I love the room. It was spotless and well laid out. We had a lot of room. The balcony was wonderful. The view was wonderful. The keyless doors were great too. The air conditioning in the room worked perfectly.
The staff was very helpful and lovely.
The little store on site had a lot of nice last minute things. Amenities, drinks, snacks, souvenirs, and toiletries.

The drawbacks were pretty minor but here they are: the water pressure in the shower was very low, so don't use a whole lot of soap.
The hallway floors get very slippery because they are in the open and absorb moisture from the air. Be careful.
There was a loud clapping sound that was outside of our room randomly throughout the night. Never figured out what it was.
Also, there are a few dozen stray cats that live on property, and sometimes fight at all hours of the night.
The restaurant is very good.
I have Celiac, so there's only one menu item on there that I could eat. So if you have Celiac, or gluten sensitivity so are problems with wheat, be forewarned.
There really is no beach at this hotel, so you'll have to drive elsewhere.
The pool is very good. Sometimes it was cloudy though. I would rate it a 9 out of 10.
The driveway leading down to the parking lot is in really bad shape.
The parking lot is okay. A bit rustic like most of the rest of the island. But be careful on the sloped driveway, especially going down.
Overall, it's a very nice place to stay.

As a senior, this facility was very remote when touring the island and driving on the left side of the road was challenging at times. Also, the elevator doesn't work so getting to the other levels was challenging. Julie, the manager went out of her way to accommodate us.

My fiancé and I stayed 3 nights here in March and while I wouldn't call it a 5-star hotel, we had an excellent experience.

Something to consider when staying here is that it is located about 40 minutes away from the main city area (Christiansted) and the roads leading up the hotel get narrow and the cell service gets shotty. The drive is so far out that some Uber drivers decline your ride because they do not want to drive out that far. I would def let them drive instead of renting if you are from the US. -- but with that distance comes privacy and very nice mountain/beach views! So just know what you are getting!
Also, the beach access at the resort is pretty much non-existent. The waves are there, but the beach is not -- it is a shore of mostly rocks.

But the food at the restaurants was really good!! And they had someone playing live music during dinner every night. The staff (Muffs, Malcom and Luis) were great. We enjoyed meeting and conversing with them at various points during the day and at the bar. I enjoyed looking off into the beach and sunset, and the privacy of this resort compared to others on the island is noteworthy. If you want to be out of the hussle and bussle and just enjoy some quiet island time -- I would recommend Grapetree.

Stayed in a villa which is just a large room but it is right on the water with a nice patio, two chairs and a table. It was a 1 minute walk to the pool. Hotel is somewhat secluded on the East End, which I thought was good but my wife wanted some activity at night and there was not any. We did stay Sunday-Thursday and there might be more activity on the weekend when the steakhouse restaurant is open. Overall, nice clean rooms, pool is excellent, right on the water but no beach or swimming from the hotel area. Public beach is an easy 10-minute walk.

We had the best room there. Walk out the door and you’re on the beach. Everything was convenient but they don’t have elevators on St. Croix! The personnel were be friendly and aim to please. Good food also.

My wife and I stayed at the Grapetree for a week and we absolutely loved the place! It was perfect, it was away from the noise and crowd of Christiansted and Frederiksted. The room was perfect for the two of us, the food was fantastic and the staff was very welcoming. Definitely rent a car because the hotel is far from all the attractions and beaches.

You can walk a little distance with shoes, it's very rocky, but beautiful. You need a car at this resort due to the location because there isn't much close by but it's a very relaxing resort.

Beautiful very large room which was spotless. Courteous and helpful staff. Great food for several meals, and good music one night. It appears the place is renovating, and hopefully renovations continue and this resort succeeds. We were among only a handful of guests so the resort was nice and quiet, but they’ll need more guests to have the resort succeed. There is not a usable beach, but there are other places close by to enjoy a beach. We were glad to spend 2 nights on the east end of the island (so different from other areas of St. Croix), and we were glad to stay at the Grapetree.

This property is almost to the end of the island on the east end. It is absolutely beautiful and the staff could not be nicer. The food at the restaurant is great and reasonably priced, particularly for a hotel/resort restaurant. The rooms are beautiful, bright and airy. The view is spectacular. We will visit again.

Quiet and Quaint East End Gem

Every single person on the staff was helpful and welcoming. This recently-renovated property is right on the ocean. Even though we visited past peak season (so it wasn't busy) we were treated so well by the staff. Food and drinks were top-notch. They have Japanese food on the weekend, and really good sanwiches, pizza, etc. in the bar. I will miss the cool, spacious room and the view from the balcony. Far east end of the island about 35 minutes from airport/Christiansted; very quiet. The fresh paint and murals serve up island character. Nice pool. They care for the resident cats very well too! If you are disabled, you should know that the elevator does not yet work, though there may be ground-level accessible accommodations.

It’s a quiet, beautiful location. We basically had the place to ourselves until the wine tasting night. It’s close to Point Udall, which is a great place to watch the sunrise. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There were only two downsides. One, I booked a room for a family of five, so I assumed there would be a sofa/bed or just a sofa. I had to pay an additional $60 a night plus tax for a rollaway. Second, you really can’t go out into the water here. The beach goes straight to a dead coral reef, so you can’t walk out on it. However, it’s still beautiful to look at and there are several beautiful beaches nearby. You will need a car here.

Grapetree rooms have been updated and are very clean, comfy bed and great air conditioner !Staff is nice and food is very good! It’s quiet and has a big bar overlooking the ocean ! It’s on a small beach but not a swimmable one .Pool is big and warm . It’s open all the time which is awesome! It’s more of a resort for the older crowd and couples because it’s out quite far , which we loved! Make sure you have a car to go into town and visit the great beaches! We loved our stay here !!!

Unfortunately, we chose this property for a quiet, east end, dark sky, romantic stay. The biggest issue we had was a band the hotel hired (nothing against the band itself). They parked a pickup truck outside our room so they could unload/load gear and left it there. The band played two doors down from us and was open to the public for a $10 pool pass. This really just lead to lots of noise all day/night. Obstructed view of the beach ocean (due to the Tacoma Truck upgrade) and just not being able to enjoy ourselves. Hotels cant control some things like weather or power failures (frequent on St. Croix) - but they shouldnt do things that punish the people paying $600/night so they can sell pool passes and bring in a couple hundred extra for the band. Also, rooms were only serviced every third day (this is almost ok..but I would have preferred fresh towels every other day at least).

Although this resort is far away from the cities, that is the very reason we loved it! So beautiful, great ocean view from every room, wonderful staff who are the friendliest and most kind I've ever run into. Downsides would be that if you do not like to walk (we do), you'd need a car to get to Point Udall (which we missed on this trip), nearby casino & to the cities. Hiking trail right by the resort led to a turtle nesting beach, and great views of the island - be sure to wear leggings & good walking shoes - trail is a bit rocky & rough in spots. We used cabs & the VIHail ride share. That was very good & convenient to use. FYI cabs have set rates, so it'll cost you about $70 to get from airport to the hotel. Overall, we spent about $250 on transportation between cabs & share app. Still much cheaper than renting a car. We can't wait to return to this one next year & want to thank everyone at Grapetree Bay Hotel for a fantastic stay!

I really enjoy that it was quiet area. The rooms are very nice and spacious. They have microwave, fridge and dishes. Would recommend toaster and deying rack for dishes. Ice available from staff. The staff were excellent! Had a nice gym. The pool area was always clean and the pool eas cleaned daily. They had wifi where could hook up for nextfix and Amazon prime to watch TV. We didnt mind this as used our accounts. Unfortunately did not have cable so without streaming unable to watch TV. Need a rental car to get around. We are aware of this as we been to island many times. Thanks. It was very relaxing and nice stay.

The views of being right on the ocean is remarkable. The staff is excellent, very pleasant and accommodating. We celebrated our 20 year anniversary and they went above and beyond to make sure we were treated as the most important guest at the hotel. The only thing I would change is they could have more entertainment with live music but it was the slow season so maybe that’s why it was limited.

The hotel itself is not bad, but it is lacking in simple services to make your stay there so much more enjoyable. The hotel is located on the very far east end of the island. Very far from the main city of Christenstad and most of the island's attractions. Getting anywhere is difficult and very expensive. You can rent a car, but with no cell service in many areas of the island, you'll have no navigation. The other option is to use a local taxi service, but they can be very expensive.

The hotel should provide shuttle service to guests that will take you to the city in the morning and return to pick you up later in the afternoon.

Also, there are no grocery or retail stores near the hotel. Providing a simple grocery store in the hotel or within walking distance of the hotel would really make your stay there more comfortable.

This property is a work in progress. It was abandoned for a long time and recently renovated and revitalized. With that said, it’s in a remote location and it’s a drive to any restaurants, town, and the beach. There is no working elevator so this is not a place for people with mobility issues. The rooms are spacious and most have ocean views. The rooms have digital locks and they didn’t seem the most secure. The main dining area is dated and also outdoor so the wind can be an issue at times. Overall, this resort has potential. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

The property itself was clean, however there was an issue with bugs. A huge bug got into the room and climbed into a corner and turned into what appeared to be a cocoon there was also a small roach in the room. Also there was no one at the front desk after 9p which was very strange as there was no one to help with the issue with the bugs. Staff however during the day was very friendly. The restaurants were very mediocre as far as food quality.

Avoid this hotel at all costs.
I didn't have hot water the entirety of my trip. Maintenance simply told me locals don't use hot water. I contacted management, staff and expedia themselves while staying there. No one allowed me to get out of my lengthy non refunable trip. Expedia claims they cannot refund or allow me to check out early, the hotel management says refunds or partial refunds are only done by the owner. It's been over a month the owner is MIA refuses to answer phone calls or comminucation by me or expedia.
They do not respond to expedia messages, direct calls done to the hotel asking for management or the owner etc. They basically take your money and you have no way of contacting them with issues after check in.
HOT WATER IS A BASIC AMENITY. It should be provided by the hotel. How are you supposed to enjoy an island vacation when you come back from the beach to a freezing cold shower?

Aside from no hot water it should also be noted the "beach" is not swimmable and the front desk staff actually tell you to swim further along the coast as their beach is rocky and dangerous. They are a waterfront property but wouldnt classify it as beachfront when you cannot swim in the beach.

I did stay at victoria house the remainder of my trip, they were next to the wonderful rainbow beach and did have very hot water. I suggest staying there instead.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Loved our room and gorgeous view from our balcony! Staff was wonderful and very willing to help! Sunday brunch was very good :) Those were the great things. However, for an approx. $400 night hotel (inc. tax) there was room for improvement on a few things. One, the shower water was only luke warm at best, even though water temperature in sinks were hot. They looked at it and said nothing could be done. There's only 3 restaurants; breakfast only 7 to 9 (except Sunday brunch) a Japanese restaurant only open Thurs, Fri, Sat, and a bar restaurant open 3 to 9, I think. The hotel is a ways from a lot of things, which we knew ahead, but might not stay again because of that. So a pain, but also very quiet at night, which was nice. Also, the beach is rocky which we knew ahead of time, but hoped it was at least a walking beach, but it really wasn't. Also, we had a big kitchen, but no dishclothes, dishtowels, or dish rack. Only paper towels to dry dishes with. Also lots of space, but very little in the way of kitchenware. Some wine glasses and a corkscrew would have been nice, Definitely room for them and other things. So would I recommend? Just depends on what you're looking for I guess. But again, to reiterate, we did really enjoy our stay and can't say enough about the wonderful staff!!

Response from late night (1am) unsafe incident was fairly nonexistent from owner or management. Or rather made it to be us the guests fault for sleeping with sliding glass door open. Completely wet walls and floor at 1am. With sparks coming out of outlets due to moisture in room 12. Once moved at 3am - never had another problem with moisture in room 4.

It was very quiet since we were there during off season. Staff was excellent and most helpful. Food at the 2 restaurants was good. They do need to fix the elevator, however. Beach was not very walkable but understand they plan to improve the beach front.

This property is superb, the staff is amazing every single one of them, the owners are very attentive and friendly
Our stay was comfortable quiet enough but they also had entertainment.
The pool was absolutely amazing! My suggestion if you don’t want a whole lot of hassle and bustle this is your place

Property was very clean. This property is out of the way from excursions, shopping, and restaurants, but it worked for us. Staff was friendly. The rooms are only refreshed every 3 days or so. You have to ask for towels, etc.

This property was so beautiful and peaceful. The food onsite was excellent although it could be available during longer timeframe. The water was beautiful. The beach is like others have said rocky and sometimes high in seaweed. But this appears to be the case on the entire island. Even when we went to Rainbow Beach which is considered the top beach, waves were throwing 6 and 8 inch size rocks at your feet.

If u are looking for a clean and quiet then this is a great spot. However, there is very little to do if u are looking for an action packed getaway. The beach is not swimmable and you would need to rent a car to get around

If a guest gets bedbugs from an infested bed, the least u could do is make a ride possible to an urgent care facility. $120 for medicine also because of YOUR infestation! You played us cheap and your sense of urgency showed. Your management never even came to inquire our status after urgent care. Place was lovely, food, pool, all good. Your accountability in an emergency gets a big fat zero!

Mandy was very nice and helpful. Hotel was clean and views were amazing. The taxi service gouge you but walking to the casino or to jacks beach/horse shoe beach and Isaacs beach are walkable and great day trips, both about thirty minutes walk. Restaurant charged gratuity on to go items which did not seem rightfair

Overall experience was good. The guest service was great from the employees but they are understaffed. The view was absolutely amazing. The room was beautiful and spacious. A shuttle or cab service for guests and offered by the hotel should be an option.

Great location to enjoy quiet and relaxing time. Room size and balcony was awesome with constant breeze to enjoy. Jack and Isaac bay trail to beach is awesome and we had beach to ourselves. Staff is superhelpful and always smiling. Not much dining options for vegetarians and we didn’t eat at the peopety so can’t comment.

Beautiful view, incredible staff but listed as beachfront and while it was at the beach there were no beach chairs ,no beach service, or swimable beach. No working elevator, no cable TV.

Gorgeous St. Croix

Gorgeous hotel. Very kind and friendly staff. Everyone was super helpful and nice. The only thing that we didn’t like was the beach was not swimming friendly. We knew that before hand but still wished there was private beach access or any beach access directly at the hotel. Otherwise it was gorgeous.
