The room I had was clean and spacious. The surrounding area was quiet and safe. The staff was helpful and nice. There is no convenient public transport, but there were taxis when we needed one and there are some stores nearby. I appreciated having bottled water in my room every day.

There are English speaking front-desk staff members. The service is always courteous.

The hotel is under-going renovation, according to the welcome letter put on the desk in the guest room. I am not sure if this is the reason that the western restaurant was closed during these days.

The staff was friendly and provided us a free upgrade at check-in so we could have two rooms adjacent to each other. However, one of the guests got some kind of insect bite the night we stayed. She most likely got the insect-bite in bed. When she woke up in the morning, her ear was swollen. The next day, her ear had gotten worse and she had to get prescribed medication to treat the infection and ease the pain. The pictures of the hotel rooms definitely look much nicer than in real life. Though the rooms were clean but they look pretty outdated for the Holiday Inn brand. There were better choices and newer hotels around the same price per night in Macau. I thought the Holiday Inn brand would give me some peace of mind but I was wrong. Staff was helpful and nice, but I will never stay there again because of the insect-bite experience and how outdated the rooms were.

Still trying to cope with the new tourist wave. Personnel is very friendly and helpful but the hotel does not work properly. I received no answer when I called and wrote an e-mail. But then at check in they gave me an upgrade, to compensate. Dirty carpet in room. Poor breakfast, restaurant closed.

This was a staycation for my girlfriend. Since we can’t travel, she needed a vacation and this was it for her. Upon booking a very reasonable rate I learned that the deposit was more expensive than the room rate. I called and spoke to Vincent- and he was extremely accommodating and lowered the deposit significantly. She was very happy with her stay. Only one ding- she asked the cleaning person to give her a new wine glass and then caught her out of the corner of her eye washing it in the bathroom sink and drying it with bath towels. She called and got new ones from the front desk after. All in all this was a great value and accommodating staff that treated her with respect.

We had booked three non-smoking rooms and had fully paid. When we arrived at around 5:45pm, the reception told us that only one non-smoking room remained. Ultimately we could only stay in 2 smoking rooms and 1 non-smoking room.
The conditions of the smoking rooms were very bad. They were very smelly and our noses were badly irritated throughout the night and could not sleep.

Hotel was great, staff excellent. Room air con was not cool, you cannot change from 24. Were taken aback by 1000mop deposit! Thought we would try restaurant to use up deposit. One was buffet the other chinese. Did not like the look of either but chose chinese because of deposit. We were shocked when the restaurant said we could not charge bill to the room as the front desk said we could. Seems front desk forgot to tell us the chinese place was not part of the hotel!

Two Jacuzzis was awesome... no one was around so we had the whole place to ourselves.

Room was big... view was rubbish and the glass was magnified so was blurry and made us dizzy of looked out for too long.

Location - walking distance from main sites on northern island. Airport shuttle is difficult to find as there is no sign (unlike the larger hotels and casinos which are very well signposted)

Service - friendly and efficient

Accommodation - very comfortable, 2 beds in each room (are more like doubles than the advertised queen size)

Eating - buffet dinner was tasty and plentiful, and the 50% discount for guests made it almost reasonable.

Wi-fi - in room, and has a mobile phone to use for free during your stay (which is handy because our CSL sim bought in Hong Kong didn't work in Macau, as it was supposed to)

Summary - good value for money in an ok location. Can use local bus for 5HKD (A$1) per trip to anywhere in Macau, or the free shuttles which run between the larger casinos.

My fourth trip to Macau, and each time I have stayed at Holiday Inn. It wasn't until my 3rd trip that I was even aware they operated a complimentary shuttle service from the ferry terminal. So I wanted to make sure I utilized this service. With Grand Prix weekend fast approaching all shuttles had been relocated to a different pick up point. Every other hotel was well sign posted from the terminal, except for Holiday Inn, so it became a guessing game and eventually an hour wait to flag down my shuttle to the hotel. No signage (every other hotel managed this) and so a frustrating beginning to my stay. Upon arrival I noticed the massive renovation works taking place outside. OK, my bad for not taking time to investigate this information thoroughly, but once again something that was poorly communicated. Upon check in the staff offered to upgrade me to a bigger bed and room. Great I thought, only to be majorly disappointed when I arrived at my room to find jack hammers and clouds of dust smashing away in the room immediately adjacent to mine. The waiver form they gave mentioned intermittent works, so I was happy to be a good customer and try to bear with it, despite the fact my first hours stay was met with constant and deafening works. The next morning the works started (3/4 hour before advertised) much to my anger. To the hotel's credit they relocated me to another room. All these inconveniences could have been easy by better organisation. Not sure I'll be returning to HI.

I travelled with my family for a short trip to Macau. We chose the non smoking rooms on non smoking floor. I asked the staff for the rooms next to each other as I had my 6-year-old daughter and 63-year-old grandma travelling with me. Still, My room was smelly with cigarettes. I could barely sleep through my entire trip. We stayed there for 3 nights; the smell did not go off at all. I could have asked for room changed but I didn’t because i was worried about my daughter. She likes to come and play with me and my husband. However, it is a nice hotel. We will go and stay there next time.

Stay was O.K. but when we left for the ferry in the evening when we toke the HOTEL FREE SHUTTE BUS, we are just on time to catch our FERRY but the bus not leaving at schedule due to some accident of the driver & we are not informed until we asked & when the hotel called a taxi for us to the FERRY they had not informed the driver where we were going & not paying the trip for us!

Good Hotel for the Price

Free shuttle. Bathtub in the room which is a plus for me because I like to take a hot bath to relax. Spa is a bit expensive for Asia so I did not use. Staff is nice. Price was good compared to other hotels in Macau so I would stay again.

The stay was awesome. The location was strategic as it was always easy to get public buses and travel around. With shuttle bus to-and-fro outer harbour, our journey to the hotel was smooth.

I had some special requests for my stay and the staffs were helpful and made effort to communicate with me and was able to fulfill my requests and followed up accordingly. I really appreciate the effort a lot.

The last time I went to Macau I had to ask for help from this hotel's reception, and even though I wasn't their guest, they were kind enough to help me through my situation. At that moment I made a promise to myself that I would come back to stay here one day. Now I did.

The free shuttle from the ferry terminal was so old and needs renovation, and that's the only negative thing I have in mind about this hotel. My whole stay was nothing but pleasurable, starting off with a free upgrade. The room was spacious, well-equipped, and perfect for me and my 10-year-old nephew. There's a 7-11 and restaurant right outside. The beautiful historic centre was in a walking distance. Taxis and buses are abundant.

The main thing people seem to fuss about is the deposit required by the hotel at check-in, so take note and be prepared.

hotel location is in Macau central, hard to find, need to access by bus. When checking in, the procedures took very long, counter staffs were rekeying out details into the system as if weren't prepared at all. When reach hotel room, was attended by rude housekeeping staffs. We ask for stuff and they attended to us with super bad attitude. Booked two double bed but the bed was smaller than expected. Did not book any extra bed but was told by them that it was included in our booking and so we thought it was only a double bed so we agreed that we need that extra bed. However, we saw there was two bed in the room so we do not need the extra bed anymore, staffs took it back unwantedly as if we made them do extra work and told us no refund would be given even if we don't need it. Utilities were all given for 2 pax even though we booked a 3 person room. Overall, it was a bad stay and won't consider coming back anymore.

It's a typical Holiday Inn hotel. The room was good enough. Many of the staff are Filippinos, who speak good English. And the location is good. It's a short walk to Grand Lisboa and the Lisboa casinos. To Wynn Macau and MGM Macau, it's a longer walk, or just a cheap cab ride. Wynn Macau has excellent buffet breakfast. But it's not cheap, about US$30. I didn't try the breakfast buffet at Holiday Inn.

Hotel staff refused to move us to a new room, guests in the next room were not 'loud enough at 2am. Our room was an adjoining/connecting room which we never requested in the first place, because if the door connecting the rooms you can hear everything, not happy, do not recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Macau.

Frascati Cafe on 4th floor has a decent al la carte menu , good food well priced and generous portions. There is a cheaper option which is the lunch buffet but I did not try it. Not a great casino but there are plenty nearby to choose from.
