We recently stayed at Radisson Blu Astrid Hotel Antwerp and overall had a really great experience. The location is excellent—super convenient for getting around—and the room itself was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Everything from check-in to the facilities met our expectations.
However, there was one interaction that left a slightly sour note. When I approached reception to ask for a recommendation on where to have mussels (as it’s something Belgium is well known for), the staff member directed me to a Chinese restaurant instead. I found this response a bit surprising and, if I’m honest, it didn’t sit quite right with me.
I may be overthinking it, but it would have been more helpful (and appropriate) to be recommended a local Belgian spot, especially when specifically asking for a traditional dish.
That aside, the rest of our stay was lovely, and the hotel itself is a great base for exploring Antwerp.

The views from the front of this hotel are exceptional, not getting around that. The hotel is starting to feel a little tired in quite a few places and needs some modernising.
Having an indoor pool was really good but the rest of the facilities are a bit worn out.
We walk everywhere and the area directly outside the hotel isn’t very pleasant with a lot of locals riding mopeds on the paths and some lower class shops but as soon as you’ve got to the city boundary 200 meters away everything changes and Antwerp is a lovely city.
We’d return to Antwerp but unfortunately not this hotel.

What we did not like were the pillows (too soft) and the fact that it did not have any complimentary water in the room, a “businnes class” room.

Pre-stay: emailed twice to ask about flowers in the room for my wife, as it was our 30th wedding anniversary; no reply, no flowers.
No directions for parking, which is barely signposted. Car park is very tight.
Check in queue was about 20-25 minutes. No organisation. Checked details for breakfast, leisure facilities, etc. and asked for confirmation that there are bathrobes in the room to wear to the pool.
Went to room and my wife wanted to take a bath, but the bath tub was dirty. I called reception to ask for someone to come and clean it. Decided we might as well go to the pool and sauna whilst waiting ... no bathrobes. I called reception again, no reply so I went down and queued again to ask for some to be provided. After about 1.5 hours we gave up on going to the pool and I was about to go and lose my rag with reception when someone turned up with bathrobes. They had not been told, but I asked them to clean the bathtub which they did immediately, and replaced one of our towels without being asked. This was the only instance of good service during our stay.
The bed & pillows were comfortable for us, but no alternative pillows had they not been so. Only one chair, which was very uncomfortable to sit on.
Communal areas, esp. the lifts were not very clean.
Breakfast was mediocre at best (worst ever in a 4* hotel). Head waiter kept tapping his watch at us after 10am and is lucky I didn't punch him.

Mediocre at best. This hotel is run down and needs a refurbish. Decor is very outdated, walls are dingy. Stains on curtains and carpets. Paint peeling everywhere. Walls are thin and you can clearly hear people in the next room. The bathroom the sink had a huge crack, very little water pressure and water kept changing temperature from scalding to freezing with no adjustment by us. Restaurant closed and taps for draft beer not working in bar. Sketchy people loitering around hotel entrance. Very few decent dining options close by.

This hotel is in front of the beautiful train station in Antwerp. It is perfect if you are arriving or leaving by the central train station. The view of the train station at night from the hotel is magnificent. It is an architectural gem.

Disappointed with room view
This is our 4th stay in this hotel. The rooms are lovely and big. However, despite booking the junior suite with city view and paying for that, we were given a room overlooking an alleyway, instead of the glorious views of the main square which our children love and were looking forward to. We were told the hotel was fully booked and they couldn’t move us. We contacted the hotel a few days before our visit to make sure we are getting the room we paid for and no one responded to the emails. It is a shame really, because the hotel is lovely, but I feel on this occasion they have misrepresented the room and we were left with disappointed kids

It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The was large and clean with a kitchenette, dining table, medium sized fridge, cookware, cutkery and dishes enough to be able to eat in the hotel room. There was a pul out sofa as well as a large bedroom. The bed in the bedroom was quite comfortable and the pillows were good as well. The only slight complaints that I would have is that the curtains don't completely block out the light and that you can softly hear traffic in the morning, however, given its proximity to the central station and downtown it was quite quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel at a reasonable price.

We had an apartment room for our family visit, two (young) children and two adults. The floor was incredibly dirty, all edges of the rooms were also dirty, skirting boards, walls, etc. The air con hardly worked so the room was between 22 and 23 degrees for the whole stay. The fridge was broken. The hairdryer was broken. Numerous bulbs in the lights were broken. Overall I'm incredibly unimpressed with the room. Breakfast is well over €20 each, kids half price. I understand that food costs quite a bit, but over €60 per day to eat breakfast is just ridiculous!
The positives are that it's close to the train station and close to the zoo. Walking to the historic centre of Antwerp is easily achieved in under 15 minutes.

Room and bathroom were very spacious, compared to many hotel rooms in urban centers in Europe which tend to be cramped. This was a welcome exception. Many attractions and shops are within easy walking distance of the hotel and the central train station is only 5 minutes away on foot. Very clean, wifi was fast and reliable. Minor annoyances: there's a spot in the closet where the fridge used to be and it would be nice to have one in the room. Lastly, an interior door to an adjoining room let noise in from that room. Other than those things, we were very satisfied. Very good value for the money!

The parking is convenient and secure. The room was great and spacious. We did receive a special amenity of free parking which helped. Chinatown right next door with great food as is the Train Station and lots of eateries which were a bit too touristy. We didn't plan out our meals well as one was closed after we walked about a mile away. We did see the windmills in Netherlands which is a close drive away. Antwerp is a beautiful city.

Whilst the hotel is convenient to the train station if travelling Europe by rail we did get a beautiful view of Central Station which is a beautiful building that would be the only highlight. They offer tea and coffee but no milk for the tea you can use the creamer in the room was advice. If you offer tea offer the little long life milk. The hotel is situated in the shopping area if that’s why you are here in Antwerp it will suit you. If you are here for the old town the hotel is at least 20- 25 minutes walk to see the historical area and the water.

Checked into the first apartment which was full of hair , dust and stains on the floor . Complained to the receptionist and we were given another room which was worst ! There were all sorts of used tissues , some sticky stuff and a used packet of condom under the bed , curtains were hanging off the rail , Tv in bedroom was broken which meant I was left without one which wasn’t a problem to me because my kids had one in the front room . The bathroom was disgusting, really nasty floors , brown stains etc . It’s the section time visiting this hotel and the first time was very clean which got me thinking if it’s because we changed from a room to an apartment ?? But Yh come with your bleach and be ready to clean and spray before using the apartments. Younise at the reception was helpful and wanted to change my appartment again which I just couldn’t be bothered after viewing the room . This hotel needs to have a word with the cleaners and management
