This property is below average. Staff and Manager are trying their best to help, but the property itself is not upto the mark. Location is ok. If you are a British national stay away and if you have vegetarian dietary requirements, do not even go to this hotel if this is the last hotel in town. Unfortunately my whole experiance was fowl and have nothing good to say about this hotels

Hotel itself was very clean. Room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the bay and Macau tower. But it was located on a steep hill and all routes to anywhere required us to walk down or up the steep streets to a bus station.

Quite and comfy and clean. Close to historical areas. Shuttle bus to main street and casino areas about 5x times daily. Cheap taxis around as well. Everywhere I went accepted HK dollars too. Reasonable cost compared to others as well. Breakfast was plentiful and pretty good. also check out casino websites for shuttle bus info around the islands.

Great place for a quiet holiday

Great environment, nice view from the leisure area at the floor we stayed. Room in excellent condition, very clean and refreshing. I like the location of the hotel as in the mid-level of a hilly district so we can have great view the southern part of Macau. It is quiet. Felt like a nice little Shangrila. Breakfast offered in great value especially if purchased for family. Greatly appreciate for the friendly service of staff. And I loved the art exhibition held at the lobby by the moment I lived in this hotel.

This hotel was not quite what I had expected. It is a bit isolated from the city without any shops, restaurants or markets nearby. I did walk to Senado, but I certainly would not recommend it. It is located up on a hill so plan on taking a taxi anytime you want to go out. There is not a casino which if I had researched I would have easily found out, but it was an assumption I made incorrectly. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly.

This Hotel is rather secluded in compare to the other Hotels that are gathering together in Macau, distance to the Casinos and the eating places are quite far and most of the transport needed is by Taxi, some drivers knew where we are going they chase us to get off the Taxi as it is abit too far off, hence it is quiet inconvenient, although despite all that, it got quite a good view as it is located in middle of the hill, and directly infront of the Hotel is the Macau Tower.

We booked it primarily to watch the firework display. It was worth it. Hotel is not near the other amenities.

Need to walk about 15 minutes to reach the old Macau district. Taxis are hard to come by but the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful to get one for you.

Nice hotel at the top of the hill

Before my visit, I was kind of worried as the hotel isn't replying to any of my emails. I tried contacting them thru their official website and was unable to contact them too.

However, when I reached the hotel, I was met with very professional staffs. Hotel is very nice. Hotel room nicely decorated. Very pleased with the overall experience.

**hotel is located at the top of a very steep 'hill', requires a lot of energy to climb up to the top if you missed the free shuttle bus.

I liked it. The view is blocked by a building. Not what som.e posts gushed about. They also had me on the other side. Hard walk up a hill. It's decorated in old Chinese style. Cute. Makes you feel you are in a different country. Not smokey smelling. Patio. Good tv selection. And the smartest thing is they LOAN you a cel phone for FREE! why doen't every place do this? The one other negative is that they have a no outside food rule. I didn't respect it and they didn't challenge me on it.

Location is a bit of an issue. Walk to town is great (weather permitting) but going back is uphill and tedious. Free shuttle to town & ferry every hour but don't rely on it to pick you up in town. You either walk back (tiring when you're carrying stuff) or take a cab (expensive). No Uber in Macau at time of stay.

Otherwise, it's a good hotel - nice, clean, spacious rooms. Nice little Portuguese inspired restaurant (Amigo). There's another Chines one but didn't try.

Generally friendly staff. Generally clean. Elevators were pleasantly quick. Comfortable beds and bedding. A disturbing “air freshener” scent in the pubic areas. Our two windows could not be opened. The bathtub did not hold bath water, but drained with the stopper closed. Mildewy smell in the shower area.
Our room view faced a stained wall, but we did have access to a sparsely furnished balcony overlooking water, bridges, and the Macao Tower. A magnificent view any time of day or night, though a staff member came up late one night to warn us not to kill ourselves (???)

An ideal stay for those who prefer to be away from the casinos and the noise. The shuttle bus offers several drop off locations on the way to the ferry terminal, as well as hop on locations, very convenient. The breakfast was delicious and the view is spectacular. Recommended!

Hotel is nice. Rooms are good. Gave us extra soaps and stuff every single day, even when we didn't need it. Stayed here for 3 nights during a busy time. They have a shuttle from the new ferry terminal at the bottom of every hour. We didn't know this an took a normal bus to get there. Shuttle was convenient and free though. Helped us get back a few times and helped us get downtown to the casinos with ease. Overall good stay, hallways were noisy from time to time but that was mainly just other peoples kids, nothing hotel can really do about it. Price was a little high but holiday time, cant be helped. Would stay here again

Close to all I wanted to do in Macau

This is my third trip to Macau and first experience staying at the Riviera Hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
As well included in my package was a morning breakfast which was excellent.
I would highly suggest taking a look at this hotel for any future trips you may want to take to Macau as it certainly filled the requested needs I wanted.

The hotel is not centrally located but a 10 to 15 min shuttle ride can put you in the middle of Macau. The beds were very comfortable and the view of the Macau tower is a plus. The breakfast buffet was good as well!

Nice modern hotel, but some difficulty for taxi drivers to find it. Great view of the Macau tower and bridges. The hotel provides a shuttle to downtown and the ferry terminal hourly, but we found it awkward to use to get back. Breakfast was good, but ran out of most popular items from 9:30.

Friendly, Clean and Quiet

The Riviera is a good choice if you want to save some money in Macau. The rooms are large and clean. There are plenty of amenities and the climate control works well. The bathroom is spacious and well appointed.

The restaurant serves a good buffet breakfast for only $10 if it is not included with your room. The staff is friendly, efficient and always present to assist you.

The hotel is removed from the downtown area, so it is a good walk to town, but there are a few good restaurants nearby. It is on a hillside, so the return trip is an uphill walk. Of course, Macau cabs are inexpensive so it is not an issue. This does help the hotel remain quiet from street noise.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and was able to save more than $50 a day on accommodations.

Hotel was nice & the overall service was ok. I was kind of shock when I had to pay extra for the umbrella which I thought was a complimentary from the hotel & when I asked the hotel staff, they didn't bother to reply. Hotel shuttle bus was difficult to find from the ferry pier.

I couldn't get the room I requested for in the remarks while booking specially which I was little bumped about.

From the room in this hotel you can see Macau tower from a big space balcony , that's a nice view. It's hard to walking around the hotel due to the hotel is located on a hill then you have to walk uphill but anyway you can take the casino bus from the hotel to city center. And I thought the staffs seem not friendly with me.

Great hotel that is older and out of the way.

We got our room as one of the cheapest in Macau, so for that it was awesome. Felt like an upscale place that was just a bit old without updating. Room was great, but the facilities were lacking. No laundry on site except for their service which was expensive. Business center was from the 90s and useless. No gym or pool. However, had a rooftop with great view. The location isn't the best right now and public transport is not great. Overall I gave it a four, but that is for the price we paid(about 65USD). If I paid 200USD a night I would be disappointed. Like I said it was almost the cheapest room for 2 in Macau. I enjoyed and most people would also.

Quiet place, tidy room but weak wifi signal

The hotel is located in a quiet place, the rooms were quite tidy, except that I didn't really like the green colour and the style in the room I stayed for the 1st night. It was a bit odd...but the staff were helpful in changing the room on the 2nd day.
There were several times in a day that hotel staff knocked the door and asked something, which was a bit strange to me, as many people would stay inside the rooms to rest or work, not expecting any distraction from hotel staff.

Quiet and serene environment

A very pleasant stay indeed, even though the hotel is tucked away from the busy street, it's actually within walking distance to several of the places of interest. The hotel is clean, quiet and nicely furnished. We requested for twin bed and was provided without any additional charge. The breakfast provide both local and international spread but is not extravagance. Overall, we would recommend for couple who want to spend quality and quiet time together. By the way, the former president of China, Mr. Jiang ZeMin had stayed in this hotel twice!

I almost never write reviews but we enjoyed staying at the Riviera very much and I'm happy to recommend it. In particularly we found the staff to be genuinely friendly and helpful (rather rare these days). I liked the location which is convenient for walking to the sights around Barra hill and to the Macau Tower, and for taking taxies to Taipa and other parts of Macau. I also liked the quirky décor of our rooms and the roof-top terrace with views over Macau. Intend to stay here on our next trip to Macau.

I checked in on a weekday and was upgraded to a seaview room with a balony. The room was nice and clean with amenities. The hotel is small and quiet, without the hassle and bustle of casino-goers.

I choose this hotel because it close to the lake where can watch the firework. It also close to Templo de A-Má. I stay in this hotel some years before, nothing change, still in good condition. Just difficult to find a taxi that will to go to this hotel. But if I watch firework next time, I want to stay there again.

I know most people go to Macau for the casinos but I was not interested in that. I wanted to see the historic sites and scenery. This was a great hotel for that as they have a shuttle to pick up and drop you off at the ferry terminal (runs about every 45 minutes). You can walk to many of the historic sites in Macau or there is a city bus that stops in front of the hotel (#9). Within a coupld of minutes walking there is a neighborhood with a grocery store, restaurants, and shops. The room was very comfortable and the interior is very nice. On site there is a restaurant. It is a very nice place, I'd stay again.

cheapest place out of a place where prices are very expensive. this hotel is in a decent spot in old Macau, you can walk to Lisboa and Wynn casinos. they offer free bus to ferry where you can get other casinos free buses to city of dreams an. Venetian etc. taxi into old Macau was 4 usd so was cheap anyway. Only complaint was breakfast isn't that nice and there opening times is pretty limited. I went down at 10:12 thinking it was 10:30 finish and got turned away. was a bit angry given the price if the place. the bake beans taste wrong too... I dunno how hard it is to cook bake beans by these were horrid... I'd stay ere again, but to budget travellers you should stay in Hong Kong

The rooms are nicer than the Sheraton at Cotai. I liked the red Chinese theme and you have a nice view of the Macau Tower. You are a bit of a walk from any major sites, and Taxis don't pass by the hotel, so you have to walk down the hill to get anywhere. That's the only problem with the hotel. Would stay again.

The room is good for watching firework and has a nice view over Macau Tower. However, the transportation to and from the hotel is very limited and hard to catch a taxi. Shuttle bus is only provided between ferry terminal from 9am to 9.30pm in 0.5/1 hour interval. Washroom should be renovated for more comfort.

Cosy quiet hotel

Tucked away in the hillside of Macao, this hotel brings you a garden or ocean view. I had the garden view, which was fabulous as I could take an apple, sit on the \"tree trunk\" chair and look at the greenery around. Fabulous to get away from the noise and work! The bed was so comfortable and they have cable TV with many channels to choose from! The room is so brightly lighted, I could not ask for a better room! It just made me so happy to be in here.

The only thing I did not like is - every thing is almost RED! Yes, the color RED does hurt the eye if you look at it for too long - from door, to closet to wall!

This hotel was great. I got an amazing room. I had the view of the macau tower and the bridge. It was SPLENDID! I didn't expect that. The hotel was a bit far from the casinos and main town area but that didn't really bother me as the hotel had a free shuttle service to the town area. Check in was easy and quick. Room was clean and tidy. The channels on the tv worked well. They even gave me two free drinks coupons when I checked in. It was a thoughful gesture. Will stay again as its perfect if you want an amazing view and a quiet location.

Quiet location in a nice neighbourhood

I stayed in a room facing the back, looking at the hillside (or large rocks). The rooms has a little outdoor area where you can sit down for some sunshine and fresh air. I like the colour scheme of this room, with is decorated with light coloured (white and pale yellow) wall papers and furniture. A nice touch is that hotels guests will be offered a little teddy bear with the hotel name on it, as well as some cookies and fruits. The beds are comfortable and the size of the room is reasonable. On the downside, the TV in the room doesn't work all the time. I think there's a problem with the connection between the digital signal receiver and the screen. There's a shuttle bus service between the hotel and the city centre extending to the ferry terminal, but you may not get a seat at busy holiday seasons.

Nice hotel with great views across the bay area

Hotel was undergoing significant renovation but it never intruded.
It was quiet and yet close to the city center using the free shuttle bus that stopped at the hotel regularly.
Hotel staff were very helpful.
Breakfast was very Asian, but that's to be expected of course.
I stayed one nigh, but my overall experience was pleasing.

Older hotel but good

Riviera Hotel is a throwback to Macau in the early 2000s, before the casino boom. That's why I liked it.

The hallway smelled a little musty and its carpet had seen better days. However, the room was fine. Mine had a nice harbor view.

The hotel is being renovated, and during the day it can get a bit noisy from the construction. Some of the floors appear to have already been remodeled.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was tasty, with lots of choices. Plenty of Filappinos work at Riviera, so the English level is good.

Shuttle buses run every 30 minutes until 9pm from the hotel to downtown and ferry. Bring your itinerary, better yet have Riviera Hotel translated into Chinese, if you take taxi.

Clean, nice sized rooms, excellent breakfast

Hotel is a little outside the hustle and bustle of Macau central but still close enough to be no problem, especially with half hourly free air conditioned shuttle buses. The hotel has a relaxed ambience and pleasant smell. I initially checked in for two nights but booked a further two nights when I found how comfortable I was there.

Good hotel at a convenient location

I was pleased to stay in a seaview room with a good vista of the Macau tower and a Taipa bridge. The hotel is also close to Central Macau and the old town but is located at a quiet neighbourhood. It is also within walking distance to good restaurants, the Cathedral and heritage sites. Staff are both friendly and helpful.

Lovely Hotel

I am surprised with the room decoration, its very chinese style, but to me, its too red. Anyway, what they provide are all lovely, bear cookie, a bear doll on the bed, fruit on table. And the view is very beautiful!

Decent but far from center

It's my second time staying the property. Everything keeps the same as two years ago but keeps getting out-of-date. Too far from city center makes it inconvenient for visit-heavy tourists. Overall speaking, the hotel is good for bed and breakfast.
