We had a wonderful week at Layana leading up to our marriage at the end of our stay.

Shout out to Gae who I communicated with on a regular basis prior to our trip and during. She was more than pleasant and helped organize the perfect wedding. Nothing was a problem or too much of an ask. Frank, the manager, was our master of ceremonies. He was dressed in an all white captain suit and delivered a beautiful script.
There was a little hiccup the day prior to our wedding regarding preparation but Gae and my makeup artist Way, saved the day with amazing help and service.

The resort is quiet and serene. The food was delicious and the pool and beach amazing. They have special dinners daily as well as à la carte and once a week they have a white evening, cocktails on beach. One of the activities we went on was a day trip picnic on a longboat to a small island. Saw beautiful scenery, ate great food, swam in warm clear water and had an opportunity to stop and feed monkeys. We had done an 4 island tour from Krabi but wished that would have waited and did the Layana cruise instead. They pick you up on beach in front of hotel and have a lovely boat! Worth the extra cost as our tour was crowded and not that enjoyable!

I could go on and on but in the end it was a memorable experience that will be remembered.

Absolutely everything about this resort is perfect. The staff can not do enough for you. They know what you need before you do. The rooms are beautiful, the beds comfortable, the ac is excellent. Great location to try other restaurants if you want. Beach is great for walking along or swimming in the ocean.

There are two pools, with plenty of loungers. The staff does a good job of monitoring reserved chairs ( not allowed). Gym is excellent.

The airport transfers is very helpful. All the staff were friendly and attentive. The resort and room were lovely. The pool had plenty of loungers and wasn’t too busy, plus the beachfront is right there with perfect views of the sunset. The only flaw on our stay was the breakfast buffet was quite basic, compared to other hotel stays around my Thailand trip.

We had an amazing time - overall excellent experience. We came to Layana Resort to relax and relax we did. The hotel staff was really friendly and attentious, the grounds were beautiful, the vibe was quiet and relaxed.

The spa was a real treat and we enjoyed the time we spent there getting massages and mani/pedicures.

The restaurant was great (especially the Thai dishes and special menus) and we had all our meals there for most of our stay. Eating by the sea never gets old :)

Sunsets were beautiful, and while the sea was not safe for swimming for half of our time there (very strong tides), the pool by the beach more than made up for it.

Our stay at Layana was the highlight of our trip to Thailand. This was a family holiday for us with our adult daughters and it did not disappoint. The staff are incredible with lots of lovely little touches during our stay to make you feel special and well taken care of. We did the snorkel trip which took me well out of my comfort zone as I am not great on water but the team took such great care of us. If you are not sure about the trip don't hesitate... the Island picnic is outstanding and the snorkelling is next level with so much variety. We felt sad to leave this little spot of paradise.

This is beautiful resort with great service. My only complaint I thought I would have ocean view. And due to weather and rain the sea was too rough to swim. Wonderful spacious room with incredible bathroom! The staff was wonderful.
I found room service and restaurant prices higher than the norm plus they add 10% service charge.

The resort facilities and ground are immaculate. Everything spotless and beautiful. The pools are amazing and peaceful. No partying or noise. The beach is beautiful, the hotel does a great job keeping it clean in front of it. Unfortunately if you go for a beach walk, lots of garbage that is not cleaned up by surrounding resorts or businesses. Breakfast is varied and delicious, specially fresh mangoes and tropical fruits. Lots of options for all tastes. They offer diverse activities, some free, some with extra charge, but everything very well organized and every detail taken care of. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they provide good quality drinking water everywhere in the hotel.for free. Spacious and well equipped gym. But the best part of our stay was the staff. From the hotel manager, Franck, to all the restaurant staff (Kung, Tim, Khong, Sirinah) and the lady who.made our room spotless every day, and the gentlemen who served us water at the beach and pool every 30 minutes (or less), everyone smiling and so incredibly nice and friendly. Would definitely return and recommend for peaceful and relaxing beach stay in Thailand.

Pros: The Layana is a stunning resort set within paradise. The staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for you, even down to laying the towels on the sunbeds for you. The rooms are comfortable and good sized. The grounds are beautiful, both pools are fantastic and the breakfast is ample and tasty. Everything you would expect from a 5-star resort. The free transfer to/from Krabi airport also an added bonus.

Cons: When planning flights note the free transfer only runs at certain times. Our inbound flight landed after the free transfer so we had to pay roughly £40 per person. Our outbound flight meant that to get there in time we had to go much earlier and spent 3 hours waiting in the airport before we could even check in. It's not a huge problem but worth taking this into account when planning.

As with any 5-star resort you expect paid services to be more expensive however we found at Layana they were on the much higher end of this. e.g. the cheapest excursion was roughly £50 per person through the layana, the same excursion from a tour operator just outside the resort was £20. On friday they offered 40% discount on the spa treatments, but even after this they were still 200% more expensive then outside of the resort. Food was also incredibly expensive compared to local restaurants just outside. I would def stay there again, but not eat/drink there opting for the variety of cheaper and tasty local restaurants just a short walk away.

We stayed 3 nights at Pimalai and booked 3 nights here but checked out a day early due to weather and boredom.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with this resort; the beach is nice, the breakfast is extensive, the villa is quite nice, the staff are reasonably friendly (the pool staff in particular were great).

However, if you’re going to Koh Lanta, Pimalai was a step up in just about every way so it’s hard to advise staying at Layana unless you prefer the more lively location.

Layana Resorts is one of the best adults only resort we have been to. One will feel that attention to detail the minute you arrive at the property. Frank is the GM of Layana. He is one of the kindest and respectful. The hotel staff were the same. Everyone took great care of us. Frankly speaking we did not feel like getting out of this resort given this one has all the bells and whistles. We enjoyed the morning brunch and evening dinners. We took advantage of discounted spa for guests. All in all the property is on the beach. Well equipped gym. A great restaurant and couple of pools. Cannot wait to get back to Layana again.

Best hotel on the island

Excellent property and service. We arrived on a stormy day, the sea was really rough. Ko Lanta was the final stop in our 30 day journey through Thailand. Our hopes were high and we were not disappointed even in the rainy season. Franck the manager took care of all our needs including suggesting a private boat ride to the Ko Lanta National Park and it was the highlight of our trip. Room service, the restaurant and the food were excellent. We rented an Ocean Villa. It was spacious and luxurious. This property is the best on the island.

My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights. This is a beautiful property with staff who were always friendly and helpful. The beach was clean and swimmable, and the swimming pools were just the right temperature. Breakfast each morning was a delight. We’re vegetarians and loved the fresh mango, assorted breads and cheeses, sliced vegetables, fresh juices and cappuccinos. We took a snorkeling trip with the hotel and highly recommend it. They take you to the best spots, and our boat was limited to 10 guests. It’s a little pricier than doing it with an other company, but definitely a better value in the end for what you get. We hope to return to Layana some day.

There is quite a bit of construction going on outside of the hotel, but that's not the fault of the hotel.

Not a huge amount to see on the main road but it's a 10 minute tuk-tuk ride into Salanda & cost 100 baht for 2 people each way.

The hotel itself is great, the staff so attentive & friendly. Very clean and everything you would want for a relaxing holiday.

Incredible resort property in Ko Lanta! From all the amenities offered to the welcoming staff onsite, this place truly felt like a five star place. I thought the daily buffet was excellent, along with the pools. The gym facility was also great with lots of machines and free weights. The room itself was spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. I’d definitely return to Layana, especially in the off season ($200 usd nightly). We also used the bikes they had available which were in decent condition.

Beautiful and elegant resort with everything so much in detail. Quite, cozy for relaxed vacation. After a rough speed boat ride from Phuket island we arrived at Layana resort & spa with very warm welcoming, great hospitality! The resort contacted us via email several times to schedule a pick up at pier. It was so on time even after our boat schedule changes. The lobby, the villa, the pool, the beach everything looks so beautiful , relax and tasty. They even have umbrellas, beach tote, and beach flip flops stored in the closet. Good Wi-Fi connection. Breakfast buffet offers good varieties. In particular we love the restaurant and price is so reasonable food is very tasty! The candle light dinner so romantic. The only thing is if the resort can upgrade the toilette? Overall we enjoyed very much during our stay. We will be be back next year!

Adored our experience at this resort. Stayed at the Terrace suite and loved how clean, modern, spacious, and thoughtfully designed it was. Loved the fresh fruit bowls each day and looked forward to the treats left at turndown service. Food was fantastic and honestly have been highlight of our Thailand trip, of which we spent 2.5 weeks going everywhere. Hung out by the pool, wandered the pristine and quiet beach, and even did two excursions with Layana. We even went to the spa twice! Overall, we actually found the spa, food, and excursion prices weren't horrifically marked up and honestly well worth the costs. Lastly, I must remark on how fantastic the staff was. Each person who interacted with us was warm, friendly, helpful...yet never intrusive and never once gave off the impression that they were waiting around for a tip. We had arranged airport transfer with Layana and even once at Krabi airport we we're walked by Layana staff to check in counter then security line! Like what! Loved the experience so, so much. Now we are sitting around in this \"zoo\" of an airport, bracing ourselves to our eventual descent back to real life. Thank you for the great stay Layana!!

All staff are exceptional. If you want to be treated like a King or Queen and totally get away and relax this is the place to stay.
Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

Immaculate grounds, in a prime location right on the beach. But the top asset here is the staff and there friendly approachable manner along with their professionalism. Breakfast is excellent and the pool or beach side service is very attentive.

Great hotel for a peaceful relaxing getaway

We paid just over GBP100 a night to stay at the Layana which was great value for money, we had ground floor garden view room which was spacious and clean with a separate bathroom with individual bath and shower well stocked with amenities. We stayed for 3 nights during July so the hotel was fairly quiet - the weather was dry ad sunny so not sure why! The staff were all attentive and after our first meal remembered what we liked to drink and where we like to sit, nice touches. We ordered in some Tiger Prawns for our second night which weren't cheap but were unbelievably good and not much smaller than your average lobster. All in all a great all hotel. Recommend the hotels airport mini van transfer, like a private jet with reclining seats, cold towels and it's own TV & DVD player to help pass the time.

Nice resort, great service

Beautiful resort with great rooms, awesome beach and nice pool. Service was great.
Breakfast could be better. They should do something about the flys issue in breakfast and food area

Nice place

Nice place to spend quiet few days. Biggest disadvantage is the flys that font give rest especially in breakfast over the food...
Nevertheless a beautiful resort, nice rooms and great beach and servive

Absolutely wonderful!

We spent 9 nights at the hotel and it truly is an incredible hotel, wonderful friendly staff, beautiful grounds, the rooms are lovely, comfortable and well equipped, the food is great. Don't hesitate booking, you will not regret it!

Amazing resort, even better staff

We were unlucky with the weather and had a lot of rain. The resort is really nice and the staff made our stay unforgettable. We even got a rain day voucher for 1000 bat to use on any activity. We did the cooking class and it was great. Can't say enough about how great the staff made this stay

Amazing resort!

Absolutely amazing, I don't feel like I need to add more.

Attentive staff, great attention to details, we felt very spoilt.
Food was great, didn't feel the need to leave the resort during our stay but we still took two trips which were also great. Recommending visiting some of the islands (through the hotel's services).

To sum up, we are waiting for our next visit!!

Lovely hotel with great facilities next to beach

We really enjoyed our stay at the Layana, a beautiful, child-free resort in a wonderful location on Long Beach, Ko Lanta. Excellent service from the staff in stunning surroundings and right next to the beach. Pool area very attractive and view for sunset at sundowners magnificent. Highly recommended.

Paradise!

This hotel was absolutely stunning. Frankly, I am not used to the level of care we received. It is clear to me now why Layana is ranked the #1 hotel on the island. Absolutely gorgeous grounds, insanely good food, and top-notch attention to detail. Perfection!!

5 star service, rooms a little tired

Cannot fault the overall service received by the staff at Layana. They were in general great, even down to remembering our room number at breakfast, likes/dislikes etc.

The public areas of the hotel generally look great as though they have been refreshed however our room (room 19) was tired and did not look or feel as nice as public areas. The bathroom looked dirty due to the mildew on tiles, water not draining effectively etc.

There did seem to be an awful lot of flies and insects around, especially in the restaurant during breakfast which was a little annoying. We stayed at The Sarojin in Khao Lak straight after completing our stay at Layana and they didn't seem to suffer the same problem. Whether the has anything to do with Layana's breakfast being buffet (food laid out to choose from) and Sarojin's being a la cartel I do not know.

As mentioned at the beginning of the post, the service received was brilliant, no qualms there whatsoever. The rest of the hotel felt 5 star but the rooms unfortunately felt more 3 star.

Down to the fact there are only two 5 star hotels in Ko Lanta that I am aware of, I would still recommend Layana, just feel the rooms need a little spruce up.
