Our stay at Dreams Lodge was wonderful. While the room was a bit small, Milady’s heart is huge and she was so incredibly helpful with booking excursions and finding places to go out to eat. The property was impeccably clean and the breakfast is top notch. And the resident family of monkeys kept us entertained!

The room itself was very disappointing, very small for 4 people, no air conditioning, the bathroom was very small and barely enough room to stand. The plumbing was terrible to the point where you had to throw toilet paper in the trash and there were instructions to do so. The bathroom also had cockroaches, that you could see after walking out of the shower. The staff were very nice, but the breakfast and coffee were mediocre at best. This was the only place we could find, would not come here again.

This property felt like staying at a good friend’s house. The manager, Tony, his staff, made us feel like family and went out of their way to help welcome us to Monteverde by not only recommending activities, but arranging them for us and making sure the tour companies actually took care of us. The breakfast every morning was made with care and the service was truly hospitable. The smallest minor issue is that there is no Air Conditioning in the room, which is expected in an eco-friendly lodge, however, the patio door had no screen, either so although it would have been lovely to get some fresh air into the room- the night critters from the forest made that impossible. Overall, the was the most personable lodging in our whole trip and we would highly recommend for someone seeking something family-owned and quiet.

This is a great place to stay if spending time in Monteverde or St. Elena as it's centrally located. The room was large, beautiful, and very clean with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom.

Free breakfast was cooked to order, plentiful, and delicious. There are no \"views\" as it's tucked in against tall trees.

Some of the less than 5 stars above are because the check-in staff person woman was rude to us because Expedia said I had already paid half, and Expedia had failed to charge me (from booking 5 months prior - who can remember that far back?), and I had to go lookup Amex charges, which didn't exist. Once I paid what was due, I tried to make nice with her, as it wasn't my fault either, and she continued to chastise me that she knew better! So she clearly doesn't know about customer service. The male manager was extremely nice the next day. The WiFi didn't work well. And also they were using a very noisy leaf-blower for a while in the morning, which really disturbed our ability to enjoy the morning.

We have had such an amazing stay at Dreams Lodge. Tony and Monse are so helpful and endearing and always greeted us with a smile.We were also lucky enough to meet Tony's brother and wife and granddaughter.
The close encounter with tbe monkeys and seeing such incredibly beautiful birds including
the elusive Bell Bird. The breakfast was huge and so delicious. This is the place to stay in Monteverde!!

The biggest con of this property is there is no one at the property after 8pm sometimes even earlier. The property is a bit old and the locks & keys don't work properly. If you are unable to open the lock or lose keys after 8pm then you are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no help.

We stayed at the Dreams Lodge in Monteverde for two nights and had a very nice experience. We arrived in the early evening and were met by a very friendly professional and polite young lady who explained the B&B to us and showed us to our rooms. The parking was a little cramped but not bad. The room was quiet and clean and delightful and had a mini fridge.

The next morning, we went to breakfast and were met by the owner Antonio who was a very friendly and outgoing host. He explained the history of the dreams lodge and suggested places of interest to visit and to eat at locally. The dreams lodge was close to many businesses and within walking distance to several nice places to eat.

This was an exceptional place to stay, and we would highly recommend it. We will return.

Our stay at Dreams Lodge was phenomenal. Tony was incredibly friendly and welcoming and made our experience one to remember. The homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious. Tony helped us find monkeys, and brought bananas for us to give to them. He had great recommendations for activities and food around MonteVerde. They made sure you were well taken care of and that you enjoyed your stay. We will definitely stay here again. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible plumbing, always noisy due to flushing, substandard room and bedding. Service is not attended to details and doesn't seem to care. No hot water (limited solar heating). It was the worst stay and not worth the money comparing to all other stays in my Costa Rica trip.

This was one of our most expensive hotels we stayed and I was not crazy about it. There is no A/C or fan and unfortunately not a window with net. So we had to open the door to the little balcony and we had a huge spider there next day. Very small room for 4 people staying in a closed room. We ordered breakfast for 7 but they showed up at 7am and we waited at least 20 mins for food. It was ok for us but if you have a cab waiting for you be aware. We also had a mountain view and all we had was very close trees in front of the balcony. The young guy who worked there was very nice and helpful.

Our room was actually detached from the rest of the hotel and was quite spacious and lovely. Betsy, who ran the office and helped with breakfast was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and was delicious every day. There were several restaurants within easy walking distance which was convenient because we didn't have a car. Monkeys came to visit during breakfast just before we checked out. Highly recommended

It was a short stay but it was sweet! Laundry service was quick and professional. Tony helped us organize popular tours including coffee farm, night walks, ziplining, and horseback riding. He gave us the best recommendations and my kids had a great time. The breakfast was also delicious and we enjoyed Tony’s homemade marmalade. I highly recommend staying here!

This was one of our best hotel stays ever. Tony and his team were excellent. Breakfast each morning was top-notch; Tony gave great recommendations for bird-watching tours, night walks, and ziplining; and our room had a little balcony where we could watch wildlife. We saw an agouti a couple of times and got a picture of a Motmot on the ground below us. If our travels bring us to Monteverde again, we will definitely be staying at the Dreams!

This was a lovely little place to stay, just slightly out of town but walkable in about ten minutes to the centre. Also walkable to the mirador Valle Escondido, which is worth the walk for sunset. Cabin was clean, I think we were in one of the smaller ones but it was fine for us. Bathroom was small and needs a bit of updating. Breakfast was fresh fruit and then either pancakes or rice and beans. Capuchin monkeys live in the area so you'll likely see those. Staff were always friendly and helpful, especially Betsy. Would be happy to go back there.

The location is about a 20 minute walk from the main town in the area, Santa Elena, which was convenient (we preferred to walk rather than drive as the road to the property is quite rough, like many of the roads in the region). Parking was available and never an issue at the property during our stay. Breakfast was provided and we enjoyed the monkey \"guests\". Staff were very welcoming. The triple room, however, was quite small. The \"larger\" bed was a double (not queen) and there was also a twin, but they were quite close together in the room. The main concern, however, was the inconsistent electricity. On both days of our stay the power (and wifi, which was decent when it worked), went out for extended periods of time. We're not sure if this is specific to the property itself or indicative of the area, but can say that at least on the first night, power was available up the street and in the town. Overall, the property is a good choice if you're budget conscious and don't want to stay in a hostel in Santa Elena.

The hotel is in a quiet area in the outskirts of Monteverde, which was a great bet, as town can be rather noisy. Staff was fantastic and really helpful. Room was clean and well cared for. Nice shower and comfy bed.

AMAZING! Marilyn & Tony were fantastic hosts. We stayed 2 nights and it felt like home. Safe, comfortable, friendly.

We stayed for two nights and although it was ok I have to say we were a little disappointed. Our room was in a second floor and had a very awkward entrance with low beams which were easy to crack your head on. There also seemed to be some gaps around doorways meaning moths etc. could get in. The shower was difficult to figure out and didn’t consistently give hot water. The staff were helpful and the room was comfortable enough, but we’d just hoped for a bit better overall. Also it’s a very bumpy road to get down to the hotel, so location is not ideal.

Tony and his family are absolutely wonderful. They were extremely helpful when helping my girlfriend and I plan/book the activities in the Santa Elena and Monteverde areas.

Breakfast is included here also. They start you off with some fresh fruit, and coffee or orange juice. Next, you choose between scrambled eggs with ham and toast, or one large pancake. Both options are delicious.

They also provide a laundry service. $5 per kg. They have a scale that you can use to weigh your clothes. You can decide if you have too much or too little, which is nice if you’re tight on money. They say it’s a 3-hour wash and dry, but I just gave them the whole day.

Although the property is quaint there are some precautions. The room I stayed in had issues with moisture in the room. There was a lot of condensation the first night. Additionally, the shower head sprays everywhere, so make sure the shower curtain is pulled tight against the walls! There’s also no AC, which isn’t really needed at that elevation. Lastly, bugs were present in the room. My girlfriend and I are very tolerant of them, so it was mostly okay with us.

In summary, it’s a cute little property with EXCELLENT service. However, the room you stay in is a little small and maybe a little too rustic.

The door did not lock properly. We had the best room with Jacuzzi in the hotel; yet the Jacuzzi did not work at all. Monteverde was cold and windy and it did not help that we had NO HOT WATER both nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was good.

We were told that we could only pay in cash (in dollars or colones). Their conversion rate was extremely questionable and not at all what it should be. We paid in dollars because it ended up being cheaper. Front desk lady didnt even give us change back.

All in all not a bad place to stay but we did have a few things that annoyed us: there was no hot water and barely any water pressure. The faucet in the shower wouldn't close and we had to play with it for 10 minutes at night. Bathroom not renovated at all.
What bothered us was that the owner tried to sell us tours (canopy, bridges, ziplines and night tour) in a pushy way, presenting all the attractions before we even had time to rest after the long way there. Nice to get recommendations but no need to push...
There was a good breakfast and overall okay. Not best value for money in my opinion.

Tony was a great host, he cooked us breakfast every morning, and gave us information on the local tours and restaurants. He even made the tour reservations on our behalf. The hotel is close to the center of town, and transportation was included with the tours.

Beautiful right on the edge of the rainforest

Tony &his staff are great... Tony was always making jokes with us, even shared his secret recipe for his amazing pancakes. The roomwas small but that was ok because we weren't in it other than getting ready in the mornings & sleeping @ night. Scenary was beautiful, surrounded by amazing green plants everywhere

Wonderful family-owned place

Our room was clean and the shower was hot! Tony's family was very welcoming to us. It's out of town a little bit, so you'll need a car to get into Monteverde. It's also away from the noise and traffic.

Great for Families!

Dreams Lodge was dreamy and a great value for the price. It's hard to find great rooms for a family of five and we loved our two queens and a single. Tony and his wife take great care and pride in their lodge. We saw about three or four insanely beautiful bird species right on the property. Breakfast was great and the conversation even better. We would definitely recommend it.

We really enjoyed visiting Monteverde Dreams Lodge for two nights. Tony and his staff were very hospitable. They were so helpful in setting up tours for us, and were very accommodating. The breakfast was perfect and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife on the property.

A wonderful stay in Monteverde 🙂

Booked last minute! We could not be more impressed of how clean & tranquil this place is. No prob w/ water pressure & plenty of hot water in the shower. Tony & his staff are lovely! Tony cooks & serves your choice of breakfast in front of you in the communal kitchen. He will also help book your area activities & as a local, offers his best opinion on chosen itineraries. Comfortable clean hotel with super friendly staff

Dreamslodge is a quaint, clean hotel conveniently located! Staff and Owner extremely friendly and helpful! Breakfasts in the morning were terrific and the place really felt like home away from home. Highly recommended!
