I love the stay so much! The staffs were all very friendly and helpful. The room was right in front of the beach and I could hear the wave sound the whole day/night. The room was pretty clean and the food was great too. Will definitely come back again!

Just checked out today after a short getaway with my girlfriends. Room was neat and clean. Plenty of space even though there were three of us.

Mira and her colleagues at front desk were friendly and warm. They even remembered our ferry departure timing and came to remind us during breakfast when the shuttle to the ferry terminal was arriving.

We enjoyed our 4D3N stay immensely; it was rustic, quiet, and simply beautiful. The staff are professional, helpful, and attentive. I had an accident and the GM personally attended to my needs. Got a car to send me to the resort clinic and back within the hour. The security is impressive, and this place is perfect for that peaceful getaway where you do not need to be stressed over small matters.

We got a beach front room that was excellent, there are gazebos, hammocks and beach chairs provided by the hotel to relax on. The hotel rooms was immaculately clean and spacious including the bathroom. All the staff were friendly and respectful.

Some litter in upper beach area - maybe away from prying eyes; but still there. Could use a complete, thorough clean-up Overall a very positive stay at this resort. As it was the quiet season it detracted from the overall atmosphere and must have been difficult for the resort staff. Would stay here again.

Mayang Sari Beach has no pool.

The description of this property is not accurate. There is no pool on the property. The only pool you are allowed to use is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride away at a different property. The only restaurant on site is an Indian/ Indonesia style. All the other restaurants require the bus that runs in 1/2 hour schedules. We also found some of the bars and restaurants closed even though the onsite advertising shows them to be open. Nice facilities, nice beaches, but they have tar. The restaurants we did find open were good, breakfast was fine also. Golf cars are available for rent but must be returned by 6PM at about 20$ per hour. We had a good time but feel like the property description is very deceptive, with a little effort by management to improve dining options and transportation between venues this could be possibly become a 4 star property. After this 3 night stay I would only rate it at 3 stars.

However, the water is not very clean. Thus not suitable for swimming and playing in the water, but the sandy beach was very nice.

We were there in November and had the place to ourselves. So of course we were well attended to by the wonderful staff. The room was fantastic, clean, comfortable and cool. The breakfast and pool at the nirwana gardens next door was so nice. We also enjoyed a couples massage which was great. I can't recommend this place more. Too bad we live on the other side of the world or we would go often.

The Hotels.com description oversold this place. It is true that Mayang Sari has only 51 rooms, but the seven restaurants and all other amenities are shared with the immense Nirwana Beach property. Restaurants and drinks were overpriced, so I'm glad we stocked up at the duty-free before departure.

The private beach is amazing, calm sea, white sand, peaceful environment. The hotel is not new but okay - the room is big, good bed, good bathroom. Everything clean and good service. But the price of the food was expensive compared to other places. For example: we traveled to Bali, stayed in a very nice hotel with excellent food and the price was half that we payed in Mayang Sari. Also the food was normal, nothing extraordinary that could justify the price. We spent more than SG$300,00 for just two days (lunch and dinner).

The food resort is quite expensive almost the same price in Singapore so there's not much different between Singapore to Bintan...except the Sandy Beaches it's magnificent amazing! The only thing I came here because of the Ocean that we don't have it in Singapore that's it!

A slice of paradise. Room was modern and clean. Sitting on our porch with a glass of wine listening to the waves hit the beach was so relaxing. Good relaxing weekend but Tar on the beach

Overall trip is relaxing, but the main reason why we booked this hotel is due to the beach. Unfortunately the beach was not \"swimmable\" as there were TAR on the water and beach. for unsuspecting guests who didnt see the caution sign, they will be surprised to see these Tar residue on their skin after even just a stroll along the shoreline. Otherwise cottage was big, nice and comfortable. It would be better if the cottage had those added security chain installed so that door cannot be readily entered mistakenly (which happened to us). There were different themed restaurants for variety, food was good, but pricing is similar to Singapore, so I would consider expensive. Each meal will cost approx 20 sgd per pax. Customer Service is good, all personnel can converse in English, and ready to help.

We had a lovely relaxing weekend. There's a problem with tar on the beach, but that is hardly the hotel's fault. The breakfast was ok (plenty of choice). The renovated rooms are really nice. We had a couples massage which was also really good. We didn't eat at Mayang Sarai but at the main hotel where to be honest the food is average at best (seems to be the same everywhere we have been in Bintan though). I would say a 7/10 and would come back because it's so easy to get to for a weekend away.

Lovely reaort but food can be improved

We got a sea view chalet which was really lovely - the beach is just steps away from our door. This resort has potential to be great - charming chalets, well landscaped surrounding, friendly staff. However there are a few not so great things about it. For a start, there is only one restaurant Spice. We had breakfast there but the quality of food is really mediocre. Wish they can focus more on quality then variety. We also took the resort shuttle to Nirwana, the main resort for other food options. The food here is slightly better but quite expensive. Tip-they do local food better than Western. My daughter ordered crab cakes and turned out it was made of surimi the fake crab meat. Very disappointing.

We also tried to order room service on our last night there but the phone doesn’t work. I had to walk to Spice restaurant to place our order and waited 45 mins before our two bowls of noodles came.

Overall, the resort is lovely for a short stay if you don’t want to do much except laze by the beach or pool (at main resort), and is not fussy about food despite paying about SGD$20-25 per meal.

Nice getaway to Bintan

Had a weekend trip here, was a pleasant stay. Beach is nice and quiet, sea is clean compared to Nirwana.
Rooms were the best feature, clean, cosy, spacious and modern.
The rest of the hotel looks old and could really do with a refurb. Restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere.
If you like a quiet and secluded beach with a nice sea, then this is a good choice. If you like a pool and a nicer restaurant with more atmosphere, then Nirwana is for you. The beach at Mayang Sari doesn’t have any pollution so it is nice for swimming. Nirwana has a little bit, so didn’t risk going in there. Either way you can take a shuttle around the resort and choose where you want to be.
Overall it was a nice stay but would have been amazing if they refurbed the whole resort.

Just what we wanted

Recently refurbed room was clean and well supplied with light and power. Nice layout. Lots of space. Deck chairs out the front and a foot tap gor sand was great.
Wifi was strong and worked at the beach and beach bar.
Breakfast was widely stocked and the egg station superb.
Free shuttle beyween tesorts at nirwana was easy and often. Walking paths also good in the cooler par of the day. Birdlife and monkeys to see. The water had visibility up to 10 meters. Calm water and not muchcurrent. Found nemo and about 30 species of fish in the rocks at either end of the beach. Then dry off on the padded sofas.
Made the most of a free game of bowls each day and many other game facilities were on offer
My son had diahrea which the on site clinic sorted out quickly..
We tried most of the restaurants across the group and good range of food and price available. Calypso bar over the water was a treat.
The only downside is that you arr somewhat captive totje resory area so food and drink are singapore prices. Even the minimart is 4 times the price in town. We took a day trip with bintan taxi from 9 to 5 one day and the driver suggested a great and flexible trip for 800000 R....AUD80. Well worth it..

Beautiful Beach With No Crowds

Mayang Sari is sort of a best kept secret in my book. The villas are right on the beach and any given day there were maybe 4 other people to share it with. My only grievance is that the food was bad, and I mean BAD. There was no pleasure in consuming it, we all just ate just because we had to. I loved this place, but the food was honestly so sub par, that I dont think I could stay there for more than 4 days.

Rooms have just been renovated. Nice and quiet spot in the northern tip of bintan. Directly facing the South China Sea. You can see Pedra Branca on the horizon. Lots of activities to keep you busy or just spend the entire day lounging around the beach.

We had a 4 night stay at this lovely hotel.
We had a recently refurbished bungalow which was spacious and modern. What a view from our door over Looking the gardens, beach and the sea!
I would definitely recommend The Spice Restaurant. We ate here every night and the food was excellent. Our son loved the baked macaroni from the kids menu.
The gardens and beach were kept very clean.
It was about a 15 min walk along the beach to use the pool at the Nirwana Gardens hotel. Great Infinity pool with view over the beach towards the sea. I made use of the swim up bar a couple of times to sample the cocktails.
All around we had a wonderful stay with stunning views and the perfect place just to come and chill for a few days.

We loved it. The ocean right in front of us. A great place for the kids as long as they love the sun, sand and sea. Easy to get around with the shuttle service that takes you to the kelong and main Nirwana Hotel. If you are looking for a chill out holiday without wanting to move about too much then this is highly recommended. The staff were excellent, very warm and passionate. The only 1 setback we had was that the aircon was not working very well. But the overall experience was good enough to ignore the aircon.

Love the resort, ambience, proximity to the beach, people, staff & total experience. This is my 2nd visit and it’s better than the first time. To really enjoy the experience, book a sea view chalet/hut. Nothing beats waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the beach 50m from your doorstep.

A haven of peace and tranquility

We've been coming back to this lovely resort for the last five years. The resort has had a renovation to all the chalet rooms. Now they're even more comfortable. The kampung style of the chalets provides an atmosphere of tranquility the moment you arrive.
The beautiful beach and its very clear water is what draws us back every time. We enjoy the sea rather than swimming pool. The resort keeps the beach very clean. But be careful of the few jelly fish every now and then.
The buffet breakfast doesn't have a massive spread, but it does provide a few tasty local dishes which we prefer while on holiday. The staff are also very attentive and friendly.
We have stayed in much more luxurious and expensive resorts in Bintan, but Mayang Sari is by far our favourite, for the value for money.

Enjoyable Weekend

We were there for a weekend stay and the service right from check-in was fantastic! The front reception staff went out their way to sort our ferry tickets back home. That start of our stay was a huge positive. We enjoyed the food at Spice restaurant and had dinner at the Kelong. I preferred the food at Spice over the Kelong. Although we didn't swim much in the sea because of the jellyfish, the little time we had in the water was great; water was warm and sand was soft. It was a relaxing stay and this was my second time there. I will definitely return because I enjoy the ambience and scenery. We stayed in the sea-view villa and that was very comfortable and spacious for all three adults in one place.

Most refreshing to be pampered by polite and smiling staff of Mayang sari. A great difference from the service we get In Singapore( sad to say)
RESTAurant at Mayang Sari serves good food. Dinner at Kelong was superb-fresh fish n crab and overall food fantastic. Tea at Nirwana resort was also memorable. Spa near Mayang Sari -Anidya( not sure of full name) excellent too. Cost for food and spa is little more than what we expected though. Would want to go there again. Love the staff

I have a great experience at Mayang Sari Beach Resort because of the scenery and it's very peaceful. Overall, I get to enjoy playing at the beach just outside our room (seaview). The room is huge, after fit in two twin beds, it still has a lot of spaces. However, the wooden floor is a bit slippery but the air-conditioner is not cold enough to fit the big room. The food taste good but quite expensive. There is free transportation from our beach resort to the main lobby at nirwana garden, kelong restaurants, resort center and etc. I definitely will visit again next time.

Beautiful beach resort with great weather but felt very remote! Must have been off season as was quite quiet and not all bars were open. Appreciate there were activities on offer but there's not a lot to do here - very much a relax on the beach and not much else trip, which isn't usually my cup of tea but huts were lovely, food was great and staff were incredibly friendly and made an effort so still had a good time.

Beautiful resort, Fantastic views, Great food

We stayed at Mayang Sari resort between 9 - 12th Dec 2016. Right from the time I booked (and had a few issues -was charged an extra guest fee which was waived, then had to move dates etc) the hotel staff attended to all my queries very patiently (as did Expedia staff who helped me with all my queries - super helpful).

The room was spacious, well furnished, clean and tidy. The hotel staff very polite, always smiling and very helpful. The views from our rooms were stunning to say the least. Scenic, calm, clean and yet lively. Taking a dip in the sea and playing on the beach with the family were very happy experiences.

The food at the spice restaurant was very tasty. Prices were a slightly higher than what we expected but that was ok. The chef Mr Kunalan and team were fantastic. Always talking to guest, enquiring about the food and ready help whenever we needed something. With my parents who are vegetarians, this was the perfect setup.

We enjoyed most of the activities at the resort. Bowling, swimming, archery, horse riding etc etc. Keeps the kids busy for a couple of days.

Two things that didnt work well. WIFI - Terrible speeds and very patchy. Good enough to send a couple of emails out though. TV and channels - Kids would liked a couple of more channels. The video quality was very poor etc.

Although the overall impression of the resort was positive, the room was a bit worn out. The hotel staff was nice. They let us stay an extra hour after check out time with no charge.

Great for seaside relaxation

The location was terrific for sports, beach activities and relaxation. However, food and drinks are very costly. Recommended only if you don't mind blowing your wallet for meals. Rooms are generally clean but a lot of uninvited guests tend to drop in, i.e. insects and crawlies. It's a good place to go if you love being close to nature and the sea. Just don't expect any shopping to be available at all unless you pay for a ride to town.
Service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Good beachfront hotel. My third stay here. The view is amazing . Quite good facilities on the Nirwana estate. Ideal for a lazy vacation. Spice restaurant serves decent Indian food , but a bit pricey.

Good location, Bad Infrastructure, Worse attitude

Not a baby friendly hotel. The nature is both outside the room and inside the room with insects/lizards coming in at will. Managed to change rooms and go to a much cheaper swappable option in the resort. Wasted money but atleast didn't have to worry about insects getting in my baby. Service sucks and if you ever ask them for a buggy ride (like when your baby is crying and u need to get back) is like asking for their kidneys. Unless of course you are white and white and with that you can get good treatment. My view is that it is a seriously overpriced hotel with rotting infrastructure.

Great view

Great view of the sea with the sea view chalet. Staff is awesome and helpful. Shuttle bus take you to everywhere in the Nirwana chain of resort.

Nice & relaxing stay facing the beach

I have booked a chalet facing the beach for 1 night at weekday, me and my kids enjoyed a lot playing in sands and swimming in beach, beach is clean but not many chairs but luckily it was weekday so only few people there.

Staff are friendly, breakfast is good (variety of asian & western food)

Free bus to take you from one place to another inside the resort

THIS HOTEL IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Nirwana website or hotels.com do not warn guests but this hotel is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. The entrance & foyer are boarded up and look like a building site. Entry is through a temporary tarpauline sheet. Breakfast & dinner are both served with a blue tarp sheet covering the windows. Not 4star.

The prices are nothing short of extortion. Duty free alcohol sales on Bintan have been banned & the hotels have price fixed the alcohol to around 3 to 4 times the price of Singapore ($16 for a 330ml can of Bintang lager!!!). Food prices are marginally more than Singapore, the standard is very average.

The rooms on the other hand are very nice, the best villas are about 10m away from the beach. Note, some are beside the builders who are renewing the roof. The welding becomes a nice feature at night though, lighting up the garden.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at the Mayang Sari but paying full price to have my heart sink at the disgraceful first impression and then suffer the criminal prices means that I will not return.

Note the copy and paste responses to all criticism of the food & beverage prices from all of the Bintan hotel managers on internet review sites; all stating that they are, 'in line with other local establishments and regularly reviewed'. I would suggest that price fixing does not leave happy customers and will certainly deter return guests. Maybe one should break the mould and aim for customer service at an affordable price...

Escape Singapore for a night!

Good place to escape Singapore for a night - but expect to pay for EVERYTHING. Skip the snorkeling - did not feel safe during the trip.Spend extra money for a sea chalet.

Mayang Sari 3D2N

A good place if you just want to relax and prefer to have some privacy. You cannot complain much about the resorts room.
Only downside may be the cleanliness of the bed linen which can be improved.
