Room was spacious and comfortable, but the kitchenette was tiny... a bit more bench space would be good.
No tea or coffee supplied, but it was good to have the facility to cook if we didn't feel like eating out.
Shower was excellent, wi-fi was good, staff were very accommodating. Location one street back from the foreshore, walking distance to many restaurants and the beach.

I can't give this hotel enough stars. The staff are the very best I've ever come across. Our daughter who lives in Malta became unwell when we visited her and the staff went out of their way to help us and arrange for us to extend our stay. The hotel is modern, well appointed, well serviced, welcoming and the staff are happy and always helpful. I am so glad I got to stay here.

The hotel was very good value (Feb) and is in a good location with many rooms with sea view. A parade of shops nearby and plentiful bus services nearby

All staff were really nice and friendly

I upgraded to include breakfast and this was good

Room was ok but the bed itself was dreadful. Very hard and also lots of springs. At night the room was very cold but the air con is above the bed and keeping that on gives you a sore throat. For these reasons my sleep each night was awful sadly which was main reason for lowering points

Also whilst the hotel doesn’t run its own shuttle but provides an option where you can book shuttles to support visiting the island. Sadly for us it was a bit of a shambles

We were visiting Mdina and we went to Valetta. The driver forgot to drop us at Mdina so then took us back and gave us all a time for the return which didn’t correspond with the published time and the time was neither, we waited an hour! We messaged the shuttle provider who frankly didn’t care.

Another day we went to the nice fishing village and the driver was saying so many accidents as various roads were closed. Passengers on the shuttle knew there was a marathon that day which seemed to completely escape the shuttle provider

Give me a nice bed in summer season and a decent shuttle and I would go back

Overall a wonderful and very comfortable stay in the Luna, the only thing that was a little annoying was the hot tub on the roof was cold, I’m unsure if it’s just a time of year thing or what but that working would’ve made the experience 100000% perfect!

cleaning service was only available every other day. meaning no fresh towels daily. asked the cleaning staff and hotel reception who refused to give us clean towels, even after we explained that our clean towels were on the bathroom floor. They provided small kids beach towels.

The bathroom has an odd sewer smell and the shower was so small you couldn’t move. the shower curtain doesn’t block out any water so the water goes everywhere, hence why we had to put our bath towels on the floor. The shower head was rusty and only a little bit of water comes out. the shower head fell off one night when we were having showers.

The air conditioning was horrible. Little to no air comes out even when the temperature was set at 16 degrees. It is impossible to sleep when it’s 40 degrees outside and the air conditioning doesn’t work. the room was disgustingly hot all the time, even with the air conditioning running.

We are extremely disappointed that this hotel was so horrible considering the price and the advertising on the internet. It was extremely expensive considering the poor facilities. We traveled around Malta for a month and stayed in multiple hotels. This was one of the most expensive hotels we paid for and the facilities were so much better in other places.

The only good thing about this hotel was the location as it was a 5 minute walk from the beach but it does not outweigh the poor quality rooms. Would not recommend staying here

Clean hotel with good service. I liked that one of the outdoor pools was mainly in the shade as it was very hot during August.

Overall the hotel is good and pretty well located, near beach, few restaurants and it also has its own mini market for groceries. We could buy food there and cook ourselves. Reception staff is very helpful.
The beach of ghadira is among best in malta. Water is shallow and convenient for small kids.
Only problem we had with the hotel, the room was not cleaned daily. One day they just replaced towels while floor needed an urgent cleaning. They didn't even do the beds. The next time it was done properly.

Great stay in a great location

A fantastic base for our holiday, a short walk from some great bars and restaurants, near the beach and right by bus stops connecting to the rest of the island and the departure point for boat tours to Gozo and Comino. Rooftop pool was great, though a shame that it was completely closed on Sunday due to a thunderstorm in the morning (the weather the rest of the day was lovely!).

Lovely time at the Luna

Stayed with another couple for one week, Hotel is conveniently situated close to the beach, ideal for bus routes to get to the rest of the island and local boat trips. Hotel was very clean with friendly and helpful staff. Rooftop pool and bar with stunning views, where you can get great cocktails and varied tasty menu.

The property was in a good location and well maintained. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

The room was a good size clean and had everything we needed. A safe would of been nice to have.

The view was great and the pools nice. The down side was the sky lounge which looked amazing and was good service to get a drink but we booked dinner for there and when we turned up got no food service, just a really good bar service so went down to the walkable restaurants for dinner instead.

Overall, our stay was just eh.

The hotel itself was nice and the wait staff at the restaurant were so sweet and extremely helpful. Our room however was not the greatest. The air conditioner in the room didn’t work. The ceiling above the shower was so low, my 6ft husband had to bend over to wash his hair. The shower leaked all over the bathroom for which they had a drain in the floor; however, the drain smelled like sewage and that is all you could smell as soon as you opened the door. The bed was as hard as a rock. We called a week in advance to book an airport transfer, but when we arrived at the airport no one was there for us. We called the hotel to find out what happened and they gave us the number for the taxi company. The taxi company said that there was never a ride scheduled for us. The actual hotel was nice, but the rooms could definitely use an update!

Bad for public transport

They promised \"Free Wifi\" but wifi was available only in the lobby. I paid more for wifi access in room. And the wifi was really crappy -- it kept disconnecting and was annoyingly slow at times.

The bus stops next to the hotels are closed temporarily (for a few months I guess) for some road work. So, we had to walk around 15 minutes to \"Skrajda\", the nearest bus stop.

The \"beach\" next to hotel is not great either.

The hotel rooms were pretty good and the reception staff were courteous. The hotel had a really good indoor swimming pool.

The most unwelcoming Hotel we've ever stayed in! The attitude of the staff is deplorable. A self catering room (with kitchenette) that does not provide dish soap or dish cloths is ridiculous. Who travels with dish soap and cloths.The front staff just tells you to go out and buy them in the rudest way possible. They have valuated all of the furniture in the room at 5 times the cost of the cheap stuff. You have to pay extra for almost everything including WiFi and Pool Towels. The location is the ONLY thing going for this place. I wasted 3 free nights on this place and still felt ripped off.

This was our first time in a self catering resort so we weren’t sure what to expect so the review is a reflection of this. Overall, we had a great holiday and would recommend Luna Complex.

Pros
- Great value for money, we paid approx £30 per night.
- Good location with a 5 to 10 minute walk to beach and other great beaches such as Paradise Bay were close by. We had a car which I recommend for seeing the island with ease.
- A small variety of restaurants were at a walkable distance so you weren’t confined to the resorts facilities.
- Couple of local mini marts that sold a good variety of products.
- The compact kitchen met our needs for breakfast and preparing lunch.
- Friendly staff.
- Good cleanliness level. Rooms were cleaned every other day.
- Easy to park. Beware of high curbs when opening car door!
- Good view of Church from balcony. But much like a lot of Malta, poor town planning meant this sat alongside unattractive apartment buildings ruining the vista.
- Blocked drains fixed quickly.

Cons:
- Additional fee for WiFi in rooms. (Free in reception).
- Hairdryer charged at additional cost.
- No complimentary water, toiletries or cleaning products for kitchen.
- Would ideally have liked room to be cleaned daily as being on a beach holiday meant it was unavoidable to have grains of sand everywhere.
- Noisy, ineffective air con unit.
- When we drew Receptions attention to our shower that kept flooding the bathroom, they repaired this for our return but had not

Potentially this is very good hotel, with the roof top pool giving an idea of what it could be. Unfortunately, the hotel management seen to be content with minimal room facilities. No free Wi-Fi in the room and tired, dated kitchenette. However, the staff were very friendly & helpful.

We did put our employee to stay at Luna hotel in Mellieha, once she came to the office next morning she told us there was cockroaches in bathroom. I would highly recommend this hotel not to be used for business trips.

Room was tidy and clean on arrival but I never used housekeeping services during my stay.
I think there are too many extra (hidden) charges which should be included in the room standard. Examples are FREE WIFI which is not really free, you need to pay extra for using wifi in the room. Safety deposit box in the room - you need to pay a daily charge for using it? still when paid the hotel is not taking any liability for theft etc. so the charges are pointless.
Also, there is no complimentary drinks, like tea, coffee, bottled water which should be included in the room rate.

Fantastic value for money. No complaints at all. Great location. Convenient short stroll to mellieha bay. Near bus stop. Luna is kept very clean . We had the economy room yet it was spacious and had everything needed for a short self catered stay. Only thing that wasnt great was air conditioner but it wasnt overly hot. Hotel charged extra sofa that ought to be incl'd

When we booked a room for the end of the season 2017, the room sleeping 4 persons was offered at price of X a night. There was no mentioning of any \"extra guest fee\" being charged by the Luna hotel for a sofa added to the single twin bed, whilst the room had been advertised having twin beds sleeping four guests. That extra fee finally made the room more expensive than some Expedia competitors offered it and even Luna on their home page a few hours before our booking. We asked Expedia, therefore, to reimburse us for the extra charge, which we asked also in view of Expedia's own claim of its \"price guarantee\".
Expedia refused to reimburse us for that difference and did not go after Luna, either.
In this respect, we have bad memories with the hotel stay.

The room was very clean on arrival. We found everything what we needed for self catering. Good to have both options for meals. Good supermarket downstairs. The hotel is closed to the beach. Good top roof sunbathing area, if the swimming pool was hitted it would attract more visitors during winter. It also would leave us with better experience if towels were of better quality and room was cleaned every other day during our stay. Overall, good price and good experience. Thank you.

Everything about this hotel met our expectations, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, close to beach, we were self catering and used the restaurant on only one occasion but we all enjoyed our meal and would certainly eat there again.
We are a family of 3 and our daughter was 3 years old at the time of our visit.

We have just got back from a week staying at Luna and really enjoyed staying there. The hotel was clean and every member of staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was a good size and included everything we needed, I was impressed with the power of the shower and the amount of crockery provided. The location was perfect with only a short walk to the brilliant beach, it was also very close to several bus links which made it easy to get around the country. There were also several restaurants and the great mini-market nearby for all food needs. The in house restaurant was good quality and we enjoyed several evenings of live music which was an added extra. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend and come back to Luna if we came again to Malta. Thank you for contributing to our brilliant holiday.

The Penthouse Suite

We booked this as we were struggling to find an available 2 bedroom apartment at short notice close to where our daughter lives in Mellieha with a large terrace where the 4 of us could sit and eat together, plus have a nice pool and aircon. It was quite expensive but the few pictures on the website looked quite good. On arrival we were surprised to find that we needed to pay about 8 Euros per day extra if we wanted WIFI for all 4 of us and we needed to pay another 2 Euros per day to use the safe box in the apartment, which was so small it would only hold passports and a couple of small purses. The lobby and corridors in the complex are not air conditioned and it is a long walk in hot dingy narrow corridors and small lift to get from the apartment to the lobby and the roof pool. The apartment is quite nice with a good size terrace which gets full sun from sunrise to sunset and has great views of Mellieha bay in all directions. Unfortunately, there are no sun awnings / canopies so we had to ask for two parasols, which were barely adequate. One day it was windy and a member of staff came up and tied up the parasols and said we could not use them. So if you have a windy spell during your stay you will have no shade from the sun on the terrace. The beds are very hard.
The roof top pool is pleasant but quite small and very busy with families. The pool bar is actually on a terrace below the pool and often is not staffed. There are no laundry facilities at all in the complex.

nice middle class hotel at the beach

I had a studio with a kitchenette, balcony was to the street. the furniture was simple, but not too bad, the shower was very small, but for three stars, this is all very well. My stay was for three nights, in this time, there was no cleaning.
All in all , it was a very nice stay - you have restaurants, a mini market and a vending machine inside the hotel, you have free wifi in the lobby and nice, modern pool. The receptionists were very helpful an friendly.

We thought we booked a hotel and came to a complex with no hotel standard. We stayed for 4 days. The room was not cleaned, because that was done only once a week. The towels where changed only every second day. We had to pay extra for aircondition and wifi was only free in the reseption.
We will never come back!

Great hotel, good value!

Great Hotel in Mellieha. Staff was helpful and the manager of the hotel was great. Clean rooms, 3 minute walk from a beautiful beach. Good bus connections 100m from the hotel. Pools were clean and the hotel areas was overall very good. Free wifi in the reception area. The hotel has a big minimarket with everything you need. The beds were not the most comfortable, but it was okay. Several restaurants down the street. Zefferinos restaurant is a must, best food in town! It takes about 30 minutes from the hotel to the airport by taxi (30 euros). Bus takes about 1 hour to the airport (you need to change bus once). Bus is very cheap - 1.5 Euros for a whole day pass! From the hotel it takes about 1h with bus to Valetta. From the hotel it takes about 15 minutes by bus to get to the ferry port who takes you to the blue lagoon and to Gozo Island. Ferry was 4.65 Euros and took about 20 minutes. Gozo is a must, the capital Rabat/Victoria in Gozo is very beautiful. Good bus connections in Gozo to. Recommended hotel!

We booked a standard studio apartment which was quite basic. I wish now we had upgraded on our arrival. A large family was staying on our floor and the children (and the adults sometimes) were running screaming in the corridor and banging doors early in the morning and late at night. It ruined our stay a bit. The sea view was narrow but good. We had a room over the pool with awful piped music until late in the evening.

The bed linen was very poor and only changed once a week. The towels were also old and a washed out but changed every 2 days.

The staff were lovely. They were cheerful and helpful at all times.

I probably wouldn't go back

I had a good-sized studio with two single beds and a balcony. Unfortunately the bed mattresses were quite uncomfortable - I ended up putting all the covering from both beds on one so I could sleep without feeling the springs underneath. The balcony faced onto a very busy road and the room took the full force of the sun all day long. That would have been okay if the aircon was any good but I had it on full blast to little effect, despite the amount of noise it made. The other option was to sleep with the ranchslider open, but the traffic noise kept waking me up and it just got too hot to sleep soundly. The hotel was generally quite hot and stuffy,but had free wifi in the reception/bar areas and a good mini market. My studio had full kitchen facilities so I used those rather than eat in the hotel restaurant or elsewhere, which was a much cheaper option. You have to pay 6 euros a day to use the hotel's main pool but the rooftop pool was free. Malta's main sandy beach is nearby but it's predictably busy and the two times I swam there I was stung by jellyfish - it was worth making the effort to find more out-of-the-way bays. Overall, it didn't compare well to holidays I've had in Greece but there was no complaints about the constant sunshine...

Great location on a budget

More like 3 star on one side (sea side view) and half a star on the other which is where we were put. The location was great, but our room made the travel logde look like a five star hotel. To have a TV in the room cost extra, more towels cost extra. The room never got cleaned. The room was most uninspiring to go back to after a beautiful day out. We had a self contained room, I do not recommend these rooms.

The hotel was fine and very close to the beach. It was early in the season when we went to Malta so Mellieha was a little sleepy, but it was relaxing. The hotel is good, but I doubt if I'll ever return to Malta.

Luna hotel complex in Mellieha

Luna was definetely worth of money. Near the biggest beach in Malta and still not too touristic place. Also the food in the hotels restaurant was delicious.

very basic accommodation

Room clean but very basic - no mattress covers and terrible pillows. Pool area very small for the number of rooms and some days unable to get a sunbed or umbrella. Staff very friendly and pool side snack bar food good. Wouldn't go back but if you don't mind grabbing a sunbed at 9o'clock in the morning and not moving then this is for you !

Had a great time

The hotel is in a great location, at the bottom of the hill which leads to the main town of Melliha, the view is lovely. There is a roof top pool which is stunning. There is also another pool downstairs, a games room, etc. It is very close to the beach and a few local cafes, restaurants and a bar or two. There is also a very good supermarket about 10-15 min walk away. Unfortunately our beds weren't very comfortable and our blankets were itchy but the apartment was lovely apart from that, great kitchen area, nice little balcony and good bathroom. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The cafe in the main reception does yummy cheap food. We went off season so the other restaurants in the complex weren't open. Fantastic holiday!

Comfort. Bon rapport qualité prix.

Ne conseille pas la demi pension. Il vaut mieux manger à la carte au snack piscine.
Très bon accueil à la réception. Hôtel près de la plage Ghadira. Arrêt de bus devant l’hôtel pour se rendre à Valletta ou Cirkewa. Piscine réservée aux adultes et piscine familiale séparée. Deux jacuzzi sur le toit.

Wenn ich in den Urlaub fahre erwarte ich eigentlich einen täglichen room Service und nicht nur 3 x die Woche. Es ist gar nicht notwendig immer alle Handtücher auszuwechseln, in anderen Hotels gilt immer : was auf dem Boden liegt wird gewechselt. Aber hier wurde immer alles gewechselt. Das Frühstück war jeden Morgen dasselbe und Müsli leider nur Fertigprodukte und immer die gleichen 2 Sorten Joghurt. Abendessen die ganze Woche dasselbe Gemüse, wenigstens beim Fleisch und Fisch wurde abgewechselt. Aber geschmeckt hat alles sehr gut. Das Servicepersonal sowohl an der Rezeption als auch im Speisesaal,war sehr freundlich und stets hilfsbereit. Der Ausblick von unserem Balkon war auch nicht so schön, dafür von unserer Dachterasse mega schön. Er war sehr sauber.

La struttura si presenta bene, ha una bella hall, una bella piscina eccetera ma le camere monolocale standard non sono allo stesso livello. Il bagno è vecchio, il wc non scaricava bene e perdeva con conseguente puzza. la doccia non aveva il miscelatore, non si poteva regolare l'altezza del doccino e il doccino aveva un getto a schizzo perché pieno di calcare.il cucinino funzionale anche se molto piccolo

La struttura è' bella ed in una buona posizione, le camere un po' vecchiotte ed in particolare il bagno sarebbe da ristrutturare. Siamo in alta stagione ma per il prezzo pagato le camere avrebbero dovuto essere più confortevoli e quantomeno con colazione inclusa

Für den günstigen Preis, den wir bezahlt haben, war das Hotel hervorragend. Das absolute Highlight war der Pool auf dem Dach, der ausschließlich für Erwachsene zugänglich war. Die Zimmer waren ebenfalls sehr gut. Zudem gab es hervorragende Busverbindungen in fast alle Städte.

Zu den Nachteilen: Ein Mitarbeiter an der Bar am Pool war extrem unmotiviert und unfreundlich. Manchmal wurden wir von ihm einfach nicht bedient oder er weigerte sich, Bestellungen aufzunehmen.

Zur Umgebung: Das einzige, was es dort wirklich gibt, ist der Strand und einige Wasseraktivitäten wie Bootstouren und Jetski. Diese sind jedoch in drei Tagen abgehakt, sodass man in die umliegenden Städte fahren müsste. Das Essen in der Umgebung war für uns eine echte Katastrophe. Jedes Restaurant bot Pizza, Burger, Nudeln, Fisch und Fleisch an. Die Qualität der Gerichte lässt sich daher leicht erahnen.

Preis-Leistung war super. Armaturen im Badezimmer sollte erneuert werden. Z. B. Wasserhahn mit Mischbatterie - aktuell ein Wasserhahn für kalt und einer für heisst. Dennoch würde ich das Hotel empfehlen.. Kleiner Supermarkt mit im Hotel ist sehr praktisch. Frühstück ist gut. Gibt auf Nachfrage auch glutenfreies Brot zum Frühstück. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Das Personal war jederzeit super freundlich.
Das Frühstücksbuffer war leider nur \"okay\".
Die Betten waren sehr hart und mein Badezimmer wurde nie gereinigt, nur das Zimmer.
Dennoch ein insgeheim schöner Aufenthalt und dir Lage ist auch super.

Très bien

Très agréable séjour avec une mention spéciale à Ahmed à l acceuil, très compétant, très agréable et au service des clients.
Coté restauration bonne nourriture mais le service à table peut être amélioré (mettre les couverts,..).
Les équipements du spa inclus c est top.
