The room was large and quiet at night. The bed was very comfortable and enormous and there was also a comfy settee from which we could watch tv. It had a nice balcony looking down to the sea. Excellent breakfast.

My husband and I recently visited Malta for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and our 5-night stay at the Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were incredibly pleasant and welcoming, even taking the time to personally show us how to get to the different areas and our room.

I was blown away by the effort the team put into making my birthday special. They surprised us by decorating our room with balloons, decorations and providing a delicious cake! It was such a thoughtful touch that made the trip feel extra special.

We opted for a room with a private hot tub, and it was worth every penny. After exploring Malta on chilly February evenings, coming back to a hot soak under the stars was a dream. Every morning, I sat on the balcony to watch the sunrise over the beautiful ocean views, what a peaceful way to start the day.

Facilities & Location
The hotel’s amenities are great:
We loved ending our busy days in the indoor pool, sauna, and steam room.

Convenience: The location is ideal. It’s right near a main bus stop and very easy for Bolt taxis to find.

While we chose to eat out, there are so many excellent restaurants just a short walk away.

The only minor suggestion I have would be to add a water fountain in the gym facility. However, this didn't take away from our experience, as it’s clear the staff truly pay attention to their guests' needs.

The staff were helpful and polite and the room was clean and tidy.

However we were not told about the bar indoors near Reception being closed. We knew in advance some pools and outdoor bars would be closed, but this meant that there were no facilities for us to sit in and relax. We did have one coffee in the reception area and this was nice.

The outside bar on the opposite side of the street which was part of the hotel, was closed when we visited, and just presumed this was because it was January and therefore quiet.

The gym and indoor pool were good and we would definitely come back to this hotel. It’s relaxing in Winter and I’m sure it’s just as nice in Summer.

Staff was very nice and the room was clean with all the amenities provided, they also decorated the room for our anniversary which was very nice of them. The hotel breakfast was also amazing and much better value for money then any surrounding places. There is a bus stop and several taxis right outside the hotel.
The bathroom door was quite awkward and wouldn't close fully. There is also a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms since they are quite close together.

The room was very clean and spotless, and the bottle of wine and coffee and tea facilities were excellent.
We had a couple of minor issues with the room, which were quickly sorted out after informing reception.
The aircon could have been better, as it struggled to keep the room to the preferred temperature during the night, and was very noisy when turned up.Great location, great facilities on site 🙂

The behaviour of the desk staff was appalling, characterised by poor communication and a lack of professionalism.

The only employee who demonstrated an understanding of hospitality was Lady Libby, who I believe was the guest relations officer. We had a positive experience at Maritime last year, which is why we decided to return to this hotel. However, we were deeply disappointed by the unacceptable behaviour of the front desk staff towards us.

Very expensive for what you get.

The room they gave us was one floor up from the main street. We stayed 4 nights. There was construction on the street beneath us, beginning early in the morning. We asked for a room change 3 days without success. Also, the AC in the room did not work. We were told it was not working in the whole hotel. I would not recommend at all. It was very expensive for too many inconveniences, without any compensation from the hotel.

Our stay at this hotel was spoiled by having our room downgraded on arrival. Although we booked and paid for a double room with a balcony we ended up with an dingy economy room without a balcony or anywhere to sit except the bed. All we got in compensation was an apology and some vouchers to use in the buffet dining hall (which only used a couple of times, as not much of a dining experience). So be warned. Might be worth calling the hotel to check they have your room before travelling. The room was bad enough that we ended up cutting our holiday short.

For the aforementioned reason we would not choose to stay at this hotel again. However the area around the hotel feels safe and there are numerous eating options available close by. Food and drink prices were surprisingly reasonable even in the hotel. The hotel's Italian restaurant is very good and the staff there are excellent. There is also a sports bar linked to the hotel across the road from the lobby where you can get food from the hotel and watch a choice of sports channels. Staff again very friendly and helpful.

The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk downhill along the main road and is quite busy when you get there. There are also public buses you can catch either way if you don't fancy the walk back (uphill) or if you want to explore the island. The were sunbeds at the hotel's pools but there is limited space for a large hotel so a bit crowded in with other guests for my liking and we were not in high season.

Upon arriving at the hotel in the evening, we discovered that there were no rooms available for us in the two rooms we'd booked months in advance. This was very disappointing! We spent our first night at the Best Western, a 15-minute drive away. Our hotel compensated for this inconvenience by offering us a free breakfast. The next day, we get a room, and because it was my birthday, a surprise awaited me in the room: a beautifully decorated bed, a cookie, and wine. This completely stole my heart.
The guests were mostly elderly. The rooms facing the street were a bit noisy. The pools were great. The breakfast was excellent. Be careful with the parking lot. The entrance was very dangerous, only for experienced drivers and small cars.

Worst stay of out month long trip. Room 514 was claustrophobic with a small window looking out to a building with a hot air vent blowing upward. Smelled of mold. Had to access room from another building. Two elevators and a walk underground through a moldy smelling tunnel. Bathroom was good, Fridge was ok. Bed ok. Desk staff was curt and unfriendly. Should have asked for another room for the price point.

Great location for public transport. Room was quite small for 2 people including luggage but we really only used it to sleep in so managed fine. It was cleaned everyday to some degree including fresh towels. Plenty of food options within walking distance. The adults only pool area was great. Breakfast had lots to choose from. We were quite impressed that our room was cleaned everyday, the staff even folded our clothes neatly - we didn't leave any clothes lying around after this because we felt we were giving them extra work. The receptionists were very attentive.

The rooftop restaurant had fantastic views - a bit pricey but we ate there twice because of the view.

Our only concern is that the pool towels smelled a bit funky, i think because the wet towels are left for a while before being laundered but you can always bring your own towels if you want.

Pool could be improved to be more child friendly - it was mostly deep so the children did not have a lot of space. No slides or anything like that.

Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of selection and always topped up. Tables cleared efficiently.

It's near mellieha bay which is our most favoured beach (we liked this more than golden bay) very clear water and no rocks!

It's also near popeye village which is great.

Overall very lovely stay for the price we paid (this was cheaper than other hotels but the quality and service was great) it's definitely worth it.

We stay here often. This time we had a lovely garden room on the 6th floor. This floor has been recently refurbished and really nice.
The staff on the roof bar / restaurant were really friendly but unfortunately every time we ordered something it was never correct. We thought maybe this person was new… but seemed to not understand even when I pointed at menu.
All in all a great stay.

Average stay. Think four star is pushing it - more in the realms of a nice three star. Balcony view incredible, room clean enough but the interior is dated and requires a revamp. Reception staff nagging each other when checking in - pretty unprofessional and stared us off on a weird vibe. Lobby is lovely. Room had a weird smell to it kind of care home like (?) don’t know how to describe it. For what we paid and one night in Mellieha - it was more than adequate. Unsure if I’d be so happy if it was for a week.

Perfect for a quiet holiday

The hotel is great , staff are lovely and helpful. It’s perfect if you want a very quiet holiday without leaving the hotel much as It’s a comfortable and clean hotel with lovely rooftop pool to relax.
The only negative is that it’s quite isolated which I hadn’t realised so we spent a lot on travel taxis etc.

Not a relaxing or enjoyable trip. Hotel very noisy due to size, 4 out of 6 nights I was woken by either the fire alarm going off or power cuts (when power restored tv would come on and wake you up). Staff weren’t friendly, particularly at breakfast. No allocated parking, you have to find your own up the road.

We love the Maritim and we have stayed there over 15 times. The hotel has a number of different rooms and we are always quite specific about the rooms we like, our rom on this visit was a nice room however not the usual type of room we like, the bed was very hard and I didn't sleep well throughout the night.
The Air con was switched to warm which was quite uncomfortable, the hotel did change this after being asked a couple of times. The staff are wonderfull at the hotel, the food at Al Ponte is excellent and worthy competition for the other restaurants in the village. we look forward to returning to the Maritim next year.

It is a nice hotel. Nit a firework, but good for the money I paid. Room was small but comfortable , with a nice view, cleaning exceptional, good breakfast. It is far away from the most attraction. You need more than an hour to get anywhere. I did not realise then booked.
Swimming pool on top was not heated. The small covers one invaded with kids lumping on your head / no supervision at all.
I had one masssge with CBD 75 minutes - supurb!

We got a terrible room, very old and nothing worked there, no heating,nor plug working, flasher broken, tv on the wall sticking out,where easy you can hit your head , view awful, very noisy outside as they were refurbishing rooms. Everything was closed temporarily,bar,restaurants,jaccuzzi didn’t work for three days we were there. Next day we were meant to change the room, no one called to ask us if we ok,let us know if and which room we should go to. We were calling reception to keep asking and chasing re the room change. As came just for 3 nights, we wanted to go out, but no one bothered to speed up the process, kept getting answers they are looking if any room available. We wasted half day waiting for the update. Terrible service, terrible hotel. We asked for some more water, they answered only first day we get complimentary water. Never apologised for inconvenience re the room we got , at least give us some water ,no joke. Would not recommend the hotel, definitely not 4,5* hotel. Big let down wa the accommodation unfortunately, luckily Malta is beautiful,so we still managed to enjoy our short break.

Lovely wellness facilities which have recently been renovated. The hotel has an Italian themed restaurant that serves great tasting food and opposite the main block of the hotel is the 120 bar an English style pub also serving food. Again staff friendly and always accommodating your needs where possible. A great stay in a beautiful hotel that you won't forget

What we didnt like: room was on the bottom floor so no sun all day. The staff preparation for the day took place just above us and was very noisy from 6am every day. Trolleys rolling, furniture scraping on the floor etc.

Despite being platinum Expedia members, we didn't get a room upgrade. Which is fine if the hotel was fully booked. Although I doubt it was due to it being off season. Plus, we were put in the worst room in the hotel. Basically what felt like a basement room. Right above a noisy bar. Which kept us awake most nights with music and people shouting. The room was directly attached to another room which had a flimsy cupboard style door between us. You could hear everything from the neighbours. Even if they were simply breathing. Room key card kept breaking and the walk to reception was very long to get it fixed each time. We were in what felt like another building across the road from the main building. The staff were rude when I asked why it kept happening and blamed us for storing the key card next to our phones etc. Which we weren't. You could hear doors slamming all the time. The room was also very musty and the AC broke. All in all, this hotel paints itself as quite luxurious, but it's a 3 star at max. If you're looking for a quiet stay somewhere look elsewhere.

Property was excellent staff very helpful only critism was the cocktail bar not open that twice I have stayed at this hotel and it wasn't open not everyone wants to go on the roof for a cocktail and drink
