Such a great stay! They upgraded our room for free on arrival to ensure we had a room with a coffee machine and had a free water fountain and was close to everything in Myeongdong. There was some construction on the 10th floor but we heard no noise in the morning and evening when we were in our room. Bathroom and room was so modern and upgraded.

Absolutely loved staying at PJ Hotel! The location is perfect—walking distance to Myeongdong and surrounded by cute little cafes. The GU was the highlight of our stay, hands down the best part. The rooms were clean, spacious, and super comfortable. Highly recommend!

Avoid staying for 3 reasons:

1. They turn off A/C when it isn’t summer. We stayed in fall and our room was 27 degrees Celsius and I was told to open my window instead. They brought a fan which kept it down to 25 which is still way too warm for me. This alone is enough to avoid this place.

2. The hotel is old and outdated. Thin walls, I heard our neighbour sneeze. Toilet barely flushes. The sink and the tub both were nearly clogged and slowly drained.

3. Not in Myeongdong touristy area. It is about 25 minute brisk walk to the shopping myeongdong area. The area it’s located in is a sketchy commercial area that is really not pleasant to walk around.

I gave it two stars as the only pro was it was close to 4 subway lines (around 8 minute walk) which was easy to get around the city.

Low budget hotel don’t stay here unless it’s super cheap which is what this hotel is.

The hotel is nice and we really liked that they offer luggage storing. The buffet was also good. It’s also around a lot of restaurants and cafes. The only downside is that the rooms get hot and stuffy. The AC doesn’t work well, we asked the staff about it and they said it’s centralized. This caused us to sleep uncomfortably because it was hot.

1.We stayed in a basic king room, which was spacious enough for our family of three. Housekeeping was done daily, and the room was always clean. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness and service.
2.The hotel isn’t right in Myeongdong, but it’s in the Eulji-ro and Chungmuro area, which is still close to the center. Subway lines and public transport are within walking distance. Buses and taxis are also easy to find. We mostly used Uber for convenience. The nearest subway lines are Line 2 and Line 3. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to main areas.
3.There are many local restaurants nearby. We enjoyed walking around, especially in the Chungmuro area, and trying different places to eat. There are lots of affordable options with delicious and authentic food.

There is a damp smell in the halls. We reserved for a family of 5. On Hotels.com it describes the room as accommodating for up to 5. When we got there they told us that it was only a room for 4. We had to move the couch and a stool to make a tiny bed for our daughter. And they charged for an extra set of towels and bedding. Not really as expected and it was disappointing. Room looks big but it’s tiny. Breakfast was huge but nothing was warm besides the soup and waffle station.

Hotel for locals

Not the most tourist friendly hotel I think it's aimed towards locals. Staff did try to speak English but weren't too helpful. This hotel is tucked away off the main street in a more local area/alley. The hotel itself is nice, rooms are large and spacious and secure. Made good use of the lg air closet to clean my clothes which was nice. There is a shuttle bus that takes you to the myeongdong train station but the hours only run until 5.30pm which isn't that convenient.

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel PJ for 2 weeks. It is close to Myeongdong (there is also a hotel shuttle to the shopping area for guesta) and the Euljiro (을지로) train stations. Room was smaller than expected but fine. Bed wasn't the most comfortable but was large and the pillows were comfy. We didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment on the food. There were laundry facilities on our floor and a station with hot and cold water and ice for filling water bottles which was very convenient. There are two 24 hour convenience stores a short walk away. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we were happy with our stay!

Very bad experience

Firstly, the tap hot water supply is not stable, sometimes only cold water and sometimes only hot water even I selected warm water when taking bath. I report this problem but still the same on the next few days!

Secondly, the staff were not friendly at all, even so rude! Except the car park staff who was very nice and willing to help although he can’t speak in English.

Lastly, they won’t change the bedsheets until you asked to do so. I stayed there for 6 nights, they only changed once😑 They won’t change or wash the cups properly, still have stain on it, so disgusting!!!!!

Excellent and very helpful reception staff. A good breakfast, but repetative, and items not always available when service first started, and were allowed to run out, unreplenished, after 9 AM. Did not appreciate breakfast not allowing guests in after 9.20, despite breakfast time being untill 10.
Disappointed that there was no bar, apparently the Roof Top bar advertised would not be opening up untill 2024!
Our room however was good, with nice balcony with a great view. Good housekeeping.Very convienient location, close to Metro etc., restaurants and bars. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Loved housekeeping. Their attention to detail is duly noted. I never felt like my room was not clean.. I had fresh towels and sheets everyday. Now I must nitpick. Room needed to be renovated (old carpet giving off musty odor when entered room, wallpaper peeling, bathroom faucets needed to be installed properly). Would I stay here again? Yes! Great value. Very clean, and I received not a lot, but enough smiles. Overall a good property that will be great after renovations.

Good location, nice hotel room. I love there is a filtered water dispenser on every floor. Every hotel should have this.

The gym \"opens\" at 8am. This is too late. should be 6 at the latest. I use quotes because it is connected to the 24 hr. business center so you just need to go around the velvet rope barrier. Strange.

The concierge was kind of helpful in that he will look up information and relay it to you, but not much of a problem solver if you are looking for that kind of help.

Second time staying here. It was central to the major places to visit. 20-45 minutes walking to Myeong- do NF, Namdaemun, Dongdaemun, Gwangjang market Gyeongdok Palace and others, 5-7 minutes walk to subway stations to the front and the back of hotel. Places to eat all around. There was a breakfast buffet with a pretty good spread. Laundry facilities and a mini gym was available. Nice staff. They had a currency exchange kiosk in the lobby and a baggage storage area with a scale. These were really helpful.

I tend to stay at PJ hotel because it’s one of the most reasonable in terms of price and convenience. Hotel is minutes walk from/to Chungmuro and Euljiro 4-ga station, and has convenience stores and eateries nearby. It is clean, has friendly and helpful staff who can speak English. The only downside for me was that I didn’t have a universal adaptor and had to borrow from the concierge, but the adaptor did not work very well and I spent quite some time tilting the angle for it to work. Same for another adaptor which my friend brought. Besides that, we were all happy with our stay, and tried one day of hotel breakfast which didn’t disappoint. Will be back here again!

Everything was great - the location, the convenience to get to the subway, clean, pleasant staff. The only problem is that the hotel operates on central heating/AC, so the temperatures in the rooms are not adjustable. There is a thermostat, yes, but it does not actually work. We went in the first week of April and even though the outside temperature fluctuated from 15C - 25C, our room was consistently at 28C. We tried to make it cooler and even set it to the lowest temp possible (20C), but it remained at 28C for our entire 4-night stay. Not sure how bad it gets in the summer, but if you're not good with hot rooms, this might not be the place for you despite all its other great qualities.

Hotel is within walking distance from Gwangjang Market. It is around 1-2 subway stations away from the popular Myeongdong area. As such, the traffic can be very heavy during the peak period. Parking is limited. If all parking lots are taken, approach the front desk and they will direct you to park at a shopping mall/office building 5 minutes walk away. Staff are generally polite and helpful. Few speak English however.

This hotel was the best out of all the hotels we stayed while in Seoul. There is a convenience store right below the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. When I checked out, I left something behind and was surprised that the hotel still kept it for me.
Only thing I didn’t like was the shuttle bus to MyeongDong actually only runs on Friday.

Stayed in two different rooms. Both had no AC, it was pretty warm and impossible to sleep. If you ask for balcony, remember that you will face construction ( should be done in 2023), rooms with balconies are newer, however if you are tall, bathrooms are uncomfortable. The area is so so, due to many shops that sell all type of things for construction. However , if you like to walk the place is ideal for insadong and myongdong(20-30 min walk).train station is 3 blocks away, so airport bus stop. Hotel has good bakery , pizza , Indian restaurant and 7/11.

Lastly, you can leave your luggage for free in self checked storage room( up to 8 hours) , after you can pay. What I did not like was that staff made me book another night, so I could leave my luggage for 3 days.

Will I be back ? Def no, especially after 8 diffident hotels I stayed in and had compared them to PJ.

Hotel PJ is located just a few minutes walk from Euljiro 4 ga station and Chungmuro station. It is about a 10 mins walk to Euljiro 3 ga station and to Gwajang Market.

It is about a 40 mins train ride to Gimpo Airport, and about an hour to Incheon Airport.

The size of the room was sufficient and balcony was big enough too. The tub, water pressure and water temperature was good as well.

However, out aircon did not seem to get cold, and hovering about 24-26 degree celcius. The Aircon was quite dated and dirty as well. Otherwise, it would have been a great place to stay.

Plus point is that it has a bathtub, self service baggage lockers and free shuttle bus only on Friday.

Minus point for the need to call and request for toothbrush and staff attitude. I was asking for instructions on how to go to Dongdaemun before I could check in and staff did not suggest to me that there is free shuttle bus. I lost my phone in Seoul and required help but they failed to assist me and they only say I don't know.

Average hotel, and not ideal for non-Korean touris

Front desk struggled to communicate in English though they did try.
the hotel is in a commercial neighborhood that dies down evening and weekends. Much better to choose a global hotel chain a few blocks closer to main tourist areas, and that are also comparable on price. Beds were not the most comfortable, and shower height insufficient for average Westerner.

My first stay here was very nice! I got a beautiful room with a balcony and it was very big for a very nice price ( my second stay after a few days was not so nice) the staff is very kind and inside it is really a luxurious place. the cafe underneath looked very fancy and there is a convenient store in the first floor which is perfect when you are hungry and jet lagged in the middle of the night. But it was very strange at first to walk around the hotel because for a european it is a bit of a culture shock to see the abandoned buildings and the very small humble and chaotic little shops around it. It felt a bit unsafe at first and it wasnt easy to find a restaurant besides the fast food chains. But after a while one finds the nice places and gets used to the chaos around the hotel.

I was extremely disappointed when I walked into my room. I knew while checking in and being handed a dental kit was a precursor to what was to come (it’s extremely tacky to be given toothbrush at the front desk). When we entered the room, the industrial carpeting was hideous as well as the color, and I cringed every time I walked on it. It just didn’t feel clean. Then, I called for an iron and ironing board and was told to pick up a key card from the front desk to access the laundry room on my floor. Wow, I couldn’t believe they didn’t have an iron and board for guests, but the kicker was they couldn’t bring up the card. In addition, taking a shower was a pain. My husband couldn’t stand up straight (he had to bend his head) while taking a shower because the ceiling in the bathroom was so low. I’m 5’9” and only had three inches between my head and the ceiling. An hour before checking out, they cut off the AC, and air that was barely cool came out. The positives of the hotel is the self baggage storage and the mugs in the room (the colors are nice). I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.
