I had to book this hotel last minute from Canada for my daughter who was in Singapore. I actually called the front desk at midnight their time and they were so helpful and although they couldn't beat expedia prices they waited on the phone while I booked everything through Expedia - my daughter arrived a few minutes after I booked and said the place and the people were just amazing. Their balcony looked over a soccer pitch and they loved that. I would recommend for sure. I was really impressed with everything booking to the quality to the people.

Good location and very affordable, at least for the Singapore standards. Near the underground and not far away from the downtown, if you like to walk. However it can be noisy at the night time as the condition of the building is not the best (you will hear water flowing inside the pipes and other people even if they talk normally). Staff at reception is amazing and very helpful. Overall I’m happy with it.

The Hotel Yan is like a backpakers hotel for adults. The price of the rooms is very good, but they are very small. If you are traveling light you and your bags will fit in the room. The staff is great and always available. The area is very close to public transport and great food.

Single room occupancy, which means tight corners. That said, excellent design in maximizing utility of space available. While one has to climb up small flight of stairs to the single bed, the space below fits small desk, a chair, a sofa, & (below the stairs) even a safe! Tiny fridge under the sink, which stands behind a separate shower stall (next to it a different toilet stall). Definitely great find for the solo budget traveler.

compared to US hotels I'd give it a lower rating since the room was small comparatively and not much privacy (bathroom had see through walls with only a curtain to block from the rest of the room)

HOWEVER, I understand it's another country with different standards, especially singapore where things I assume are smaller since land is more expensive, and houses/apts are smaller in general so I feel it's unfair to compare it like that. We also didn't spend much time in the hotel since we were out all the time, so the

1. I paid extra for balcony but plants outside are all died
2. the stepper for the rubbish bin is broken, so I need to open the cover by hand.

Dirty, Not Worth It

They need to have some professional cleaning here. It was disappointing to see a tiny spider on my pillow. Bed lights not working and full of dusts. Remote control and kettle with dusts. TV only 3 channels to choose from. And TV LCD colours is horrible. Air conditioning have a noisy noise, it's not the quiet type. They need to fix it. When taking a shower, even though turnup the heater, but it's still cold an dthats because the sliding door is unable to close fully. Resulting a gap for the cold air to stream into the shower room. :( No hair dryer. Room small. Overall regretted spending so much money on it. Really not worth it. Stayed for two nights and that's why no room service/daily housekeeping. If anything I need I have to go down and ask for it. Overall, horrible wasted money experience. Not recommended. Spend your money elsewhere will be so much worth it.

Modern simple lodging well located

The room was very clean, bed was comfortable, excellent shower. However, the standard room is quite small, and just a bed, mini frig, sink, one bedside table, not enough room for a desk or chair. The location was convenient to the metro and walking distance to many Singapore sights and plenty of choice in street foods, coffee shops and even breweries. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind.

This is a second time I have stayed at Hotel Yan and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and a great location with lot's of local Singaporean life right on your doorstep and easy walking distance to Lavender MRT to get you anywhere in the city. The rooms are small, but completely functional and they have a cool Industrial Chic style. Excellent value for money and definitely my \"goto\" hotel when I'm staying in Singapore.

Very cute

Very cute boutique hotel in Singapore. Staff was very nice and helpful for a first-time visit. The rooms are quite small so if you have large luggage (like me) only enough room for one. Hotel is close to 7-11 and authentic Singapore eateries. Would def stay here again

One night stay as the night before a flight out from the airport. It's fairly convenient for the MRT and was an easy cab which is how I made that journey in the end.

The hotel itself was nice. Clean and pleasant, not overly bland. A modest sized comfortable room. Worked well for my needs.

Service was very good. Friendly, helpful and attentive. Room has some issues. The air conditioner seems oversized for the room and is very noisy. The television only had 4-5 channels (all local). While not dirty per se, the bedding and towels seemed quite worn.

Overall pretty decent value for the price (for Singapore).

Picture is good, room is small

not bad for a 3 star hotel, but the room is too small so I ask reception, he said that all the photo show online is deluxe room.
You can image how small the room is as I can't even open my suitcase on the ground.
The water temp is not very stable.
So far so good, but for sure not worth 800HKD per night.

Stayed in single bed loft and the staircase is a little narrow to climb up and down.
The rail is dusty and aircond location isn’t very much ideal as the air blows directly to your legs.

Great low cost boutique hotel in great location

A great budget boutique hotel, my second stay here. A funky little hotel with modern rooms. Rooms are very small but satisfactory, with a lovely shower, tv and a free mini bar daily. Staff are super friendly and always happy to help. Location is good, a short walk to mrt, little India and a great hawkers and wee restaurant and bars on the same street. I highly recommend this hotel for those not wanting to pay the exorbitant costs of accom in Singapore.

I dislike the hotel for its lack of room amenities such as a closet and a real desk. It needs improvement in this area.

My room was Premium Double room, and though it’s a double room, it definitely won’t fit more than 2 person. I travelled solo though, so the room was a right fit for me. The bed was comfortable. Location wise, it’s just 5-7 minutes walk to Lavender mrt station and there are few hawker stalls located nearby the hotel so it’s really convenient.

Loved this place. The rooms are a room and very very small however it’s so clean and the staff is so nice. I love the lobby. They play great music and it’s beautiful. There’s a coffee shop a couple doors down and the food and coffee are amazing. You literally hear everything in the room from water running to doors closing. However, i would stay here again. Great value for the money and a really nice place

Nice hotel qith unusual \"raw\" decor. Good sheets, good AC. A bit on the small side but not unusual for Singapore. Free minibar was a nice touch. About 6min walk from Lavender MRT. A little quirk is that the bathroom walls are glass and you either close the toilet door or the shower, not both, so you really gotta know the person you're staying with.

Was given a room (213) next to some staff pantry room or something. Could hear the door slam every now and then especially in the morning. Sometimes in the night as well around 1am. Did not bother as only stay for a night. Thus, would prefer not to be in that corner next time if were to book again. Overall the exp was pleasant and comfortable. :)

My perfect hotel!

If I was going to design my perfect hotel, this would be it. It was cozy, chic, modern...perfect distance from public transit, in a quiet neighborhood far from the tourist track (i.e., locals everywhere) and with surprising treats, like Coca-Cola! A note: While I adored the next door Tibetan temple, spent every morning and night there and smiled at the bells and gongs at night...I realize not everyone is going to be the same. It is truly a 24/7 temple, so be aware you might hear gongs in the middle of the night.

Great hotel!

The hotel room is definitely a tight squeeze - as commented by other travelers. I had the loft room, traveling solo, and it was perfect for me. That said, I would definitley not recommend the LOFT for travels of 2 or more. Very clean hotel. Rooms were very clean as well. The hotel is in a great area - a bit more residential so it's quiet - but only a quick Metro ride to the bustling chinatown.

We stayed in the deluxe suite room. The bath was fantastic! The bed was huge (the bed was firm which we liked) it was big enough for 2 adults and a kid, the room was spacious enough for the time we spent in it, though we did only really sleep and bathe there as there is so much to see and do in Singapore! The staff were all friendly! Ordered us taxis, safely stored our luggage on check out day, and they gave us extra free bottles of water when requested! We had flight delays of 10+ hours, we rang the hotel to let them know we wouldn’t be there to check in for the first night, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. We ended up checking in at about 2am, very quickly too, we were in our room within a minute or so and sleeping soundly. The complementary mini bar items were great too. The only thing that was uncomfortable about the room was not having a fully closing door for the bathroom area and having the curtain on the outside of the bathroom; when staying with a kid this can be problematic however it isn’t something you can’t deal with. Some outside noise can be heard, it is near a rather lively area, it’s no different than staying in a city hotel and hearing traffic though. There’s a small hawker center a few steps from the hotel, and a 7Eleven store. There’s a couple of grocery stores within 5-10 minute walk which is very convenient.

Easy to get to . Close to Bendemeer metro station. Easy walking with luggage. Also easy to walk to Little India a few blocks away.

Staff great. Breakfast 2 doors away or across the street. Metro takes you everywhere. Buy a 3 day ticket at the machine at the airport or any train station. .
