Our stay at The Shilla was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations.

The rooms were beautiful, clean, and extremely comfortable. The beds and bedding were some of the best we’ve experienced while traveling and made it easy to get great rest after long days out. The amenities throughout the hotel were excellent and clearly very well maintained.

The staff truly stood out as well. Everyone was incredibly professional, attentive, and welcoming, making the entire stay feel seamless and relaxing.

The sauna and wellness facilities were also fantastic and a highlight of the stay. Everything was spotless, relaxing, and very well organized.

Overall, The Shilla delivered an exceptional experience in every way — from the rooms and beds to the staff, amenities, and facilities. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

One of the best 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at: excellent service to help us book taxis / translate as we don’t speak Korean and top-tier amenities for saunas, pools, gyms with many racks to support my health needs! Staying on the executive floor give you access to exquisite food that you will not find in any other hotel executive lounge. You don’t even have to go to dinner at night after attending happy hour in the lounge. Everything is so elegant and the staff is so attentive. Best executive lounge ever!!!

Room was spotless and I loved everything about it. The bedding is probably THE BEST I've come across while traveling so far. All the hotel staff were so kind and helpful, it was the best service I've ever experienced at a hotel so far. The bakery on the first floor has amazing pastries, and the dinner buffet at Parkview was amazing. Every time I visit Korea, there's always so many foods I want to try but eating here really fulfills that. All the dishes were amazing. The only downside to the hotel is that it's up on a hill, and there's nothing really close by walking distance (convenience store, activities, etc), especially in the colder seasons. I look forward to visiting again!

Great staff. Clean room. I love the most of this hotel: there is no pungent scent( perfumy smell) in the lobby and other areas. I am glad that the Shilla is not doing what other five stars hotels are doing. I hope that they keep their own classic style and maintain.

By far and away the best service I have ever received at a hotel, and I have traveled extensively. We had two different people greet us before even making it near the entrance, then a single person made sure we were guided and immediately attended to. We were graciously given a free upgrade and when the staff found out that we were here for a special event for the kids, they printed a letter to them and have a box of chocolates, which my kids can't stop talking about. The breakfast buffet was spectacular and absolutely worth the price. My husband still talks about how every other hotel on our trip was a letdown. 100% we would stay at The Shilla again the next time we are in Seoul.

A truly luxurious stay, it’s perfect for special occasions or if you’re just in the mood to treat yourself.

While the hotel is situated uphill, the complimentary shuttle buses make it easy to get around, with convenient stops to duty free, public transport hubs, and even into the city (as long as you catch the right schedule).

The service is exceptional from start to finish. From the moment you check in to the time you leave, every interaction feels polished and attentive. Staff go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcomed. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a high-end, memorable experience - for us it was our honeymoon!

The Shilla is a luxurious stay and the rooms are fantastic and facilities looked great albeit I did not get a chance to use them during my stay.

The downside is the need to pay to access the outdoor pool and how there were several membership areas that meant guests did not have access to.

This property isn’t inline with western values or customer service. Yes they bow, yes they smile but anything else is based on if you paid for it.
For example, the outdoor pool isn’t included in the room.
Even when you pay $300 for a family day pass it literally doesn’t include anything except the actual entry. Not even water is included. At the pool you’re not allowed to dive, jump, make a hand stand or anything kids enjoy.

We reserved a Deluxe Business Suite for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) however the room only had one (1) bed. They asked us to pay for an extra bed. We slept 4 people in three beds.
This suppose to be a 5 star hotel but the service is more inline with a 2star service.
The food in the hotel is outrageously expensive and not worth it.
We’re used to a more elevated service but for Seoul it’s considered the absolute best.

You would think for the money you pay and the attention to luxury the hotel is known for that they would have REAL beds. Our king size bed was nothing more than a giant box spring and a 2 inch mattress pad. HARD AS A ROCK!

5 Star Service with a capital S!

We have stayed at many five-star hotels around the world, but the service at The Shilla is truly in a league of its own. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and every staff member I encountered – including the valet attendants and service car drivers – spoke English to a high standard.

If I had to identify a fault, which is difficult, it would be the use of individually plastic-wrapped cups in the rooms, which are replaced daily during servicing. This seemed excessive and not particularly environmentally friendly.

Additionally, upon check-in, I was informed that the gym and indoor pool would be closed for renovations throughout the entirety of our stay. I clarified this several times, as it seemed unusual given that we had not been notified beforehand. However, I kept seeing guests dressed in gym attire in the lifts. On the fourth day, I enquired directly at the gym and was told that it had only been closed for one day. Unfortunately, due to this misinformation, we missed the opportunity to use the gym and indoor pool, which was disappointing.

This hotel is hands-down my favorite place to stay in Seoul. Every time I visit the city, I check availability here before considering any other hotel. The rooms are clean, quiet, and somehow I always get a room with a view of Namsan Tower. Waking up to that view never gets old.

I also love starting my day with a workout in their fitness studio—it’s well-equipped and a great way to stay on track while traveling. The buffet is top-notch, with an impressive selection, although quite a bit pricey. I wish they offer a la carte and better cappuccino. Too bad my son and I aren’t big eaters, we usually skip it and opt for in-room dining when we want to relax or most of time we just go out. The room service has always been prompt and delicious.

The location is incredibly convenient—there’s a subway station right outside the hotel, cafes just across the street, and around the corner by the stadium, I recently discovered a fantastic new brunch spot (wish I’d found it sooner!). Taxis are super inexpensive so we used Uber a lot.

If I had one small suggestion, it would be to recognize returning guests more personally—like remembering room preferences and maybe buffer voucher? Since I come here every year, it would be a nice touch.

Overall, this hotel makes every Seoul trip feel easy, cozy, and comfortable. I’ll definitely keep coming back!

They provide amazing service. I left a bag in the taxi trunk on the way this hotel. The concierge tracked the taxis license plate and found the driver. And they were able to recover my bag! Definitely, they are dedicated to an excellent customer care!

Amazing Hotel Experience

This should be one of my best hotel experience in my whole life of travelling! The moment I step into the hotel, I could feel the welcoming by the staff. Super in love with this hotel, love the ambience of surrounding especially when its snowing, I choose the city view, the room is very clean and comfortable, the internal still looks very new, the services of the room service is meticulous. All the staffs are so energetic, friendly, helpful and attentive. They are very observer whenever I have questions in my expressions they will approach me immediately. Not just one staff but everyone, I m veryimpressed. I feel they have went through very a good service training or the management must be very good to the staff. Thumbs up to the management and the staff they are really amazing. The only thing is nothing much near the hotel except the Shilla duty free which is a good shopping area but close at 8pm and a mini mart down the hill. Accross the hotel there are many restaurant, just that need a bit of walking if in the day time they provide car to drive down and up the hill. There is free shuttlebus to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun not too far from the hotel. Nevertheless I will still go back to the same hotel.

So far one night into a 5-night stay, the Shilla Seoul does NOT measure up to either the Signiel Seoul/Signiel Busan or Ritz Carlton-level hotels. We should have just stayed at the Signiel. Rooms are uncomfortably small, some unacceptable in terms of non-modern conditions. The only saving graces are better breakfast selections (although uncomfortably crowded at 8:30 am) and picture-taking opportunities outside next to the hotel at the Korean-style pagoda and wedding hall vicinity. Expedia also has to do a much better job allowing folks to change reservations (particularly shortening reservations) without penalizing customers by charging exorbitantly more for same reservation minus 1-2 days. As one example, Expedia wanted to charge me $50 extra to shorten an existing reservation by one day. As another example, breakfast has fallen off the original reservation rate because I shortened one of 6 rooms booked. Expedia needs to work with the hotels to benefit the customer versus only Expedia so may need to consider booking directly as well! I am awaiting to see whether the hotel (and by extension Expedia) adds back breakfast to the current reservation…

From the moment we stepped off the taxi to check in, our experience of The Shilla Seoul was nothing short of impeccable. I've stayed at many top hotels in Seoul and Tokyo. The Shilla Seoul is up to the level of Ritz Tokyo or Okura Tokyo, which I consider the best of the best. Every member of the staff is kind and respectful, and willing to go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. Rooms are classy and clean. Some may say this hotel is old. But it aged like a legend. This is the BEST hotel in Korea IMHO.

The service was probably some of the best that I’ve ever experienced while staying at a hotel. From the moment we pulled up to the hotel and were greeted by several hotel staff to the cleaning staff attending to all of our requests, my wife and I felt like royalty. We can’t express enough how happy we are with our choice to stay at this property and that’s not even mentioning how comfortable the bed was and how delicious the food was. Had a wonderful stay at Shilla Seoul. Stayed here for a total of 3 nights. Before booking, I was debating between Shilla Seoul and another 5 star hotel nearby. I definitely made the right choice choosing Shilla Seoul.

The level of service is great from staff to facilities around the hotel. The room is spacious and very clean. This is the type of hotel that has night service where they have someone come and set up the room for your for your evening wind down. The proximity is beautiful, massive and isolated from the Main Street. No traffic noise at all. My room faces the city view, which is just as beautiful! I paid extra to play golf, reasonable price.

One of the best service they have is shuttle buses that runs every hour to main attraction such as Myeongdong, Dongdaemun etc.

Overall I had a great time at Shilla Seoul, will definitely come back again.
