To start I’m no hotel snob, but this property definitely needs a deep clean and renovation. I’m unsure if other parts of the hotel are better and that’s why the reviews differentiate or what. When we stepped in the elevator, there were some sort of brown, wet, sticky stains on the floor. My room had a hole in the wall, dirty stained walls, floors weren’t clean, broken tile in the bathroom and hair in the tub. The TVs picture looked like I was watching tv from the early 90s. The beds were okay and thank goodness they were clean. The front desk guy was nice. We didn’t eat breakfast there.

This is the first time we ever booked at this hotel. The room condition was not to our liking. The room had a musty smell, candy papers on the floor, bugs on the floor, mold on the shower curtain, the toilet back was cracked, and the worst was curly hairs on the night stand. We did not stay and went to another hotel.

First of all, I am property manager in North Carolina with several decades of experience. I was pretty disappointed in our accommodations.
1) Excessive trash laying around the property including more than a 100 cigarette butts piled into a 5 gallon bucket at one of the side entry doors. This condition was present on Monday through today without any cleaning. I observed a guest laundry room that had trash on the floor including a cup playing on its side
2) Security risk with a non-locking door on the Harper roadside of the building. It was card access but the door would not shut completely.
3) There is a severe trip hazard on the front entrance of the building close to one of the columns.
4) The pool was dirty. The outside of the pool floor was slime and represented a slip hazard where somebody could lose their footing and bring bang their head into the side wall of the pool. The pool had a good many bugs laying on the surface water. Because I never saw any pool maintenance, it was apparent that they weren't testing the water for bacteria. The concrete deck around the indoor part of the pool needed to be bleached and pressure washed.
5) At the coffee dispenser area, there were sugar packets that were damp. The attendant told me that they came that way on the truck due to a leaking refrigeration system.
6) The grounds look like they were abandoned as there are numerous weeds growing through all of the round stone areas surrounding the building.

We checked in at night and ready to get some rest. One bed had candy smashed on the sheets, ants crawling on the beds and the bathroom was dirty with other people hair. My husband and child got bitten by the ants. We moved rooms and it was bad too. The bathroom door was broken. There was Cheetos in our air vent. Ants crawling on the beds and tables. I wanted to cry it was so bad.

The first suite we checked into was missing a TV. The carpet was torn and shredded in a large spot. Since there was no one on staff to do maintenance, we were transferred to another room. That room was much nicer with newer carpeting, except the TV in the sitting room did not work. The pool area seemed like it had not been cleaned and the women’s bathroom in the pool area was terrible. We debated simply leaving and finding nicer accommodations. We did not.
The breakfast was very good.

A solid hotel with friendly staff that is unfortunately showing its age. That said, the room was clean, the breakfast was very good and the staff was helpful. Pleasant front desk staff. The moment we walked into the room, we knew it wasn’t clean. The first impression was a very stained couch. The room was very dingy and old. Moldy corners in bathroom and stained shower curtain. Not the fault of the housekeepers, it’s just what they have to work with.

Don’t let the “nice” lobby fool you…if I could give zero stars, I would. This hotel is vastly overpriced for the conditions. The only positive was the breakfast.

The Rooms:
Our first floor room was a nightmare. We were instantly hit with a horrific smell masked by a scent plug. The room felt incredibly moist; both the carpet and couch were literally wet. It was filthy, with splatters on picture frames and used tissues left under the table. The bathroom floorboards were rusted out, fire sprinklers were missing casings, and the windows were bolted shut.

The Pool Area:
The indoor/outdoor pool sounds nice but is a safety hazard. The room smelled heavily of mold and the lights constantly flickered. Both hot tubs are permanently covered over with wooden decks. The pool edges were broken, the stairs were dangerously slippery (multiple guests complained), and the indoor deck was covered in water-filled \"bubbles\" that squished when walked on.

Service & Staff:
Due to the horrific smell, we asked to switch rooms. The front desk agreed to handle it midday while we were out, but completely forgot. When we finally switched, the second room was slightly better (windows weren't bolted), but it still smelled. To top it off, our keycards deactivated around checkout time (11/12A) almost every single day. We had to go down and get them remade constantly, and the front desk just shrugged it off saying everyone deals with it pretty much.

I would not recommend this hotel. Needs MAJOR updates.

This was by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in, and I'm someone who regularly stays at 2- and 3-star hotels while driving to Florida two or three times a year.

I arrived very late at night with my children and our dog, so finding another place to stay wasn't a realistic option. Unfortunately, the experience turned into a nightmare.

There was ketchup under the beds, and all of the bed linens had various stains. We had booked a suite specifically so we could use the sofa bed, but the couch cushions were covered in large stains. When we opened the sofa bed, it was even worse than we expected. The mattress was extremely dirty, and it appeared that a dog or another animal had chewed through parts of it, leaving it torn and damaged.

We managed to sleep for only about three hours before deciding to leave because the room was simply too unsanitary to stay in.

The rest of the property was no better. The hallways were dirty and heavily stained, and there was water all over the floors, likely tracked in by guests using the indoor pool. The overall atmosphere was also concerning. There were groups of people smoking around the building, and cigarette butts were scattered everywhere outside.

I have stayed in many budget hotels over the years, but I have never encountered anything in such poor condition. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I've had.

The staff was exceptional. They were doing the best they could to keep up. Hotel was near sold out and it was obviously understaffed.
Grime everywhere, crumbs in carpet, broken floor tiles in bathroom, large stains on furniture and bedding. We moved a chair to play cards and there were hair products under it that had definitely been there for months, given all of the dust/hair/dirt on them.
There were teenage girls (approximately 14-15 years old) working... running towels and blankets to rooms, not safe. There was mold in the pool area bathrooms. The elevator had splatter and stains in it and smelled like a dirty diaper.
Breakfast was hot and fresh, but very crowded. The self serve layout causes confusion and chaos. The two ladies working were crushing it, and were still mistreated by most of the guests.
We had a room booked for our return trip home a week later, and canceled it before checking out. But.... were charged anyways. That charge will be disputed. Overall, VERY disappointed.

When we went down to tell them, we received no apology. We were just told someone would come up to fix it. We asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere and the assistant manager said he did not have authorization and that the general manager would have to process the refund the next day. We received no update the following day. Horrible experience.

I want to start by saying the staff here were wonderful—incredibly friendly, helpful, and they didn’t hesitate or question us at all when we asked to change rooms. However, the property itself was honestly really gross. When we walked into our first room, the beds looked like they had been laid on and never cleaned. The thermostat heat was set to 72°F, but the air felt incredibly hot and sticky. Even after moving rooms, the cleanliness didn't improve much; the couch was gross and the chairs were covered in unknown substances. The team working here deserves five stars for their customer service, but management seriously needs to address the housekeeping and maintenance issues.

I requested a non smoking suite, the whole section of hotel smelled like weed and cigarettes. Overall it was just dirty. I had the trip protection from Expedia but that meant nothing, I filed the claim and didn’t get my money back. Overall we stayed for about 1-1.5 hours before checking out and going next door to the holiday inn. I lost over $150 booking this hotel. It was a huge disappointment because the pictures looked so nice and the entrance of the hotel is also nice. Everything is very dated, there is a sign that notes this specific hotel is not owned by the corporation but actually privately owned so I’m going to go out on a limb here and blame the owners for the disaster. The staff Gary was super nice though, he did offer to change rooms but there was just no sense in changing rooms when the mind had already been made up.

Parking is sometimes impossible to find a spot except very far away. The rooms are never clean. We have stayed here several times now and only come back because we have a hard time finding anywhere else that will take our dogs. However, this last time made us decide we would rather sleep in our car than to stay at this hotel again. They need to take time to deep clean the rooms every so often because the walls and trim is thick with grime. The comforters have been stained. Half the lights never work. The bathrooms are often without toilet paper and don’t appear to get cleaned between guests. This most recent trip I found old food under one of the couches.

They reset your hotel key every night so have to have it reactivated every night and some of the front desk staff were kind of rude and they need to keep up on pool area keeping floor clean and towels stocked but good hotel overall

Property was ok. Lot of noise from other rooms and hallway, at night. Sounded like a fight going on. I did let the desk clerk know of the sleep disturbances.
