I had a very disappointing experience staying here.
The laundry service caused significant damage to my clothes. White items were washed together with dark colors, permanently staining them, and wool clothing was put in the dryer, causing irreversible damage and pilling. Rewashing was attempted but did not fix the damage.

What made this more frustrating is that I asked to wash my clothes myself, since the washer and dryer were located right next to my room, but I was told this was not allowed and that staff had to handle the laundry. Afterward, management refused compensation and stated they are “not a laundromat,” and that I should have provided instructions for how to wash each individual item, even though separating whites and darks and not drying wool are basic laundry practices. Ultimately about $150 worth of new clothing was destroyed. They refunded the price of operation (about 4 USD), but that was it.

Additionally, the blankets on the bed were shredded/torn when I arrived, and there were also someone else's hairs in the bed (I took photos with a timestamp from check-in). While I was not charged for this, it raised concerns about cleanliness and room condition.

Finally, the property is located in a very dark, narrow alley, which felt very unsafe at night as a female solo traveler. This was not clearly communicated in advance and affected my overall comfort.

I enjoyed my stay at this guesthouse. It is conveniently located near Jongno 5(o)ga subway station and 1 minute from 24 hour CU convenience store. My room was clean and quiet in the evening. The staff were fantastic and helpful. Breakfast is simple and a nice touch. I would stay here again next time I come to Seoul.

The hostel is clean, the staff is Very nice and even carried my bag for me. Loved the window with trees outside. The room is spacious. The house slippers and separate bathroom slippers is nice too. My only complaints- the bed is very uncomfortable and the tv only gives you 3 min previews unless you have a subscription. :/

The area is really convenient walking distance to line 1. staff are really friendly and helpful, i communicate with them for an earlier check in and they were ok to accommodate as there was a room available. also offered to help me with my baggage’s. the only thing i disliked was the property was obviously under maintained. but cleanliness was good despite the walls and not maintained. with the price i think its a perfect choice tbh just dont be too picky and you will enjoy your stay.

also would like to recommend the property to clean the Air Conditioner.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Star Hostel Suite. From arriving to leaving the staff was very kind and helpful. The location is super convenient. This is a great option for travelers on a budget that want to stay somewhere central in a true Korean neighborhood. We stayed 6 nights and were so happy to choose this accommodation. It is less than a minute away from the metro so great for getting around. The Gwangjang Market is across the street, and Jongmyo Shrine, Cheongyechong and Changdukgung are all walking distance. The best thing is the staff. There is limited staff so cleaning is not usually serviced but the reception guys are always friendly and happy to give you any information. Seungdo and Alejandro too but George especially has been a star and we were sad to say goodbye. My only ask would be to have mayonnaise at breakfast for the toast! Thank you star Hostel!

My friend and I stayed at this budget-friendly hostel in Dongdaemun, and it offered a great experience overall. The location was quite convenient—a 4-minute walk to the Airport Bus stop and even closer to a subway station, with another station about 8 minutes away. The area had plenty of great food, shopping, and pharmacies nearby, plus a market just across the property. While the entrance is located in an alley and there are a few bars nearby, it was generally quiet and felt safe.

Our room was spacious and included a personal fridge, which was a nice bonus! The room was clean, although the building showed its age, which was reflected in some of the room’s features. One thing to note is that the restroom is a wet room, so the toilet, sink, and shower aren’t separated by walls or a door.

The basement level had a communal kitchen with breakfast and filtered water, which I really appreciated. Lastly, the staff were fantastic—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They even allowed us to store our luggage while we traveled to Japan, making our experience that much more comfortable.

Location is 10/10. A few steps away from the metro station and bus stops. 3 minutes to the airport bus stop.
Staff is very friendly! always happy to help.
Complimentary breakfast is very convenient. Bread, hard boiled eggs, cheese slices, cereal and delicious coffee.
The only thing is that the overall condition of the building is not so great. Rooms look old. Furniture is also very worn out.

When I arrived after a long day travelling, I had to book another hotel right away as this place was not as advertised and shown on hotels.com when I booked. No reception, procedure to check in as described in their email was not followed and caused a lot of confusion. Messy, unorganized, not clean, rundown, not safe or secure, I will definitely avoid

There are two Star Hostel nearby. One is real hostel with shared bathroom and toilet, another one is suite that comes with individual toilet and bathroom.

Location is good which is just few mins walk from metro. Just be careful that if you are a female, you should walk together with a friend because there are few karaoke lounges out there. Also, it is located near Gwangjang Market, if you go to shopping area at dongdamen, you still need to walk by 15 mins.

Room is basic, little bit dated but still clean and tidy. I believe no tidy up service but not sure if it is by request. Extra towel and tissue paper are provided on a shelf in common area, you may get extra in need.

Simple continental breakfast is provided everyday. Good enough if you are not demanding.

Staff are nice and helpful, and provided suggestions for attraction in Seoul. It is very good for first time Traveller to Seoul. Seem they can also book local tour for a guest.

Overall it is good for budget Traveller who needs a room.

this place is for young travellers to stay a few days. I am an older person for long stay for that reason I made wrong choice.
Mr. Ham is one of the staff who assisted me to make my stay in Seoul possible.
Also encountered extremely rude staff who had no respect for older people.

The room itself was quite nice given the price range. Amenities were also quite good. The owner was cold and irratible, particularly if you couldn't speak korean. Also, the hostel itself is in a somewhat shady part of town. I would personally reccomend finding a place somewhere in Hong-dae.

The positives - friendly and helpful reception lady. They give a free mobile wifi device for a refundable deposit which was very very useful. Good facilities such as kitchen to cook, towels, breakfast etc.

The only negative is the location which is bit further away from night life. Otherwise very nice place to stay.

This is my second time to stay here. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hostel is tidy and clean. Wifi is pretty good. Very near the metro station and airport limousine stop. Within 10 minutes walking distance to Dongdaemun shopping area. It is a great and wonderful place to stay if you don't mind the karaokes along the alley (but it is safe). I will definitely stay here again.

Location very close to station, room was rather small , Bed was ok shower was a joke!
Breakfast consisted of yougurt pots and some biscuits and they would just leave some eggs and you have to make your own omelette/boiled eggs,.. ! Staff were average they need to learn to use the word: \"Please\" which doesn't seem to exist in Korean language!!!

Great strategic location for tourists

The room has almost everything that you would need for an overnight stay, except for a mini-fridge. However, there is a large fridge in the basement that the guests are welcome to use. You put your things in a bag, write your room number on a card, and then tape the card to your bag.

For a limited time in the morning, they offer a make-it-yourself breakfast: toast (you toast the bread yourself), coffee, yogurt, corn flakes, milk, and bananas.

In the room in which there is breakfast, there are two laptop computers with Internet access. (There's also wi-fi in your rooms; they give you the code.)

You'll easily be able to find restaurants, but that's true of everywhere in Seoul. The real advantage, if you're a tourist, is being very near the Jongno-5-ga subway station. This is because from the Chongno-5-g subway station, you can go almost anywhere fairly easily: Jonggak, Yongsan, Daehangno (Hyehwa), Hongdae, Myeongdong, Itaewon, and Gangnam.

Here's how you get there from Chongno-5-ga subway station: Go out Exit 3, take the very first right, and walk for a few minutes (through a red-light district). Don't worry about walking through a red-light district, though. Seoul is a very safe city, even in those kinds of areas.

If you have some kind of walking disability, you might have trouble getting up the stairs to the higher floors because they have no elevator.

駅から近くて、接客態度も良かったです。建物の構造上仕方ないが、シャワ—の水圧が弱く、訪れた冬場は5分ぐらい出しておかないとお湯になりませんでした。
オンドルが効いているので、
暖房面も問題なかったです。
タオルはフロントで新しいのがもらえました。
シャンプー、ボディソープ、ドライヤーはありますが
アメニティグッズは持参になります。
コンセントのプラグも貸してもらえるようでしたえ

Super venligt personale. Hjalp med at bære kufferter både op og ned. Altid smilende. Værelset småt, men rent og pænt. 2i1 shampoo balsam dog. Gulvvarme i januar. Ikke så meget tryk på bruseren. Rigtig god placering og super tæt på lufthavnsbussen. Tæt på linje 1 (2 min Max på gåben) og i gåafstand (10 min) til de andre linjer. Man kan gå derfra til bl.a. Insadong på under en halv time. Marked lige på den anden side og døgnåben CU 10m længere nede af gaden. Star hostel ligger på en stille gade parallelt med den store vej. Taxaerne kan være liiidt, men så evt sæt din destination til CU og gå 1 minut derfra. Kan klart anbefale. Morgenmaden var også god 👍

ロケーションがとてもいいです。鐘路5街3番出口から出て、次の角を曲がればすぐです。ホステル・ゲストハウスに宿泊し慣れている人には、とても心地よい宿泊先です。昨年に続いて2度めの宿泊でした。昨年はツインで1階の部屋でした。かなり冷えましたが、ストーブを貸してくれました。今年は2階で、あたたかかったです。夜10時にならないと暖房が入らないので、寒ければストーブを貸してくれるとのアナウンスがありました。なくてもなんとか過ごせました。水圧がかなり弱くて、そこだけが残念です。2階の部屋だったからかもしれません。あとは、芳香剤の香りがきつくて、バスルームに移動させました。韓国のどこに行っても、芳香剤が置いてあることが増えているので、気になる方は置く場所を工夫するといいです。朝のコーヒーはミックスコーヒーもあるけれど、コーヒーメーカーで美味しいコーヒー飲めます！これはすごい！クウンタルガルもあるので、ありがたいです。今回は、宿泊日数を減らすことになり、ホステルにはメッセージで、エクスペディアには電話で連絡をしました。何度も連絡することにはなりましたが、ほんとに丁寧で親切な対応をしてもらえました。感謝しかありません。日本の方がたくさん宿泊されていました。安心してススメできるホステルです！また宿泊させていただきたいと思っています。ありがとうございました！

細い暗い道にありますが、駅から近く、東大門やカンジャン市場まで歩いて行ける便利な場所です。ホテルの人たちも皆親切でした！ベッドちょっと固かったり、部屋が少し暗かったりしますが、値段を考えると十分頑張ってると思います。高級ホテルではありませんが、こんな滞在も良いと思います。

駅からもめちゃめちゃ近く広蔵市場のすぐ近くなのでかなり便利でした。
フロントスタッフも私がチェックインした時は日本語が出来る若い方でした。タオルはフロントや廊下に置いてあるので毎日自分たちで交換できます。
ただベッドに髪の毛が落ちていたので気になりました。

チェックインの時スタッフの方が上まで荷物を運んでくださり、本当に助かりました。
とても親切で、夜まで入口にスタッフの方が居るのが安心出来ました。
ですが、全体的に清潔感がありませんでした。
・ベッドのシーツはシミが沢山
・掛け布団もシミ
・シャワーも下水の匂い？が部屋まで匂いました
・タオルも黒い汚れや穴があいていました
・滞在期間ハエを何回も倒しました

スタッフの方が親切だっただけに、少し残念でした。
周辺に関しては別の方が仰っているように、少し危ない？イメージでしたがコンビニも近くにあるので私は気になりませんでした。
それよりもゴミが沢山捨てられており、そこに虫が集まっていてその中を通るのが気になりました。

駅近、カンジャン市場も東大門も近くロケーションはとても良いです。ホテル前の路地は怪しい雰囲気で夜遅く歩くのは避けようかなとは思いました。近くのCUは品揃え豊富。

フロントのお兄さんが親切でそれが良かった。節約旅行ではリピするかも。

駅から近くとても便利。
安いので清潔とか広さとかこだわりなければとてもお勧めのホテルです。
階段なので登るのが無理な方はしんどいかも。

地下鉄駅、広蔵市場や東大門に近く便利です。　金浦空港からは地下鉄乗り換え一度です(5号線、1号線)。エレベーターはありませんが大きな鞄の運搬はスタッフが手伝ってくれます。　全てのスタッフは大変親切でした。

マーケットにも近く、チムチルバンにも歩いて行くことができた。立地がよかった。
無料の朝食も軽く済ませたい朝にはありがたかった。
トイレとシャワーの位置がどう考えても逆？という配置になっていて、シャワー浴びた後にトイレに行くと、足が濡れてしまう。

前回の滞在で満足だったので２回目の利用で２泊しました。一泊目は何の問題もなかったが2泊目の夜中にレイトチェックインの客の
足跡、話し声が響きとてもうるさかった
恐らく建物の防音設備が不十分だろう。

その点を省くととても良い施設

駅近の綺麗な部屋

2泊しました。客室へは階段のみで階段の幅が狭く、大きいスーツケースを運ぶには大変でした。
ただ、お部屋も綺麗で朝食サービスもあるのでまた利用したいと思ってます。

地下鉄1号線の鐘路5街駅3番出口から徒歩数分の距離です。6002空港バスの停留所も近くにあります。地下のカフェテリアで朝食を食べることができます。パン・チーズ・卵・牛乳・ジュース・シリアル・コーヒー、ジャム・ピーナッツバター・チョコレートシロップ、いろいろそろっていて、ありがたいです。電子レンジが使える、スタッフにお願いすれば電熱調理器具も使えます。とにかくカフェテリアのキッチン設備がとてもありがたかったです。ベッドの寝心地もよくて、シャワーの水圧・温度も十分です。何か困ったら、スタッフに話してみると何かと親切に対応してくれます。また宿泊したいと思いました。

駅から近くとても便利です！トンデムンにも歩いていけます。
ホテルは清潔で自分の家のような感覚でした。簡易的な朝食もあります。部屋も十分な広さです。受付の方もとても親切です。翻訳を使って説明してくれたり、日本語が話せる方もいます。路地にホテルがあるので夜は少し怖いです。床暖房もあり暖かいです。エレベーターがないので荷物の移動が大変ですが、たまたま受付の方と会った時は、手伝ってくれました。とても親切です。初めは1泊の予定が3泊しました。また泊まりたいです。

駅からも近く、並びにコンビニもあって、便利でした。清潔感があり、部屋の温度も快適でした。4階の部屋まで階段で荷物が重く移動が大変でした。シャワーの温度調整が難しく、熱すぎたり冷たかったりしてました。寝心地は良く、リラックスできました。ありがとうございました。
