The pool was outside and the water was a green color. I didn’t see anyone swimming in it and we did not either. I would give this location a C-

One piece of furniture housing the fridge and microwave needs some repair. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean but it all needs to be updated. Nothing felt “crisp”. Complimentary breakfast was less than satisfactory. We would not stay there again.

Front desk was super nice, esp for our very late arrival. I read the reviews here before booking and saw so many comments about the cleanliness. Let me say this hotel is very dated; musty smelling; the door to the room had 1/2\" space from frame after closing; the A/C was cold but very loud; and the tub faucet was pulling off the wall.

Everything was fine, except for the lady who was rude at the breakfast area because she wanted to close it down even though it was still supposed to be open. She really did just about everything possible to run people out of there and hated to be bothered with a question or request for a condiment. There was no meat, but the scrambled eggs were OK. Don’t bother trying to order a dinner to be delivered from the steakhouse right there in the parking lot because after I tried calling three different times, they hung up on me each time. You figure if they charge about $40 for a steak dinner at minimum they could at least take your order but I guess they can’t be bothered either.So if you order food in be ready for typical chain restaurant, fast food, pizza, and pizza.

My wife and I recently stayed at your property during our first visit to West Virginia, and unfortunately the condition of the room fell far short of what we expected for a $300+ stay.
When we checked in, we found:
Mold in the bathroom
Mismatched sink handles that both turned the same direction
Visibly filthy walls with peeling wallpaper
Pillows stained a dark brown shade, clearly not clean
Only one working elevator, which was constantly backed up
Non-functioning ice machines on our floor
I’ve attached photos documenting these issues. Had this been a budget property, I might have lowered my expectations, but at this price point, we expected a clean, well-maintained room at minimum.
Given these conditions, I’m requesting a full refund for our stay. We’d appreciate a prompt response, and I’m happy to provide any additional information needed to process this.

It appears the hotel is undergoing much-needed renovations. Property appears worn and in need of TLC. Room was mostly clean, bathroom could have used more attention as hair was present in tub and sink upon checkin. Bathroom also had paint peeling and falling from ceiling, as well as a very loose towel hook on the wall.
Breakfast was the smallest I have ever seen at a Hampton Inn and was limited in both selection and stock at 7:30. Staff were helpful and courteous. Lobby and elevator area in desperate need to paint. Of many Hampton Inn stays in various locations, I can say this is the worst location I have experienced overall.

Room was clean as were the towels. We just felt this Hampton Inn needs a ‘refresh’ as paint was peeling off in the bathroom as well as the wall paper bubbling (room 417). Dings in the door…we believe it is an older Hampton…needs a refresh for sure. Breakfast was very good as the touch of ‘gift bag’with 2 bottles of water and in the morning complimentary cookies! Staff was friendly and helpful ( put our cooler freezer packs into a freezer ready for us in the morning for our next leg of our trip!)

Very disappointed in the quality of the property. Try to stay at Hampton/Hilton when I travel and this was the worst Hampton that I've stayed at. Damaged furniture, outdated finishes, and dirty painted surfaces. No ventilation in the bathroom. Will not stay at this Hampton again even though I travel through the area several times a year.

The gentleman who waited on us to check in & out wasn’t friendly. He was difficult to hear because he spoke softly. He did not offer a receipt at check out. The Window blind in room was broken. When retracting, it appeared to be broken on the left side. There was no wall thermostat in the room - only holes where it should have been. A channel guide would be helpful for the tv.

This is an Old Dump, paid for 50 years ago yet they soak you for this terrible road side room . Hell it was like a kennel there were so many dogs . Dog pissed in elevator . Lovely .Bath tub , with no water spout, dog scratches in the tub , I guess a dog had it before us .Room was worn and nasty , chair was broken , chair was worn and torn . One elevator was malfunctioning, the breakfast was crap, dingy little area , I refused to even try to get some food or eat there. This is an 80.00 room and they soaked us 240 cdn . So the reviews are absolutely a scam , this was the highest rated hotel in Beckley according to your reviews . I cant trust Expedia anymore for leading me to this dump. Disgusting !!

The room was amazing! Impeccably cleaned, no worn spot or corners needing paint. Blinds worked, etc. Staff we met were very friendly and helpful but not excessively so. Hampton Inn is our preferred place to stay, so glad we could add this hotel to our list of outstanding locations. Our only complaint is with what Hampton Inn provides for breakfast. It is always the same thing. Thankfully there was oatmeal and yogurt. We'd like to see HI offer more variety in breakfast protein options, as well as more variety in fresh fruit. This has nothing to do with the Beckley location, however.

The room was cramped, dingy and outdated. The pull-out sofa bed was extremely small and uncomfortable. This hotel is very overpriced for the condition it’s in. Needs a major renovation to justify the cost. Would not recommend staying here.

The hotel is run down. Chipped paint, stains on the ceiling, ripped material on the couch, torn up rug…it needs a lot of work. The staff was polite but not friendly or warm. Breakfast is top notch. Their beds are made so stupidly with the duvet cover wrapped with the top sheet so you don’t have a separate top sheet. Idiotic. Water pressure was fine and the beds were ok. Probably the worst Hampton Inn I’ve stayed in in terms of the quality of the upkeep of the hotel.

Digital key kept saying that they were preparing our room. When I finally checked at the desk they said “oh” and then proceeded to give me actual key cards. When I asked if the digital keys were not working, they said “you can try it again if you want”. I did, and it worked.
Mattresses are getting worn out on the lamp side of the bed. It appears they do not rotate them as the other side of the letters is still nice and firm. They must be slowly changing them out because our room in July did not have this problem.
Also, they should note that the pool is closed for the season (and repairs according to the maintenance guy).
The entire hotel is pet friendly according to the front desk, contrary to one online source that said only specific rooms were pet friendly. Limited areas to take your pet to the bathroom. What was available was covered in trash.

The lobby area is very small and poorly designed compared to newer competitors' properties. The breakfast was ok, but had fewer eating options compared to what other hotels offer.
The ugly: The deluxe room was twice the cost of a similar room in a nearby newer competitor's hotel (total of $120/night vs. the Hampton Inn's $230/night). The competitor's hotel had fewer potential frills, but had a larger lobby and breakfast area. Overall, the Hampton Inn had a disappointing lower value (cost compared to comfort). I would use the lower priced, newer hotel if I am visiting the area again.
In summary, the relatively high room cost and lower condition of the facility were disappointing. This Hampton Inn provided a stay much less satisfying than expected from a Hilton Hotel property.
