The room was clean and comfortable. Staff on the ground floor and at check-in were very friendly and helpful, though staff in other areas were only average.
A few things to note:
Facilities come with quite a lot of rules. The pool requires advance booking, which felt inconvenient while on holiday — I prefer being able to use it whenever I feel like. Entry is also not allowed if you’re wearing room slippers.
Breakfast is organised into three entry sessions, which resulted in waiting times and a very busy dining area. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the breakfast experience. A wider fruit selection would have made the breakfast experience better.

The Novotel is splendid choice in the Dongdaemun area depending on what you are looking for and how much you are interested in spending.
We booked a Premier Room in the Residence wing of the complex and were very pleased. There was a full kitchenette, a separate dining area, and a spacious seating area. The bedroom itself was enormous, as was the bath which featured an oversized shower stall and one of the largest bathtubs I have ever seen in all my years of travel. The room was fantastic.
We also enjoyed swimming laps in the indoor pool on the 20th floor and soaking in the hot tub up there after swimming. The indoor pool complex is very nice.
The only area for potential improvement I might identify is breakfast, which was somewhat above average but lacked any sort of flair. If they had some type of fresh fruit smoothie station, or a made to order breakfast wrap station or something like that, it might have given breakfast a \"wow\" factor. The most disappointing part about breakfast is that we were looking forward to trying some of the loose leaf local Korean hot tea, but there wasn't any to be had. All of the tea was in tea bags, which is absolutely no fun at all.
The only other thing to be aware of is that the front of the hotel faces the emergency room entrance to a medical center, so if blaring ambulance sirens aren't your thing, you may want to think about something elsewhere. Otherwise, this is an excellent property and we would stay here again. Recommended.

Booked this hotel for my birthday and it was ruined. They “upgraded” me to the fourth floor… where my bedroom was easily seen from the ground. And there’s no view, the neighborhood is not exactly a great view.
The overhead shower massively leaked which drowned my entire bathroom.
I complained and got switched to a better room. Though the bathroom always smelled of pee.
Other amenities were ok. Cannot complain about staff, they were accommodating in a situation that (seemed) wasn’t their fault.
Can’t get over Ice being a menu item though…

Great location near train and walkable to DDP with easy pick up and drop off with uber. I would definitely stay here again. We got the delux suite with 560 sq ft space in the 1 bedroom and living area. The room had so many cabinets which are great for storage. It felt like a modern NYC apartment complete with a fridge, stove, microwave, filtered water machine and washing machine. Check in is on the 20th floor and I wish I visited the pool and gym, but there was so much to do each day that we rarely spent much time wandering the hotel.

I did not feel like it was a 5 star hotel. I would say maybe a 4 star. There’s too many restrictions for fitness gym and the swimming pool for example you have to wear a swimming cap within the swimming pool as well as be 20 years old. The breakfast is definitely not worth the money. The sewer right in front of the entrance smells really bad every time you enter or exit the hotel. The hotel should fix the fine details and rules if they want to be called 5 star hotel. Staying here with 2 teenagers was a big mistake since it is not a family oriented hotel.

I like the size of the junior suite and the round shaped bath tub is very nice. Very accessible to 3 lines of metro. The concierge is helpful. But a junior suite on the 3rd floor is ridiculous, I can hear the noise from party revellers at night, woken up by construction in the day. And the lifts are nonsense. I have never stayed in a hotel that required me to wait in the lobby for a lift for more than 5 mintues and not because it is crowded but it is slow.

This place was horrendous and definitely not worth for the amount their charge. Initially I was given a room with a massive smoke smell, which you could smell from the hall. When asked to change it, they sent someone who said: ‘I can’t smell anything’ - ??? - then moved to another room where the door closet didn’t close properly and the internal lights were kept on, disturbing my sleep. Overall is a badly designed room, where the light system in general is confusing, super noisy with the bathroom fan and a shower that it doesn’t warms up properly. Also not to mention the ridiculous rules to use the pool. It’s not welcoming, it’s not comfortable and it costs a lot. Defeats the whole purpose of a holiday.

We booked a Superior Room for 4 people (2 adults, 2 teenage children), yet to find the room only had a queen bed and a single bed. We asked how this room was meant for 4 people with these 2 beds, the staff had no answer, apology or recommendation for bringing a cot or alternative for their error. Otherwise, modern facilities, nice gym and quality breakfast. Very close to Dongdaemun Design Plaza and subway, very convenient. Lots of options for food/restaurants (which alot of metro Seoul has). This property has 2 sides, a residential side and a hotel side. The lobby to check in is on the 20th floor. This hotel is in a quieter area but only about a minute walk to the subway. Also, there are many restaurants nearby. If you like a good deal for shopping for clothes this area is the place to be. This area specializes in wholesale clothing and accessories and many sell to the public. These tend to open after 8 pm. There are many day time retail places too. This hotel is very new and the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. I upgraded to the breakfast buffet and it was worth it. There is also an indoor pool that the kids will love. I was originally going to stay in Myeongdong which is super busy. Myendong is only about 15 min away by subway. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

my family and I stayed at this hotel after a long trip abroad and it was by far the most comfortable place we stayed at on our trip. we stayed in a residence which was very spacious and gave us enough space for our luggage and the toddler on our trip had enough space to play in the room. the place had lots of counter space in the bathroom. so spacious for a place in seoul. my only gripes would be the bathroom door was glass and opened directly to the beds which made it difficult for us to sleep if anyone was in the bathroom. additionally the couch was a bit dirty but otherwise everything was very clean, we loved the filtered water dispenser, and beds were so comfortable. it was also very close to the dongdaemun train station which connects you to multiple lines and makes it fast and easy to get around the city!
