The location is excellent for visiting historic sections of Macau and close to a free shuttle to casino resorts in Cotai. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. We had adjoining family rooms and the second room had twin beds and a sofa bed, perfect for three children. The rooms were pokey with little natural light. It is a very old hotel and, though clean, feels rundown. Breakfast is very basic.

A ‘wow’ experience

The duplex was value for money as we had paid a special price not offered by the other hotel booking sites As I have a strong sense of smell, I detected a slight musty smell from the shower curtain after a shower. Perhaps the hotel could consider using a curtain made of synthetic material to prevent such smells. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, given the attention the hotel paid to the cleanliness, decor and amenities in our room

they need to renovate the bathroom; it looks very old, rusted, not so clean and outdated. Other than that it’s a good budget hotel . It’s located at the center of the city. It’s very convenient location and you can pretty get around in walking distance. The hotel provides free shuttle to ferry terminal. The staffs are helpful too

Very convenient hotel in the centre of town ,,the room was a bit smaller than I would have liked and the Wardrobe was tiny but everything worked and it was clean . breakfast was rather local but as I would have preferred a more Western breakfast but there were plenty of other cafes nearby to top up on the breakfast experience. staff were friendly and helpful at the front desk and although most of the dining staff were Chinese some did speak English

Old hotel, bad customer service... not worth it

I booked a room for 4 people for two days. Photos shown and explanation provided on hotels.com was two queen beds with tv area with sofa and tables etc. I paid extra as I wanted 4 of us to stay in same room. Single room with queen/king bed was half price, but I opted to pay for option I wanted/liked.
when I checked in I got one bed and one sofa bed which was uncomfortable, low and small. I went to front desk and spoke to manager, who gave me another option which was split level but same issue one queen and one sofa bed. Language was also problem.
In the end I opted for second option. It was uncomfortable and not what I paid for.
Breakfast was below par rather poor.
Room service was ok
Front desk service was poor. I requested to call cab at checkout and lady on front desk declined with some stupid reason (cannot use hotel phone)

We liked everything! Location is ideal to walk to World Heritage sites. Breakfast is good enough for my children to wake up early! Staff were wondefully helpful esp housekeeper Moon, frontdesk Kenny and cafe server Maria. Our deluxe room was a duplex! Best hotel bed ever.... our second time here is testimony that the Metropole Hotel is fantastic!

This hotel is only after your money and cares nothing about you as a person. My wife ran into an unexpected issue at the Macau border and could not enter the city. Expedia agreed that the circumstances were unusual and beyond our control, but the hotel simply rejected any idea of any refund for any of the 13 days of the booking. Shame on you. Next time we are in Macau, guess where we will stay? Not at Metropole.

Hotel has good location.
With a 15 minute walking radius and the good cool weather, one can visit Ruins of St Paul, Senado Square, Mount Fortress, Lazarus district, Penha Hill, Nam Van Lake ,the old town around Rua da Tercenta.
For tourist, staying at Macau side is best option
as it near all these attractions and within walking distance.
A lot of choice for food too within this radius.

Location was good, walking distance to the historical part of Macau. Shuttle service from ferry terminal was not obvious and frequent (granted this hotel is not as big, new or as frequented as the other ones) but nevertheless, not inconvenient to get to. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Metropole Hotel has been around forever. And I must have been upgraded because the room was quite nice. It was decorated in a French style. The hotel's location is great. it's just a couple minute walk to the Senado, the public square, containing colonial style buildings. Grand Lisboa hotel/casino is about a 7 minute walk and Wynn Macau about 15 minutes. Partial breakfast buffet cost MOP53. US$ = MOP8.

A great hotel.It is easy to get to and located near Macao's shopping and entertainment district. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the hotel is within easy walking distance of many great restaurants and tourist sites. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend the Metropole Hotel and plan on staying there during all my trips to Macao.

The location of the hotel is very convenient to all of the sites on the Peninsula. Getting a taxi outside is also quite easy. The main issue I had with the hotel is that we were in a smoking room. I'm not sure if there are non-smoking rooms, but even so the hall ways have a strong smoke smell. The room wasn't quite as strong, but you could still smell it. Also they are doing some work on one of the elevators so there was only one very slow elevator working for the entire building and noisy construction started at 8am. Breakfast was okay, but got very crowded so best to go early. The staff was helpful when we asked questions.

Baby crib was not available as reserved. Staff was helpful in gering one the following night.
Checkout service was archaic. One must have luggage out, room keys returned, all rooms inspected before checkout bill would be processed. Counter person this time was clueless about service, could not explain reasons for this policy in English or Chinese.
Of the 4 rooms that we stayed in, one room had a bed sheet that came with a blue stain. On checkout, it was deemed soiled and a cleaning charge of MOP200 was charged. While waived after some spirited explanation, it left a very bad impression as my party left the city.

Hotel did provided shuttle bus from Ferry terminal. But the bus quite small and not famous as others casino bus, need some time to wait.
the staff not really helpful and they dont even smile, always showing a \"fierce\" face
the location is really good, 10min toRuins of St. Paul's, 5min to Senado Square and ~10min to Lisboa Casino
you can find others free hotel bus stand nearby as well

Best location for good food!

Great location, near to Wynn hotel, Macau tower, walking distance to Senado square, Ruin of St Paul and many good eating place. For Portugese food, must go to Escada Restaurant and Ou Mun Cafe which are 5-10min walk. Hotel has a cafe at level1, surprising good, never eaten such nice instant noodle, seem popular tea break place for local. Bus-stop and taxi stand nearby. You can make use of shuttle bus of Grand Empire hotel too.

One of best locations on Macau Peninsula

Although Metropole is as old as the hills, it enjoys a great location on Macau Peninsula. It's near the popular Senota Square and within walking distance of several casinos. Grand Lisboa is the closest.

The room was older, but clean, and had no view. The room was small but not too tiny. It was probably updated within the last decade.

Breakfast was a semi-buffet and was fairly cheap. You ordered a main course and then had your choice of other dishes on the buffet table.

It's not so much that the room itself was bad in terms of function. It's more the fact that I asked for a nonsmoking from and when I got into my room, it was immediately apparent that the room used to be a smoking one and it reeked. Aside from that though, the hotel is well situated between the old Portuguese area and the newer area with the large casinos. It's very easy to catch public transit and go anywhere on the island. Would I stay here again? probably.

The location of the hotel is just next to the tourist attraction within 10 mins walk. Very convenient. Staff are overall helpful. Shuttle bus is there at pier though the frequency is not as high as other casinos.

Adequate but need major improvements

This hotel has seen much better days. Scruffy bathroom (clean, but you can tell it needs some deep cleaning), carpet feels dirty to step on if you are not wearing slippers; bedsheets have stains on them (overall clean, but even small stains should not be acceptable). Most importantly, staff wasn't helpful. The guy manning the front desk at night was actually very nice; the ones working during the day are rather terrible. When the bell boy is friendlier than the hotel front desk I think there's a problem. Won't be staying here if I come to Macau again, but this was a good budget hotel and truthfully speaking, it was comfortable enough for a short stay. So don't let my review turn you off, but do be prepared!

The hotel is at a quite good location, scenic spots like the Ruin of St Paul's Church, Grand Lisboa, Macau Museum, Garden of the Surrounding of Monte Fort, etc. are all nearby. You can easily find the right bus to everywhere. The room is non-smoking and clean, and service is also good, the servants are always smiling at you.

A good location hotel.

We toke a morning 6am flight and reached the hotel at 10am something. We Approached the counter staff and was told to move to next counter which is for check-in. When we moved to the next counter, we were told straight by the gentleman that we could only check in at 2pm. While we understand that this is the hotel's policy, but the counter staff didn't even bother to check if there were any available room. We were very disappointed with such unfriendly attitude of the hotel counter staff.
