The apto was spacious but the furniture was disgustingly old! The e couch had stays and wholes on it. It was so disgusting we did not had the courage to use it. The cleaning was bellow acceptable.The bathroom had what looked like urine on the floor. The unit smell of cigarette. No wiifi and the garage could barely fit a small car. Only stayed because could not find another hotel to go but would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

Communication on arrival was poor. Reception closed before I arrived although calling in advance to see if I could get early check in. No instructions or information provided regarding lift instructions as one lift did not have levels labelled and no information on check out time etc. The apartment interior was very old and unclean and the smoking from other apartments around was terrible.

Pros: our 3 bedroom apartment was very large and beds very comfortable. Location was great. We walked everywhere and close to station. Nice bars close by.

Cons: showers, glasses and cups were filthy and dishwasher didn’t work properly.

Reception only open very limited hours each day.

Wifi didn’t work the entire weekend. Sliding door to balcony didn’t shut properly/lock.

Newcastle Family Weekend Away

This stay was very disappointing.

Upon arrival to the room, the room smelt old, stale and musty. We had to have the balcony door open the entire stay.

The kitchen smelt foul only to find mouldy bread and bananas in one of the cupboards. We ordered Thai for dinner to only find one fall in the cutlery draw of a 3 bedroom apartment.

The carpet was pulling up, the lounge was in seriously poor condition and felt sticky.

The main bathroom roof was rotting away and falling in.

Positives are close to light rail.

This was apartment 46.

For the price we will not stay again.

The staff, when you got onto them, were fabulous!
The linen was clean.

Had I known that this was a privately owned apartment in the hotel, I would have gone else where.
Investment properties need to be invested in.
The carpets were dirty (my child's socks were black), the carpet was warn, crumpled in parts making it a health hazard.
The lounge was all shiny/grease like from use. The wardrobes didn't look clean do didn't use them.
The furniture was cheap, but they claim to be a four star.
The kitchen was so so. The kettle was black on the inside.

Reception, meant to be manned 9am - 6pm but close early. No restaurant on site
The property in very uninviting...

Check in was not easy as they emailed that the reception was open until 6pm and on arrival at 4pm it was closed. The room was dusty and there is evidence of leaky shower in the main bedroom. I also believe they have overcharged me, I am still following up on this as it was booked last financial year, but this is an extra expense I was not prepared for. There was only a frypan and no pots for cooking and dishwasher was not working

The bed was comfortable and the whole unit was very clean and resourced well with equipment, toiletries and washing powder both for sink, dishwasher and washing machine.
Reception was great and easy.
I would have to say that parking can be a bit tricky in a bigger car. Besides that, it is an awesome place to stay.

This property is in an area of Newcastle that is being renewed but is still a bit old and tired. It is only a 5 minute walk to the Transport Interchange where you can take the tram all the way to Newcastle Beach. Buses run along Hunter Street on a regular basis. The Marketown shopping centre is only a 10 minute walk with both Coles and Woolworths, amongst other shops. Hunter Street is very noisy - both traffic and people noise coming and going from local pubs and clubs. The apartment we stayed in was really good. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, laundry room, full kitchen, large balcony and big living/dining area. There is air conditioning and ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Unfortunately the WiFi wasn't working when we were there and we weren't informed of this when we arrived. I only found out when I went down to ask about it. Accessing the underground parking is a bit tricky when you first arrive because you have to go into reception to get the keycard for entry but there is very limited parking in front of the building. We had to do a few laps of the block before we could park and go into the building. Most of the decent restaurants are a good 15-20 minutes walk away. There were only 2 forks in the kitchen though there were lots of knives, spoons and plates.
The fridge also needed a good wipe down on the inside.
Overall, we would stay here again.

I am at a loss as to where to start this email. I have to say this has been one of my worst experiences staying in apartment accommodation anywhere.

Our first apartment absolutely reeked of urine and was revolting, nothing like your photos you advertise. The lovely receptionist did swap us to a different apartment shortly before he left for the day, only for us to discover that the Air conditioning doesn’t work, runs for 10 mins then we get an error and it shuts down, the television only has one channel, foxtel not even connected although control proudly presented on the coffee table. Toilets in both bathrooms don’t flush properly and no one to report any of this to.
Don’t even get me started on the fact that we couldn’t even park our car in our allocated parking spot as there just wasn’t enough room, and there is absolutely no way it accommodates disabled parking, I have had to park on the street all night. The two disabled parks were obstructed by vehicles without disability permits when I looked.

I had booked your apartment in good faith that the photos were representative of what I was purchasing.

I hope you attempt to improve your accommodation venue for future guests.

On how much they charge per night is not worth it. Musky smell when you enter the apartment. Shower head needs replacement. Heaps of stain in the carpet. Dryer not working. Poor wifi connection. Dont trust the door closer, it doest close the door properly. Make sure you pull or push it in order to lock it properly. The only thing positive are it is spacious and close to everything. It needs renovation.

Our 2 night stay in a 3 bedroom unit was very disappointing, the unit is in desperate need of renovating and the cleanliness was lacking. The carpet is worn and stained, with what appears to be vomit stains in a number of spots. We saw lots of cockroaches. The one bed lamp in the main bedroom had the shade masking taped together. Lighting throughout the unit was dim. The ensuite bathroom shower base was rusted and mouldy. The door to the balcony shook like there was a cyclone outside (& it wasn’t that windy). The kettle had a burnt ring around the bottom of it, the toaster had lots of crumbs in it. The parking space is extremely tight (but at least there was parking provided). The unit was a great size but the condition really made it disappointing. There are supermarkets close by but we didn’t really want to cook in the apartment as we didn’t trust the cleanliness.

Apartment needs renovation lots of unfinished jobs such as the towel rails not in the bathroom no toilet roll holder, no curtains in the bedrooms they are very light at night, couldn’t open the balcony door. On arrival in the room first thing I noticed was how dirty the glass was on the inside and the fridge door was disgusting, one of the rooms the door is all cracked. When we went to get a second pillow out of the cupboard it was so dirty and dusty it was unusable. The carpet in the rooms is disgusting lots of stains and on the balcony was someone’s shoes, a cigarette lighter and it was very dirty, only seen through the door as we couldn’t open it. There were 4 of us but only enough lounge seating for 3 of us. The air conditioner doesn’t seem to work properly the rooms were cold. I won’t be staying here again.

We had young children so getting to and from the car was a big issue with the pram and lots of luggage. Stairs everywhere and no easy access even to reception. The car park was too tight trying to lift kids in and out of the car doors without hitting walls or other cars. The rooms front doors all slammed shut so was disturbing for our baby as our neighbours came and went. We also had to drive laps around the block while somebody was able to check in and get a car park key...no where to park while we waited

Our property had vomit on the verandah, the room had drink splashes on skirting, carpets were badly stained, tile floors very sticky. When we asked for room to be cleaned we were told to leave if we didn't like it. Being Xmas Eve this was not a real option as their was not other accommodation available. The manager was extremely rude and repeatedly told us if we didn't like it to leave. We explained this was not really an option on Xmas Eve with 6 adults to try to accommodate. We were given a vacuum cleaner and cleaning cloths and spray to clean the property ourselves which included cleaning up the vomit. We were given a $200 reimbursement for cleaning the property. We stayed 4 days and the rooms were not serviced at all during our stay, we had to buy our own dishwashing tablets and garbage bags, wash towels ourselves and make beds. This was property was supposed to be 4.5 star rating, we were very disappointed and felt that we could not approach the manager during our stay or he would tell us to leave.

When we booked it said king size bed, free wifi in the rooms and the photos showed beautiful rooms.
It was a double bed. Wifi would not connect.
Only 1 window to outside. Balcony was locked and blocked in by a cage and brick wall of the building next door. No natural light or air. Very dark and dingy apartment.
Parking was very tight. Any big cars stuck out.
Not worth the money paid! Very disappointed.
We just stayed overnight for a wedding.

Limited street parking to check in. Car park is extremely tight. A $200 hold on my credit card was taken even though I had pre paid. No complimentary milk in fridge. Dirty outdoor furniture on balcony. Broken furniture. Went to pull blinds down and cords broke on two of them. Ripped leather upholstery on dining chairs. Lamp shade fell apart when someone tried to turn it on. Booked a 2 bedroom for 4 people and there were only 3 cups. Hunter St in Newcastle West at night is extremely noisy. All in all, quite disappointed.

The car park was very hard to park our rental car - it was a very awkward space the only way was to reverse in and you needed to be a reversing expert which I am not so it took about 5 attempts just to park the car

A wall has been built on the adjoining property about 6 inches away from this property and it extends to the 4th floor. The window in the lounge now looks out to this wall so a mural had been painted on the window. Felt like we were in a box. No balcony - although one was shown in the images.
Was clean and comfortable but not what we were expecting.

Overall a disappointing stay, no one at reception on arrival, nor would answer phone, this was during check in times, no apology when someone finally turned up, room was neat but not clean, carpark is not good for large cars, bed was super uncomfortable, bathroom tiny and shower head was broken, overall was pretty annoyed for the price of the room.

A lovely place to stay

Having a medical appointment we decided to stay at the Plaza as we had stayed there before when it was the Grand Macure. Our apartment was everything we expected. Ben who we spoke to on the ph, even gave us an upgrade to a lovely 3 bedroom. The beds were a bit firmer than we would have liked. But apart from that it was a wonderful place to stay. I can highly recommend it for families wanting a great accommodation. We will be back 😊
