I felt very safe and the reception is open 24/7. I brought my own disinfectant kit whenever I used provided utilities such as sinks, toilets, and shower knobs.
There's was a locker underneath my bed, I had no idea to bring my own lock so I bought one at the desk. Very english friendly in a language barrier environment.
I also didnt know it was a bar, but I didn't mind the partying that occurred the floor below.
Highly recommendable for Night life and budget trips.
At Night, the canal outside looks beautiful.

The rooms smell bad, there is no hand sanitizer, there is no hairdryer, the room is very, very cold, the heating does not work, and the hostel does not have a refrigerator to store food, a very bad place I do not recommend, the only good thing is that Mrs. Rose the receptionist is a very nice person.

Right next to parks and canals as well as being near small, cute and cool cafes and restaurants.
Because its right near the canal at night there can be shady characters, but it's not dangerous.
It can be cery loud at night because of the bar so its a perfect party hostel and not really one for chilling while traveling.

The room was comfortable, but some of the receptionists and a restaurant manager were so rude.
I stayed 7 nights total. When I added one more night after the 4 nights of stay, I accidentally clicked on 6 mixed room reservation instead of the same 6 women's room I Stayed for 4 nights. I ran down to ask if I could change to the same room, instead of checking out and go to a different room, a receptionist asked for the additional 17 Euro. I just left the reception area.
Two days later, the same woman accompanied a security guard, abruptly opened the room door while we were talking about America vs. France with a room mate, saying \"it was reported someone speaking English woman was screaming in this room\". I asked, \"did you hear my voice from outside?\"
After she Knew she got the wrong room, she even did not apologize for being rude.

Another issue was a manager, came to me when I was eating Chicken avocado sandwich I ordered, \"You are eating somebody else's food.\" I knew that was my order because it was not the first time I ordered the chicken menu. I did not respond while I was eating and after I finished eating, I walked to the manager. \"What happened? It was my order.\"
The manager never said sorry for what he did to the restaurant customer. He just walked into the kitchen.
He knew I left a big tip for the waiter that I did not know the tips were shared. After I found out the tips were shared, No Tips! I don't think I want to give the tips even a penny to some people rude .

The hostel stay has been incredibly disappointing, with negative experiences across all areas. The most troubling aspect is the extremely rude behavior of both the management and reception staff. Their lack of professionalism and unhelpful attitude has made the stay unpleasant for many guests. Basic customer service is ignored, and any issues raised are met with hostility rather than solutions. The overall environment is unwelcoming, making it difficult to feel comfortable or enjoy the stay. This lack of respect and care for guests reflects poorly on the hostel, and serious improvements are needed, especially in staff behavior.

The hostel room is spacious, bed with curtains, a storage underneath the bed but it requires a large lock to lock, a normal padlock can't lock it. But there is a bar downstairs which opens until 3 am. I had no problem with the noise, but others in the room could not sleep at night due to the noise and had to close the window. There are no fans or air conditioning in the room. Closing the window in the summer in Paris meant suffocation and hot to me, and that made me unable to sleep.

The condition in the toilet/bathroom is OK. But some showers were blocked or had boiling water.

Lys, the host at the front desk was super friendly and helpful! She also is really charming & funny, which makes the whole process that much more enjoyable. Lys is very well informed and will definitely give you practical advice for all of your inquiries. This is reflected throughout the property. There’s a bar & cafe on the ground floor directly on the canal. The bartender is really efficient and cordial! The rooms and showers were quiet, calm and surrounded by greenery.

Really enjoyed this stay! I stayed in the 6 people room with a private bathroom and balcony. Meeting travelers and sharing our itineraries made the trip so much more fun. The room had a lot of bugs which was a down fall and we didn’t have Wi-Fi for the first couple of days. Got Wi-Fi the last 2 nights of my stay. The workers were really nice and accommodating. The hostel bar closes at a certain time and after that only people staying in the hostel are allowed in and the security at the front door makes sure of it. I felt safe and would recommend to solo travelers. Also perfect place to stay if you want to hop on the train or bus and go around Paris. Not too close to all the main attractions which was very nice. Coming back from a long day and seeing people relaxing on the canal or joining people on the canal was great!

Overall a good hostel to stay at. The elevator was out so it was a hassle to carry luggage up many flights of stairs.

Area feels much less like a tourist area which is nice, but not as much dining around.

The room and bathrooms were fairly clean. Restaurant in the hostel was also very good and you get a discount which is nice.

I was a single female staying here in a mixed dorm and I felt very safe. The hostel has a security guard and every floor is key locked as well as your room. I couldn’t hear noise from the other rooms and I was very impressed with how clean the hostel was kept. The neighbourhood homes a lot of families and is full of bars, bakeries, restaurants and ice cream. You only need to take 1 metro line to get to the main attractions and the distance means that everything in the neighbourhood is cheeper than you would find closer to the city center

Kudos to reception & security staff!!! They’re amazing individuals!! They continue to offer great customer service regardless of the difficulties they face! I observed some extremely difficult guests and the staff dealt with the situation so calmly it was impressive!! They truly want to assist guests and ensure you have a fabulous time as a guest. I did enjoy my stay and was impressed by the cleaning & maintenance staff! They’re efficient and pay attention to detail. There are many hotels who do not clean as often as this cleaning staff!
There were “chill spots” and activities on a regular basis if one were so inclined to participate. This was a great stay and I look forward to the next!

You cannot control temperatures in the showers. I had to wash my hair in a utility sink because the shower was so hot I could not stand in it. The staff were VERY rude. One day I was allowed to buy coffee, the next day, it was forbidden. There was a security guard monitoring the kitchen entrance. The lockers in the rooms were so small. I t says that they have free cancellation, which is untrue unless you're willing to change rooms. I got what I paid for - I would not recommend it to anyone. You can take transit, but the neighbourhood at night is so scetchy, that you need to take a taxi, which the front desk wouldn't call for me.

It's an affordable place to stay but unfortunately, we didn't meet any fun or chatty people which is annoying because I've stayed in many party hostels before. Everyone is very sociable but the people in our room weren't which makes me wonder why they are staying in a hostel if you are antisocial like go away and stay in a private room dear but apart from that when the staff take the deposit from you on the card for the keys they give it back to you as cash which is silly because I didn't want cash id rather you put it back on the card you took it off.

Stayed in a private room with a sink and a small table in it. Bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable. Location is near gare du Nord hence why I booked the hostel so was passable for a couple of nights but next time I'd stay somewhere more comfortable.

The staff was one of the best parts of staying here. They were extremely friendly and helpful and fun to interact with/talk to. I met someone really nice people here. The area is really beautiful because it’s on the water, and it’s pretty convenient because it’s not far from the metro and easy to walk to other places. Also I asked one of the locals at the bar if he thought it was a safe area and he said he definitely thought it was. I didn’t feel unsafe, even walking around at night. Cleanliness was not perfect, but still quite good. The soap dispensers in the bathrooms didn’t always work well, so I had to press the button 8-10 times to get enough. The floors/toilets/showers were in good condition. They have people that come in and clean every day I think. The beds were comfortable and the curtains were nice for privacy and overall the rooms were pretty nice. There are crates under the beds where you can store your belongings, and you can buy a padlock for just €2. The bar/restaurant is a fun place to be if you don’t have anything going on during the evening. They have good music, a pretty large drink menu, and you can play beer pong. I met several other people staying at the hostel in the bar who I ended up hanging out with more throughout my stay, quite a lively place. And the food they serve was actually really good ! Also you get discounts on food/drinks if you are staying at the hostel which is nice. Wifi was a bit touchy, but not too bad. Overall great experience.

Stayed in Oct 2020 and the lift/elevator was not working. It wasn't working when l stayed in March 2020 either. You need to keep pressing the button every 20 seconds to use the shower which is very annoying. To borrow the hair dryer you need to go down to the reception and leave your ID.

Worth the money

Stayed here for one night. Room and bed were huge compared to other hostels. Room was clean but toilets should be cleaned more often. Curtain and bedside lamp were nice plus. The ladder on the bunk bed was quite difficult to climb. Nice location close to metro and supermarket. Unfortunately lockers are quite expensive if you want to store your luggage.

I met a lot of people and the staff was very nice. Make sure you bring a lock and a towel because you will be charged for both. I have dust allergies so I had trouble sleeping at night so keep that in mind if you have allergies as well. The staff was very nice and helpful.

St. Christopher's is a welcoming hostel with lots of different clients from around the world and of many different ages. The staff is helpful, and the rooms are clean and minimalist. The daily events and hostel bar are great for meeting people. The location near the Villette offers access to great shops, restaurants, bakeries, and bars, as well as a path to walk and run along the Canal.

Hot rooms but a nice staff

Clean hostel with a pretty nice layout. The problem is they don’t have any ventilation, a/c, or fans in the rooms. They are a sauna! It wasn’t even hot out and the rooms were so hot you woke up soaking wet with sweat. This is one of the more expensive hostels, they should have fans at least. The staff was nice and helpful though.

this has to be one of, if not the most comfortable hostel....with the set up....of beds on one side of the room and curtains.....which gives some privacy....and it is roomy....and the management, or owners seem to be concerned, about our comfort....which, as mentioned before, is appreciated...

Lovely place to stay. Breakfast was a bit if a let down especially for €5. I think the 'house rules' need to be reinforced, or a cut off time for coming back to the room, as the room I was in, the other women were coming in at midnight or 1am and turning on the light, it physically wakes me up. Apart from that everything was fine

The hostel is very good, clean and beautiful. With one elevator, big rooms and big beds with curtains for privacy, big individual lockers one of the bests that I ever been !! And also includes a luggage room for live your stuff, but this one it’s paid by hour or by day. But not that expensive and very safe !! Near to train stations and some shops. I found the building beautiful and the neighborhood pretty calm !!

Really nice hostel with great location. I also loved that there are privacy curtains for each bed.

The only downside was noisiness -- the doors make a lot of noise when they slam shut every time someone enters or exits the room (which happens often in 12-people rooms), and the crates under the beds for personal storage are made of metal and also make a ton of noise every time someone pulls them out.
