you need a shuttle to go from your room to the buildings where the food is or to the pool. The food is not that great and some of the staff are not that friendly. I would not visit this resort again. overall rating is 4/10.

The buffet was amazing. We found that the restaurants were difficult to get a reservations for even trying shortly after we checked into the hotel. We had difficulty getting the app to work for us which is fair given the location and availability of WiFi. There are vendors around the beach area and they do take every opportunity to try and sell. Overall it is a nice property with great amenities.

Let me start by saying the property itself wasn’t bad. However I must say that I’ve been to many all inclusive resorts at many different countries and the service ambiance is usually very happy and contagious. At Planet Hollywood it seams that some of your service staff feel like they are being inconvenienced by the guests and your bar tenders are not very happy and helpful and that is the reason why they lose so many tips and lack customers communication. Your adult bar should be just that and not allow little one to be there . These are just some of my observations.

One bad thing was that the restaurants we wanted were already booked up and we couldn’t go to them. Otherwise everything was fantastic, room had amazing views and the Foam party was a highlight. Honest review for Planet Hollywood Costa Rica I would give this resort a 7/10 overall. This was a solo trip for me, and I stayed with the Star Class package. Honestly, I do think Star Class was kind of worth it because all I had to do was text my butler and tell him what I wanted to do for the day or during my stay, and he made it happen immediately. My helper was Ariel, and I absolutely loved him! We even had the same birthday 😭. I booked an excursion last minute, and he handled it right away with no issues. He also got me $50 off at the spa, which I appreciated.

The reason I gave the resort a 7/10 is because, in my opinion, an all-inclusive resort should already include premium top-shelf liquor for everyone. I don’t think guests should have to pay extra or book Star Class just to get premium drinks and better service. That part should come standard throughout the resort.

One thing I did love was that Ariel booked my restaurant reservations every day, which made everything stress-free. The Five Guys burgers there were so good, and the buffet was honestly amazing. I also loved the bartenders they were making me special drinks the whole trip, and I was definitely feeling good 😭. They were friendly, fun, and added to the experience.

As for the restaurants:

* Gusto was a solid 7/10.
* The steakhouse was honestly a 4/10 for me. My steak came out rare when I requested medium rare, and the mac and cheese plus the spinach were not good at all.

Resort was well-maintained and the common areas were very clean. I wouldn't recommend the beach as it's a small area and filled with trees. The food overall wasn't bad, but the buffet got repetitive and could have used a little more variety. Individual restaurants are the best option for dinners, though I do feel that paper menus vs. QR codes are preferable. I'm not a fan of trying to zoom on my phone to read a menu.

They get you set up with the app for maps and reservations, but it is difficult to navigate and the maps are very confusing. I also found many discrepancies with the activity schedule and often had to check the local boards to get the up-to-date information on daily activities and evening show.

While I do feel that the Star plan was worth the extra cost just for the private pool area alone, I also think that more thought should go into the Green Room (always empty and very little to offer) as well as the information you get from the Concierge/Butler. I would get reminders about my daily restaurant reservation, but more often than not, they were incorrect about the time of my reservation, which really confused me. Our Concierge/Butler greeted us after check-in and we asked for several items to start our trip, but never heard about them again and ultimately had to fend for ourselves.

We loved our experience at Planet Hollywood.The welcome and staff were unvelievable. We felt like we were special at all times. Through reading reviews, we decided to upgrade to STAR level and it was a fantastic decision. The butler and honestly everyone else were there for anything we could want. The resort is not that spread out and walking was easy - at least from our builing. There are shuttles that run constantly and will pick you up within minutes. The resort is hilly so riding makes sense depending upon where your building is. The Eco tour was great and we learned so much, but even more than that it was entertaining.

The full day excursion to the rainforest waterfall and hot springs was great. It was a long day due to the distance, but it didn't feel bad because we drove a bit, had an excursion and then repeated the process. It was not rushed at all. I do recommend bringing a credit card and some cash for tips, drinks, and souveniers. Also, you are given a towel at the hot springs but not at the waterfall so if you desire to swim, bring a towel.

I will certainly go back.

Pool was nice, clean and drinks were delicious. My only complaint was the food. It isnt the best just like any other all-inclusive. The Guys restaurant by the pool had a good chicken sandwich, burgers were ok. My wife liked the coffee shop...cheesecake was pretty good there also. Entertainment was good everynight.

The only problem was when we went off the property we were charged a ridiculous price to go NEXT door to the restaurant $170 literally five minutes away. My stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica was absolutely amazing. I arrived early due to my flight, and although my room wasn’t ready until 3 PM, the receptionist didn’t charge anything extra and gave me full access to all amenities and restaurants right away.

The all-inclusive package was definitely worth it. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee spots, so it never felt repetitive. The food was excellent with lots of variety, and the drinks were always high quality.

All the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The resort is beautiful, with a unique black sand beach. I had an ocean view room, and the views were breathtaking. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with water, soft drinks, wine, and beer.

I especially loved the Hollywood-themed setup and the autographed movie collections—it added a fun and unique touch.

The tour desk was very helpful and booked a great catamaran trip for me. I also appreciated not feeling pressured about tipping.

Even though I booked late for reserved restaurants, the staff helped me get in. There were also plenty of free activities and amazing night entertainment.

Special thanks to Emilio, David, Daiana, and Karina for making my stay even more memorable.

Overall, a fantastic experience that I highly recommend.

Gabriela concierge went beyond our expectations and made my wife’s Birthday a success.Swim up bar employees are top notch. Texmex restaurant delicious (Luis Carlos and Randal) went above and beyond. Small resort compare to others but made it for a more welcoming vibes. You cannot walk anywhere since its a bit remote on a mountain. We did an excortion using hotel booking team. All day round trip and guide included. Ohh, forgot the Asian food restaurant is a big 10!!!

I was disappointed in the replenishment of drinks and snacks in our room…the last day we had no face clothes replaced and the hotel lotion bottle not replaced. All Star Goes to Staff and their Effort. I had all along a very good stay but 2 times had almost horrible experiences.

1. there is no onsite taxi service and the onsite tour service nexus tours were not really very coordinated.
2. Food at the italian place was sent all burnt. food at the mexican restruant was delayed for like 40 mins. there was a clear discrimination for people like me.

the condition where they dont have any taxi or onsite shuttle almost could have cost me few grands of USD to loose my flight and stranded. I felt if i would have had a medical emergency then Planet Hollywood didn't have anyone on call or "star class" member benefit had nothing. something to be mindful if planning to book a stay here.

My fiance and I recently stayed at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica and overall had a great experience, especially with the Star Class service. While the housekeeping could have been better—there were a few inconsistencies with room cleanliness, mainly our bathroom & shower walls and restocking the in-room coffee with pods.

What truly stood out was the Star Class butler/concierge service. Henry, our butler, was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of—from reservations to special requests—and was always attentive, responsive, and genuinely kind. His level of service really elevated our entire trip and made us feel taken care of every step of the way.
The resort itself is nice and friendly staff, good food options, and a fun atmosphere.

Special thank you to Henry for making our stay unforgettable—I would definitely return because of service like his!

The breakfast buffet had many choices, both made to order and ready made. The rooms were very spacious, with the toilet, double sinks and shower all located separately. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning in the bathroom areas.
The service in the restaurants and bars were great.
The pools were on the small side considering the size of the property and the water in the pools was very warm.
We stayed as a group of 4 for 3 nights and had a great time. Booking the restaurants through the online booking App was difficult.

We have traveled to many South American and Caribbean destinations through Expedia, but our stay at Planet Hollywood Costa Rica has been one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.

From the very beginning, even the check-in experience was smooth and welcoming. The gentleman who checked us in was friendly, professional, and made us feel comfortable right away—setting the tone for a wonderful stay.

I want to especially recognize Neolia Veron, who truly went above and beyond for us. As strict vegetarians, we often struggle while traveling, but she made sure we had plenty of options. She personally coordinated with different restaurant managers and handled our reservations so that our dietary needs were always taken care of. Her attention and care made a huge difference in our stay.

A heartfelt thank you to Alina, who was driving the golf cart around the property. My wife is pregnant, and Alina noticed that and didn’t hesitate to help—she carried almost 50 lbs of luggage herself and made sure we were comfortable throughout. That level of kindness and care is something we will never forget.

We also want to appreciate Christopher, the manager at the Tex-Mex restaurant, who made special arrangements for our dinner to accommodate our vegetarian preferences. The food and service were excellent.

I’m sure I’m forgetting many names, but honestly, every single staff member we interacted with was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It truly feels like a place where employees

Butler service was disappointing and should be avoided. Excursions (especially snorkeling) were oversold and underwhelming. Some staff (Edu, Dylan and Diane) were great but others didn’t really provide a five star experience or understand top class service. Lovely black sand beach and fun pool with cabanas and mixology…. TV service jumpy… too many electrical issues like lights and elevators. Still a great place and lots of fun but would not return.

My husband and I went with 3 other couples and 2 adult children for a week of birthday celebrations. 6 of us had Star level and the other 4 had regular accommodations. I would definitely recommend the Star level. Since we were a fairly large group and the majority were Star level our butler arranged for everyone to be together for meals in the Star restaurants. I can't say enough good things about our butler, Steven, he really went out of his way to be helpful and make our stay enjoyable even though he had to take on another staff members workload when that person called in sick. Steven made sure we all had what we needed and arranged a special Wine Cellar experience for our last night complete with birthday cake and champagne. At extra cost of course but it was well worth it.
All of the staff made us feel welcome except the person checking us in on or arrival. He seemed like he did not really enjoy his job and was pretty hit or miss on giving us information. One group was told different versions of what to expect than the other and we were not given the welcome drink that the non-star level folks were. The Star restaurants were all quite good but the basic level food offerings were underwhelming. Buffets were standard fare and acceptable. Guy's Burger Joint was not at all good. Lunch offerings were limited and not at all what one would expect for the prices we paid. We had two meals in the sports bar, the fish and chips were great the first time but not the second time.

Property was nice staff was great. Upgrading to star class is a must. The food at the buffet is not good but the a la carte restaurants are good steakhouse by far the best. Website says they have a pool table but they do not. Drinks were really good especially at the lobby bar. I booked excursions from the guy at the beach a lot cheaper and the excursions were really good. Make sure you bring cash. I would definitely go back again

The pool was enjoyable. However, I did have a little issue w any food that I left in the room for later, was always removed and discarded. After being in the pool all day, you would want a little snack when u return to the room until dinner. The food that I had in the fridge was also discarded.

So we had tried to contact this location without much luck to confirm ocean view and accessible
Room. My Mom is very immobile. I had finally gotten through when I mentioned I wanted to add Star Class and was assured the request had been made only to arrive and find out that there were no such ocean view rooms that were accessible. I think they saw our predicament and moved quickly to help us out. Noelia, a manager came to speak to us, Justin was right there to take us to our rooms. Mom’s room ended up an accessible room but no ocean view. To compensate us on price difference. They provided us with cabanas for two days and we had superb service from all staff. The room was not properly restocked daily- towels, not enough snacks and drinks for 5 people - we would get one pack of peanut m&m’s. The food was terrible and the juices and sodas were diluted. There is no perk for booking star class- we never saw our butler and he made us dinner reservations for 9pm but we showed up when we wanted to eat and it was no problem

The star class wasn’t worth the extra expense (we’ve done it at other Royalton properties and it was worth it) and the food wasn’t great.

The country was beautiful and the Nexus excursion teams were fantastic. Would go back to Costa Rica but would not return to this property

Dear Planet Hollywood Management,

I am writing to formally express our disappointment regarding our recent stay at Planet Hollywood Cancun from February 12th through February 16th. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the reputation and standards your resort promotes.

On Thursday evening, February 12th, when we turned on the water while getting ready, a strong sewer odor came from the plumbing. The smell was overwhelming and very unpleasant.

On Friday, February 13th, we had no hot water when preparing for our evening dinner. Additionally, on two separate mornings when we ordered room service for breakfast, it took over an hour and a half for our food to arrive. This significantly disrupted our plans and was very frustrating.

On Saturday, February 14th, the sewer smell returned, and once again there was no hot water for our evening showers. To make matters worse, the power outlets in our room were not functioning properly, which meant I was unable to use styling tools. As a result, I had to attend dinner in wrinkled clothing due to not being able to properly prepare.

Each of these issues was reported to the front desk at the time they occurred. Despite reporting them, the problems either persisted or reoccurred. Additionally, our room did not have the fragrant room spray oil that other rooms in our group received, which added to the feeling that our accommodations were not maintained.

We had an exceptional stay at Planet Hollywood - Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. There is so much to say that it will be difficult to comment on it all, but I'd recommend upgrading to Star Class- it gave us access to different food options, an upgraded bar, an upgraded room, and Daniel, who was our Star Class Concierge. He arranged all our dinners, made reservations when needed, and ensured everything was perfect! The entertainment team has great energy! Antonio really made an effort to get to know our family, our names, and encouraged everyone to participate. The food was exceptional! Nothing but great things to say about our experience. Highly recommend!
