When I first checked in, I was put in room 306, and it was dirty. It didn’t look like it had been properly cleaned at all. I actually took pictures because I couldn’t believe the condition it was in. I ended up being moved to room 103, but no one apologized or really acknowledged the inconvenience, which didn’t sit right with me.

After that, things still didn’t improve. I didn’t receive any housekeeping services the entire time I was there. My room was never cleaned, and I also have pictures to show that. It just felt like I wasn’t being taken care of as a guest at all.

Then on top of everything, my key card stopped working because my reservation was ended early without anyone telling me. My stay wasn’t supposed to end until today, so being locked out and having to go get access again was really frustrating.

Overall, this has been the worst experience I’ve had at Extended Stay America, and I don’t feel like the service matched what I paid for. I would really like to request a refund because of everything that happened.

The price was low and you get what you pay for. This is a very basic hotel, which was fine for our needs. No lobby - the check-in area is a window (like a bank teller) with limited hours. My elderly parents thought the mattresses were too thin and uncomfortable. Rooms are basic but they're not run down nor smelly. Walls are on the thin side, but for the price it was fine.

The rooms are old and dated. The beds are very small and extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom still had toothpaste and hair from previous person that occupied the room. It smelled awful. Luckily I brought shampoo and soap because none was provided. Will definitely not stay again. The front desk staff were extremely nice!

The employee at the front desk was one of the rudest humans I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. No greeting, no smile, nothing but attitude from start to finish. She asked for both adult’s identification when checking in which my husband inquired about because we had never encountered that at any hotel in any state ever. She replied, “show it or don’t stay here”. He never refused and was just inquiring because we have never been asked to do that anywhere else and it wasn’t listed anywhere when booking so could be an issue for people if only one adult had their id with them. The entire interaction she kept saying “you don’t have to stay here”. She didn’t have a name badge and when we asked her name she ignored us. She finally growled, “Anna” after we asked 3 times and she stated she was reporting us to management. If we wouldn’t have lost our money we would have left. When we get to the room it smelled like cat urine, there was a dead roach in the fridge, and just overall very grimy. Our kids were literally crying asking to stay in the car. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had!

The bed was u comfortable was the room was clean and the staff was amazingly nice. It’s tucked away so we don’t feel like we are too much down town. The only downside besides the bed comfort is that there is a huge unmarked pothole on the street as you turn in but that’s a city problem, not the hotels responsibility. You’re super close to pretty much anything you want as far as shopping and food!

Staff was very friendly and greeted me upon arrival. He even directed me to my room. The bed was made and the linens were clean. The floor was in need of a Swiffer. The television had no channels in working order so I watched you tube clips. The fridge, stove and counter were all clean. The bathroom was clean. The bathroom door had not been closed for a while and maybe had swollen a bit from steam over the years so it was not able to be shut past the halfway point. I left and returned from the buidling a couple times, it was easy and secure. There is plenty of of food and entertainment nearby. The elevator was convenient. There was plenty of parking available. It was a nice stay. Checkout is at 11 am. Which is generous. I enjoyed my stay and I will come back to extended stay in the future.

I always stay here when in Dayton on business. This hotel gives me everything i could ask for - its clean, economical, safely located, and has a full sized fridge and large microwave so i can save money not having to go out to eat. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There's no frills or luxury but its always clean and functional for a great price.

Upon arrival asked the clerk where the ice machine was located. Found no ice on the property. Also no drinking cups available in the room. Along with that the remote control for the TV had no batteries, This was the first 20 mins of our 2 day stay. Other residents had the TV so loud you could not sleep. Also for a non smoking property this property had smoked filled rooms and smokers in the parking lot. Just not able to ever stay at this property again.

An extended stay motel where everything is priced extra. Room service, extra charge. Good wifi, extra charge. Pots and pans to use in the mini kitchen, extra charge. Change of towels, extra charge. The room was very sparse, not clean, broken blinds on our first floor room (so folks walking by could see us on bed)

The hotel was wonderful loved it but I was really disappointed when I got a call being accused of stealing when I fact I took all the bedding and towels and put them in pillow cases and cleaned the room making it easy on housekeeping because I was a Hilton GM for. Over 20 years . Instead of checking they right away called telling me the police would be involved when I took nothing I could have left the room messy. I was so disappointed and couldn’t believe such accusations. I will never return or recommend this property.

You get what you pay for

The room was not cleaned. It was stuffy and smelly. Room had a kitchenette but in order to use it we had to rent pots for $40 and plates and silverware for an additional $20. A complete rip off. So disappointed. No one was available during check out in the morning so I spent 8 min on a lobby phone trying to figure out how I can check out and leave the keys. This is unacceptable.

Won't Stay Here Again

When I arrived there was no one at the \"front desk\" and there was a wait before anyone showed up. It was late and I was tired so that wasn't very pleasant. The room was spartan with no amenities, more like a dorm room than a hotel. When I checked in there was a dirty plastic cup on the kitchen sink. The handle on the freezer was broken. There was a badly patched hole in the bathroom sink. That was one of the least comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The kitchen was a nice idea but who travels with pots, pans, dishes, and silverware? The room I was in overlooked the kennel next door but the barking dogs were drowned out by noise from the adjacent freeway. The winding road to the hotel is so badly overgrown I thought Google Maps sent me to a vacant lot. The best I can say is the room was better than sleeping in my car at a rest stop. If that was representative of ESA I will definitely not stay there again and cannot recommend it to anyone who isn't desperate to get out of the rain.

My one big issue was that I booked a room for 2 nights. I had an event to go to the 2nd night that ran rather late. When I got back to my room at 1130PM my card did not work. However, there was no one at the desk. I had to actually call the hotel number to have someone come make me another card.

Convenient to shopping, entertainment & highways. Poor service awaiting someone to check me in, even when using the lobby phone. Waited 20 minutes. Associate offered no apology, yet stated she was on the 4th floor. ???? There was a device plugged in and running on the desk. I thought it was an air purifier. I didn’t bother to ask, but unplugged it bcz of the noise. Later I noticed it said QT thunder OZONE machine. I then noticed stains on the walls & floors. For the price, I didn’t expect extravagance, but I always expect clean. Why was I put in a room w/ this contraption? Was there til the next morning, thoroughly disgusted. Lesson learned

As a solid travelled I am always hyper-aware of security and safety. Being above the first floor was a great start to the stay. Double lock doors, adjustable window blinds and electronic key entry beyond the lobby all helped me feel sure the stay would be secure. I also liked the floor plan, being that the bed was tucked between a half wall across from the doors. Staff was friendly and efficient and the hotel was clean and quiet

The stay was fine, but check-in was a bit crazy. There was a homeless guy in the lobby, which was fine, but he was the only one there. I arrived very late, so the desk was sectioned off. I went back to my car to call the general hotline and the hostess, who was very courteous, came back and sorted everything out, but it was bizarre. The room itself was clean and well-kept and this situation was definitely a-typical, but I was slightly concerned for the first 15 minutes or so.

We went to the room & immediately shut the door & went back to the front desk & tlod them this room & facility is unacceptable. They would not give us back the 2 nights stay as they said they have a refund policy.

Our problems with this property started immediately on arrival. I had a group of 8 rooms and we arrived about 4pm. I was told that due to staffing shortages and a bunch of other issues (lots of checkouts and checkins), our rooms wouldn't be ready until 5:30pm. Was told the hotel manager would talk to me about the issue (in fact, I was told the hotel's GM would be in contact with me several times, and have never heard from them). Once we were finally in the building, the hotel itself had an odd smell - it did not smell clean, and my students reported their floors were sticky. There are no carpets anywhere in this hotel - it is linoleum throughout the hallways and the rooms.

The office closed at 8, so when we had several evening issues (wifi problems, lockout at 2 am) it took some time for the agent to come down to the office and take care of them. I'd never been in a hotel without a 24 hour desk before, and I won't again.

The wifi situation was very odd - once logged in on the free wifi on my phone, I was never able to upgrade - was told there was someone on site that could help, but the desk agent at the time told me he wasn't able to help. There was also a problem with our in-room phone, and the second one they brought. It was a good thing my students had cell phones for us to communicate.

The area the hotel is in is fine during the day, but seems to get really sketchy after dark - this could have been the folks staying at the time, or the area.

I would not recommend anyone stay here. The only good thing about this hotel was the kind lady that checked me in. Got into my room with only two towels and two pillows that were the flattest pillows I’ve ever seen in my whole life. Then the next morning check out was at 11 and the front desk lady came around beating at the door at 10:30 saying front desk. Which was completely unnecessary. By fair the worst place I’ve stayed at.

Upon checking in around 3:00 on Saturday, I was informed that the front desk would close at 8PM and wouldn't re-open until 8AM on Sunday (not sure how they handle late check-ins). Upon attempting to check out at 10:45 on Sunday morning, the front desk was still closed. Several other guests were already trying to check out and were rather irate that the front desk was still closed at that hour. Additionally, there was a sign at the front desk stating that it would be closed from 1PM to 5PM on Sunday afternoon. I'm thinking that there may not have been any staff or management on the premises from Saturday night into Sunday morning, and that situation may not meet code or be legal in the state of Ohio. The Woodspring Suites Dayton South is a very bad situation waiting to happen... or perhaps it has already. I'm currently attempting to identify the proper authorities to report this incident. Very bad situation.

The room was very clean and well designed. The pillows weren't great, but the bed was clean and comfortable. We traveled 2 1/2 hrs for a wedding and were allowed early check-in in order to get changed and ready instead of traveling in our dress clothes. We immediately got an iron/ironing board when asked. It was an overall great stay.

This “hotel/dorm room” was horrible. When I arrived the front desk was closed and I had to call a number to get someone to help me. 20 minutes later, someone came down to check me in. I was asked to sign a document about not smoking in the room or it was a hefty fine. When I got to my room, the door was able to be opened by just pushing it. The door would not latch to secure it closed. The room smelled like a smokers break room. I ended up sleeping on top of the bed due to dirty sheets. It was an absolute horrible experience and only slept about an hour.
