Excursion experiences booked through the hotel lobby We chartered a private boat to avoid large crowds to visit four islands and we were very disappointed. Lots of confusion on pick up drop off etc. Boat was filthy and low the quality expected for a private charter the larger shorter boats were much nicer.Overall experience at the hotel was good staff is friendly.

We had 2 adjacent rooms, family room with plunge pool. The room were clean and nice. Only issue was the inconsistencies of the water pressure in the room shower, some morning barely any water was coning out when the room next door was also using the shower and the water was having difficulty to drain.

But except for that we enjoy our time there. The rooms with 1 king bed and 2 single bed was perfect for our family so every one had their own bed. We also like the included breakfast near the beach.
It was low season so the price was very good but I thing at full high season price I will have find it to expensive.

Super disappointing stay

Super disappointed in our stay here. We booked the private plunge pool villa with a king sized bed as a splurge and were very disappointed.

When we checked in, the room was not ready until 30 minutes after check in time. The room had clearly not been cleaned, there was dirt on surfaces, sticky stuff on counters, and poop smeared on the toilet. We didn’t get the king size bed we booked, and instead got two twins. The most disappointing part was the plunge pool, it was 1/4 of the size in the photos, and very dirty. Full of bugs and grime.

The sun beds by the beach are lovely, sadly there are not nearly enough. People seem to go early in the morning and save them with towels then leave. Very annoying.

We loved our quiet stay in Koh Lanta! We booked for a week and then ended up extending our stay several times, staying for more than a month in total.

We loved the fact that the property had four pools (in addition to two kids pools), an air conditioned gym, beach access, and ridiculously nice staff. We opted for a deluxe room that had a bedroom and then a lounge area with a desk, twin bed, tv and balcony. It was perfect for a longer stay, and while the swim in rooms would be amazing for some families, we loved being a little elevated and felt we had our own outdoor space and a little more privacy.

We came during low season and many beach restaurants weren’t open, but the ozone bar next door on the beach along with the massage and laundry place next door were both great! We rented bicycles from Mr. Chai just past the Irish pub for around $40 for the month which gave us mobility to explore a little more. We loved The Backyard and Where Else which are both walking distance from the hotel. And yoga at Non La Mer hostel!

Would love to return one day!

The hotel is on long beach which has had its day, it’s deserted, lots of bars and restaurants that have been abandoned for ages. The hotel is nowhere near anything, the beach Is full of rubbish and the sea is not calm enough to relax in it.
The restaurant is is crazy expensive, breakfast is 250 baht per person, what might be a cheap room rate will get clawed back in the extortionate rates for food and drink.
My room was cleaned once and it was half done, the problem was they pub chemicals in the plunge pool that were overwhelming, I had to get out as I felt like I was being gased.
I wouldn’t come back to koh lanta, phi phi is much nicer, if I did this hotel seems to tick everything off, but factor is food and drink costs and the remoteness it’s not worth it

Disappointing upon arrival as the pictures that advertise the hotel as well as the welcome video on the television were probably taken back in 2003 when the resort was first opened and had different facilities back then. Check in kindly organised us a room upgrade to a smaller, but modern room unfortunately this room had loads of ants and smelly drains, to some people this may not be surprising, but after nearly 3 weeks in Thailand we hadn't experienced. The room upgrade also came with a signifcanr expense but in return gave us a free breakfast. Unfortunately I also had to wait nearly 2 hours for a porter service to assist with moving rooms.

The location is great right on the beach but I have definitely stayed in much better hotels in Thailand for this price! The restaurant food and cocktails really are nothing special and housekeeping is quite shoddy. There is one great staff member named Jordan who will always do his best to help you out!

The room was amazing, I had a deluxe pool access room which was so convenient as I just had to open my balcony door for the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Pha at the restaurant, she made me Nescafé coffee everyday without asking as I didn’t like the filter coffee they served.

The only complaint was the room had nothing to dry your clothes and pool towels on.

Staff is wonderful, location perfect, beach is lovely. Family resort, calm, no music blasting etc. nice crowd of visitors. Good Resturants right nearby on the beach (especially one just to the right of the resort, SUZA Hut, with Thai, Indian, Italian menu, owner is from Malaysia and seems to work 24/7, food is quite good) . Breakfast is okay & right by the sea, staff very attentive and nice, Plenty of parking at hotel if you have a rental car, and it’s 5-7 min taxi to the center of town (for like 2-3$). We like Ko Lanta in general because it’s calm and there are many families. The resort is very friendly, and the poolside rooms are nice. We stayed 8 days, and also explored other beaches by car and went Scuba Diving. But we’re also happy to just be lazy and eat at nearby places and lounge around reading.

The only saving grace is their beachfront location and their friendly and helpful staff . But other than that, the hotel's age is showing - jaded and musty smelling with tons of mosquitoes especially on the ground floor.
We chose a pool access room - big mistake as it was dark and dinghy, and had little ventilation, resulting in a musty smelling room full of mosquitoes buzzing in the ears in the bathroom and bedroom. They were kind enough to upgrade my children to a family suite room ( which we were only informed on the day we were told to \" downgrade' to the room originally paid for)and that was much better- more bright and airy and spacious. However, what was not appreciated was that in the middle of our stay for the week, we were told to move on Christmas day as it was an upgrade to another room as the room had been booked, ie a downgrade from the upgrade and this was told to us on Christmas morning that we had to move by 2 pm so it was a real hassle and anti-climax especially when we had plans for the day but instead we had to waste our time packing up to relocate to the downgraded room. I think that could have been more tactfully handled.

We loved our time at the Lanta Sand resort. We upgraded to one if the newer rooms close to the ocean. It was beautiful. Very clean and modern. The room we initially checked into (prior to upgrading) was very large and clean although a little out dated. The hotel staff were very friendly and the property was gorgeous. The hammocks but the beach were a great spot to watch the sunset.
We really enjoyed this resort.

Disappointing stay. The hotel is under renovation so the main pool, fitness facility and main spa are closed.There was nothing on the hotel web site or Expedia mentioning the renovations.
Our room A015 had an awful sewage smell in the bathroom the hotel put some sort of powder to mask the smell but it just made it smell worse. After staying here I read other reviews about bad smells.
The beach is great and the loungers are Ok.
We had one issue at the bar, the happy hour prices were on cards at the tables they stated 80baht for a drink when I got my bill I was charged 99 baht
When I asked server and bar manager they said they had changed the prices but had not changed the menus at tables . 19 baht is not a big deal but it is the attitude that we can charge you different from what was posted that bugged me.
Check in was good. Housekeeping was just OK.
My wife asked for a different pillow but one never came.
Overall I would stay somewhere else.

Okay value for $42/night. The beach and 'hammocks'/loungers are excellent, Cocktail bar has good offers etc. However, the 'western food' is very poor (Pizza appeared cooked from Frozen) and breakfast isn't great, less than average. The staff are friendly and helpful, but cleaning was poor. Evident by finding (and handing into reception) a bracelet left by previous stayer. If the room was cleaned to a basic standard, this would have been easily identified..... inexcusable really. Also, there was no 'mini bar' pricelist in the room and I was charged x 3 what I have typically paid in other Thailand Hotels, all a higher standard. Minerals at 60tbh and crisps (30g) at 80tbh. I would imagine its one of the better in Koh Lanta but its could be improved with a little TLC. Swimming pool was fine. At circa $21pppn it was okay.

Wonderful accommodation right on the beach. Only ate at the restaurant on the first night because every night was a bbq and an Elvis impersonator. Plenty of options when walking along the beach. Staff were very friendly and accommodating ( nothing was too much trouble). If you didn’t have transport you could get a ride into town for 100 baht. Pools were lovely and well kept as were the surrounds. Breakfast staff were fantastic and very friendly (as was all staff). Would not hesitate to recommend Lanta Sands Resort and Spa. A wonderful hassle free and relaxing experience

A few quirks, but overall a comfy stay on Lanta

Serene property with numerous outdoor water features, foliage and inviting beach frontage. Some rooms have a pool taking up the entire area of the balcony, something I'd never seen before, which makes for quite the novelty if you like the idea of your own private swimming space.

The room was spacious and tidy, with powerful air conditioning and no shortage of complimentary bottled water. However, some of the pillows were lumpy and we needed to take the Golidlocks approach in figuring out which was just right.

Additionally, the shower only offered flow from out of half of the available holes, and no amount of twisting the shower head could remedy this. Maximum temperature was also on the \"warm\" side, much to the dismay of my fellow, hot-shower-loving traveller.

Breakfast was particularly good when French toast and bacon were up for grabs, and is served in a lovely open-air restaurant overlooking the resort's private beach. It would be nice however if they offered real fruit juices, or at least something more resembling a fruit than those fluorescent cordials that are probably 165% syrup.

Wifi is of reasonable speed, but with a consistent connection.

Overall, it is a pleasant place to relax and take it easy, with a few opportunities for improvement to make it really impressive.

Lanta Sand was a phenomenal hotel at a great price. It was not crazy expensive and was amazing. The 2 pools were gorgeous and the chairs were padded which was the best. Located right in the beach, there beach chairs were really cool. They had large ones that overhung onto the beach. Everything about this hotel was gorgeous and the staff was super friendly. They went above and beyond, helping us carry food back to our room and helped my friend send money to previous hotel we’d stayed at because she left her coat behind and wanted them to ship it to us. Great bang for your buck, you won’t be disappointed with this pick!

This is a nice option near to the busy parts of long beach but a little further to the side that you get the quietness of the beach. The rooms are a little dated but nice enough for a 3-4* hotel. The service at the front desk was good but not 24 hours and we had a problem with the safe for a couple of days. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is fine but the shower was too cold for our liking. The swimming pools were fine but always too busy. It was a little annoying that there were no towels or drinks near the swim in pool. In addition, the sunbeds were taken too quickly as people from outside (who were not hotel guests) were also able to use these. The hotel seemed to cater for families and some large tour groups. The other area that I believe they should improve is to substantially reduce the price in their restaurants. The area is so competitive that most people were eating outside with the hotels restaurants empty.

We were in a family room and the private pool water did not seem very clean or changed very frequently.

The hotel location is great, near restaurants, bars, massage places etc. Would recommend.

Unsure if I would stay here again, the beach was amazing though.

Had a very good stay at Lanta Sand Resort & Spa. It's a nice hotel right by the beach with many facilities such as pool, spa and restaurant/bar by the beach. The hotel staff was very friendly and greeted us with a smile every time we passed by the desk to ask questions or book activities and services. We were also able to rent a nice scooter with the desk for low daily rate and private van to and from the airport. We had a family plunge room although we were just 2 people but it was our cheapest at the hotel at the time. Our room was neatly cleaned everyday. Although our bathroom sink didn't drain properly the cleaning staff did remove the plugged for us without us having to request it being fixed which I found thoughtful of them. I would have given a higher rating of it were' t for their bathroom. It had pebble like floor and no division for the shower hence made it feel like you were showering in a public shower. Overall we had a very good stay.

Chose this hotel specifically for the pool access feature. Through the door to the pool, there's also a balcony with day bed suitable for 2 people to relax after swimming. Had a pleasure to meet with the manager Laan who is very courteous and friendly to ensure we enjoy our stay; great asset to the hotel property and guests. Most staffs are friendly too. Breakfast was adequate with many variety of foods, and they tried to change their local dishes every morning, which is great. The hotel location is on a more quiet area, it seems that a few local establishments/restaurants also closed down around the area. Not much shopping or massage choices in close proximity if that's what you are looking for. You can still get a tuk tuk to travel to the more busier area (for about 70 baht). We are fine with the quiet area, and still able to find a few restaurant for dinner at night. If you need to print boarding pass, you can contact the front desk. You can email your boarding pass to them, and they will print it for you without cost. I'm glad they provided this service. Overall, we really enjoy the stay at this hotel.

Hotel in update mode

This was probably the best value on the Koh Lanta long beach. We stayed there for two extra nights but couldn't get
the chalet we had for the first three nights.The apartment room in the main building was nice but further from the beach.
You could tell this was a high qualty hotel at one time and is now under an update to bring it back to its original
condition. The staff were great and a very friendly manager. The only complaint was the price of wine and beer which is higher in Thailand than I expected.

Great value.

The villas are huge and the indoor/outdoor bathroom is fabulous. Comfy, clean and well equiped. Very proffessional staff. The beachfront is clean and there are 3 nice pools. Lovely garden setting. Not a lot nearby but there are a few restaurants and a mini mart. Great value price for low season. Highly recommend.

Overrated hotel

We booked this hotel because of the reviews and pictures. But don't be fooled, I would not describe this hotel as a resort and spa. We stayed in the villas; which had cockroaches, inconsistent supply of hot water, and was falling apart, literally, as tiles were off the walls in some places. The sliding door to the back portion didn't close all the way so we were contantly battling mosquitos everyday. In addition, we were there during the Euros and the tv never worked despite the hotel telling us they had all the channels. The pool was also run down, with the swordfish sculpture missing its tail. The other pool had smelly mushrooms laying out to dry from another guest. The morning breakfast was OK. But I wouldn't eat there every night for dinner. I recommend taking the ten minite walk from the resort to the right and eating at Krstana.

Nice hotel, brave beach

We stayed in may, hotel is good. Quite far of everything but that's what we wanted. Rooms are huge but a bit old, we recommend the pool access room, the exit is literally on the pool! The beach is beautiful but dangerous, be careful specially with kids. Prices are a bit higher than Panghan.

Good for Thailand

Very nice hotel and friendly staff.
The territory is well kept thus it is very green and and comfortable. Pools are good for swimming.
Breakfast is good. Beach is fine and easy accessible for swimming nevermind the tide level.
The restaurant is not the best side of the resort, but we had lunch and dinner outside at the Thai Cat restaurant situated nearby on the beach. So it was not a problem until low season came and Thai Cat closed (May-October).
I didn't like the air conditioning system efficiency in my room but the engineering team said it is Thailand and it can't be cooler. So I left it running 24 hours a day to have more or less comfortable temperature in the room.
Overall stay was very pleasant, so I have a wish to come back.

Brilliant hotel,wonderful staff.

Stayed for 3 nights in February 2016,wish we stayed longer.Had a pool access room which was great,very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely,fresh omelette cooked to order by the hugely friendly chef,all staff at breakfast area couldn't do enough for you,all seemed to really enjoy their job and always greeted you with a huge smile. Can't praise this hotel enough and will definitely be back again.

Serene and Tranquil stay

Amazing stay with serene tranquility and white sandy beaches. Would prefer this hotel and location against Krabi hotels. Very nearby to various restaurants to try different cuisines. Highly recommend to try this hotel.

Great choice for Long Beach

I stayed at Lanta Sand Resort and Spa for just one night, but it was fabulous. The room was huge, overlooking the pool area. The property is large, clean, and very nice. Great beach access. I wish I'd stayed longer.

Long beach is awesome

Overall Long beach is great place. Safe, pretty clean and quiet. Lanta Sand is good too. Caught this hotel on sale. We stayed on top (3rd) floor at 55 sq. meters room. Actually these are two rooms. Bedroom was OK and comfortable, next room believe to be a living room but there were only two chairs, TV set and kettle. It would be better to add a sofa. Balcony was pretty big.
Some rooms can hear noise from the pool and motobike parking.
Staff was great. Recommend.

Nice hotel, fantastic beach.

Nice hotel right on the beach. Good swimming pools. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms need a little brightening up but generally clean and spacious. Great for families.

Great location, right on the beach but also not too far from the pier or other places to visit. Rooms were nice with big outdoor bathrooms. Nice to also have a pool and beachfront bar.

Recommended hotel on a good beach.

Lovely place right off long beach with good restaurants and bars available at a stones throw. Staff were helpful and resort was clean and tidy. Only negative was that we had a leaky sink in our wet room making the floor wet throughout our stay, we mentioned this to reception twice but nothing got fixed. Small thing in the grand scheme however!

Would definitely recommend as a good base!

Lovely resort

Very pleasant resort. Lovely pool and beach. Restaurant is more expensive than other places on the beach so we ate away from the resort apart from breakfast which was excellent - lots to choose from. Would stay here again - we tried to extend our stay but were unable to which was a shame!

Lovely resort on a beautiful beach at a great pric

This is a great mid level resort at a very reasonable price. The beach is clean and beautiful with aqua green water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely and it has three very nice clean pools. We will definitely come back and stay here again.

Large Clean Rooms - Good Value - Great Clean Pools

In total we stayed >10 days.
This resort has passed it's 4 star peak and needs a little tlc, though still clean, well serviced and good value.
Positives: Large clean rooms and pools. Direct beach access. Good internet, though sometimes a bit slow at night. Breakfast overlooking the beach with a good selection to keep you going all day. The resort overall is kept in good condition.
Negatives: No significant issues - it's starting to show a little age (to be expected). It's a 5-10 minute walk from the main road and shops. Good exercise.
Tips: Most (if not all) Asian hotels struggle with bathroom odours and water issues in the walls i.e. mouldy smells, particularly at night time. Avoid this by checking carefully when you check-in and ask to change rooms if you're worried. Also, ask for a top floor room - no noise or water issues coming from above - much quieter. Significantly reduce bathroom smells by placing a plastic bag containing a little water, tied off, over any drain holes e.g. shower. A/c also helps to reduce these odours. The bungalows are smaller and dearer than the hotel rooms.

Perfect place to stay on Ko Lanta!

The hotel is well placed, towards the northern end of Long Beach. This is a good area to base yourself on Lanta, it's an easy motorbike ride away if you want to go north to the markets or south to other beaches like Klong Nin. Pools were great and some of the rooms have balconies you could swim from. Staff were amazing - helpful and friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. I've stayed a few places in Lanta over the years but this was by far my favourite. I'll definitely be back.

You can find much better in Koh Lanta

It was low season. No people at all. Horrible dirty beach, isolated from everyone. Some reconstruction of the territory. Safe was not working- we asked- no one didn't come for two days and in general no one didn't come for the safe issue. AC on 2 nd day was liquicking half of the night. Not very clean pool. The good things: breakfast and girl on reception (which arranging transfers, motorbikes)

Needs a bit of work on the details of the infrastructure, but the pools were very clean and the location was ideal, couple of mins walk to the beach, but set back from the main road a couple hundred meters.
