Felt unsafe and uncomfortable throughout my stay.
The room wasn’t very clean, and the shower smelled strange (possibly mold). One night, around 11pm, a male staff member suddenly opened my room door with a master key card and claimed he used to live in my unit. He explained that he got confused as he was temporarily living at the hotel— completely inappropriate and alarming, especially as a solo female traveler. A few days later, cleaning staff also tried to enter my room despite a clear “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door handle.

Repeated staff intrusions and poor cleanliness made this stay unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel; particularly to solo travelers.

The hotel was near the stairs to subway station so you don’t have to walk long in the cold especially during winter. There was a convenience store nearby. The hotel staff was helpful and the best part for me was the weighing scale by the elevators to weigh our luggage. That was really helpful for us to decide whether or not we need to add baggage allowance.

Was surprised to have to pay extra for a blanket. Most hotels would give them for free to use. Couldn’t adjust the heat and had to open window. No conditioner in the bathroom. Walls too thin, could hear people yelling out in hallway, there was a power outage, bathroom wasn’t clean

Travelodge Dongdaemun was clean, efficient, well located near major attractions in Seoul with close proximity to public transport, restaurants, and shops nearby.
The room was quite small; however, it fit our purpose for sleep, shower, and kept our belongings secure - this is not a hotel if you like to spread out!
If I had to pick one issue, it was shower water pressure and heat-up, which took fair amount of time on the 9th FL - otherwise, no complaints about this hotel and found the prices quite reasonable for an overall expensive major world city like Seoul.
While not my first choice, I would definitely consider another stay.

Request basic cleaning which includes ( emptying out garbage cans, changing towels, and making bed) beds were never made.
On my fourth day, I requested deep cleaning,
They changed towels, emptied out the garbage cans, made the bed, but never cleaned the floor.
Second night of my stay power went out due to construction on the street. Hotel landline phone never worked and there were no way of getting hold of front desk. looking down from 17th story high there were multiple firetrucks and police cars. I walked down 17 floors to lobby to find out what that happened.. They have never informed guest of the incident till next day on a piece of paper place it on the elevator entrance.
I thought that was very poor, communicating with guests of the hotel.
By the way, I stayed five nights.

The hotel was fine for a 3 star hotel. The staff on the desk were very pleasant. The problem was that the rooms are not serviced. I requested mine was cleaned after 3 days but it was never done during the 6 days I was there. Other guests just got frustrated and piled their rubbish outside their room in the corridor for over 4 days.

Place is small and they lied to me that it was king beds. After paying and getting to the room it was too small for my children to sleep in the bed and they refused to refund my money.

I spoke with the manager and he acknowledged his rep/co worker lied and still he refused to cancel. They kept my money and my children and I had to leave and find somewhere else to stay.

They ruined day one of my vacation and robbed my $500 USD

Very friendly, professional, and accomodating staff. I stayed in a single-bed room (as a solo traveler) for 5 nights. Worked for me as I was out exploring the area most of the time. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to parks and shopping malls. It's also about 15 minutes from Meongdong, which I didn't know upon booking the room. Meongdong is a fun touristy place to walk around and try street food.

The single rooms in the hotel are quite compact, so if you are planning to travel with others and/or be inside for lengthy periods, perhaps opt for a larger space. Still, I was very comfortable--bed, bathroom, shower etc. all was well-kept and clean. I also paid for breakfast each morning at a very reasonable price. They offer buffet style with many options. I am vegetarian and was able to get my fill of eggs, fruit...and coffee.

I will plan to stay here again when back in the area. Many thanks.

My stay was very good! There were a couple of malls nearby that were about a ten minute walk away. There is also a convenience store right next door. The staff was very nice during my check-in and even helped with my bags when going up to my room.

I stayed at this hotel mainly because of its convenient location — being within walking distance to Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, and Cheonggyecheon. In that regard, the location is excellent.

However, the experience overall was disappointing. The hallways had no ventilation at all, so the air was stale and the temperature was uncomfortably hot. The room itself was extremely small. While the air conditioning worked, it was too strong — it actually felt cold, and there was no way to adjust the temperature.

There was a laundry room, which was convenient, but for a hotel with over 240 rooms, having only one washer and one dryer was simply not enough. It felt like there was no real consideration for guests’ needs.

When I entered my room, I found leftover makeup stains from the previous guest and dirt at the bottom of the trash bin. It was clear that the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. On top of that, the drain near the laundry area smelled terrible, likely because it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.

I stayed here for two nights as a way to slightly cut down on costs during my month-long trip in Europe. But looking back, I wouldn’t stay here again. Even at a similar level, I’d say Toyoko Inn offers a much better experience in terms of cleanliness and guest care.

If the ventilation and cleanliness were improved, this hotel could be a good choice given its location. But as it stands, I can’t recommend it if you value space and cleanliness, this may not be the right choice

Overall I had a good stay. For the price, it was a great choice. I think they can improve on keeping the rooms a bit cleaner. My room was dusty on the desk and there was hair on my bed. There were a lot of marks on the wall which made the room look dirtier than it actually was. Also it looked like there was a lobby bar/cafe on Expedia’s pictures, but it was closed the whole time I was there. I may have considered other hotel options if I had known that. The best part by far is the rooftop terrace with great views that is open 24 hours. A great place to bring a group of friends or sit by yourself, have a drink and enjoy city and mountain views of Seoul. The staff were also friendly. In general, a good option if you’re traveling on a budget, but if you have a little extra to spend, you may want to consider other options in Dongdaemun area, especially if offer similar rooftop views.

The hotel is a decent option for a short stay, especially if you plan to explore the city. While there isn’t much to do in the immediate area, it’s conveniently located near subway stations, making it easy to reach other neighborhoods. It wasn’t what I was expecting. Overall it’s an A-ok place to stay for a single traveler. 2 people is quite tight. Room is quite small literally fits a queen bed with probably 5 inch space between the wall and the bed. Bathroom is spacious enough to shower comfortably. It’s not an ideal size but at least you get to move around comfortably.

The property is in a good location to explore Seoul. However there are a few negatives. There’s only one washing machine for the whole hotel, so we had to use the coin laundry down the road. The gym is very small. We were given a room in which the whole walls had glow in the dark stars all over them, this made it impossible to sleep. The toilet/shower in the room are in a glass cube, with zero privacy. Pretty strange

Had a last minute layover in Seoul and most of the hotels were fully booked. Travelodge Dongdaemun is a 5-10 minute walk from the heart of Dongdaemun and a 10-minute walk to Gwangjang Market. If you take transit, it’s a few bus stops or few subway stations away from Myeongdong. Airport limousine bus 6001 has a stop across the street at Baiton Hotel.

The staff here are very helpful. The queen room I was assigned to has lots of wear and tear and the glass panel adjacent to the sink wasn’t clean. The room would feel tight for 2 people. There is a Wow Pass machine in the lobby and luggage scale. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay here.

Rude, not foreign friendly staff, dirty rooms. Not for foreigners. We were greeted by a memeber in the middle of the night arrival who was particularly rude, unhelpful and couldnt even confirmed whether we were at the right hotel or not. He was yelling at us to pay foe the taxi, which we intend to, had we known we are at thw right place.
The rooms are extremely dirty and unhealthy.

I like the location of this hotel, which is very close to the area's two public markets where there are many options for street food. Very close to subway stations and a major shopping area (Dongdaemun Design Plaza)., with lots of restaurants. Room small but clean. The only down point is the room does not have good noise insulation so we can even hear people next to us coughing. Staff are good in English and quite friendly and polite.

I would highly recommend this hotel . The area of Seoul it is located is close to 3 coffee shops , a cultural park , the subway station ,shopping malls, and dinning options all with in a 5 to 15 min distance via walking .

The subway station is literally located outside the doors of the hotel .

Down stairs from the hotel is a conscience store with several basic goods and 5-10 min down the street there are several coffee shops. A Starbucks being one of them.

The staff were very helpful and patient to help me navigate the city . The laundry was easy to do and cost 3000$ Won. There are also 3 money exchange locations with in walking distance .

As a solo older travel who had mobility limitations this facility made traveling to Seoul enjoyable.
The room was adequate and well maintained providing a consistent cleanliness.
The breakfast offer was delicious and fullfilling, and the staff was helpful.
The staff at the registration desk was always helpful with directions, getting transportation, and providing solutions for unplanned issues.
This hotel is very economically worthwhile.

No space, but it is clean

Stated had ocean view, but very obscured and window wasn't clean so you couldn't see out anyway. Room was older and needed some updating. Furniture was clearly a little older. Carpet had multiple small stains, but cream color. Beds were good size and comfortable. Room was clean and a good size. Plenty of natural light, but bathroom lighting wasn't very bright. Pool was very nice and heated. It had a nice view and it was heated. I believe you had to borrow a towel. There was a small restaurant on the rooftop. There were three heated igloos you could either rent for 20,000 for an hour or it was free to use if you ordered food up to 30,000. Food was a bit above average price, no appetizers, a few cocktails and 1 vegetarian option. However, the food was good and had a good presentation. Hotel was a bit away from the downtown area and buses were confusing and slow.
Pros: Near ocean, nice rooftop area with enclosed igloo to rent/use nice pool area, clean and good size room
Cons: Older room- older appearing furniture, can see some wear and tear, some small stains on carpet, further away from city and no easy public transportation

Disappointing experience. The room was dusty, the carpet was full of stains. Not enough room to even hang the clothes as my coat was brushing against the teapot.

Breakfast was really sad. Just to give you an idea of the class of this establishment - the sugar for coffee in the breakfast area was in a glass jar from strawberry jam.

Pros: close to the center, a small grocery store and fruit stall are right there.

The property & room were very good for the price we paid. The room was a bit small, but it was ok for the 2 of us. The front staff were very friendly and extremely helpful during our stay. It is within walking distance of many restaurants & shopping malls & stores. Train line is just outside Travelodge, and the airport bus is just across the street. They have a nice rooftop area with tables that you could sit and enjoy the city scenery. I would recommend

Check-in and received the dirty room. Bed sheet not clean, there is no warm water, especially the toilet is super dirty. Call the lobby to tell that the room are dirty and they said that the house keeping is not working until tomorrow. Also they mention about “if you need your room clean, please call them ahead”. So disappointed when received the room.

We stayed five nights in this hotel in a 'superior room', which is essence, was clean and tidy but somewhat on the very small size; tiny in fact; a bathroom and a bed with not much space between. However, one needs to consider that Dongdaemun is a big tourist area. The staff were very facilitative and overall, we enjoyed out stay.

Tucked away between the busy streets of Dongdaemun and Myongdeong, this foreigner friendly hotel sits in the wholesale home building supply district and dried fish market. It’s still very quiet and the hotel rooms have the bare necessities— tv, mini fridge, shower, tea kettle and desk. Subway is 2 block walk and bus stop is 2 block walk. Cafes and restaurants near by.
