Great location and staff but room needs work

On balance, disappointing. Positives: great location for my visit to opera (less than a minute away); good, fair price; friendly, helpful staff; room decent size with good desk (always a plus). Negatives: lingering bad smell in room, carpets really need replacing, the 'double bed' were 2 singles badly put together, not locked together so by the time I woke up, one of the single had completely detached itself from the other, so essentially you sleep in a single. Bed sheets were clean but seen better days.

Equipe de réception et de petit-déjeuner extrêmement pro et accueillante. J'ai adoré le petit déjeuner très varié et bien tenu (l'un de mes meilleurs petits-déjeuners en ibis, il y avait même des concombres et des tomates). La chambre 518 était spacieuse, bien agencée et avec une vue dégagée. En revanche je vous conseille de demander une chambre de l'autre côté avec des fenêtres qui s'ouvrent. Comme le stipule la description, il n'y a pas d'air conditionné (mais un ventilateur), cependant pour la température comme pour l'aération il est agréable de pouvoir ouvrir.

Room was small, carpet was filthy.
The bed was uncomfortable there were two thin, unsecured single mattress toppers which moved apart through the night leaving an uncomfortable gap. The pillows were poor quality. Room was hot, window opened, but couldn't leave it open as it gave access to the room via the fire escape. The whole building was tired and tatty. €2.50 for hot water for a drink is totally unreasonable.
The stay was not worth the money.

The entire area around the hotel is under construction and terrible for walking. The windows do not open, and it is impossible to turn down the heat in the rooms. We had to leave our room door open and run an old, battered fan in hopes of drawing some of the air from the hallway into the space. The breakfast buffet is good.

It is good for the price, but you get what you pay for. The location was convenient, it was centrally located, but very busy and crowded. The staff was very nice and accommodating and gave great recommendations for things to do and dining. The room was small but comfortable. It did get warm and the fan that was provided did not help much. Parking is not free. You have to park around the corner in an underground garage. It is very tight and hard to maneuver in or out of it. Parking cost is €10 for 24 hrs with hotel stamp.

Motorbike touring holiday

Booked this hotel specifically as they offered parking which was important for us traveling on 4 motorbikes.... We needed only 1 parking spot but were told motorbikes were not allowed and we had to go to a car park some minutes away which cost us €15 PER MOTORBIKE, despite us taking up 1 parking space...... What started out as a great value hotel truned out to cost us significantly more!

Worst thing was, the hotel parking lot held around 200 parking sapces and during our time there only about 50 were occupied!!!!!

Great location and lovely staff, but the hotel is a bit tired. Good size room and comfortable bed, but windows didn't open and no aircon, so rather stuffy - used the portable fan. Refurb bathroom has shower over rather high sided bath. Hotel is fine for a couple of nights.

It's in the middle of the centre, everything is close.
The rooms are very small, but thats not the rason why we came, it's not a hotel where you go for the stay, you will be outside all day in Liege. We came back specialy for the placing of the hotel for the christmass market.

Room vas extremely hot with no fresh air available. The bottom door of the bathroom was rotted and not been care after. The carpet in the walk way were full of dirty spot.
Hotel did not offer any more the carpark discount at the Opera car park, no notice of it at the website. Reception attendant very helpful and offering great service.

On the first night the room was way too hot. we were moved to a different room that was cooler but this didn't happen until 2am. On our final night we were woken by noise from other guests. Flimsy walls and pumped drainage from the toilets conspired to be woken at midnight by people arriving back in the hotel and then again at 6am by people leaving early.

My room was very big, as was the bathroom. The bathroom was very modern. The window opened (it is important to me to have fresh air.) The staff was super friendly. The hotel is quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable. The heat was easy to control. The room and bathroom were super clean. The hotel is ecologically minded. It is located in the center of the city, very close to shops, movie house, and some major museums and other sightseeing places.

Recommended for the Beer Lovers Marathon!

We chose this as it was as close as possible to the start of the BLM - a two minute walk. Previous reviews meant that we weren't particularly looking forward to our stay but the actual hotel was definitely fit for purpose and it wasn't the fault of the hotel that Liege is a bit of a dump with all the beggars and druggies. We won't be in a hurry to go back to Liege but that's nothing to do with the hotel. Our room was small and stuffy as the windows couldn't be opened. A fan was provided and we also had our own which helped. There was a small bath (couldn't lie in it with legs straight!) and a shower over it. No facilities like a kettle, so very basic but you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Good hotel in useful location.

Super-friendly staff. Rooms tidy and in pretty good shape. Beds were not luxurious by US standards a bit adequate. The only real drawback to the rooms is lack of air conditioning and the fact that one cannot open the window. The heat was bad enough when not so hot outside, so I would not stay there in summer under any circumstance. Easy walk to train station (5-10 min)

Conveniently located in the center of Liege, out the door put one in the hussle of activities. Opera/theater next door, shopping promenade across the square. Easy walks to the big plaza, the cathedral, tourist office, dining. Local train station 10 minutes. Room was conventional ibis, pleasant and functional. Computer not available in lobby while I was there, but wifi worked well. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Very good experience. The room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious and tne area was quite central. As we stayed for 5 nights, we would have liked to have had tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge for cold drinks. Apart from that, the hotel was a good choice for us and the staff were very helpful.

Ideal budget hotel right in old city centre

Couldn't have been more convenient for opera house and Liege Palais station. Much bigger room than expected with big windows overlooking the rather picturesque old rooftops. Good size bed and huge desk. TV only with local channels. No coffee/tea facilities. Excellent restaurants on same street.

Stayed 2 nights. A bit noisy on the front of the building - a bus loop was right below. But overall pretty good. Room was an adequate size, bathroom recently redone, a short walk to museums and churches, plenty of restaurants right nearby. A pretty typical Ibis property. We didn't take breakfast there - there were 3 places right next door for that.

Walking trough the City

The location was pretty good at the liege center of city sightseeing. Room was spacious enough and tidy. Nor new bathroom facilities neither unpleasant. The worst thing was the free WiFi which was so slow and get DC all the time.

You get what you pay for in this world and since this place is cheap as chips, I didn't expect much. Sure enough, the room was v/ basic and in need of some TLC, but all was clean enough and worked as should. Very central which was great.

This is a budget hotel; hence, everything was budget minded - towels, bedding, furniture, size of room. But, it was a clean hotel in a good location and it served well for a 2 night stay. Staff was polite and helpful. Breakfast was good, not special. No coffee in room, and no AC.

The location was about the only thing good about this hotel. You have to pay for parking, internet access and breakfast. The corridors smelled really bad, but the room was fine. The bathtub was dirty and stained and the bathroom was in need of an overhaul.

I chose the hotel for its location and knew I couldn't expect much... So I confirm the place is not attractive at all. It is very expensive for what you get, and be ready to add another €10 for a 3-hour internet connection, and €15 for breakfast. The front desk was nice and helpful.

J'ai été intoxiqué par le petit déjeuner. Le matin je prends le petit déjeuner, un peu avant le déjeuner j'ai dû courir plusieurs fois d'urgence aux toilettes. Je voyage beaucoup, c'est la première fois que cela m'arrive.
Le reste du séjour je n'ai pas pris le petit déjeuner, je n'ai pas eu d'autre problème alimentaire.
De plus, le petit déjeuner est très chère pour le peu de variété et la qualité. Le jus d'orange est surtout de l'eau. Pas de chocolat chaud proposé. Peu de variété des articles. La personne qui accueillent au petit déjeuner n'est pas du tout souriante ce qui n'est pas le cas du reste du personnel.
On sens que l'hôtel est vieillissant : crépi aux mûrs, rideaux des chambres.
La douche est correcte et la télé grande.
Le quartier n'est pas très accueillant au prime abord avec le McDonald's à côté et les personnes qui trainent à côté mais au final c'est assez calme. Il y a quelques lieux d'intérêt à côté et des commerces proches.

To whom this may concern,
I stayed the past weekend (December 19th/20th) with my wife and daughter at ibis Liège Centre Opéra, room 517, while visiting the Christmas Market. I am writing to formally express my disappointment and shock regarding the condition of the bathroom in our room.
As shown in the attached photos I took during our stay, the bathroom was in a completely unacceptable state. There was a persistent rotten drain smell throughout our stay, which was already unpleasant enough. However, every time we took a shower, the bathtub leaked brown water all over the bathroom floor. This was not only disgusting, but also extremely disappointing, especially given that we were travelling as a family.
This is absolutely not the standard we expected when booking an ibis hotel. The situation made our stay very uncomfortable and left us with a very poor impression of your establishment.
I am extremely disappointed by this experience and will think twice before booking at ibis again in the future.
I would appreciate your feedback on this matter.
