The place is being remodeled so there is stuff laying around outside but not a big problem. The driveway needs repaving because of the potholes. The staff was nice and helpful. The room was clean, but the tub is very slippery and needs some grippies on the bottom. All things considered I would stay there again.

The rooms were definitely \"well worn\" and could use some basic attention. Two safety concerns were identified in the room, including a smoke detector that had been taken off the wall and a non-functional security chain at the door. On the up side, hotel guests received a discount at the adjacent Dairy Queen!

Under renovation. Nice new mattress. Renovated room but the work is a bit sloppy. Old armchair, etc. Good water pressure in shower. Helpful staff. Great price for the area. NO BREAKFAST. Lots of shopping close by. But it's Econo Lodge, so don't expect wonderful.

Wonderful front desk manager when I checked in, very friendly and welcoming. She was also super accommodating the next evening when I had asked for a blow dryer.

The room was very clean. I enjoyed the stay and it was an excellent price point.

The Econo Lodge in Elmira was undergoing a lot of renovations before and during our stay, which changed some of my reviews from Excellent to Good only because of the clutter and distractions necessary for the renovations to proceed. Our actual room was perfectly clean and tidy since it was recently renovated/remodeled itself. Staff was extremely friendly and very prompt with needed assistance (like when the hot water was inadvertently turned off for an extended period during a room remodeling elsewhere on our floor). If I had any complaint about the property at all, it is the lack of any sort of breakfast provided for guests. Just a coffee maker (decaf was not working - only regular) and juice dispenser were provided in what used to serve as a breakfast area. Sometimes when heading out at 6AM, it's handy to be able to pick up a bagel or pastry on the way out! We stayed at this property for 4 nights to attend our daughter's graduation from Cornell University about 40 miles north. I'd actually recommend it for families in similar circumstances each May that don't want to pay the $1000+ per night rates in Ithaca around graduation time (that are mostly fully booked a year in advance anyway). The 45-minute drive from Elmira to Ithaca is absolutely lovely so was no obstacle to our having a wonderful experience soaking in all that Ithaca, the Cornell campus and the graduation ceremonies had to offer:) Overall, I would rate the property an 8 out of 10 - excellent for the price paid!

The hotel is getting a lot of work in the hallways so it was pretty messy. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Bath nozzle was very loose and falling off the wall. Shower was very hot the first day but not hot the second day.

They were currently under construction to upgrade so hallway walls and rugs were being replaced but the room was completed, clean and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and helpful and it was a great price. It was easy to find and convenient to the Horseheads fairgrounds. The driveway needs some repaving but they were filling in the potholes, irs been a harsh winter for pavement. In all, I would stay there again.

It was fine. Room was a little cold and not much blankets so we turned up the heater. Front staff friendly. The biggest issue was the bathtub was really slippery. I had to be careful while showering and plant my feet firmly on the sides. When I told my family, they didn’t shower bc they didn’t want to risk injury.

Third and last time I will be staying at this location. The hallways always reek of some sort of perfume I assume is used when cleaning the carpets or something. Way too overpowering. We went through 4 key cards because the locks were so touchy and not working well so the keys timed out and stopped working often. The remote for the TV was dead, there were no tissues within the room, and there was a weird smell in the AC to which we went and got lysol so it would smell better. Will not be staying again.

Price was great but that's about it. You can do better.
Microwave, refrigerator and tv cords all ran behind the same cabinet. There are only two outlets and only the microwave was plugged in. I had to go to the desk and get an extension cord, move the cabinet myself and rearrange the cords.
The floors were not clean and the flooring is separating. The door lock worked separately, and the hot and cold water for the sink is plumbed backwards. Lamps were not plugged in. However the bed was comfortable.

The best part about this location is the staff and ownership! Flying in late to Elmira forces travelers to get a hotel when the car rental desk closes early. This means struggling to go anywhere! After trying Uber, Lyft, and a local transportation company we were stuck at the airport. One call from the front desk and a van picked up my family of five and luggage in time to still get dinner at the Applebee’s next door! Life saver.

We stayed at this hotel for a marathon in Corning. The room was clean but very small with little amenities (no hairdryer or toiletries). Though there was a fridge and microwave. Luckily it had bare floors because the carpet throughout the hotel smelled incredibly bad. Like pull your shirt over your nose bad. I can’t even begin to guess the amount of carpet cleaner they used but it was at a toxic level. When I inquired about it, the woman at the front desk played dumb and said she had no idea what I was talking about. This is absolutely a no-frills hotel and located literally 10 yards from a Dairy Queen drive through. It is conveniently located near major highways and plenty of shopping and restaurants.

I have stayed at several Econo Lodges and this one had to be one of the worst. I thought I had booked with the one in Painted Post unfortunately I screwed up my booking. The Econo Lodge in Painted Post I would rate a 4 star, the one in Big Flats (Elmira) I would rate a 1 (only because there was a bed to sleep in). The rack for my clothes fell off the wall when I went to hang up my clothes, there were roaches crawling in the bathroom, the Wi-Fi was very spotty (connection was horrible and I ended up using a hotspot as I had to work), the coffee in the lobby had to have been in the machine for at least 2 - 3 days (it was AWFUL), the housekeeping was very limited (I carried my own trash out and took my towels to the office to receive refreshed ones as I was there for 5 days), the guests around me were loud and obnoxious. This motel could really use an update. If I were to suggest to future visitors stay in Painted Post if you are staying at an Econo Lodge in this area. I tried to change my stay once I realized my error and Expedia told me it would be 24 - 48 hours for approval. I would be gone by then so therefore I had no choice. Never will I make that mistake again!
