I think putting resort in the name of this hotel was deceiving. Most resorts have amenities and many options of things you can do around a facility. This one had absolutely nothing other than a bar downstairs that had horrible coffee and at best, mid grade food. The prices were very high and it was just not accommodating for guests. I would not recommend this hotel because there’s nothing in the vicinity to do or to eat. It is not a resort. It is a hotel/inn. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose another place to stay.

I gave a rating of three because there was a beautiful view from the room and the room was somewhat tidy.

Good location, friendly staff and clean. The bathroom door is not sound, if you’re sharing a room and you’re shy you might be uncomfortable. Unable to swim at the private beach but they have a nice pool. Onsite restaurant was good, not a lot of options however, keep in mind it’s an island and deliveries can be slower. The Tamarind Reef Resort has the potential to be great. The views are incredible, the pool is huge and well taken care of and the restaurant has decent food. They have great bartenders and servers that work at the Deep End bar and restaurant. The rooms could use a serious deep clean and the utensils, pans, cooking supplies need a major upgrade. The coffee pot leaks all over, the one pan really needs to be tossed. The resort offers laundry service on their website but that's not the case. There was stains on the sheets. The off white plastic trashcan is so dirty. There is a rusted out safe in the room that doesn't work. It truly is a bunch of little things that need some attention. It could be a really nice resort but there is obviously some neglect that should be taken care of.

Although some things were a bit dated or weatherworn (windows), this is a beautiful property with lovely landscaping, about a narrow beach on the North shore of St. Croix. There is a very good restaurant adjacent to the pool and beach, both of which are lovely spots to spend a day. We made use of the kayaks to paddle out from the marina, which was a lovely experience. Be aware, though, that there is no swimming or even kayaking up to the beaches, as there is a line of reef teeming with spiny sea urchins right along most of the beaches. However, the facilities are very pretty, the staff is responsive, and the staff are nice. The restaurant has just changed hands, so look for recent reviews.

Great view of Buck Island. Restaurant food and drinks are good. The Wi-Fi was basically nonexistent. Got different reasons at the front desk: usually that I was the only one complaining and once that there actually was a problem. Room is as pictured. Nice little kitchenette with some dishes.

There was a battery operated safe in the room that kept beeping at 3am our last night that was very annoying. The room was huge and felt empty because it needs a sitting area and would feel more homey. Also some art on the walls would be more welcoming.

Rooms were average. Could be cleaned more thoroughly. We really only used it as a place to sleep. There’s not really a beach on the hotel, it’s blocked by rocks but is still a relaxing atmosphere. This hotel is best to stay at if you’re renting a car or paying taxis to take you to other spots. Restaurant on site was also average and could use some improvements to the menu and preparation. Overall affordable and nice staff, so if you’re looking to save money this is fine. But if you want a nicer more current hotel with a beach this is not the place to book.

The hotel is old but clean. Could use some updating and repair, but you cannot beat the view of Green Key and the Caribbean from the rooms. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Having a kitchenette meant we could bring back leftovers and have lunch in the room is we wanted.
Deep End Restaurant and Bar on Property is decent for breakfast and the Friday night Dinner and Show was very enjoyable. Again, the staff, as well as locals who come to Happy Hour, are friendly and helpful to visitors and they are looking forward to new management taking over as of February.

Most of the staff was very friendly. The rooms are dated. The first room I was in, the sliding door handle broke off in my hand the first time I opened it to get a look at the water. The second room's hair dryer didn’t work. I stayed four nights and my room was never cleaned once, nor were any towels offered, and I dod not have a please do not disturb sign on my door, so plenty of opportunity to have it cleaned. Nice location on the beach though, which is truly what the goal was.

Staff were kind and helpful, room was clean and comfortable and we loved the kitchenette! Food is more expensive in the island so cooking helped a lot! We worked out in the gym daily which was great! Kayaking was free and fun! Pool was beautiful but the beach was stunning. We traveled with a family of five and stayed two weeks and they put an air mattress in our room for one of my sons. The beach was stunning with views of Buck island! Deep End restaurant was amazing with the best staff and food! Convenient to Christiansted where we shopped and got a catamaran to buck island for a day of snorkeling! Our room had an amazing view of the ocean! Nothing but good things to say about it! Hope to be back next year! Special thanks to everyone one the staff, they work hard to keep the resort humming and the guests happy!😃

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here at the Tamarind Reef Resort. We loved the staff and the Deep End Bar and Grill was phenomenal!! Chance, the bartender, took great care of us when we would visit. We loved talking with him and Mark any time that we could. Jesus and the rest of the kitchen staff did an excellent job each time. We cannot recommend coming to this hotel enough and hope to be back next year!

Needs an update & deep clean! Taxis very expensive to go everywhere.

MUST rent a car!!! Beware, they drive US cars on the opposite side of the road from the states.

Hotel was dead, empty. Town had not much but goods imported from India and Bangladesh. Not a good destination. I would like a refund. This was no vacation.

Yes, everything was Wonderful from the room except for TV problems. Breakfast was very good Alice was amazing and so was Lolly who took care of the room. The front staff were VERY accommodating even had a bottle of Champagne that was requested we had to return it even got credited back for not opening the bottle due to us not liking sweet wine...EVERYTHING was Wonderful !!! When I first read reviews of Tamarind, the reviews were mixed. I decided to take a chance and we couldn’t have been happier. The room was spacious and clean. The location of our room was fantastic, I walked out with my coffee every morning and was greeted by the ocean. The pool was right there and my daughter loved that. The pool was large, overlooking the ocean and well maintained. The location was great. The staff were beyond wonderful. They were so friendly, welcoming and were eager to help with anything we needed. Special shoutout to Lala, WOW, what a hard worker and a genuinely great person!!! The restaurant also got a bad rap on some reviews, however, the staff were absolutely wonderful, excellent service, and the food was pretty good. I would definitely go here again in the future! Thank you to everyone at Tamarind for helping to make our stay memorable!

I definitely do not recommend this hotel. There’s no room service they never refill the soap or shampoo, or the towels. The beach is very bad and not good for swimming. There are roosters singing all around from 4 am to 7 am if you like to rest and sleep it is impossible. Also there’s cockroaches in the room. There’s better places to stay on this beautiful island.

This was our 2nd stay here. The office staff are great. The rooms are okay, the bathrooms are tiny with small showers. The main issue is the restaurant and bar-while on resort property not part of resort, so make sure you take your credit card. The people who work in restaurant/bar leave a lot to be desired, except one bartender that works week nights, the guy on Sundays is beyond horrible. The restaurant to start has a very limited menu and half the time part of this over priced, bland food is not available. If you want biscuits and gravy beware it can take up to an hour to get, they don't begin making it prior to opening. Eggs they only know how to cook well done. The bar is somewhat boring as it closes at 9 even on weekends. The best thing to do if you intend to enjoy drinks and supper out is to just go ahead and go to town. The food is 100% better, it is more reasonably priced. The beach is okay although there is only a small area can enter water but can snorkel off beach.

Walls were paper thin. It was great to hear the noisy neighbors all the time. It was great having turn up the volume on the tv or have my kids put in ear plugs so they didn't hear the couple loudly having sex next door. Left the first day to find the door didn't lock. Front office just said maintenance doesn't work weekends. Who cares if the room is unlocked was the attitude. Luckily nothing was atolen and thr lock was fixed.

The view from room balcony was spectacular. The staff were friendly and the bedding and sheets were clean but the room was pretty disgusting, especially the floor, shower stall and fridge. Fortunately, K-Mart was having a closing down sale so I got cleaning supplies cheap. I did mention the issue of human hair in every space you can imagine, and was told they would sweep, which apparently they did since they agreed they had found a lot of it. They did not find it all, which is why I went out and bought a broom and wet mops. I could have made a fuss but didn’t want the aggravation. I’m hoping the issue will be addressed for future guests, but I did see after the event a similar review posted a few months ago. I’ll also take the opportunity to mention that

Very quiet area, and everyone was very friendly. The food was disappointing. I ordered wings during happy hour and i was not happy. The wings were still bleeding. The beach was relaxing but you'll need beach shoes do to the stones. A good screening could help. The rooms are not updated but for the price compared to the Buccaneer it's okay.
Last but not least, our flight was leaving at 4pm so i requested a 2hr extension. At $25 and hour i was willing to pay the additional fee but i was told that i had to go through Expedia. I don't understand that. I had cash, plus i booke through HOTELS.com!

Beautiful views, very clean rooms. The water in our room was HELL hot. We thought there must be some trick to the dial to get the cold water running in it, but nothing we did made a difference. My husband asked the office to have someone fix it .but that did not happen. We ended up standed to the side of water spray so we wouldn't get 3rd degree burns. They have two big event nights. Disco Bingo on Thursday and Friday is Caribbean Night. Skip Friday night and go to the dinner at Buccaneer instead. You absolutely need to rent a car. The taxi dtivers dont want to come out this far. For the record, this isnt really a resort. Nice rooms and pool with one bar/restaurant that closes at 9pm. Its oceanfront with amazing views but you cant really swim from the beach. Take the ferry at Cristianstad boardwalk for $5 to the King Christian Hotel Island. A good day at the beach. Pay for a boat ride to Buck Island. Beach day on undeveloped Buck Island was the highlight of our trip. No shade, no umbrellas, lounge chairs, beach bar, loud music,etc. Just sand , clear blue water and beautiful blue sky. Tamarind is extremely no frills. Just know what you signing up for when you book it.

It was so beautiful truly paradise had the oceanfront double bed room for my daughter and I for her birthday trip. It was so quiet and peaceful the rooms are beautiful they came with a lot of information about the island. The housekeeper was so nice and helpful and sweet. The front desk host’s were super friendly and helpful as well with information and things we needed. It’s a little distance away from things and the city but there are activities onsite. Of you want to truly relax though and go into the cities I definitely recommend this spot!

It was an amazing stay and we loved the beach. I know it’s 4 stars, but I wish I could do 4.8. Our main complaint is that the walls were paper thin. We could hear everything our neighbor was doing- which was rough for a late sleeper like me. Everyone was so nice, the place was clean, our room was serviced when requested. Big room, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was the best. We saw an octopus!

Pleasantly surprised to receive daily housekeeping and they left pool towels in the room since none were available at the pool. The mini fridge was rusted but worked well and the doors (front and balcony) stuck/were hard to open. Beds were comfortable and room offered great space with a nice hanging chair that was unique. Took 5-10 minutes for shower to warm, never could get it anywhere near hot but this probably is not an issue except for when we stayed towards end of the year. The beach area is rocky and not maintained but the property is oceanfront so bring the appropriate water shoes to take full advantage. Nearby marina is walking distance and onsite restaurant had promotional/theme nights throughout our stay but nothing appealed to us based on offering/value. Anything else would require transportation but rental car is highly recommended to explore entire island anyway. It's a lap pool (non heated) so plan accordingly if you have kids or just want to relax; once again probably not a huge issue for most with the regional weather. They have many stray cats and chickens on the property (not unique to the entire island) so expect at least one early wake up call. Would consider staying again if retuning to island based on the value I received but be advised that is based on conditions of island as a whole.

The room had a nice appearance, with modern furniture, and a remodeled bathroom in this otherwise older motel.

The age of the hotel shows though in leaks, noise, some failing HVAC, and partially functional fixtures.

Also, the beach is not great, filled with rocks, and not friendly for families or swimmers, or even just goofing around. I don’t think snorkeling is readily possibly for lost in this space next to a marina. Not sure where the reef actually is. The rims off shower was not functional. The pool is pretty deep and pretty aged.

The most challenging part of the stay beyond the HVAC which could only keep the room at either 65° or 80°, was the noise. The noise was incredible. There is some sort of a nightclub that operates at night with an MC and various acts. This blarring noise permeates each room because the rooms are not well insulated. There are screened windows on the room door that literally cannot be sealed. So every noise on the property comes right into your room. In addition, there are roosters on the property. They get quite active around 4 AM.

I would not return to this property.

Nice resort; needs some improvement

The property is nice and clean. Some fixtures in the room need to be updated such as the nightstand lamps which were very rusty, could be from the sea blast, but it's a part of the room. There were no lounge chairs on the patio, therefore I could not use the patio. The closet doors were broken and hard to maneuver, and the safe was inoperable. The bed was excellent and I slept well.

We had a great time. We went with our kids and they enjoyed the pool. Near the property, we visited the beach \"Mermaid\" which is in a gated area but you can get it saying you are going to go to the beach as beaches are public in the island even if they are in a gated area.
