This was a magical place to stay at, besides the easy check in and the super friendly staff, there were 2 furry greeters named Roxy and Moly that we had a chance to meet and of which made are stay even better. Our room was comfortable, private and a little slice of paradise. I wish we could have stayed all week.

The lodge is in a beautiful forested area with lots of birds, quaint cabins and friendly staff. My main suggestion is that there are small improvements to customer service that could be made to really improve the experience. For example, I arrived at night and had to walk with my bags on the mud and stone street in the pouring rain without any light to find my cabin. Unfortunately I broke the wheels on my suitcase. It would have been good to have someone help me to go to the room (such as drive the 2 mins using a car or golf cart). Similarly, I took a taxi back to the hotel to eat at the restaurant one night but it was closed and I had to taxi back to town (no communication that it would be closed that day or any day). Would still recommend the lodge, had a lovely experience but think there could be some improvements made.

Large, clean room. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker and coffee and all the dishes needed to eat in. Several choices for breakfast and they were good. Restaurant on site that was busy for dinner. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds with lots of birds and a great volcano view. Quick drives to town, coffee and chocolate tours, waterfall, hot springs and grocery stores. Great place for a couple of nights or longer.

Very close to the tour meet up location through Red Lava Tours. Drivable to dinner spots but quiet enough to see so much wildlife around the property! Our tours were early so we couldn’t try breakfast that started at 7 or 7:30. Room was clean and perfect for what we needed. LOVED sitting out on the balcony while we were there

Nice place overall. Room was clean, nice view from our little balcony. However, we had 2 breakfast included with our booking per day but the staff there didn’t know so we missed it on our first morning. Also, nobody explain to us the way to get hot water from the shower when we got there, so we got cold water everyday! We were explain how to get it at the next place we’ve stayed. Seems that it pretty much the same ‘technique’ everywhere in the country. I would still recommend if you don’t have to get interactions with the staff. Not very present anyway.

The cabana was dated and could use a refresh. It had a great porch view on arenal. Decent for the price. The staff was not as helpful as other places we stayed. It was out of town and took a 5 minte drive to get to town so close but far enough away to give you privacy. We drove into to Red Frog for our morning coffee which I recommend.

Staff was friendly, room was very clean. Hotel centrally located, close to Fortuna Waterfall. However, the restaurant is not opened “during the weekday” so this service isn’t offered, making it inconvenient if you were looking to enjoy an evening settled in your hotel. Also, some days of the week breakfast is not offered at the restaurant so they will bring it to your room. No personal toiletries…..shampoo is the same as body wash they said, no conditioner. Towels are very numbered. Very little outdoor lighting at night. Most posted hotel pictures of restaurant or lighted cabin porches is not what you get.

Quiet and peaceful though.

A Hidden Gem in La Fortuna – Truly Unforgettable!

I recently stayed at Brisas and can't say enough good things about this place! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and right at home. The view of nature on the property
was unbelievable! I stayed in the newest building C7, and it was absolutely beautiful– the highlight being the new front and rear patio with a nice hammock where I spent peaceful moments soaking in the surrounding nature and view of the Volcano. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening while listening to the sounds of the jungle.
The owner is one of the warmest and most genuine people I’ve ever met while traveling. He personally greeted us, shared local tips, and made sure we had everything we needed – he truly treats you like family.
The front desk staff were equally fantastic – always helpful,kind and attentive. Whether we needed tour recommendations or had questions about the area, they were ready with a smile and great advice.
And let’s talk about the breakfast – it was delicious, freshly prepared, and served in a lovely open-air area where you can watch colorful birds nearby while you eat. A perfect way to start each day in paradise.
If you're visiting La Fortuna, Brisas is your best option. It combines comfort, hospitality, and the beauty of Costa Rica in the best possible way. I immediately extended my stay by 3 days as soon as I saw my room!

Enjoyed our stay here! Lots to do near this hotel. The little cafe next to the pool has great lattes and cappuccinos. The breakfast was okay. We enjoyed our dinner at one of the offered restaurants near the gravel area with the fire pits.

This was my favorite place we stayed while in Costa Rica. Quaint cottage on beautiful grounds. Very quiet and peaceful, woke up to bird call. A short hiking trail on the premises. $10 to buy breakfast which we did not pay for but there was a nice breakfast area so I’m sure it would have been nice. There was a small coffee maker and fridge in the room so we made our own coffee and enjoyed it sitting outside on the porch. Highly recommend!

Our family loved our stay at Brisas Arenal Hotel. It is convenient to town, yet set far enough away to provide a peaceful getaway. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful with the walking trail on the property being a great addition. Our room was clean and large. We ate twice at the Soda Tita Rosa down the street for dinner and really enjoyed the family that ran it and the closeness to Brisas. We were incredibly happy with our choice to stay at Brisas and highly recommend it.

I’d avoid with families

It was a funny stay at brisas. There’s no denying that the setting is amazing. You really do feel immersed in nature and it’s very peaceful. I found the staff pretty hostile and not very welcoming, especially the receptionist.
It feels a bit more like a self catering lodge than a hotel. The room was dated, like it hasn’t been touched since the 70s but it was still clean and comfortable. With the air con it was either cold or very cold, difficult to get a happy medium.
We had a blocked drain in the toilet one afternoon, through no fault of our own. And when we told the receptionist he just said ok I’ll send someone to sort it. No one came to sort it until the cleaners came the next day and all they did was clean the dirty pan. The toilet was never actually unblocked. Maybe this is a normal occurrence.
Having to order breakfast at reception the night before was annoying. I’d understand if it was some lavish breakfast, but it was literally just rice eggs and toast. Not sure why this needs ordering in adavance. We forgot to order it one night so ended up skipping breakfast the next day through fear of upsetting staff by just turning up.
Be aware there is no pool, a photo on hotels.com looks like a pool although after re reading I didn’t see anything saying there was a pool so this is as my error, but there def isn’t one.
Also be away if you book as a family or more than two people, weirdly you only get 2 breakfasts included in the room rate. We were a family of 5, @ $9 each

Great cabin for family of 4. It’s nicely situated a few minutes from town, away from the busy La Fortuna. The grounds are incredible. Beautiful landscape with lots of nature. Lots of birds and a nice hiking trail right on the property. We loved our stay there and would gladly return.

The hotel has the basics, nothing extra, nothing spectacular. The staff isn’t very friendly, with the exception of the gentleman who prepares breakfast and knows about birds and coffee. There’s a young lady who yells every morning, arguing loudly without caring about anything. She has no knowledge of customer service whatsoever. Being the owner or the owner’s daughter doesn’t give her the right to yell as if she were in her own backyard. She argues everywhere, her voice and yelling are heard all over the place.
The breakfast lacks flavor; only the bananas and coffee are good. Hopefully, they can focus more on the customers and provide a friendlier and more cordial service.

It's nice to have a room surrounded by nature, and breakfast was good with variety of choices and lots of birds around, felt very relaxing. Our reservation covered 2 breakfast, so we just had to pay $9 for the extra person (we are a family of 3).
The only thing I would complain was the walls are thin, so if you have a noisy neighbor, you can hear everything. But this was not the hotel's fault.
This was our first 2 nights in Costa Rica, so we didn't realize that you are not supposed to throw tissues in the toilet, so it clogged up badly just before we checked out which we felt so bad, we told the front desk, and he was nice about it and said he will inform the service.
I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers!

We loved that the property was in a quiet area with amazing views of Arenal volcano. The grounds are lovely and there is a rainforest with a trail adjacent to the property. We saw hummingbirds, toucans, guans, and oropendula each morning. The staff was friendly and housekeeping kept our porch tidy and rooms clean. Overall, a great experience.

We strongly recommend Brisas Arenal for families.

The property is absolutely beautiful. We did not have time to walk the grounds, but it was impeccably maintained with lots of flowers. We also saw a sign for a trail connected to the property (?), but did not have time to ask for further details/check it out. The breakfast area is surrounded by beautiful gardening and visited by various birds (they do not encroach into the breakfast space and are very nice to look at).

The room was very practical with comfortable beds.

We found the non-graveled ground to be a bit squishy and muddy after rain (made it slightly inconvenient to bring in luggage/walk to our car), but this seems to be par for the course in the area.

There is a restaurant on-site open for dinner, but we did not eat there. Breakfast was a good value at $9.

We LOVED our time at Brisas. The grounds are stunning--just sitting and taking it all in is an excellent passtime on its own! The accommodations are very thoughtful, 'rustic comfort' (best A/C we had in CR, ironically, given we also stayed at resorts twive the price and half as lovely!), And the staff are wonderful. Exceptional breakfast (all delicious but the French toast is incredible), and the owner was so thoughtful, taking time to chat every day at breakfast. And to top it all off are the adorable property 'mascotys--several dogs (Molly and Roxy were our faves--Molly would even wait for us outside our door in the morning!)--not to mention Matilde the tame wild parrot! Can't recommend this beautiful, family run property it highly enough.

We stayed in cabin C5 and the room is spacious and clean. We did have 3 issues (1) the very firm bed which felt like we were sleeping on the spring box and not a mattress; (2) the bathroom door creaked so loudly that we were certain it woke up all our neighbors and the animals outside when we used the bathroom at night and (3) the shower water never got hot, just warm. If you don't mind any of these then the place is fine and a good value for the money.

Beautiful gardens and view of arenal volcano. Loved the hiking path on the property (about a 30min. Walk to complete the trail). Nice breakfast area with view of bird bath that attracts many different kinds of birds. Breakfast was not included in our stay, so we only had breakfast on site once.
