Good sized clean modern room and comfy bed. Plenty of free car parking on street outside. Room reasonably priced too.

Only downside for me was no air con or fans in room which didn’t help when I stayed on one of the hottest nights of the year but don’t let this put you off. Good value for the money paid especially last minute :) would still use again.

Very Uncomfortable Bed

Check in was great, friendly staff. However the bed was one of the most uncomfortable mattress’ I’ve ever slept on. Well by it’s date, basically a bag of springs. My back is still hurting.

Place was immaculately clean and free parking was a bonus. No chef was available so no onsite eating but shops were local enough.

We booked this hotel as it was near the places we wanted to go and see, it was a very quiet and friendly hotel. The staff were amazing and the room was clean and spacious. The bed was so comfy I could have fallen asleep for days 😴

Stay clear it’s like a deserted block of flats in an awful area I didn’t stay I left !
Parking is on a council estate block of run down flats definitely not secure I refused to leave my vehicle here as it didn’t feel safe
Arrived hotel in deserted in darkness all locked up at 1.30pm had to wait for reception to open at 5.30pm ! No chance I left and went to grange manor !!!!!

Emma on the front desk is lovely and very welcoming. My room was spotless and the decor was modern as per the website. Due to COVID the hotel is not doing breakfasts but are providing pack lunches. I have dietary requirements so it was really good when Scott the chef came out to meet me and discuss what I could have. My pack lunches thereafter were the envy of my training colleagues who were staying at other hotels. The only negative about this hotel is the outside of it which needs to be updated but once through the front door a warm welcome awaits.

Very easy to find from airport and access to various sites. The rooms clean though basic, lacking mirror in bedroom, chair or small sofa to relax, noticed no hairdryer. Breakfast excellent and staff very helpful. If you stayed one night has everything you need but longer it would be nice to have the extra touches but overall very good.

Poor supposed \"Budget\" hotel. Uncomfortable beds, poor pillows. Institution sound to the corridors, single glazed... GREEN lighting over the beds. Just odd.

Breakfast selection again a bit weird... 1001 uses for a wine glass but, I must admit, the hot foot was great.

However, I will never stop again

Not what I was expecting

This is a step above a hostel. One towel per guest, packet toiletries, no phone in the room, no lift, reception not manned continually, no view, away from shops and sites unless you have a car. It is a fairly clean hotel with a friendly staff, and the food in the limited tiny bar/restaurant is home cooked and delicious.

Great place for us as a base, very clean and tidy. Friendly polite staff, excellent breakfast. Was a bit disappointed with the fact we paid for a superior room with a king size bed, this was more like a double bed, room but small but still very nice and clean.

Perfect spot for visiting Kelpies

My husband & I were only here for one night intending to visit Kelpies before flying off on holiday fro Edinburgh airport. Arrived about 4.30 pm Friday. Excellent check in, taken to our room on 1st floor. Spacious room with excellent amenities. Went into bar for evening meal about 8 pm. Excellent meal, very friendly, helpful staff. Very comfy bed. Breakfast was really superb, fruit,yogurts, juice, scones, teas, coffee, etc all laid out on large table to help yourself. Excellent choice of cooked breakfast ordered & brought to your table. Staff again were excellent. Simple check out. Seems an awful lot of \"excellents\" in this review, but it really is the only word to describe it. Would thoroughly recommend. About 7 mins car ride to Helix Park & Kelpies, & 30 mins drive to airport.

Good 6 night business trip.

This is a nice \"middle of the road\" hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was varied, plentiful and cooked to order. The bar/restaurant was well stocked and the food was freshly cooked with a great taste and good portions. My mattress wasn't the greatest and the maintenance could be better but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I have also stayed at the Hilton Hydro in Dunblane this weekend and I found this modest hotel far superior to the overpriced Hilton. Breakfast was cooked to order and well presented. I especially liked the fact that the beans were in a dish. I don't like my beans all over. Just a personal thing. I Would have preferred square sausage on it to make it a bit more of a \"Scottish\" breakfast. Again just a personal thing. Plenty of other breakfast options, again all well presented. Bed was comfy and room was warm and clean. Staff were very friendly.

Comfy overnight on a roadtrip

Our stay was good enough yet it is a very small town and nothing is opened nearby after 7ish :( you can take a nice walk (25-30mins) to the Helix Keplies but have your lights with. Hotel was nice, simple and small room but comfortable. Breakfast was top level - loved it!

Friendly accommodating staff. Lovely breakfast. Dinner was good we had the haddock . Rooms were spotless,
Downside - The pillows were so soft which affected our night’s sleep. Cold water from tap was hot, informed the young lady about it at dinner when we returned to the bedroom it was sorted , I was impressed however in the morning it was hot again maybe a plumbing problem we had a bottle of water so we could brush our teeth. If the pillows were changed I would certainly
stay again . Cosy and welcoming.

Chic, boutique decor with excellent staff

Firstly, don't judge The Helix Hotel by its lack of kerb appeal; its interior decor and professional staff belie the frontage and location. And yes, the parking's on-street rather than a dedicated lot, but a space was never more than 50m away.
Reception staff too were attentive, well-presented and a real cut-above what you'd expect in a small town establishment.
The en-suite room was smart, modern, nicely-decorated, and all that you need and expect (telly, kettle, tea/coffee, storage space, free wifi, ample sockets, basic toiletries, towels, etc.). The bonus for tall folk is a shower head high enough that we can stand under it, rather than limbo/contort/kneel.
Breakfast is a continental buffet, plus cooked-to-order. All excellent.
A great wee place, and I'll have no hesitation in booking again when I'm next in the area.

Fine hotel, with parking on the street

We booked 2 rooms for 2 people each, for 2 nights. The breakfast was great, and the staff welcoming upon registration. The rooms themselves are rather minimal. It's fine overall, but there was a cleaning product smell in the corridors. The area is fairly industrial, close to a refinery (so there is a bit of a smell outside as well). But beyond that, the price was reasonable ans the hotel is fairly easy to access, and close to several major cities.

small hotel. doesn't look nice from outside with all surrounding flats outside does nothing for it.
easy check in. staff take you to your room..hope your not looking for a lift as theres not one .
hotel is spotless.u could smell the fresh paint .
meals are lovely try the curry yum..
friendly staff .but they do look a bit scruffy they should wear uniforms [instead of there own clothes esp barman] its very of putting unironed clothes..
turn right out of hotel about 100 yards there a shopping complex [not a lot of shops] but theres couple of pubs the Dundas and earl ofzetland around corner [wetherspoons]

when I first arrived I wondered what I had done as the area is not the most glamorous. The hotel itself was ok and it can be seen that a great deal of effort is being put in. My room was ok just and had all required items. A little disappointed that there was a clump of hair on the sink on my arrival.
The host was extremely hospitable and the food was excellent.
The wifi was terrible but I understand this is to be upgraded

Brilliant to a person in need

I booked this room for my brother who's wife was in hospital in Stirling and didn't stay myself, however he said the hotel is lovely and the owner was very helpful as I only booked for 2 adults - and there turned out to be 2 adults and a child - giving a lot of help and was very sympathetic to the problems my brothers family were going through.

Probably the friendliest staff in the world!

What can I say. Nawaz and his staff are absolutely first class. They put the big hotel chains to shame with their warm, friendly attention to your wellbeing and comfort. Always greeted by name and with a genuine friendly smile on arrival, giving you a really warm welcome. It is just like coming home!

As this is a privately owned hotel, there is a very real team spirit amongst the staff, all wanting you to enjoy your stay and to engage in friendly conversation with you. In the evenings Nawaz was happy to sit for ages with us and have an intelligent conversation about anything we wanted to talk about, from politics to world hunger, from technology to psychology. A really, really lovely guy to have as your host.

Since my last visit before Christmas, the hotel has a new bar area and they are doing bar food in the evenings. Wow! What beautiful food. The kitchen staff really do excel in what they produce.This is NOT your average pre-packed frozen hotel/pub food. This is superb food, all freshly prepared on the premises and cooked to order, with ingredients sourced locally. We tried the chicken burger, inside out burger, macaroni cheese and steak pies when there. All were absolutely superb. Way better than the food we experienced on a recent cruise with P&O! The portions are large, so we didn't even get a chance to sample the starters or desserts as the main courses always had us full to the brim.

Absolutely delicious with top quality ingredients cooked to order.

What a lovely surprise! Such a good hotel. Stayed for a buisness trip and was surprised by a clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed (including pillows) the bathroom was spacious and the shower great.
The tea facilities were generous.
The breakfast was the best spread I have seen in years, beautifully presented and freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful. Can't give this lovely hotel enough praise, will definately stay there again! Thank you
