Room small but clean, bed comfortable, shower hot, room service everyday. Facilities very good(although outdoor pool very cold, it was February and a few pieces of equipment in the gym didn't work). Drinks reasonable(2 for 1 cocktails between 1800 - 2030). Didn't eat food in hotel, so can't give recommendations(although it did look a little pricey). No entertainment. Would definitely go back for 2/3/4 nights stay but not any longer as not a lot to do in the surrounding area which is set on a hill.The hotel is built over 2 buildings, but once you get used to the lifts, its fair easy to get around.

Reception staff were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. Breakfast was lovely (just a shame there weren’t pancakes everyday for the kids). Room really clean, excellent size. Pools and spa facilities spotless. The area is lovely, quieter than the main areas of Malta but still plenty of lovely restaurants nearby and nice beaches. Overall amazing stay.

An amazing stay from start to finish. Minor issues were sorted quickly. Minor gripe was the kitchen in our room could do with refreshment. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good and very reasonably priced.

I’m not very impressed with this hotel . Firstly I waited 40 mins to check in , only one person on reception . The shower head wouldn’t stay attached to the wall and on the hottest day they never put the AC on in the rooms . The food was ok but very overpriced bottles of wine for what was only cheap local wine . When the AC was on it was leaking water by the entrance door , so I had to put a towel down so as not to slip in the night . There was no separate cafe area , so it was only the very noisy and cramped pool bar . Not very impressed . Wouldn’t stay again especially the over priced room I had which was tiny and no view .

A lovely family stay at the Pergola in Melleha. This is a perfect location to explore Malta, close to shops and lots of great restaurants. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and the ac was a little temperamental and the furnishing dated but it was spacious and great for a family of four. Lovely pool, service and friendly staff.

Hotel was fine - pool areas always very busy and not enough loungers. Some had reserved names on but no one told us how we could do that. Hotel is over 2 buildings so we had to keep going in lots of different lifts to move around. Room fine quite standard but the air con was quite low and didn’t cool as well as newer venues.

Room was clean but well used so I’m not sure how clean it really gets. It was always a bit moist in there,
I guess that’s the tropical air or something. But any clothes we washed/bathing suits, were wet for days and we could only wash and dry properly them when we got to Paris. I guess that’s why they offer a laundry service for a fee. It would have helped if the A/C was stronger in our room. The pool was great! Music on from 10am to 10pm with a great view from our room, overlooking the pool and Mellieha Bay. However, the drinks in the cave bar were wildly overpriced. 9€ for a Spritz! I had one, then went to the store and bought 3 of the for that price. Lots of amenities around. Convenience stores and restaurants a plenty.

The hotel is good overall. The rooms were clean, but the furniture is a bit outdated. The door to the balcony did not close properly. Very small TV without smart functions (no Netflix etc).
Paid parking available, but should be reserved in advance. Good selection at breakfast, the orange juice could be better.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel!

The hotel is run down, furniture in the room in need of a upgrade. Uncomfortable beds and really poor quality linens. The shower was cold, the fridge did not work, the balcony door did not lock. The bathroom was dirty, I put a towel on the counter by the sink and it was so dirty when I picked it up. Food and drinks at the cave bar not of a very good standard.
Hotel staff seemed a little rude and unprofessional, tried to charge me for my stay when I had already paid through hotels.com.
The hotel is advertised as 4 star, it's no more than a 2 star.

Nice Hotel, but not the economy room

Hotel was lovely. Poor area was nice and clean. Cave bar was fine but entertainment only on 2 nights. Cocktails seemed to shrink towards the end of our stay in late October.

We stayed in an economy room, which had a massive bed but too big for the size of the room and not much space to move round it and storage for clothes lacking with only 2 small drawers. Needed less hanging space, more shelves.
Room smelled of damp and mould, although none visible.
Dining room staff at times seemed harrassed at breakfast, in the evening rudely banging cups at 7.30pm while setting up for breakfast while people were still arriving for dinner. Not acceptable.

Food was good, although cakes/desserts were pretty much the same/similar wacv night.

Overall nice hotel pleasant stay. Nice beach at the bottom of the steep hill. You can take a bus uphill, though.

We had a standard 2 bedroom apartment and stayed half board from Oct 25th - Nov 3rd 2024.
The staff at Pergola are fanatastic. There was one particlar woman, who i think was managing the dinining staff, who was amazing and even brought treats for my 11 year old daughter who suffers a severe milk allergy.
We also used the hydro bath massage in the spa, which was complimentary!
This was also lovely!

We had a lovely stay at Pergola.
We did have to flag that we needed toilet roll on a few days and also had to alert staff to clean a neighbouring room food service trays. Also on one day had to flag staff to clean our room. But once alerted, they were incredibly apologetic and sorted it promptly.
Again, great staff.

My only advice would be to update the gym.
The two treadmills are not useable. Also the row machine and bike computers do not work so you cannot set any resistance. The cross trainer did work though and the weights and mats etc are great. Its also a nice space that the gym is located.

I hate to say anything negative, as i did enjoy my stay. I LOVED how spacious the apartment was and we enjoyed the food. It is a lovely hotel.

Cant comment too much on location as we hired a car. There is a beautiful church near by that is worth visiting and a WWII air shelter. Also as it is in Mellieha, it is well serviced by buses going to lots of places such as Valletta or Cirkewwa (port to Gozo).

We stayed at this hotel only one night. Overall it's a good hotel. We had a studio. It's a really large room, maybe the kitchen unit and wardrobe makes it look bit like 3* and not 4*. Breakfast buffet had a good variety. Sauna, gym a indoor pool was open till 11pm, which was good as we were out all day long. I think the best is the view from infinity pool to local area.

Wonderful hotel and amazing staff. I felt pampered from the moment I walked in the door, everyone was smiling and so helpful. My room was beautiful, overlooking the smaller pool and immaculately cleaned. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the beach. But if you don’t feel like walking there is a bus stop across the bridge from the hotel. Cave bar is a must, lovely cocktails and the view is spectacular.

We enjoyed a 2 bedroom suite which was very spacious, if a bit tired in terms of decor. Pool areas were great and not over crowded. A great hotel in that it’s not too big and in a fab location. Bars and restaurants in walking distance and bus stop within a 5 minute walk. Would recommend.

Amazing spa hotel with great facilities, very clean. Every person we had contact with was friendly and professional. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are fantastic. There are 2 outdoor pools which we didn't use as we visited in February. Location of the hotel is perfect if you rely on public transport. Easy access to Gozo as well. Overall very good experience, we'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, my stay at the hotel was quite disappointing. The room wasn't clean, there was a broken chair, and the surprise upgrade I paid for wasn't delivered for most of my stay. Additionally, we didn't receive the robes that we paid for. The service and communication were also lacking. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves for future guests.

Lovely Stay at the Perogola Hotel during the first week of October. The hotel is situated in a quiet town at the top of the hill, overlooking the bay and large church, we opted for the sea view which was worth paying the extra. Our apartment was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Staff were always friendly and helpful especially the reception who all had local knowledge so could help with planning trips out. It’s well worth getting a weekly bus pass so you can explore the local area, and so that you don’t have to walk up the hill from the beach. The cave bar and pool area were my favourite, always clean and tidy, not to busy when we were there. Good choice of cocktails, snacks and ice creams. We had half board, the food was good but not exceptional, we always found something to eat, breakfast was a little repetitive withe the usual bacon eggs, bread , cheese and fruit. The only negative thing I could say is that if you have poor mobility the hotel does have a lot of steps (lifts are available) not a problem for us

Not the best for what they advertise, at best a 3 star hotel. They don’t serve any vegetarian food for breakfast, it’s the 21st century, you have to request vegetarian breakfast then they will make it for you. However the food was so poor quality it was not edible. At the end we told them not to worry about making any food for the rest of the stay. Kids struggled with the limited selection of food available. Was very disappointed, the front desk staff could not care, just kept on telling us to contact the restaurant. We would not book again.

We renamed the hotel ‘The Pergatory’ because we were counting down the days until we left and moved to another hotel. This is a former timeshare property which means they have lots of rooms, which were either self contained apartments or hotel rooms. Either way, they haven’t been modernised since the eighties. The biggest issue by far is the fact that there simply aren’t enough sun beds for guests. Add to the fact that they allow people to ‘reserve’ them from stupid o’clock in the morning means that unless you get up at 7am, there’s no way you will get one. Yes, it’s a bit cheaper than the Maritim hotel across the road but that place is WAY better - I’ve stayed there half a dozen times. The only reason I stayed at the Pergatory is because I left it too late to book

Pergola is a well run hotel ideal for a short stay in Malta.
1 bedroom apartment was ideal and cleaned daily.

Cave bar is lovely.
Breakfast buffet was fine. Evening meals what you expect from mass catering, but plenty of local restaurants when you want something more special.
Recommended for families, couples and solo travellers alike.

The property is in a stunning location with the best view of Mellieha Bay and the Church. The pools and dining facilities are great and have a very relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at ease. The apartment room size is fantastic and it makes you feel like you are living there, and not just staying/visiting. We did have an issue on check in, where we were not given any local information or guidance about the area (or even directed to the well-hidden leaflet stand), and the room we were given initially was not the right set-up for beds (they gave us a double when we had had two email conversations prior to checking in confirming we would be given a twin - as I was staying with my son). We were also disappointed that though the renovated rooms look fantastic, with tasteful interior decor, this came at the expense of removing every bath - a frankly baffling decision as this is a basic perk of any hotel and a welcome relief after a day out in the hot sun.

Like a resort it has everything you need: breakfast buffet, pools, kids area, restaurants, spa. Also has the best view. Jelena, Elena, Oliver at the Cave Bar were so friendly. Everyone we met was so friendly and hospitable. The food options are excellent especially the classic burger and pizzas. We went during their annual, 3 day party to honour Marija Bambina so the music and fireworks were ongoing till 3am on those nights. We managed to get some sleep when we upgraded to a room in the main building surrounding the inner courtyard pool. All in all a great experience

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location overlooking Mellieha Bay and the church. Clean and modern, room was a great size and was lovely to have the addition of a kitchenette and lounge area. The balcony overlooked the swimming pool and cave bar and had the same lovely views of Mellieha Bay. The best part by far was the service...every member of staff was so polite and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great holiday. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in a different room than what was originally booked due to a maintenance issue.

Dinner was offered on the house. We understand and accepted the efforts. Only so much is within our control - especially with maintenance malfunction.

Next day, our apartment room still wasn’t available, but we had to be out of our temp studio room as the cleaning team needed to prep it for the next guests.

We had to leave our luggage with the staff, but all valuables needed to come with us as we self-toured the island of Gozo.

Needless to say it wasn’t a relaxing day considering the cash, passports and a few other items we had to constantly monitor when parking, when going in for a dip in the water or a boat ride to explore caves.

Everything became an extremely limited experience.

Not to mention when they transferred our food from the Studio Room to the Apartment Room, they disposed of all of our food versus moving it with our luggage, including our wine.

Lastly when we returned to the hotel, after a long day - a quick shower before dinner was had. But for my husband only, as the issue was not fixed. The drain was still clogged and it flooded our bathroom.

Was hoping for the 4* review experience we had read about.

The room was clean but there was a smell of damp. The air con worked well but the room was very hot when first going in. The staff on reception and in the cave bar were fantastic.
My only complaint would be the behaviour of the day pass people. Eating and drinking in the pool all day. The pool was really murky looking by the end of our two week stay.

Always loved this hotel. Refurbishment has made it even better. Knew they were closing on Sun 15/11 so booked to leave on Th 12. Frustrated and disappointed to be told they were closing even earlier. They moved us to their sister hotel Solana for last 4 nights. Not what we wanted nor booked.

Let down by real basics unfortunately.

Nice spacious hotel but let down by some real basics unfortunately. In summary nice hotel but front office Staff I came across seem to require some basic customer service training. During covid 19 having staff with poor attitude greeting customers could severely impact business. Please take note. Details below..

Received multiple emails prior to arrival asking for any requests. I requested a room on the upper floor, sea view and the ability to check in early if possible. I received a response that it may be possible on chdck in.

I arrived early and the lady on the front desk (Dolores) came across as extremely rude. Explained the room booked meant I can't get anything I requested if I wanted I could pay for an upgrade, made me wait ten mins and then asked me to come back. When I came back two hours, pretty much asked my name handed me a key and avoided any interaction as possible. Seemed to have a terrible attitude for some reason. To note this is during coronavirus season so the hotel was not at full capacity, so there was time to go the extra mile to interact with guests.
I asked her where the luggage room and received quite a blunt response.. It was closed and pointed to the wall. Asked about the car parking.. Was told its closed.. No explanation why. Asked about breakfast and was told it's on sheet. Terribly let down and felt like the service of a hostel rather than a hotel marketed as luxury.

Breakfast: I observed very strong controls for covid. Enhanced Cleaning.

Photo v misleading as pool area is v cramped and made worse by the fact that day tickets are sold to non guests on unlimited drink packages. My studio was a comfortable but a bit tatty. It smelt badly of damp - I reported this in person and by email and no one came and did anything about it. They have spent a lot of money on some of the communal areas but need to invest in the rooms

Very unique property, most of the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Some of the policies were petty and did not contribute to the overall experience nor the good of the hotel. eg towel cleaning charges.

Staff were great, especially at spa, front desk and pool bar.
Room cleaning service very poor.
Room we got was in terrible condition and had no natural light. It was very dark so could barely see. Very poor room. Gym facilities very poor. Need to clean pool much better. Lots of hair floating in it. Yuck! Food and drinks at pool bar very good.

Great location, great stay!

Had a really good stay here for 10 nights. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 2 bed sea view apartment which was a great size and comfortable with a good sized balcony. Really enjoyed the gym and pools and the cave bar food is excellent (far better than the cocktails!). Only criticism was that the outdoor pool gets really busy (especially at the weekends when lots of locals come in for the day, drink a lot around and in the pool and take all the beds!). Can highly recommend George's bakery about 5 minutes away and we also liked Master Wok in the main high street. Snorkelling is fantastic at Paradise Bay and definitely visit the WW2 shelters too - amazing. The views of the main church during the day and night alongside the sea view are really great!

There were three pools and a gym to use, all cleaned daily with loads of space to sunbathe. The room was great with a sea view and the hotel restaurant was amazing! Only issue we had was trying to book onto an excursion the staff at the desk said she would ring our room and let us know availability and didn’t tell us either way so we waited ages for a response and didn’t get one 😔

Very confusing rambling collection of staircases and dodgy elevators. We were in a nice room in an annex accessed through a tunnel. Hotel map was misleading and added to our confusion. Especially as different elevators were not working on different days. Staff were lovely though. Indoor pool was very cloudy. Bed was badly made each day. Room very spacious. Bit of a mixed experience.
