Hotel was within walkable distance of the town centre. Staff friendly and food good. Bed very comfortable. There is a sky bar but this is just a bar on the top floor with a view over the river. It has a limited selection of drinks - there is a greater selection of drinks in the bar attached to the restaurant downstairs.
Although the spa and pool are open every day, the pool is closed to residents for classes at certain times. Also while we stayed there, our room was not serviced. Probably just an oversight. As we were only staying 2 nights, it didn’t matter but had I been staying longer it would have been a problem

It was on the whole very good with convenient restaurants, pool, spa. Breakfast is however vastly overpriced so we opted out which causes inconvenience in an otherwise restful stay. We opted for a riverview but you have to go over to the window to see it- wished I hadnt paid extra!

Van der Valk upgraded my standard room on day one without asking only to downgrade me and switch my rooms for day two after I came to complain about my room key not working because “I didn’t pay for an executive room for the second day”. This experience completely ruined my mood and the staff missed out on an opportunity to address my complaint in an adequate manner.

Comfortable and clean room - we had a treble room which is basically a suite with whirlpool bath & kitchenette. Plenty of space in the room. As with most hotels wardrobe & storage space is limited for longer stays. We were there for a week.
The restaurant and bar staff were exceptional even when the bar area was crowded.
Reception staff were also helpful & quickly resolved a slight issue checking out.

Horrible. After showering there was a lot water in our room... it did not go away. When we complained they were not nice at all... the guy that claimed to be the hotel manager just apologized after 15 minutes

It was a wonderful stay, even in the midst of a major storm. When the power went out, the staff quickly came to assist with getting the power back on. The location is quite central. The fitness center was comprehensive and had nice views onto the Meuse/Maas. The pool is not an Olympic-sized one, but great for relaxation and water fitness. A return visit is likely.

Really good hotel for a city trip stay. Location is perfect. Free parking and just a 15 min walk from the city centre. Staff is friendly. Hotel is very clean and tidy. Don't forget to vist the bar at the 10th floor.

Super friendly staff, beautiful hotel and professional housekeeping staff that kept the rooms looking great. Very impressed with the housekeeping staffs attention to detail, example even the microfiber was cleaned perfectly with a design pattern everywhere you looked in the room and public spaces. Another pleasant surprise was the Sky Bar, great service and very reasonable prices. Everyone working at the hotel spoke perfect English which I appreciated. The Pool & Spa area was a nice bonus and included in the room rate. Note that Lounge Chair seating next to the pool is limited however. It appears that they have a nice outdoor terrace for the summer time however. We would absolutely stay again the next time we're in Liege.

Bad service and attitude at reception
The booking condition states free onsite parking. However the hotel ended up charging €15 per day and insisted the parking garage right underneath hotel building with hotel’s name at entrance was not onsite. The receptionist in the morning initially agreed to offer free but only for one day and denied the offer in the afternoon. While the ‘free inside parking’ area that hotel stated was more than full with a few cars waiting to get a space..

In general it was a good experience, The room was smelling, not really understood what but I think it was something that they’re using to clean the room. The staff from the reception was very friendly and very helpful! The staff /waitress from the restaurant was a disaster we went for dinner and we had to wait more than one hour and a half for the food!

We stayed at the hotel to visit family living in Liege. The hotel is ok overall, definitely popular apparent in the crowd. But the crowd made it also somewhat unsettling at a time of Covid with many people (customers) not wearing masks and with limited social distancing. we found the service very slow, likely the results of being crowded, but it was not good to wait for two hours to get a room service and having to cancel it as the food still had not arrived at 11pm. It generally took time to get the attention of the waiters at the restaurant. In the room itself, there was limited amount of toiletries for two people and the pillows in the bed were extremely soft for comfortable sleep.

Had a wonderful stay here, feeling that they are handling covid well. Unfortunately I got home and they had made an additional $145 charge on my account! I wrote them and they said it was a mistake and issued a refund - but only temporarily. Days later I have not been able to get them to issue a refund. MISTAKES involving unauthorized, extra charges that are NOT fixed is called STEALING!

Modern, recently refurbished room. I was at a conference who had been at this hotel in 2014, and many people commented on the improvements. My room was large, and I had a very nice river view (my colleagues were on the other side of the hotel). Both sides were mostly quiet, although I had some noise from late night disco functions in the convention centre - but it was not too bad.

The staff was not friendly at check in or throughout our stay. The restaurant often forgot about our table and then mischarged us with a neighbor’s order. When we asked for recommendations for food, they gave us an area to walk to (not actual restaurants). We walked to the area and found nothing. They also only gave us one key cards even though both of us checked in. Finally, it took multiple calls to the front desk to talk to someone. The room and location was not worth the price.

Inside the hotel itself was lovely, though unfortunately, not the outside which felt a bit neglected. I was nervous of leaving my car overnight as the car park was a little rough around the edges and there was broken glass that looked to be from a broken car window. There was an underground car park that I would definitely not have felt safe leaving my car in! This unfortunately let the hotel down as inside it was absolutely lovely, great room, friendly staff, nice restaurant, but the constant nag of worry about the car let it down.

Chose this hotel solely based on the fact it had onsite parking, but the hotel staff failed to warn me about the on going problem with drug addicts breaking into cars in the hotel car park, causing damage to cars and theft of property.
I had my car broken into, 2 windows smashed and most of the property in the car stolen, I had to then drive my car to the local police station to leave it there overnight, this was a very upsetting and costly experience.

Stayed for a single night for a business trio but had brought my wife along with me for a change. Hotel was clean and easy to find right in the middle of the shopping area. Had a great breakfast in the morning.
The room was very nice and clean with a large bed and good shower. The WiFi was quick for a hotel to the point we streamed a movie in the late evening through my Mac plugged into there large screen TV as the HDMI ports were but working and accessible I just wish more hotels allowed this. I do carry a HDMI cable as have had to use this for presentations in the past.

Security concern.... Room door left wide open....
Found our room door widely open with light on... had gone out around 10.00 and return 23.30 so just cant think of how long this had been, with our passports and laptops left in the room.... The hotel denied they had a security issue... with the manager unwilling to even come to speak to us when we asked how they addressed the issue to ensure that others customers do not experience this.

Le repas n'est jamais venu et l'hôtel veut une preuve de ce que j'avance alors que la cuisine prétend ne jamais avoir reçu la commande, la réception avait promis / juré de régler cette affaire.
