Breathtaking views and direct beachfront access. If you like turquoise waters and the sound of waves crashing on the beach, Carambola is the place! Charming rooms with high ceilings, open air patios with cushioned benches. Beds were comfortable, water pressure good. Fair amount of walking is necessary, parking was a 2 minute walk, uphill mostly. Staff were friendly enough…service in restaurant was variable…but expect that you will sit and wait for longer than on the mainland. But, the views are so beautiful, and the island breezes so mesmerizing…you will barely notice the time! Honestly…wonderful value, clean, safe, and cared for…I would return tomorrow if I could!

When I say my trip was perfect, I truly mean it. The location, scenery, and peaceful vibe were everything. The food was very customizable — just communicate your dietary needs and they will accommodate. Breakfast was amazing.

If you’re celebrating something special, call the front desk and ask for Precious. She created a beautiful customized setup that made my day unforgettable. Truly an amazing experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not at all hospitable. This was very disappointing to be on vacation. Food at the bar and at the restaurant was pretty good. Resort is secluded and transportation is limited.

This place is beautiful from the outside but there is a big lack of staff/dining options and it’s called a resort and spa, there is no spa on set. The main restaurant was out of quite a few menu options and we had unreasonable wait times each time we dined. The staff were very nice but were seemingly over worked because of the lack of help. It was very misleading, my partner and I decided to check out 2 days early

We booked a one-week Christmas vacation at Carambola Resort for our family, excited to enjoy the Caribbean in a beautiful setting. We chose this property first because it’s a Marriott and second because of the stunning location. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, it was nothing but disappointment.

Check-in was scheduled for 4:00 PM. We arrived shortly after, only to be told our room wouldn’t be ready for another hour. Not the end of the world, so we decided to grab a drink and an appetizer at the lounge. That decision led to our next frustration. It took—without exaggeration—45 minutes just to receive water, followed by another 10 minutes before the appetizer arrived. When the food finally came, it was overcooked and missing about half of the menu ingredients.

When we finally made it to our room, we discovered there were no sheets for the pullout bed. We called three separate times and were repeatedly told they would be brought up. After waiting and it getting late, we walked up to the desk ourselves, only to be told there were no sheets available at all.

Sadly, things only went downhill from there. Housekeeping was inconsistent, food quality remained poor, and basic service expectations were repeatedly unmet. If there’s one thing this resort did manage to accomplish, it was ruining our family’s Christmas vacation.

Room was okay- a lot of little ant like bugs in the kitchenette area. Could not have food sitting unattended. Whole facility needs updating. Cleanliness was moderate. Courteous staff was very inconsistent. It was not Marriott Resort worth or meet other resort expectations. With all that said the location was fabulous but pricey.

This place is a 100% disaster. We were here for 9 days Dec 8th-17th, 2025.
Rooms are completely dilapidated and are in desparate need of service. A/C is loud, wood doors and all trim is rotted, window seals are all gone, room entirely 80s and NEVER fully cleaned, no decore, bugs and spider webs everywhere, toilet loose, floors filthy....on and on. These stand alone units are completely run down and need to be demolished and rebuilt. This \"resort\" is no resort at all whatsoever.
We understand \"island time\" but this is another level. There is one crappy restaurant with staff that clearly HATE working here. We even had a table next to us get up and leave because of how rude and inattentive they were. Dont bother ordering from the bar because youll wait an hour for a burger. SERVICE WAS HIRRIBLE.
I cant be clear enough that this is NOT the place to stay. Its run down, unmaintained and could be wonderful if started over. Alao keep in mind that this place is 30 minutes from town and the roads are rough and windy....DO NOT BELIVE THE PICTURES..... Fantastic if youre from the ghetto and used to this crap.

The room had some bugs but that’s expected because it is a tropical place. Room was nice the bar staff was pretty slow but friendly. The view from the hotel is UNMATCHED. Such a beautiful beach you can dive or snorkel at. The tide pool hike is extremely close by. The lobby staff were rude. The house cleaning forgot our room twice so we had no fresh towels. We paid for a beach view and it was our honeymoon and we barely had a beach view when there were so many people who got beach view after our check in that was on the beach which is what we requested and paid for. Overall st croix is amazing rent a car this hotel was reasonably priced and the beach was amazing.

1hr delay checking in after traveling all day. They Comped breakfast, but no one communicated that to the rest of the staff. Charged $172 for my (free breakfast) a 20% gratuity was added on for the party of 5. (no one told me) and $10 tip? So $37.00 tip and they didn’t even serve me a cup of coffee) There’s a lack of transparency.
Otherwise, it was a good stay.

The resort's location, while a bit isolated, is absolutely beautiful and worth the occasional inconvenience. That said, maintenance and cleaning of the rooms and the resort in general could be better. In addition, service can be slow, but that is typical of the VI. It is still a great place and worth the trip.

I had to have my room changed upon arrival. It smelled of mold and had a dead bug on the floor. The staff was pleasant, and the food was good. Housekeeping cleaned my room while inwas touring the island, and left it unlocked upon returned, with all my personal affects in th room.

The resort has a lot of potential. The room and the room view was nice, but the resort can use a new renovation. The staff there is TERRIBLE. Rude for no reason at all. From the front desk, to the only 2 restaurants. You’ll have to ask for your room to be clean and even after which, you’ll have to ask again for fresh towels. There is only one golf cart for the entire resort to get guests around. Unfortunately, the one cart is hardly man by a staff and if there is a staff, you’ll see the cart staffer hidden away and scrolling on the phone. Which I witnessed three times. We walked from our room to the front every time because the cart ride was nonexistent, even with all of our luggage. We wouldn’t go back mainly because of the staff. Why be disrespected towards customers who paid high price for your service?

Excellent property and would recommend to any and everyone. Staff, service, room, bar, pool, ambiance, all great. This is common throughout the whole property, but I would recommend getting a beach front or an ocean front room, at night when the waves crash on the beach, it;s very soothing and aids with sleep, at least for me and it's an awesome view to look at the beach. I was very close on giving this property 5 stars but there is only two parking lots due to topography and if your room is opposite to the lot, it's a long walk.

The beach was within walking distance to our room. You could hear the waves at night. The pool area and the cabanas were well kept and it was great area to just lounge and relax. Aliyah at the Flamboyant bar was an excellent server. Very attentive and professional. She suggested several restaurants in the area.

Now to why I will not stay there again. The front desk staff is rude. We arrived early (12noon). I attempted to check in understanding it may be a few minutes. Precious, suggested we have lunch at the bar and our room should be ready by the time we were finished. It was not. We continued to wait. While it appeared guests who arrived after us were able to check in, we still waited. I was told my room would be ready by 4pm and we could hang out. At 3:51pm, i inquired if our room was ready and was told by Precious it was not and wouldn't be ready until closer to 5pm. I asked if there was something wrong and she replied, \"the staff is just slow today.\" I didn't quite know how to take that response and it seemed inappropriate to tell a guest. There were no ice machines where our room was and instead we had to walk back to the front desk or over to the near side of the resort at the bar. The ice had started to melt by the time we got back to our room. One of the glass windows in our room was broken and the resort attempted to hide it behind the storm shudders! Why not just replace it or tell us about it from a safety perspective.

The beaches are textbook gorgeous. The property is very isolated. Would be good for reitrees and honeymooners. It was very remote for visit with children. Only one option for breakfast, the buffet...often missing items such as no bagels one day, no fruit restocked the next. AND beware, the omelet bar cost $5 extra per person. Food for dinner only available at the bar, 3 of the five days we were there. Dining in a restaurant was available on the weekend, but very expensive and with children, nothing much to offer for them Nowhere was that maded obvious. We stayed 5 nights and only had housekeeping one time. We got fresh towels from poolside each day and turned the used ones back in at the pool the next day. Front desk and dining staff were indifferent at best. Very little effort was evident in the most basic of requests.

This room had plenty of beg bugs. Bugs were literally crawling on the covers which led my daughter and I to look at the mattress which was covered in bugs. I asked to end my stay the first night but was told by management that I couldn't cancel because I booked with a 3rd party (expedia).Upon checking out the front desk clerk admitted they has a bed bug problem along with a lot of deferred general maintenance and told me she could not give me a check out receipt because she wanted to talk to management about adjusting the bill. I later notice that no credits were given. This property was dirty, they deliver your towels in tied up plastic bags to prevent bugs from getting on them. This is definitely not the quality I expected from a Marriott resort. I truly deserve a refund.

Room service in not consistent and they go days without changing the trash and updated towels. They are also very loud, when they go to the cleaning closet near the door to the room, they have their music very loud and yell to each other. There are brown outlets and outlet covers. This is the first hotel that I’ve stayed at without a microwave. The grounds had trash that was never picked up the entire 6 days we were there. Check in time is 4pm, our room was not ready until 5. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever slept in while in a hotel. If I was Marriott, I would rip my name off this hotel as it is subpar for a Marriott, the cost of the hotel, I expected so much more. We will never be staying here again when we visit Saint Croix. My recommendation, stay anywhere but here.

The property grounds were pristine. Absolutely gorgeous area and beach. Our room was very dated and unclean. We went and bought food to cook since we intentionally booked a kitchenette room. The first night a mouse ate through the packaging on all the food we bought and it had to be thrown out. The refrigerator smelled awful and ruined the taste of any food we put in it. Also there was 1 small pot, 1 pan, 1 fork and 1 knife. No plates or anything additional that you would expect when booking a kitchenette room. We stayed for 8 days and put sheets were never changed and the room was swept maybe twice. Maybe. The literature for the room stated sheets would be changed at day four and all beds made and room swept every other day. We had to request towels.and there were rarely beach towels available. A few staff at the bar area were great but very few. We had zero direction to find our room from check in staff. It was a pretty far walk with all of our luggage. I am so sad. I’ve dreamed of staying here for over 20 years and I will never be back other than to see the beach. I wanted so badly for it to be great and it is just too run down.

This is the second time I have stayed at this property, and it seems a little nicer than the first time, but definately shows its age. This property needs proper maintenance staff for upkeep and proper repairs. Maintenance items seem kind of \"handyman special\". If a tile is broken, replace it. If a door is rotted and falling apart, replace it. Gutters came off from a storm, replace them with the proper gutter.The dining menu could use an update and the breakfast cost of $32 is rediculous for a breakfast you would get at a Holiday Inn. There are a lot of little things that if done, could really set this place apart.

Overall experience I would give it 3 stars. This resort would be great if it had some pool entertainment ie: music playing around the pool area. It was too quiet you can hear other people’s conversation. The hotel should consider having free shuttle service to get you to and from day to day activities since there’s no entertainment on the property. This resort gave retirement home vibes. I stayed here for a week with my fiancé and were in our early 40s. We were looking to have a time at Carambola and we didn’t get that. We left the resort for a day and visited Cane bay beach we had a beautiful time /experience, from the food the scenery the little ferry taxi to get to the beach was awesome. Oh and the iguana’s walking around cane bay beach was pretty cool.

The resort is very nice it’s just far from everything. You have to take a taxi if you don’t rent a car to drive around. Everything is about 20-30 minutes away from the resort. I love the fact that the pool was 24/7 and beach access as well. I wish that there were more restaurants on the resort or at least close by. I only had one issue and that was with housekeeping I had to keep going to ask for them to come and service the room I left my room for the whole day and came back and the room had not been done. So I just asked the front desk to give me fresh laundry to change my own sheets and towels. I was there from 7/3 til 7/7 and I think that was a good amount of days to have housekeeping to clean. My overall experience was great and I would return

I enjoyed my stay because I made the best of it. The staff aren’t warm like many of us our use to stateside but they certainly will do their jobs. They do warm up a bit after while which I believe is just part of the culture. The rooms are ok when it comes down to cleanliness but could use some newer linens and towels since things are white they do stain and beige so needs replacing. Toilet has some hairs I brought my own cleaning supplies. Beach and pool are nice.

Very rude and poor customer service. The property was not clean. When it was time to check in my room wasn’t ready I arrived after 5pm (check in is at 4) then asked why the front desk lady was beyond rude and stated “I mean I can make it hours” I will never return.

Terrible service from front desk staff. Room was in bad shape, water on floor from a leak, sheets were dirty, pull out bed was broken. Beach front ocean view room did not have a view it was upstairs and covered by trees. Unable to use pull out bed I requested to be moved to another room view didn’t matter any more just needed somewhere for my kids to sleep. I found several rooms online available from main site and Expedia but was told there wasn’t nothing available and couldn’t change rooms. All 4 of us had to sleep on one king bed for 4 nights. They also said they were giving everyone $50 food and beverage credit since Television service was not working at the resort. Upon check out on Saturday after reviewing my charges at the restaurant I asked about the credit. Person working the desk said they didn’t know anything about that and there were no notes on my account and she was not able to make any changes. I asked if I could speak with a manager. She said managers don’t work weekends. This makes no sense how could there not be a manager on site of a popular resort during a summer weekend. This was the worst service I’ve ever received at a resort.

The property and views are amazing! Highly recommend the nachomamma add bbq also the wings are great! Book the ocean view you won’t be disappointed but most rooms most likely have exceptional view as well
