We absolutely loved our stay at Banyan Tree club Hotel! The place is wonderful, our room was beautiful and very comfortable, and the service throughout our stay was excellent. The restaurant food was delicious, and everything felt very well taken care of.

Concierge staff had terrible attitude!! That was the worst experience ever!!! We requested for baby bunk bed but the staff insisted we had to request this before checking in and they had no inventory whatsoever without checking. this was my fourth check in at this property and there was always a baby bunk bed provided nevertheless we never requested. He had a cranky and arrogant attitude which got me astonished!! Later one of the staffs provided us with adequate equipments but we wished the previous staff could have checked before saying he could never provide.
Also the check in out staff didn’t know what was going on. Which took us longer than we should spend at those moments.
Room service and house keeping was slow.. and wasnt accurate with their service.
Breakfast menu should be updated once in a while. I would give this property one star or less

Please save your money. If you are looking for a nice high end hotel, use the new Lottel Signiel Tower hotel. If you prefer location, Shilla hotel is more classy.

The only reason to stay at the banyan tree is the outdoor pool which is really expensive. However, everything else is not worth it.

VIP benefits stated by Expedia are meaningless at this hotel.

We had the suite but it literally had no windows. A window in the bedroom but opened to some wall.

Asked for some service such as extra coffee capsule but took forever.

Wanted to use the golf range but they charged us.

Wanted to use the indoor pool after checkout but they said no.

There is a kids club but can't be used by hotel guests.

Some of the food was served rather cold. Other food such as vegetables were noticeably dirty.

In general, this is a club for members. If you are visting, I highly recommend the other hotels mentioned above. Staff are somewhat rude. There are some expectations for a high end hotel and they have failed in many ways.

Disappointing customer service and food quality

Considering this is a 5-star hotel, I expected punctuality, to say the least. However, our check-in was delayed by 50 minutes, and their reason was because housekeeping wasn’t ready, which is an unreasonable excuse.

By the time we got to our room, the shower booth was still wet (I assume it was from the cleaning), which left us unpleasant.

On a different but related note, room service was horrible. I’ve had better tasting food at my neighborhood restaurant, and french fries we ordered were not crisp. McDonald’s has better fries than this place.

For a 5-star hotel, I don’t think the expectations I had were extremely high. Just be punctual and elevate the food quality, at least better than that of McDonald’s.

Worth every penny! Location is amazing, you're in the city, about a mile from Itaewon and below Seoul Tower, but you feel like you're in a private setting as well, away from the hustle and bustle. The views from the room are unbeatable. One of the most spacious rooms I have ever stayed in. The facilities and amenities are unbeatable. The staff was extremely helpful and gracious.

Was there for one night for relaxing, it was a rainy day and our room was near or under the pipe or something, woke us up because of the water running sound all night long. The room was super clean and had amazing bathroom where you could enjoy a relaxing bath. Had dinner at the club house, good service and good food. The breakfast was included so I did not have high hopes but everything was clean and delicious and they even offered Korean meal options (with no extra charge) which was made to order.

The hotel was okay but it's not worth the price. Any of the listed amenities or either non-functioning or outdated. The food was okay but nothing to really write home about. Overall I think this hotel is living off of a name that it established years ago. For the cost associated with the room, I expected this hotel to be much more accommodating. I will not stay here again.

Luxury Hotel with not enough trained staffs

I booked 2 rooms, one primer suite and another Banyan room
I arrived there at 3 pm exact time it mentioned on paper.
But i needed to wait for over 30 min to receive the Keys, as they told the room's not ready, i can understand but they did not tell me why it takes so long, i was sitting in front of Check-in desk without explanation. And the staffs were not very kind, they just passed by every time i faced them in elevators or at the lobby.
Breakfast was also very disapointed, there were not much food and the staffs were not very kind to ask what customers need. The tables were not enough for all the guests at the hotel.
For the luxury hotel like this, i expected lot higher service, but not satisfied at all.
i do not think i will use this hotel again

Very spacious room with good view, comfortable bed, and quiet.
But the room was bit cold during night, not ideal to stay in the middle of winter.
It took almost 1 hour to get my breakfast menu, the tiny restaurant was full on Saturday morning, and the staff missed my order. It was a bit disappointing, and not pleasant experience.

Nice hotel, but not worth the money spent

First of all, while checking in, I had to ask all the questions about Orbitz VIP perks because the staff did not know about them. The unique feature is a room with a spa bathtub of more than a king size bed and sauna in the shower booth. That's all. Nothing special anymore. The spa bathtub was supposed to be at a constant temperature automatically, but it gradually went down. To raise the temperature, it is necessary to call a staff, which was very uncomfortable to those who visited here for a private moment. The hotel says that water in the bathtub constantly is being cleaned, but I saw floating matters in the water. And the sauna system could not reach its target temperature 50 Celsius degrees. Lastly, after the check-out, a staff in the reception desk forgot to call a cap for me, keeping me waiting outside. Plus, the doorman did not ask anything to me watching me waiting for a cab.

Good but could have been better.

We came here for a 2 day break at the beginning of our honeymoon looking for a relaxing and romantic stay. It drew us there because of the wide range of relaxing things to do including the indoor pool and the outside pool called the \"Oasis\". Prior to booking, I received an email from the hotel booking site with a message that the indoor pool was going to be closed the day we arrived. When we got there, we also found that the Oasis pool was closed too. Also, owing to an event, their terrace area was closed too. The closure of the Oasis was the biggest downpoint as on the photos and in person, it looks amazing, however, it was going through some significant building work and wouldn't be ready for another couple of weeks. We felt massively let down that we hadn't been told of this and there was no mention of this on their website when we booked. We complained and after being initially offered a bottle of wine and much further pushing on our part, we were offered dinner for two with wine in their restaurant, the Granum dining lounge. This turned out to be utterly amazing- one of the best meals I have ever had. From start to end and also the complimentary wine, we were blown away at how good it was. So all in all, we were satisfied with this compromise. The breakfast which is also served in this restaurant is excellent too- easily the best hotel buffet I have ever had with both western and Korean food to enjoy. We would have preferred if the hotel had been more proactive though.

Very friendly staff, but facility is limited

This hotel is located in the quiet area of Seoul and feels more like a resort or nice fitness club. But the room we stayed in was in an old remodeled building with very low ceiling furnished with dark furniture. Even though they try to make luxurious, the room was dark overall (we don't like anything dark). Otherwise, the location is good surround by green mountain and the staff was extremely friendly wanting to please us. Someone told us that the new main building has a higher ceiling. Overall, it is a nice hotel.

Love the views mountain and city views!

I was really pleased by my choice of hotel. I originally planned to stay at the Shilla or Westin but thought the Banyan will be different from the norm. It is! I really liked the tranquility pool in my suite. I normally would not use hotel pools (neurotic) but decided to give this a try. I enjoyed it a lot! The spa facilities and restaurants are also very good. The service - amazing! Thank you.

Great hardware; inconsistent service

The hardware of the hotel is great - the suite was spacious, very clean and the view is great. We stayed with our 7 month old and she had a ball in the relaxation pool. However, the service was very inconsistent - there was always something missing in the room service delivery (no cutlery; no napkins; or they forgot the tea), getting a taxi can for some reason be a very complicated exercise depending on who's at the reception, and we got the feeling that they are more used to serving local guests rather than international visitors. One thing to note is that the restaurants in the hotel are very sad looking - definitely not what we expected at a Banyan Tree (and we've stayed in a few). The Club restaurant was totally empty at dinner time and looked like a cafeteria in a 3-star hotel (we did not eat there). Perhaps they don't really expect you to eat there when there are so many options in town.

I visited this hotel with my husband and we had a good time since we really needed some peace and quiet these days. There is a nice trail nearby so we went for stroll breathing fresh air. The pool was nearly empty few people swimming. I definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

What a horrible stay in Seoul at 5 star hotel.

It's horrible stay. I stayed with my wife. she is pregnant(Feb. I'll be a father.) and it was her birthday. I wished she could take a rest for this stay. but!! she didn't sleep a wink at night. because some noisy at the ceiling from 1am to 8am.
and the control panel didn't work well, toilet smell was disgusting and bidet also didn't work very good.
Staff was kind enough, but the facility is not for 5 star hotel.

More Highway Stop than Mountain Idyll

The quality of your stay will depend entirely on where you stay—if you are over the spa, as we were at first, you are in a room with a big open chlorinated spa RIGHT next to the bed, and low acoustic tiled ceiling and highway views, like being in a pool room. For a steep price, we upgraded to the hotel proper, where the room was beautiful but the sophisticated electrical controls malfunctioned, leaving bathroom light shining through bedroom all night. Had to disconnect fuse leaving room without AC...Staff was the height of great service and politeness. Not a great area to be in if you want access to Seoul - more highway stop than mountain haven.

We stayed here for 4 nights looking for some luxury before moving to a smaller hotel in the city centre and some serious sight seeing The hotel is beautiful and our deluxe room with relaxation pool excellent, (ask for a room with a view of Seoul tower), floating in the pool admiring the view both by day and night was a joy. Breakfast was very good as was room service although a table in the room would have made eating more comfortable. The spa was also lovely and we had an excellent couples massage, but note that the spa areas are in a separate building and are japanese style with separate areas for men and women. Given the room rate we were disappointed to find that use of the spa facilities was not included in the price, this would have been costly had we chosen to spa each day. We knew the hotel was not centrally placed hence our later move into the centre, however the hotel is well placed to explore Namsan Park and Seoul Tower and as we like to walk we were able to walk to the metro, although some may find this too far. Strangely taxi drivers seemed unaware of the hotel and its location so carry name/location information in Korean with you if necessary.

Relaxation in the heart of Seoul

I am now a fan of Banyan Tree. Elegance and comfort in the heart of the city in their new urban spa concept. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished with relaxation pools, wrap around windows and a steam room. You are right next to Namsan mountain so you can be inside an urban forest in minutes...and you can't hear any traffic. The only drawback was the lack of knowledge of the concierge. Other than that, the service and staff were great.

Excellent location and luxurious accomodations.

The huge relaxation pool is a wonderful and unique addition to this stay. The quality of furnishing and food is as always opulent as per the Banyan Tree franchise. There were some compliant from other reviewers regarding the food and staff. We found the breakfast to be excellent throughout our stay. There are some attempts to change the variety of spread. The staff are more comfortable in Korean but all of them do try their best to accommodate service request even if they couldn't communicate efficiently in English. An excellent place and will return again. The location is great. You can hop on bus 420 to go Namdaemun or Dongdaemun or get on Bus 5 to go up the Namsan mountain and onwards to Myeong Dong and other areas.

Disappointing stay

Poor service was delivered through out our 2 nights stay. We tried to check in by 1:30pm after checking out from Grand Hyatt. The room was not ready by 3pm, the official time. Ok, we followed the rules. We left our luggage and tried to call a taxi. They put our luggage to the taxi mistakenly. The lobby was not busy at all. Still mixed up with just check in guests.
No introduction to the hotel facilities when we picked up key card by 8pm. No warm greetings at all.
The room was big with a big pool. But the hot water there made the room temp to 24 degree Celsius. We urged the hotel to lower the temp and the air con. kept on and off in a sec. They said it was normal. Second day, we could not tolerate. Asked them to fix. They opened the window and the temp kept at 24 degree Celsius level. We requested a bit late check out. They said the coming guests would check in earlier as they would stay for 1 week. Could only extend 30 mins. This conversation was impolite.
The breakfast buffet was disappointed. No varieties and not tasty.
Wondered no taxi in front of hotel. Had to call taxi every time with 1000 won on top of the fare. Not a big money but not necessary at all.

Banyan Tree Seoul was one of the best hotels I have stayed yet. With great spa inside the room. However, if your looking to explore the city, not a great location. The breakfast could be better and the bar is quite bad. The staff is also not the very best to say the least. If you want tranquility and relaxation then this is the place to stay. Don't expect too much from the staff though.

Lovely room, difficult area

It's a bit difficult to say whether this new hotel is worthwhile. Certainly the room itself is huge and super comfortable, and the in-room hot tub is spectacular and unique, definitely making this room one of the best rooms we've ever stayed in. But otherwise, it's stuck on a hillside far from anything, including transportation, up a big hill. So you clearly need to go somewhere else to have fun. Fortunately a lot of Seoul's most famous areas are close by, and then you can taxi back to your extremely quiet room.

Beautiful but challenged by location

The hotel was a bit out of the way. A taxi was needed to get to the action but the taxis were reasonably priced. However no taxi drivers had heard of the hotel.
The rooms were lovely but the view from one side of the hotel was a car park.
Drinks were expensive and their story bar was deserted.
English was not spoken well by the staff.

お部屋にはプールが付いていて眺望も抜群。しかし、歯磨き等のアメニティは付いておらず有料とのことでした。
有料で払えないことはないですが、一泊十数万のお部屋なので付いていないのが不思議です。
部屋の冷蔵庫には殆ど飲み物が入っておらずびっくりしました。コーラ、スプライト等が4本ほど。
おつまみやお菓子なども常備されておらず、お部屋で晩酌出来ませんでした。
館内最上階のBARに行きましたが、なぜかクローズしていて残念な気分になりました。
館内に漂うフレグランス、お部屋のシャンプーも気に入り翌日購入しようとショップに行きましたが、午前11時からのオープンとなっていてチェックアウト後の時間だったのでこちらも購入出来ませんでした。

굳은 날씨에 방문 하였지만 따뜻한 욕조랑 맛있는 식사가 있어 편안하게 숙박할 수 있었습니다
결혼 기념일로 방문 하였는데 꽃다발이랑 와인 선물 주셔서 감사합니다 다음에 기회가 된다면 아기랑도 방문하고 싶네요

세면대와 샤워부스에 물이 잘 빠지지도 않고, 커튼은 개별로 열고 닫을 수 도 없으며, 풀에 물을 넣고 빼는
것조차 직접 할 수 없으며, 별로 청결하지 않음.
룸서비스는 시키면 언제 올지 모를 정도로 오래 걸리며, 객실관련 문의는 물어봐도 알아보겠다는 말만하고 답변이 오지 않음.

좋은 위치와 뷰 하지만 형편없는 서비스와 객실

룸 안에 프라이빗 풀이 겨울을 녹여줍니다

룸내 프라이빗 풀이 있어 추운 겨울에 몸을 녹일 수 있었습니다. 인센스 향 등 분위기가 만족스러웠고 방도 청결했습니다. 다만 시설이 노후되어 가는 느낌은 있습니다.

룸도 너무 넓고 뷰도 좋고
서비스 좋고
엑스트라베드까지 넣어도
공간이여유롭네요.
룸서비스 음식도 참 다양하고 맛있고,
이용하지 않았지만 룸 인덕션있어서
참 좋았어요. 미니바도 무료입니다.

체크인하고 방온도가 20도여서 24도로 설정했는데 몇시간이 지나도 미동도 없음.
그래도 오르겠지 싶어 27도로 맞춰놓고 잤는데 너무 추워서 새벽에 깼음.
프론트에 연락했는데 말로만 미안하다고 말할뿐 방의 하자를 인정하지 않음.
중앙난방에서 조치해서 낮에는 따뜻해졌더니 이번엔 너무 더워서 낮출랬더니 역시 조작이 안먹혔음.
다시 항의했는데 끝까지 책임을 인정안하고 다른방도 다 조건이 같다는 변명을 함.
옆방으로 변경신청하니 그 방은 온도조절 잘 됨.
방은 깔끔했는데 상상외의 질낮은 대응으로 휴가는 망쳤음.

아주 좋았습니다. 전체적으로 만족합니다. 조식 시간 시 시간이 되었더니 한쪽에서 치우기 시작해서 조금 마음이 급해졌던 것 빼고는 전체적으로 괜찮았습니다.

근처에서 30년 가까이 살면서 처음 가봤는데 너무 좋았습니다. 특히 남산뷰는 외국에 있는 느낌처럼 이국적이었어요.

Mixed feelings

Quite a few issues with in-room dining because of their insufficient skills in English. Moreover, the housekeeping is sloppy: no evening service even if we compliantly placed the request on the door handle on both night before 5 PM.
Other than that very pleasent. Value for money so so.
