My stay at the Fred was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming. The property was beautiful, clean, & well maintained. The front desk manager Delia was very professional & helpful throughout the stay. Being able to text the front desk staff was so helpful and convenient. Special shout out to Jerome, the day time bartender. His professionalism, amazing energy, & charismatic nature really enhanced our experience there. The house keeping staff was amazing and always on top of keeping the rooms clean. 10000/10 would recommend the Fred!

Room was gorgeous, bar staff were fantastic. Restaurant was delicious when it was open. Cleaning staff was hit or miss. Our tv never worked and we got excuses saying they were going to fix it every day for 6 days. Finally got the room cleaned on the third day and had to ask for in room coffee every day. It’s a beautiful spot, just needs a little more attention to guest experience bed we can recommend to friends.

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. We checked out the same night. Here are the issues.

Unsafe parking lot. Parking lot is not lighted
Hotel gave us one set of towels. Asked for more which they gave us but not enough washcloths. They didn’t have any washcloths available because they were being washed.

In addition to the card key we were given a key for a padlock which screams this is not a safe hotel.

Marijuana smell in the hotel.

Light flickering in the room

TV not working.

The hotel had a New Year’s Eve party and it was communicated but they didn’t communicate the party was going to be right next to our room and the party will last to 4-5 am in the morning.

I requested a refund but the manager said they don’t give refunds and this issue can take months before it is resolved. They offered a credit when I already indicated I felt unsafe. They also charge you upon checking in. I highly recommend not to stay at this hotel.

I am currently disputing these charges.

I came to St. Croix for my birthday & after carefully reviewing all stays around, reading reviews I chose to stay at the Fred. The first day we went down to the bar around 8 pm, the bartender served us 1 drink & let us know she would be closing early. She then closed to sit at the bar & drink with friends for the rest of the night, serving them & herself. The next night we saw her at another bar a couple feet away from the Fred after leaving there we went back to the Fred which she happened to be there after as well. It was me & my boyfriend, a couple other folks there & she seemed to be looking for something before coming to us asking if we seen a key, we responded no because we didn’t, she proceeded to ask again & we said no, do you need help looking for them, we got up looked around our seated area and nothing, she asked again before letting us know that she ”knows we got them & there’s cameras” I proceeded to let her know we don’t & that she can review them if she wants. At this point I was getting upset because how dare she accuse guest of stealing. We asked the other bartender to put a football game on for us (the lady heard us) & she did, the lady sat across from us starring us down for about 6 minutes before aggressively getting up & turning it off on purpose. I was told she was the supervisor bartender & she was suppose to be on the clock this night, not drunk again. I ended up leaving & got another hotel with NO REFUND YET when promised 3 weeks ago by the higher ups

For the past 3 years I have stayed at this hotel back to back minimal issues, this will be my last at the Fred’s the experiences was terrible, no breakfast, restaurant closed, no bar tender for your order although I sat at the table for 25 minutes, left and went somewhere else for service, on day seven of check out, to get to the airport, the door of my room was locked and I was unable to get my luggage, the receptionist had no idea how to get the door unlocked it took an hour to get it finally open, and I was in panic mood to catch my flight, made it to the airport just in time. No longer have an interest to stay at The Fred’s.

This is a great place with high speed internet, which I needed for my work. My only two complaints, which they can easily address are a) they should heat the hot tub, and b) they should have some sort of shower curtain available. The open concept/rainfall shower head concept is super cool and cool looking, but I like to have a bit of privacy just in case. Overall amazing service, good (at the bar), and facilities—it’s a gorgeous place. The prices are definitely fair compared to other places on the island.I absolutely love the comfortable bed and pillows! The mini bar was a nice option, as well. I will definitely return to The Fred for my monthly work trips!!

A hard review to write. We had a great week. Granted it was off season. 12 - 4 dining only. Surprise. Very sketchy television in room. Sunday night private event with 300 people and music so loud in the room it was unbearable. Nice pool area. Very quiet most of the time. Staff recommendations ended up as wild goose chases three times only to find the staff was simply wrong. Would I go back? Probably if there was no private event scheduled. As I said, tough to review, but now my expectations are realistic. All said, St Croix was wonderful.

We had a great stay at The Fred! The room was on the smaller side, but perfectly comfortable for a couple. The hotel has a fun, vibrant vibe with great amenities. The pool area was really nice, and the view from the terrace was beautiful—especially around sunset.

The bar is spacious and conveniently located right by the pool, which made it easy to relax with a drink in hand. One of the highlights of our stay was the excellent service from Kathiria—she was friendly, helpful, and truly made us feel welcome.

The location is a big plus—it’s within walking distance to several restaurants and we were able to enjoy the 4th of July celebrations without needing a car. A solid choice for a fun, social getaway in St. Croix!

Avoid this hotel (and the town is not much better).
My \"pool view\" room with a \"balcony\" was on the first floor with a view of the back of the office where I got to enjoy the staff's little dog barking for hours (till 10pm) and was woken up early in the morning with the loud radios, conversations and engine noise of delivery drivers on the street side of my room. Since the cruise ship was in port, the public areas had booming music in a failed attempt to attract cruise ship business - and a successful attempt to push me and other guests away.
The staff was uncaring, but I write that off to them being more focused on the lack of phone service to the hotel as their phone rep was informing them that it might be weeks before the phone was reconnected.
I travel extensively and, for the first time in my life, I got to experience a hotel that was bad enough that I canceled the remainder of my stay and booked a flight and hotel at another island.
Yeah, it was worth $1,000 to get away from Fred...
Highly disappointed.
Don’t make the same mistake I did. Avoid The Fred and St Croix. There are far better options for your vacation money.

First time visiting St.Croix and we wanted something a little different. The Fred was perfect for our long weekend girls trip. Everyone was exceptionally nice and very helpful. The small size of the property made it feel very private during the early part of the day. In fact if you are an early morning by the pool kind of a person this is a spot for you. The pool and whirlpool were clean and the perfect temperature. As there is a bar/resturant on site, it did seem to get a little rowdy on Friday night (great people watching). However, they have \"quite\" time starting at 10 and things did get quite around that time. We stayed in \"the James.\" It had its own little balcony and a fantastic ocean view. My one and only irritation was the balcony was right next to a parking area and during various times of the day people played extremely loud music from their cars. It did add the the overall \"vibe\" of the trip... I personally just like taking naps in the afternoon. So if you want a little more quiet, I would opt for a different room. Overall would

Don’t waste your money. Upon arrive to the Fred in March 2025 we were told that the pool wasn’t functioning (it was disgusting green/brown water color), the kitchen wasn’t functional and they had an extremely limited menu, the room keys were non existent for the first half of the trip, the overall cleanliness of the property left a lot to be desired. All of issues with the pool, kitchen and keys were happening days before our trip and we got no heads up from management. We obviously would have stayed somewhere else if we had known the property was in this shape.

The Fred is not Adults only, they allow day guest of any age. Our shower drain was stopped up. We used towels to stop the water from flooding the room. Even after 3 requests we did not get fresh towels. This is a beach front hotel. There is nowhere on site to wash the sand off before entering your room. Because of this there was sand on the floor in the room. On a four night stay, the room was cleaned only once. No place to shower before getting in the Pool or Hot Tub, they were both full of sand. They were repairing the deck outside our room. Work started before 7 am 3 of the 4 nights we were there. Service is the worst we have ever experienced at a hotel. At times, the music played at the bar was too loud to even have a conversation or hear the ocean. The gift shop had boxes stacked up in the room where you are supposed to be able to get coffee and water bottles making it hard to navigate. They ran out of coffee pods and water bottles two days into our stay. Prices for food at the hotel restaurant were much higher than other restaurants close by and not as good.

It seemed at one point in the resorts history it was a very nice chic place to stay, and in many ways it does still have that charm. The problem that i could tell was that the majority of the staff seem more interested in talking to each other than acknowledging the customers and servicing them in a timely manner, (this was not “island time” it went beyond that). Also i found that i heard at least one person say that is not my job and refused to do the most menial task to correct the situation that needed addressing. The facilities needed to be better up-kept, curtains around the bar were starting to mold and tear and the pool grew a greener bottom everyday never once did i see it cleaned. The staff seemed to like to blast very loud music in the middle of the day and the only people seeming to enjoy it was the group of them sitting in the bar area.( it could have been turned down a bit for more enjoyment by all. I am not saying the place is horrible but it is not living up to its potential for sure. The chef made us a delicious dinner, the rooms are interesting and individual in decor, the staff are nice (just not managed well?), the hot tub is top notch (the hottest hot tub ever)! A major plus is that it is located directly on the beach! Would stay there again ? Truthfully if they dropped the price by a hundred dollars a night maybe, but for $300 a night I could find a more accommodating location to stay.

The service at the outside bar restaurant
was horrible. Sometimes you walk up to the bar and wait ten minutes or more for someone to wait on you. They were not all wearing uniforms. Most of them had bad attitudes As if they didn't want to be there. One Morning , I waited over an hour for breakfast that I never got. It was a simple pancakes and sausage breakfast. While I was waiting two gentlemen Walked up to get some drinks.Waited more than 5 minutes.Nobody was around and they took off. And said they were glad they decided not to stay there at the fred. The TV's at the bar were not working. The t v's in the room were not working. Rome service was good. The rooms were nice. The room had a moisture problem. With a dehumidifier that stopped working. The hot tub was.

A bit of an older crowd than I anticipated based on the advertising.
The staff was beyond amazing and friendly--they truly made our stay. The views are phenomenal. The hotel is a quick walk to the pier/restaurants/shops.
A few cons--not a quiet area. Lots of barking dogs, chickens/roosters, etc. The area seems a bit sketch after dark but we were never confronted or asked for money. The hotel is adult-only, but it is open to the public so there can/will be kids, especially on cruise ship days. The restaurant/bar does run on island time, which is typical in the Caribbean, but there were several people that got frustrated/annoyed.
Our tv didnt work the whole week--the staff (multiple) attempted to fix it but it was an issue with the dish/internet. They did try, though.
Overall, an enjoyable stay; relaxing with beautiful views and awesome staff that will make your stay.

We paid Grand Hyatt prices for Hotel 8 service. There was a Kerig in the room but no coffee, tea or even cups. The batteries for the ac remote and the room safe were dead. We didn't have satellite service after the first day... The room seemed 1/2 finished: no place to shelve clothes, only a closet, so we lived out of our suitcase. There were a couple of wonderful staff, but most were inattentive. At $311-$368/night one expects better. A LOT better.

Skip this one, unless you want to waste money.

Rough checking in. Apparently no staff showed up to work in the hotel except for two people. We had a store our luggage in a liquor storage closet. When we did get into our room, we had no towels, discovered after taking a shower.

We stayed two nights, with no housekeeping during our stay. We had two coffee pods for the first morning and a Keurig coffee maker that barely worked. Lamps on both side of the beds didn’t work. TV didn’t work. Room service was offered, but not available due to staff shortage.

Such a shame, because the hotel was beautiful.

Staff had a bad attitude, not friendly. Tolerated us at best. Obviously will not be returning to a Fred hotel

This property has potential but they are letting it go. Lots of small issues like lack of cleaning, non-functioning ice machines, bathroom door (in our unit) wouldn't close, lack of chairs in the unit, & outdoor furniture in disrepair. Then the hot water was out for the 3 days we were there, and a neighbor said it had been out for several days prior. No communication from the office unless we stopped in. They said it was getting fixed, but it never did. What really put the place in the negative was the staff. While several were really pleasant, there were at least 5 who were more rude than at any public establishment we've ever been in. From the way they spoke to us, to completely ignoring us, (and others around us). They would walk right past us to serve or just chat with what appeared to be local friends. While I'm not judging the activity, we watched one young woman spend about a third of her working time smoking weed & hanging out with locals just over the property line next door. Smoke all you want but maybe drop off a beer on your way past the table.

Property very outdated, definitely could use some updating. Needs work on housekeeping, floors and restroom dirty and bed sheets had sand and didn’t seemed to be washed. Not stocked with any toilet paper enough towels. Restaurant was pretty decent but the service was horrible. But the view was gorgeous. And the front desk staff were fantastic!

Do not bother staying here. It is a super nice property but has terrible/indifferent service. Not having an owner or proper manager on site has left this hotel wanting. Staff sat around eating and drinking amongst themselves. Trash was laying around each morning....they don't bother picking it up at night. Room was just OK. Safe did not work, remotes did not work.

Our room Aunt B, was very nice and clean, the views were great, basically the whole property and sea!!! The food was excellent along with the staff, they were so accommodating and helpful and professional. I would definitely recommend staying, just know the music and entertainment is lively!! We had a taxi driver Rockers which topped of wonderful stay by taking us around, showcasing areas.

I absolutely loved my stay here I can’t wait to visit again. The hotel staff and the locals were very friendly. Mrs Dalia was awesome to have at our service she was very attentive. The staff was so awesome the cook Scott was very nice and always nice to talk to. Michael and Crystal was great as well. I look forward to staying here again.

My husband and I really enjoyed our 6 day vacation at The Fred. The property is undoubtedly beautiful with a cool boho rockstar vibe. It was really nice staying somewhere that was adults only. The food was yummy and amenities were very nice. The only issue we had was upon arrival being placed in a room decorated in The Grateful Dead theme. We were not comfortable with it and felt like the guests should have the option to choose that room or not from the beginning. We let the staff know and they were gracious to switch out our room. Other than that it was lovely, and we would definitely stay there again.

The Fred is a wonderful beachfront hotel! Our room was overlooking the beach. And the bar/restaurant and pool were all just right down the stairs. The staff was very nice. My only negative comment is the cleanliness. Although the room was clean, some aspects were missed. The beach and bathrooms by the pool were not completely cleaned each night. That being said, I would still recommend staying at The Fred!!

I liked that the property was quiet and we felt safe for the most part. There was an issue with an adjoining room, but it was fixed.
There were some cleaning issues. The sheets were dingy and the bathroom needs more attention.

This is a lovely place to stay with great service, tasty drink and food menus, calm beautiful waters. There is a great pool and hot tub, and it's walkable to other great things in Fredericksted. Many other fun and beautiful things are within easy driving distance.
