I LOVE this place. I tend not to do reviews, but Banyan Tree overwhelmed me with their amazing service, their food (all 3 restaurants are amazing and plus this is the breakfast spread EVER). The rooms are spacious, great views, and such a honeymoon experience. The spa is not cheap, but they give you such great services that justify the price. We stayed here 5 days and never left the site. Having access to the two adjacent properties with a nice beach and gym. (We also walked around them and realized that Banyan Tree is so so much better of a place to stay). 15 out of 10 loved this place.

Overall the stay was good, service is good.

A lot of the activities were fully booked, it would be good to let guests know in advance what they can book and arrange in advance.

The bed was too high though, so not very elderly friendly for future reference.

Staff were amazing, they helped catch some unknown buzzing insect that had found its way into our bathroom. Thankful for that.

The room is spacious with beautiful sea view.
Buggy service is responsive to bring us around the resort.
The restaurant (The Cove and Saffron) serves delicious food with nice ambience.
The service of the staff (notably Lilis, Yusuf, Atomy and Wendy) are excellent and in fact above my expectations: they went the extra mile to make our stay really memorable with romantic decorations for our wedding anniversary and they also prepared two cakes for us (one for our wedding anniversary and another one for my birthday) and they sang me a birthday song.

The roof that sheltered the seats in front of the jacuzzi leaked during rain - believe it can be repaired.

Beautiful villas with a view

Beautiful hotel on Bintan! We’d recommend it.

We’ve enjoyed a villa with pool and beautiful view. Some items are a little dated, but overall we thought it’s in good nick and they maintain the villas and common areas well. The beach is a total hidden gem as it’s incredibly beautiful only a step down from the large pool. You wouldn’t need a private pool.

The service stands out with exceptional care throughout from check-in to housekeeping. Nice restaurants on site (Treetops our favourite). Breakfast buffet has a fantastic variety!

There isn’t a convenience shop close by, so make sure to pack what you need (diapers in our case). Bring loose clothing to protect you from mosquitos as it’s lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view. The property is quite hilly which wasn’t an issue with kids for us, but to keep in mind if you have issues getting around stairs.

The trips (mangrove and island) are worth doing!

This was my second time to Banyan Tree Bintan.

It’s a very peaceful beautiful resort, a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries.

Staff are wonderful, services and amenities are great.

One thing to note- the resort isn’t close to shops, no regular taxi service & to hire car/driver usually has a minimum 4hr rate.

We enjoyed interacting with the staff who were all very friendly. Was great to be able to walk around the very hilly resort or if we wanted, there was always a buggy and driver there to offer a lift.

Honestly from the previous reviews we were apprehensive yet excited to try our first Banyan Tree resort experience.

The reviews are somewhat wrong on the property being in a state of decay. Sure the resort is older and in a part of the world that is hard on landscape and structures. We felt totally at ease and massive comfort with unit 308. The units are large, in great shape and extremely clean. There were no issues with bugs or unwelcome guests.

The over the top staff are truly amazing to be part of and wanting you to feel comfortable and welcome. The spa experience was outstanding. The Restaurants are all delicious, especially the morning breakfast buffet. Booze is a lavish cost, hit the duty free before you arrive and bring some of your own.

We would certainly return if we lived closer, and totally recommend this resort as a lovely couples get away!

Staff were very slow to respond if they do respond at all. When I arrived at the airport, I was trying to contact the concierge about the shuttle option but no one picked up the phone. I woke up 5 am in the morning to watch sunrise by the beach, but no one was picked up the phone to provide the buggy ride (only means of commute out of the villa).

Worst part about the trip was that no one informed us about the monkeys and the food we left out including baby bottles and formula were stolen/ruined by the monkeys. When we called to complain no one apologized or provided any means of compensation for our damage.

Room smelt bad and plunge pool tired. Steps to pool falling apart and dangerous for children with boards coming away and nails sticking out. A million mosquitos - not sure if more can be done to keep them under control? Room service not good - mini-bar not stocked up daily and plates not cleared on balcony from in-room dining service for two days. Buggies took a long time to come (sometimes up to 20 mins).

On plus side, couldn't fault the friendliness of the staff and the food, while expensive, was generally very good.

Overall Banyan tree is okay. Hotel staff is very friendly however the mini pool was so disappointment upon check in. It look totally like an abandoned swimming pool. It was so yellowish and I thought it was an fishing pond instead of a mini pool. And there was a maggot in the bathtub. Hence didnt have a chance to use the bathtub at all. Regretted to pay the amount of money for such an 5 star resort which is not worth it.

Very good villa but a bit dated. The property need to be maintained better as the Villas have a lot of potential but come short in a few aspects (i.e. squeaky doors that don’t close well, very old AC). The food is also a bit lacking, except for the Thai restaurant which has good food but is extremely expensive, everything else is average at best. Breakfast could do with more choices.

I had literally one of the best times here. Basically Rizan was my personal butler. He handled EVERYTHING via wassap and this was so convenient. The beach is fantastic with clear water and safe waters for kids. Not even an exaggeration. We even went fishing on the Kelong Villa with the help of Rizan. Caught three fish and my kid was so excited. Location is obviously perfect bc its a 45 min trip from Singapore. Now I dont need to go to the maldives even!! Banyan Tree tree service is truly marvelous. Complete luxury in 45 mins.

Pleasant stay but hotel has issues.

This place is great but it has its problems. You shouldn’t go if your expecting a pristine hotel. It’s situated in the jungle and as with any jungle location you should expect bats, monkeys, lizards, sand flies and lots of I insects. The heat and bats/ insects made the outdoor space of the villa including the plunge pool unusable. We also didn’t expect the tar balls from the many passing ships to be littering the beautiful beach. However, the villa inside was very beautiful, the service from all the staff excellent and also the food at the Saffron and Cove restaurants excellent plus it’s a pleasant ferry ride from Singapore.

Our stay at Banyan Tree was absolutely delightful! The staff are amazing and the resort is beautiful. The Spa is definitely worth a visit, it was one of the best massages I've had! One suggestion is to book the Saffron restaurant early (before you arrive) as we couldn't get a table either nights, even tho we were staying at the resort.

The breakfast buffet is a little crowded for the volume of people they are serving which makes it not very relaxing but the staff do their best to make sure everyone is looked after!

Has a nice exclusive feel and much more private and special than the neighbouring resort (Angsana) which shares the private beach and has some other eating options (incl a nice beach dinner BBQ). Get a sea or Ocean view villa and try for a west facing one to see the sunset - they are not brand new but very nice with big bed with nets, large day bed in window for the view and v. small private pool to laze in on the balcony

Beautiful beach a short ferry ride from Singapore. Great, warm service. Wonderful breakfast. However, the property is a bit run down. The fundamentals are great (room size, view, etc), but some details miss the mark. Bathroom windows are dirty, mirrors have a stain at the edge from age, cobwebs in some common areas, the bathtub cannot fill with hot water (hot runs out after 15 minutes). I would return happily for a city break at discounted rates.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Banyan Tree Bintan, very relaxing environment, the villa was spacious with a great view and good facilities. We dined at both Tree Tops and Saffron Restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. The Angsana Resort (sister resort) next door gave us more options for beach, swimming and games room for the rainy day. The staff are very attentive and have a great service culture. There is a free shuttle bus to Lagoi Plaza from Angsana Resort for more food/dining options and convenience stores for everyday needs, worth a visit.

Unique, tranquil villas set on the hill side over the rocks with the soothing ocean sound or further up in the rainforest with gorgeous scenery.

Be chauffeured in little buggies on the undulating pathes to and from the various facilities.

Stunning pools and beach, all in all a very pleasant stay.

A stone throw away from Laguna Golf Club, a newly renovated Norman design course in beautiful surroundings.

Injury due to Low lighting

My extended family was there for a weekend to celebrate my elderly Father’s birthday. We saw the advertisement in our rooms for a bbq seafood dinner at the adjoining angsana resort on Saturday night and decided to have that. It turns out that the pool area at the angsana, which we had to walk pass to get to dinner, as well as the entire walking route connecting the angsana to the banyan tree resort were very poorly lit at night. We could not see well even after we turned on the torchlights on our phones. After dinner at the angsana, as we were finding our way back to the banyan tree from angsana, the Low visibility caused my Father who could not see well at night to fall into the ansgsana Swimming pool and in the process scraping his thigh very badly. He could not enjoy the facilities the next day, avoiding the beach and pool areas and had to walk slowly. It worried us more that he has a pacemaker. Luckily we were checking out the next evening and will definitely be visiting his doctor when we get home. We don’t drink alcohol and we’re careful to turn our phone torch lights on but still could not avoid a bad accident. The hotel shd consider safety requirements when it comes to lighting.

I found that the connecting path from banyan to angsana was not well paved or lit, yet guests are encouraged to cross over to the angsana to use the restaurants and the kids pool. Perhaps the banyan tree shd have a bigger separation from the angsana or improve the connecting infrastructure.

From the ferry terminal to check-in at Banyan Tree Bintan lobby, the process is a breeze and everything is taken care by the hotel (including the ferry terminal arrangement for the return). The staff are friendly and always try to make your stay comfortable. Special thanks to Yoga, who really goes out of his way to make our stay memorable. Including the checks for our reservations of dining and spa, special turn-down arrangement in the room and also extending one hour stay in our room to avoid us waiting at the lobby.

Nice hotel near beach.

The Bunyan tree is looking a little tired. We were in a sea view villa and the views are spectacular but the water in the outside spa /pool was a nasty shade of yellow , the bathroom had mould on the window shades and the room was a little too dark and gloomy. . Location next to the beach is great but shared facilities with the angsana are irritating as you have to go back and forth all the time. Saffron restaurant is outstanding.

The overall experience was wonderful from the moment they picked us up at the Ferry in a small private vehicle. Yoga (our customer service reps name) was wonderful. He was energetic, funny and addressed our need promptly and always with a smile on his face. The food at the resort was lovely as well as the setting, serene and peaceful. My Husband played Golf on the grounds and I relaxed by one of the pools. We both enjoyed an amazing spa trip with one of the best massages I have ever had. We will be returning for sure!

Beautiful resort exemplified by friendly amazing staff who always seemed to have a smile on their faces. Stayed three nights in an Ocean View Villa with breakfast included. The resort wasn't at capacity so the pools, breakfast and dinners were never crowded.

Lucked out by getting a villa right near breakfast venue and one of the pools so never needed to walk far (however there is free buggy service if required). Had a 90min deep tissue massage and they hit the balance with getting out the knots/relaxing.

Great unwinding after a hectic few days in Singapore. Would have loved a decent Bluetooth speaker in the room, however this is a minor gripe. Highly recommend.

From Singapore to bintan bunyan tree via ferry.

We took a short ferry ride from Singapore to bintan. Zazid met us at the ferry terminal in bintan and looked after us for the three days we spent at the banyan tree Bintan island. He was attentive without being intrusive always willing to Help.
Our villa had amazing views, infinity pools, sandy beaches and a cooling breeze throughout.
The Indonesian food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed sampling it.

Zazid drove us back to the ferry terminal having taken care of all the travel arrangements and boarding passes for us. Can’t wait to revisit.

If you want peace and quiet this is the place

Warm friendly staff, fantastic ambiance and setting. Lovely Villas and exceptional Spa experience.
The beach setting is fabulous - just a little concerning to see \"tar\" (oil) on the beach - the staff were doing a lot of work to maintain this but we still ended up with tar on feet.
The food and beverages are priced at the top end (equivalent to dining out in Singapore) which did surprise us a little. But the food, in particular, Safron restaurant was exceptional.

A very peaceful and relaxing place. The discreet but friendly staff was the highlight for me. We were always greeted with lovely smiles by every staff that crossed our path. You are pampered even at check-in, where you're offered a cold face cloth, a delicious ginger and lime drink and kueh lapis. We were upgraded to an Ocean Rock Villa on arrival, a bigger room closer to the shore. Although a little dated, the room and bathroom were spacious and immaculately kept and a turn-down service is offered every night. My 9 year old received a toy turtle from staff with every turn-down service. You fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below. Each villa has a private deck and jacuzzi, but it does become littered with leaves and flowers overnight so is unusable in the morning. However, it is thoroughly cleaned with room service every day. The buffet breakfast was terrific, offering a wide variety of both sweet and savoury options, but orders from the kitchen and coffee orders were forgotten a couple of times. Cold bottled water is brought to you as you're relaxing by the pool. The resort is quite spread out and hilly but the lovely staff drive you around in golf buggies. Just a word of warning: the roofs are traditional thatched roofs and obviously have little nooks and crannies. We were visited one night by what I thought was a gecko but discovered was actually a small bat looking to finish my cup of tea! Luckily the bed is covered by a mosquito net. Loved our stay.

Nice private place with in the rain forest

It was pleasent experience. The villa was near the sea and inside a forest. Plenty of restaurants and food was really good but little bit expensive.

If you want a relief from concrete city life you wont go wrong by choosing banyan tree resort.

Fantastic weekend break

Amazing weekend from the moment we arrived at Bintan Ferry terminal to our fantastic double bedroom infinity pool villa. The staff were all very welcoming friendly and organised and a special mention for Adi and the two housekeepers Lilly and Wendy who made some spectacular towel arrangements and flower displays. The villa massage was incredible with the lovely two girls who did a great job by our pool...just the destress we needed. Fabulous food at the restaurants we dinned at especially the champagne breakfast. Final special thank you to the young lady at reception who helped find my lost iPad. 😊 . We will be back again soon.

Resort good, service great but food a joke

Excellent place, but the food is expensive and less than average. Not what you would expect for upscale resort. Indonesian food was good (but ridiculously expensive). The Thai restaurant was average. The Western restaurant was 5* price but 1* quality. A 50$ steak (sirloin) was chewy and half of it was tanden or fat. It came with a few soft fries and pepper sauce from a can.

So relaxing.. so friendly

We went for 3 nights honeymoon, it was the right choice. Villas intillegintly set up among beautiful bushes and trees with full reservation of natural habitats looking at charming ocean view. Rooms decorated in an authentic oriental fashion going very well with gowns and toiletries bags. Staff were extremely friendly. We received a surprise honeymoon welcoming not once but on three consequent nights with celebration cake and beautifully crafted animal ornaments of bathroom towels.

Charming resort with great privacy

We enjoyed the privacy with the location of the ocean view pool villa up to the hill. It was stunning view with sunset and windy as it is been surrounded by the trees. Do expect some \"visitor\" like monkeys, garden snake..etc as we have been hug by the mother of nature! :)

Beautiful place, great views, personalised service

We had a lovely stay here with our family in one two-villa room with private pool. Amazing property with splendid views and great services. We had Omas take great personal care of us, and I assume every room gets allocated their own personal service team. Great for short family get-aways.

A Short Getaway at Banyan Tree Bintan

Banyan Tree Bintan is an excellent getaway from a quiet time with love ones. The environment is great, staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Stayed in one the Villas on the rock, really enjoyed the smooth and calming sound of the waves at night.

Wonderful diversion

A brief stay to wind down after hectic travel- received the warmest welcome from the ferry terminal pick up, to the check in process (both early check in and late check out), from the resturant staff and with the free yoga class. Incredible beach side pool and Super clean beach (again with awesome staff)! Sister hotel next door expanded pool and dining options. Memorable dinner at Saffron (thanks Awroni!) Free bikes to enjoy a quick ride to the nearby “resort” (ie more public) beach. The “towel art” honoring our anniversary stay was super fun and special- and set the tone for our stay.

Banyan tree lost its exclusivity

The fact that they're building huge apartments buildings next to the Banyan Tree makes it very impersonal and reallly ends its exclusivity. The new buildings also forced the local ecosystem preservation people to move from their original place in front of the beach to a new shop next to the swimingpool and the beach club; being just an attraction for visitors while its polluted by the constant hustle of tourists and the loud music, it's sad.

Nice tranquil resort - amazing staff and food!

We had a lovely stay at this resort. We stayed in a two bedroom infinity villa. It is so tranquil and relaxing in rain or shine. We had a great stay utilizing all the activities and facilities.

The thing that made this hotel the best was it's staff- particularly our assigned Villa Host, Yazzarh. We had a medical emergency which the hotel could not have assisted any better with. They waited at the hospital for several hours and were so kind. The GM Alpha and Yazzarh both checked in with us the next day to make sure everything was okay. During our stay they were so accommodating and they catered to every need. The food is all top quality and really nice. They offer a degustation or ale cart menu at all restaurants.

There were only a few down sides of this resort. One is the price of alcohol- specifically wine and spirits (beer is fine). it was very expensive. Also the gym - it is located in their neighboring sister hotel and it is very small. i couldn't fault anything else.
