We stayed in a family room by the pool. It was awesome. Great property. Lovely staff. Comfy beds. Delicious breakfast. Pool was warm. Hot tub could be hotter. Wish there was a microwave in the room. Pool was very nice, and while the resort does overall seems family friendly, the pool is overall somewhat small and includes a swim up bar...so kids jumping, thrashing, splashing around isn't necessarily compatible. I did feel like I had to police my kids quite a bit to prevent them splashing people sitting at the bar/the bar itself just due to the size of the pool.

We loved our stay at Hotel Poco a Poco! The location is perfect—close to town but still peaceful—and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. Our room was clean and cozy, and the restaurant served excellent meals. The only downside was that the pool and jacuzzi were under renovation during our visit, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommended for a Monteverde stay!

Great service. Excellent breakfast buffet and good restaurant. There is a lot of dining option in a walking distance also.
Nice tropical garden where we can observe hummingbirds and a toucan.
The only bothering thing was that the breaker of the A/C had to be repaired twice in 2 days (it get very humid in the room without ventilation even if it is not that warm) but we had service for it has soon as requested

Stayed for 2 nights. Buffet style breakfast which was excellent. Fantastic pool and grounds. Staff excellent. Some lovely restaurants in Monteverde but not an easy walk if you have any mobility issues. We loved it. Also 5 minute walk to the “ficus tree”. Would recommend doing the San Juan, sugar cane, chocolate and coffee tour and the hanging bridges.

10/10 hotel. Family of 4 (2 adults 2 12 yr old). Staffs were helpful and very friendly. No uber in this town. They helped us arranged taxi pickup and drop off. Location is perfect quick walk to downtown, supermarkets and restaurants. Room is spacious and clean. Water pressure was a little low for shower. Otherwise everything is perfect. Loved the marshmallow they provided. Would recommend and would stay here again.

Very nice property, beautifully done. Great check-in experience, spa treatment utilized by a couple of people from our small group was excellent. Pool is great too. A beautiful stray girl visited me 2 days in a row, I'm guessing the place doesn't show cruelty towards her, so that's a wonderful thing. The food at their restaurant was mediocre, but there are many places just 50 steps away from the property. I'd highly recommend the place.

Our room was across from the hotel restaurants kitchen so we could hear that noise whenever they we open. There was also construction just outside of our room which was quite loud. The room itself had two tiny windows that opened, no air conditioning or even a bathroom fan so when we showered the whole space steamed up and only somewhat dried if we opened the main door. By the time we left all of our clothes felt damp even if we hadn’t worn them. Some of the staff were very helpful while others were not at all—a young woman at the check in desk seemed bothered to look up shuttle times/costs for us. The restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the food/drinks. The jacuzzi was not warm. Overall I would not recommend this spot even though it is cute and convenient.

Les chambres sont beaucoup trop petite, l'hôtel n'est pas conçue pour affronter l'humidité de monteverde et on y ait toujours inconfortable. Aucun patio pour nous, le dejeuner est horrible et les serveurs ne remplissent pas le cafe.
Nous avons eu un bris de tuyau dans la chambre et on a eu 3 pouces d'eau au sol qui a mouillés nos bagages et rendu la chambre innabitable. On nous a changé de chambre. Mais l'hôtel n'a rien proposé pour compenser tel un lavage de nos vêtements que j'ai du demandé. Aucune compensation offerte, j'ai du demandé la politique de compensation a la maison mere treebuhotel et j'attends toujours la compensation depuis 2 semaines.

The location was very convenient, with plenty of dining options within walking distance, and the town was easily accessible. Parking was available for guests, which was a nice perk. However, since it was the low season, there was ongoing construction that was quite noisy, particularly outside our hotel room. The work continued until around 7-8pm each day, which made it difficult to relax. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and even welcomed us with a small treat for our honeymoon and assisted in booking a tour. The free breakfast, however, was inconsistent. Some items were cold, other days some items were missing, and the portions were small. The food never seemed fresh. One morning, when we asked for both juice and coffee, they initially said no, but the next day they gave us both without issue. Perhaps in high season it would be better.

The staff at Poco a Poco were so incredibly kind and accommodating, they were a pleasure every time we had a question or needed something.

The amenities of the property were clean and well-maintained, having a covered pool and hot tub was such a big plus for us since we visited during the rainy season. The property even has a walking trail on its grounds where you can see capuchin monkeys in the trees above you!

They're also in the process of updating and revamping the interiors of some of the units, so I can only imagine how much better the property will be after! I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to stay again during my next time in Monteverde!

Comfortable stay in Monteverde. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Free breakfast was delicious. Close to town, walkable to restaurants. There is a cute little park with a mini Zipline across the street the kids enjoyed. The hot tub was great. Would have been nice if the pool was heated (it was freezing).

The road from La Fortuna to Monteverde is an adventure in and if itself! Very drivable but bumpy! The cloudforest sits atop the mountains! Poco a Poco has beautiful rooms on beautiful property. We walked the paths on site with flowers, forestry, and butterflies! We had a wonderful relaxing massage at the Spa. I would definitely recommend!

Our stay at the hotel Poco a Poco was an incredibly positive experience. From the very beginning, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was exceptionally clean, which added to our comfort. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time thanks to the attentive service.

The staff arranged cars for us and booked our tours, making our stay hassle-free. The food in the restaurant was top-notch, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes. The selection of cocktails was impressive, and we enjoyed trying different ones each evening. The surrounding nature was beautiful, providing a serene backdrop to our stay. The pool was clean and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax. Overall, we had an amazing experience and highly recommend this hotel.

The grounds are well maintained, the breakfast service was great and the staff was friendly. Just across the street are some decent restaurants and a grocery store. It's a short 2-3 block walk to the town square.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay here. It was a beautiful property with a nice path through their gardens and some wilderness, that was home to a variety of singing birds. They have a fire pit with marshmallows our kids enjoyed roasting. Service was spectacular and every worked was very friendly. Breakfast was yummy too. It’s just a couple minute walk to a nice grocery store (to fill up the fridge they give you for the room), many restaurants, and a bakery if your heart desires. We would definitely come back.

Great location and very nice resort/spa. All the Staff were great and very accommodating to requests. One thing to note is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms which was not an issue since temperatures were cool except that your wet clothing (it rained a lot when I was there) would not dry out. It was an easy walk to many shops, restuarants, etc. Biggest negative was that the hot tub was not hot and the jets were not working some of the time.

This was such a great place to stay. So close to the town, and very walkable yet it felt like you were away from everything when at the hotel. Great place for families. Their trails are fun to explore and make sure you check out the frog zoo down the road. Everyone had a great time.

The hotel was definitely walkable to shops and restaurants, although if you go to the main town area, you will have to walk up a fairly steep hill on the way back. The property is huge, multiple pools and trails to explore. A short drive into town. The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and spacious.

I would stay again. The only thing I didn’t expect was to have to drive from the room to the restaurant or pools because the property is so spread out!

As a bird watcher their back garden path had amazing birds! Wish we could have spent more time here just enjoying the property. They had a night time fire pit which was nice. You can request marshmallows from the kitchen for roasting (nice touch). Staff was super friendly and we were treated with drinks as we checked in. Would come back!

The property was very nice with walking paths around and lots of outdoor sitting areas. The pool and hot tub were covered and looked great, but we did not use either. The food in the restaurant was also very good. The only things we would have changed is a softer bed and with the windows behind the shutters open it could be a little noisy. Unfortunately we didn’t notice they were open until we were checking out. Would definitely stay here again.

Strange smell, very friendly staff

The staff was super friendly, the drinks were good. However there was a strange smell in our room both nights that we have not experienced anywhere else. We thought it might be the drain, but we closed the washroom door and it was not that. We had to open the windows for a bit to let it air out but the smell came back. We do not know what it was from and since it was our second and last night there we did not inform the property. We faintly smelled it the first night but it was more pronounced the second night. The food at the restaurant was okay (compared to the other places we have been to) but the staff were super friendly so that was nice.

Bromelia room had no airconditioning and what made it worse was the main window by the door was mostly fixed glass so air flow in unit was poor. As soon as we would get in the room we left the door open to bring in some fresh air. Also there are no proper closets in this room. On the plus side gardens are beautiful to walk around in the morning with lots of birda and also an agouti.

The hotel’s restaurant, Otocuma, and its staff is simply amazing. No beed to go out and search for restaurants, you will want to eat there. We had some of the best meals of our trip there. The hotel’s yard and surrounding are so beautiful and relaxing. Perfect after a day of excursions in Monteverde. The room was clean, quiet, perfect for a 2 night stay. We loved our stay at Hotel Poco a Poco.

This hotel was great! Lili was extremely helpful at checkin and, later, when she booked a tour for us. The room was quiet and comfortable; it even came with a half bottle of wine! The bed was very comfy. The restaurant was a few steps away from our room and served excellent breakfasts and a dinner. The server handled special dietary requests very well. The pool area was also quite pleasant.

I strongly recommend staying at this hotel. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are really comfy, and the food is delicious. They even have options for vegetarians and vegans.
I went there with my elderly mother and my sister who recently injured her knee. They were super accommodating, giving us special rooms and parking.
You will enjoy your stay at this lovely hotel. I sure did. I'm already looking forward to going back.

The hotel is well maintained around the grounds with a nice walking trail. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was mostly nice except some ants crawling around the coffee maker and the mattress in our room was very used and old; I could feel the springs coming through. I can sleep on the ground w/o issues but someone with back problems wouldn't do well there.

We absolutely loved Poco a Poco! We were booked at a different hotel but left after one night because it was so awful. We are just sad we didn’t get to stay at Poco a Poco longer. It is absolutely the friendliest staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in. We got massages and facials- both were amazing. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The grounds are just breathtaking. If we come back to Monteverde, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

This place is a dream. To be in the midst of a cloud forest and yet surrounded by a little chique luxury and totally unique pool spa and bar. Breakfast was lush and staff are all so helpful and supremely friendly and speak perfect English. Go there and you will never regret your decision.

On the positive side, good location. Checkin was good, and the restaurant was good. Breakfast at the restaurant was really good. There are a bunch of restaurants <100ft away, and we enjoyed dinner there.

On the okay side, room.. yes, just ok. Relatively small, and with just the basic amenities.

On the negative side, bathroom.. no exhaust fan and the whole room smells bad after some one had their job inside the bathroom. On top of that, was told to use the garbage can for the toilet papers (really??).. wonder what it would have been like if we had done that.

Room had flimsy walls.. when ever some one was walking outside the room, we were able to hear their footsteps, and of course their talk. Our room was just above the pool, and it was quite noisy for a while. And no AC.

Wonder how/why this is a four star hotel.

The staff were great, especially Isaac and Pedro. They helped us feel welcomed. The front desk persons were outstanding also. The property is in a good location and is a relaxing place to rest

The hotel is just okay. There is no a/c and I understand they are trying to be sustainable but the least they could do is have a small fan for the room. Our room had a small 2x2 window that opened which didn’t give any airflow. The room just felt stuffy all the time! The bathroom doesn’t have a fan so even our fresh towels were damp 24/7. Nothing dries here including any water coming from the shower or sink. The door isn’t even properly sealed to the frame and the deadbolt didn’t work so it didn’t feel very safe. You can hear EVERYTHING because there is no proper seals to any door. No mini fridge so we couldn’t keep drinks cold or bring home food. Everyday our towels seem to dwindle. Started with 4 bath towels and the next day only had two and the following day our face clothes were gone. It’s clean in the room and the sheets had a strong cleaner smell. The hotel it’s self is nice to walk around but it smells like a sewer system near the entrance and the ramp to the pool. Drinks at the bar are good and the breakfast was good. Overall would not recommend this place.

Absolutely amazing hotel. It is beautiful and staff is very friendly and helpful. The gardens in the property were a nice surprise. The pool is covered and warm, so we were able to enjoy during a warm rainy evening. The food in the restaurant was also really good.

Property was very nice. Beautiful grounds. Great pool. Nice walking trail which I really liked. Private gated parking for my moto. Beautiful pool, and outdoor yoga area and other outdoor relaxing areas. All of the above was outstanding.
The negatives were, my room received a good bit of heat in the window off the lower level metal roof (right outside my window) This made it hard to get my room down to even outside temps. And no A/C.
My last concern, for such a nice CR property, with hiking trails and yoga center…. The breakfast options were all very heavy. Every option contained fried foods. These were to heavy for me. I would love to see a healthy light option such as granola or oatmeal yogurt fruit and toast. Nothing like that was available.

Overall 4 out of 5 due to the above. Almost a perfect property.

Overall I am a bit disappointed with Expedia on this one. Despite the 4 star rating, this really should have been 3 stars. The heated and covered pool with swim up bar and happy hour specials was nice but there were really no other amenities on the property (ie gym) or room (extra space, dining table, soundproofing) to warrant a 4th star. The food at the restaurant was not good (fish tacos were made with frozen fish sticks). Also the “kids club” was just a small play kitchen for 3-4 year olds and not a true kids club.

Unfortunately this was not a 4 star hotel. The shower did not close properly and flooded into the room. In addition, there is no air conditioning or mini fridge in the room. We tried to stay outside the room until we needed to rest.
