Excellent location for walking around the old town. About 10 minutes to most area walk.

The only drawback would be the lack of breakfast. They did offer some types of options, but nothing that appealed to European or American tastes.

Location is convenient to many places and dining options are great! The bed was clean and comfortable but the room I booked is meant for three people but the cups and toiletries are for two people only! And the room is actually for two people so by putting in an extra bed the room is so squishy yet we are paying the same amount of money as those who pay for two people. It’s so unfair

My stay at the Caravel Hotel was an excellent experience and I can’t say enough good things about it and the staff. The manager Joao was able to help us out with our last minute reservations. The front desk Andy and Harvey were incredibly friendly and helpful with our questions about the room. When we need an ironing board and iron. I was shocked on how quick the response was. My girlfriend forgot her ring in the bathroom when we checked out. Sandy from housekeeping quickly returned it to the front desk and Andy called us about it. The hotel was great but the staff is what really made our stay a memorable experience. Thank you very much

Above expectations, modern and clean, good substitute to five star hotel but a lot cheaper.

Good transport network around, easy to get around city centre, a lot of food places and shopping around.

Got everything you need in a hotel, only down side is the shower/bath tends to drain slow and prone to flooding because of the design. Not many TV channels either.

Personal opinion about the airconditioner, didn't like it blowing right at my face when sleeping. If can move around the room set up with the bed would be nice?

The booklet in the room stated that \"Please feel free to enjoy the complimentary drinks inside the mini fridge provided in room. Bottled water is refillable up to 4 bottles a day.\" However we the fridge is empty. Besides, there is only 2 bottles of water in the room. So just curious.

We arrived a little later to check in and unfortunately there was only one lady at the desk. We did wait a little while though she was pleasant and polite.

A nice little hotel for a quick stay. Quite clean though the shower was starting to show it’s age. Very close to the smaller streets which was nice.

Would stay here again purely for convenience and affordability. There isn’t much in terms of facilities but it was fine for us

We booked online and the booking was confirmed and already paid for but when we reached there around 2 in the morning, the staff couldn’t locate our booking and there were no rooms available. We made sudden plans to stay the night in Macao after playing Casino overnight but the Hotel didn’t have the booking or the room or any other facilities that we could use. Instead, they asked us to cancel the booking and get another hotel room. Where can you possibly find a room at 2 in the morning in Taipa area if you’re a visitor and with no phone connection but only Wifi Access of the hotels? Such a terrible experience. We were so drained out and tired, we just wanted to sleep and catch the bus to HK next morning. The room price was 1k which isn’t very cheap. The hotel should maintain their online reservations, if you don’t have rooms available, you should block the booking via online portal.

I will certainly stay here again!

I didn’t want to give a 5 star review because it will only make the hotel more desirable, room occupancy will increase, and the price for rooms will go up ... and I’d like to continue to stay at this affordable hotel with 5 star service for less in the future - I will definitely return here on any subsequent visits to Macau.

The hotel can be tricky to find because it is tucked away rather than on the main road ... it is located one block north and one block east of the Ponte 16 bus stop - and from this stop, you can easily catch buses to the ferry, HZMB bridge terminal, and to the casinos in Cotai. St Paul’s and Senado Square are an easy 10 minute walk on mostly flat ground. The neighborhood is undergoing a transformation, and new shops and infrastructure are replacing the old. Since it’s off the main road, it was not so noisy at night, and I slept comfortably.

A fantastic feature of the hotel is the complimentary use of a mobile phone ... I was never lost on winding back streets because I could locate myself on the phone’s map. Customer service from the front staff desk was exceptional.

Fabulous modern style hotel in a beautiful old building. Located in the historic Old City of Macau and within walking distance of many of the city's attractions. Wonderful staff; warm welcome and very helpful. Room was lovely; clean, modern and with everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. Breakfast next door was delicious - definitely try the Laksa!! Overall, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel in the heart of the city.

Location is great and rooms are new. Very basic hotel, no amenities though they provide access to free breakfast and gym hosted by 3 parties next door.

The room is clean and new but does not come with wardrobe and no basic amenities like hair dryer/iron board. No wardrobe means clothes are either scattered around the room or had to be kept locked in the luggage.

Location isn't bad if you plan to walk to the ruins of st paul. Room is small, we have 3 people and one of us have to sleep on a sofa bed that isn't quite comfortable. Taxi in macau is very lacking and we had issues trying to get a taxi to the pier from the hotel, we ended up walking to the sofitel hotel to catch a shuttle to the pier. The front desk wasn't helpful and told us to take the shuttle, I would not stay here again, find somewhere else. Also when we take the taxi, none of them know this hotel, we provided them with the hotel address and they had no clue and had to call them to ask in chinese.

The Caravel is a hidden gem! It is located in a very safe but older section of Macau, but don’t let that stop you from staying here. It is not a huge hotel, but has a boutique vibe. My room was perfect.... large enough and very well decorated and stocked with many extras... water bottles, sodas, cookies! There is a mini-fridge. The TV was amazing... many selections with several language choices. The bathroom and shower were first rate. The best part was the bed! Extremely comfortable and luxurious linens! The breakfast was just enough for me... hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit choices, cold cereal, bread/toast with several spreads, and a wide variety of beverages. It was all self-serve with all-you-can-eat. The staff in every area was top-notch! Very helpful and attentive! I would highly recommend this hotel if you want great accommodations and good value!

It was my 3rd time that I stayed at this hotel. The main reason for my choice was location. It is in the proximity of public transport (within one-minute walk) and local food.

The hotel room is always clean with a comfy bed. I would like to thank everyone in the housekeeping team as this is the most satisfactory stay over the past. They are always amiable, ready to help and say hi whenever seeing them in the property.

Special thanks to the female manager who noticed my difficulty when loading my luggage onto the taxi and ran out to help. Thanks to a receptionist who helped to call a taxi and assisted on a Tuesday evening, another receptionist who helped to fix the TV right away on the 1st day.

I was happy to see all these old faces who made my stay a smooth one. All the best to the staff!

This hotel has exceeded our expectations in all aspects - quick check-in and friendly staff, nice amenities and comfort setting in the room. It’s quite close to the old town with plenty food options, and just a block away from Ponte 16 hotel which you can utilise their bus shuttles from the ferry terminal. Most major tourist destinations are within walking distance. If you need to get to Taipa, then you will need a cab or walk to the nearby bus stop. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone who just want a decent place to sleep without paying a premium for those luxury hotel chains.

Cute boutique hotel near sightseeing

This is a cute little boutique hotel near the old Portuguese section of the island. It is in walking distance to many sightseeing opportunities and is near the Sofitel which has a shuttle that is very convenient to use that runs to the ferry terminal. The rooms are nicely decorated and have many nice amenities, such as cute tea cups and a variety of teas, along with a goodie bag with cookies.

Great Hotel to stay in Macau

Location is a bit difficult to find but with the help of Waze. It is manageable to reach there. Outside the hotel has a lot of shops for us to stroll around. Food is not a problem here. It is also not really far to all Casinos, including Wynn Casino. It just cost HKD 29 to get a cab to reach there.

Hotel overall is very good. Simple breakfast is provided.

Cons:
Discovered on arrival that the hotel was undergoing work so quite noisy at times (especially if you want a nap after flying overnight!)

Service a bit patchy. For example, on arrival asked if there was somewhere I could get a coffee and was directed to the restaurant, to be told it was shut. A but inattentive in general.

Many surprises and thoughtful gestures

The hotel was a pleasant surprise. At first was a little worried about the room size/shape as the building exterior looked triangular. But room size was spacious and mostly regular in shape.

The \"Handy\" smart device was especially useful. It can be a guidebook & GPS on the go. The welcome cookies, beautiful toiletries holder, teacup etc added a lovely touch to the hotel. There was even a weighing machine for the health/weight conscious.

Also the mattress & pillow was sooo comfortable, providing a really restful sleep which is the most important factor of a hotel room.

Location is great as well. One can take the free shuttle bus at Sofitel Ponte 16 (right opppsite of Caravel Hotel) to/fro ferry terminal. It is also within walking distance to Ruins of St. Paul, Senado Square and all the heritage sites.

If there's any thing that needs to be improved, having USB sockets will make this hotel 10/10.

Stylish hotel in a good location for the old town

Nice decor, good room size, love the L'Occitane products in the bathroom, great shower, helpful friendly staff, comfortable bed & nice towels.
Breakfast is a bit basic, but good coffee and so many things I wanted to eat in Macau in such a short time so not a problem.
Shame about the building work - daytime only - they said it would be finished by the end of August. I'd recommend it to my friends.
