Will stay again for sure.

Lauren was an absolute legend.
Knowing she may not have been onsite when we got there she called me in the. To let me know. Left the key for me and came to see us afterwards.
The room was great. Clean, updated and comfortable. The bed and pillows are the best I have had the pleasure of sleeping in.
Lots of hot water, although the water pressure is a little.on the low side but none the less great stay all around. Will certainly stay there again if passing through.

Superbly clean and managed by a very nice lady. Location is great for day trips to Watkins Glen. Letchworth is also only about 60 miles away. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall, this place was great. I especially liked that our room had a refrigerator, microwave AND a stovetop! My one gripe is the curtains. They need to have double curtain rods so that the sheer curtains can hang close to the window, and the opaque ones can hang in front of them on the side of the room. This is how most hotels/motels help maintain guests’ privacy. This place had one rod with the sheer curtains in the center and the opaque ones on the sides, so it was hard to bring the opaque ones together at night. My partner would have preferred a larger table in the room, but that’s small potatoes to me. The place was clean, and the manager was kind. My partner and I both agree that we would stay here again.

Hidden Gem

Like everyone else said, don’t judge this place by the outside appearance. The rooms are renovated, so it’s a great deal for the price. I had everything that I needed. Lauren is awesome, very friendly and helpful! She deserves a bonus and/or a raise!!

I look forward to staying here again!

Don't let the outside or location fool you. The motel rooms have been nicely updated. Beds are comfortable, kitchenette is nice. No restaurants or other amenities nearby, but only a short drive to Corning.

Good things in small packages.

When I enter a budget motel I expect it to be dank, dusky, dingy, dim, and dark. This place was bright, clean and inviting. It has been newly renovated, and has a few extras like a shaving/beauty mirror, a hairdryer, a desk perfect for laptops, a swivel TV with two remotes, a countertop burner, fridge, micro, dishes and cutlery. It is only an 8 minute drive from Market Street and the Glass Musuem. You won't do better for the money.

The lights had a flicker issue and the amenities listed daily cleaning which they didn't actually offer. We enjoyed the stay though and will stay again.

Despite its rather unpreposessing exterior appearance, this motel - a very short drive from charming downtown Corning - is fine: clean, secure, with everything a weary traveler needs (except places to eat - but there are many about 7 minutes away in Corning). Nice clean comfortable room, TV, free WiFi, mini kitchen - bring your own coffee. If it just had a full length mirror it would be perfect.

The motel was small and unassuming but Lauren was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious nicely updated and very clean. The price was affordable. About the only negative was that the pillows were not very comfortable but overall I highly suggest this property when staying in Corning NY

The Gatehouse is a \"Mom and Pop\" type motel located a few miles down the road from Corning, NY. I arrived a few hour's before the 3 PM check-in time but the owner/manager had no problem providing a clean, quiet room. It's an older property with about a half hour ride back into town for a meal or a visit to the glass museum.

From the outside you’d think you made a wrong choice but the inside of these rooms are way better. Fully remodeled, nice little kitchen with everything you need, bathroom was spacious, bed was super comfy. Was also nice to be able to control our own temp with the ac. Front desk woman named Lauren I think, she was super nice and accommodating. The only complaint I have was some dust around the bathroom sink, and when I dropped something I noticed a bunch of dust under the bed as well. Also we found old moldy bread in one of the cupboards, must of been missed by the cleaners, not a big deal since we only stayed one night, but I could see others having an issue with that. Overall it was a nice stay and I would definitely stay again if we are ever back in the area!!

Lovely room, nicely decorated and updated, clean and comfortable. The exterior of the building is nothing like the inside. Tv had utube and Netflix, great lighting, the bed was new but not to our liking. Windows had no blinds and semi sheer curtains (would have preferred to have full black out or full privacy option. Walls were incredibly thin and we heard everything. Overall lovely room and great stay, could have been excellent with the addition of another window dressing and an included white noise machine. Friendly and helpful owner, very accommodating.

Overall clean place but both of our beds had hair (bedsheets didn't smell unclean though). Owner/management changed the sheets and pillow covers when we requested. Door was a bit tricky to unloock from outside but good instruction for check-in past midnight. Bed was very comfortable. Toilet chain kept falling off every time and we had to put the chain back in. Room was not as renovated as pictures showed online but okay for the season & price.

Our toliet was leaking and there was water on the bathroom floor. The shower had mold inside and the whole bathroom looked like it needed to be updated. I was coming back from a marathon but did not want to shower there. Cobwebs on the ceiling over the sink and flying bugs. Hotel staff was very friendly though and helpful and pleasant. It was an OK place but wouldn't want to spend anytime in the room. TV remotes couldn't figure out how to use them and there was no directions. No phone in the hotel to call anyone.

Lovely, very clean rooms -- I stayed here for the Wineglass Marathon weekend and especially appreciated that the owners allowed me to come back after the race and shower. Very friendly service. Wi-Fi was a little weak but that's to be expected given the area. Would highly recommend especially for marathon weekend.

Two things made for an awful stay: 1) no one at the front desk for check-in or check-out and 2) the worst mildew I’ve ever smelled, in this country or the tropics, times 5. When I arrived I had to call a number and wait ten minutes to check in. [Hint: if you are the only person running an entire motel by yourself, the only way you can dogsit is if you bring the dog to work with you.] This is a shabby old motel with the old-style doors straight to the outside. The room was mixed: hot water and AC worked, linens were fresh and plentiful, bed wasn’t bad, there was one small dead roach in a corner under the sink. The mildew and the front desk are dealbreakers, particularly for anything over $50/night.

Worst Motel experience! At arriving could not get the reserved room, office closed with a paper in the window to call a phone number, several calls, no answer. Only another guest there than helped me to find the office person. After checking in, WiFi needed a password, could not find anyone to provide it.
At check out, office closed, left the room key hanging at the office door. Not a place to stay again!-

The owners/staff were nice. Property was not maintained to any acceptable public standard. Knew from the second that we pulled in the driveway that we had made a mistake booking for multiple nights. Left a night early and paid for a second hotel just so we wouldn't have to stay the extra night. Our first step was to drive into town to get air fresheners and disinfectant wipes. We had brought a sleeping bag, so we put that on top of the bed and slept on, but not in, the bed. Internet was intermittent. Spider webs in the bathroom. We used our own towels, and used the towels supplied with the room to cover the stained chairs before we sat on them. Was difficult to get into the room, had to use a shoulder to get the door open. I hate giving bad reviews to mom and pop type places, but seriously though, you can't expect to run a business like this without putting some money and effort into it. I feel I have to let other travellers know that these accomodations are just not acceptable to most people.

The Gatehouse Inn is an older motel. The decor and fixtures are in need of a refresh however the room was clean and smelled nice.

The owner was responsive and made every effort to ensure we were comfortable.

The water pressure was very low in the shower which was annoying but we were able to make due.

I would stay there again for the type of learning vacation that I was on. It was very cost effective and close to Corning Museum.

Decent stay for the money

For the price we paid, this was a very nice stay. The room was clean and furnishings were relatively new. The one bed seemed to not have springs in one corner. Overall comfort was just okay, but again, for the price paid it was acceptable. The room was large and included a microwave and refrigerator. There was some noise from neighbors but nothing too terrible.

Difficult welcome, with the manager away from the property. Used soap and wrapper on the floor of the shower made us feel creepy about the entire place. We unplugged the room deodorizer because of the overpowering smell, only to discover that it was masking an old tobacco smell, probably trapped in the carpet. This place needs an overhaul.

I wasn’t expecting much based on the pics of this roadside motel but I hoped to be surprised, I was not! The room was musty smelling, not clean. Hasn’t been updated ever. Reserved it bc it was close to Tag’s and we were attending a concert. This was a big mistake. If your going to Tag’s and need a room and everything is booked but there’s a room or two left here and you think you’re getting a deal please save your money and sleep in your car!

This property shouldn't be on a public website for supposed decent accommodations. The whole place should be leased out to a local government for public housing. Disgusting. Mold, mildew, exposed plumbing, little/no yard upkeep, TV that didn't work. Even at $69.00 it was completely unacceptable. I left after 20 minutes.
