Well, there are practically no words to describe the Anavana beach resort. The stuff was beyond respectful, kind and ready to make every second of your stay magical. My wife had her birthday while we had our stay in Anavana and the way the stuff treated her was beyond my expectations! The moment you pass the reception you are welcome in an amazing jungle. The bungalows are scattered in the area of the resort and in between is an amazing jungle with ponds with huge koi fishes. The atmosphere is something you will never expect and then there is the amazing beach right in front of the resort. Really quiet place where you can relax and enjoy every second of your stay in the resort. They also have daily programs with evening events like fire shows, Thai dancing etc. We even had a one hour Thai lesson where we were introduced to the Thai language. To us the island and the resort are magical but what stands out are the locals and the resort stuff. We fell in love with their kindness and how warmly welcomed we felt there. My wife made the comment that she felt like we stayed with a very caring family instead of a typical resort. The moment I heard it I realised that this explanation was the missing part of why I was feeling the way I did the entire time at the resort. We recommend the Anavana beach resort without any hesitation and we are ABSOLUTELY going back to the Anavana as soon as we can! You will never regret staying at the resort!

Amazing resort. Beautiful oasis in Chewang Beach. Staff were amazing and so attentive and friendly. My daughter and I are gluten free (Celiac) and vegetarian and they made sure they had special food for us...including the most delicious bread. Breakfast was included and was very good. The property is so beautiful and the cabins are perfect. The beach there is so nice and we could always find a lounger and they always brought water even if you weren't ordering a drink. We were very sad to leave.

An oasis of a resort. The nature is beautiful and the attention to detail is outstanding. We stayed here for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time.
The staff are excellent and very friendly.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
The sea was very changeable and is dependant on the weather. It can be completely calm, clear and turquoise one day and the next day it can be very rough with large waves.
I would definitely recommend this resort. 10/10

This place is a little slice of heaven on the Koh Samui Beach. The bungalows are excellent with very comfortable beds.The bathrooms are unique, stylish, and all amenities. The on property restaurant serves amazing foods of both Asian and western influence with an amazing breakfast. Then there is the spa that has amazing massage therapists. I'd swear thwy have magical hands! Nataya is the absolute best! There is a slight language barrier, but Google Translate is your friend. Overall amazing and we already have plans to return next year!

It is an amazing place. So well done in the middle of the chaos of Koi Samui. The beach is perfect. The pool wonderful. The staff is fantastic. The restaurant is perfect. The breakfast buffet was bountiful. The room was the best. Great shower and bathroom. Book it!!! If only it wasn’t half a world away, I go there over and over again.

I really enjoyed my stay here for the most part. The hotel has lovely grounds with private bungalows and it's right on the beach. There's everything you need outside on the main street: restaurants, bars, massage shops, 7/11, ATM, pharmacy etc and the daily night market is walkable or just a short ride away. Friendly and helpful staff especially at reception and in the restaurant (Lek in particular). I had several massages at the hotel spa - the first one was terrible and actually injured my back (the worst in 30 years or getting massages) but all the rest were with Nattaya who was excellent. The main gripe I have is on the cleanliness of the beach. Chaweng beach is lovely with soft sand and clear water but if it's a bit rough overnight then a lot of rubbish/plastic washes up on the beach. This is not the fault of the hotel, of course, but they were slow, reluctant even, to clean it up. I was at breakfast every day by 7am (good Thai choices btw) and the beach guy at the next hotel was already cleaning up and putting out the sunbeds for guests. Not so at this hotel to the extent that I and other guests cleared the rubbish ourselves one day, and the following day when I asked the beach guy here if he was going to clear the rubbish he said 'maybe this afternoon'. I complained to Lek and lo and behold a short while later the beach was cleaned, it took them about 20 mins to do it. It was a mystery to me that the beach team here didn't look after it better.

We had a wonderful one-night stay at Anavana Hotel on our way back to Singapore from Koh Phangan. This beautiful beachfront property is surrounded by lush gardens, and the traditional bungalows are charming and well-maintained, offering a cozy and authentic experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making our short stay more enjoyable. We especially loved the delicious margaritas and the relaxing massage place just across the street—a perfect way to unwind.
Breakfast was okay (French toast/pancakes weren’t great), and could have included more variety of food options. FYI there were quite a few mosquitoes, so we were constantly spraying ourselves with insect repellent. Other feedback would be to help guests rent scooter bikes, so they don’t have to lend their passports to dodgy scooter companies on the street.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would recommend Anavana to anyone looking for a relaxing beachfront escape in Chaweng beach.

Really lovely stay. We relaxed in this little oasis for 7 days during Christmas and we really had a great time. The little bungalow are very spacious. Bathroom is amazing. Bed super confortable.
We rented scooters across the road as soon as we arrive to have complete freeedom.
The restaurant was super good and breakfast was perfect. Great omelette..:)
I think the private beach is one of the nicest with natural shadow from the trees.
What is amazing is how close you are from the Main Street for dinner, shopping and massage and you can’t hear anything at all.
I wanted to be not too far from the activities and also a bit further away to relax and I am glad I stayed there.
Finally the team working here is just amazing and the night they organised for Christmas Eve was really outstanding.
Overall I enjoyed my stay a lot..:)

Our stay at Anavana was lovely. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. There were also a few activities on at the hotel that were free to participate in. A few cultural dances, mini cooking class and krathong making which we really enjoyed. It was lovely to get involved in the culture. We would definitely recommend a stay at Anavana

What was not to like? One of if not the best on Chaweng or Koh Samui. I read hundreds of reviews of hotels with 5 stars which were poor. This hotel is not one of those. It is brilliant. Great staff, great rooms, brilliant location and at the best beach. Rooms are spacious, Spa brilliant, food very good with enough breakfast options, happy hour with Pong, lovely beach with comfy beds, staff are fantastic. It is not 5 star but it packs a lot of punch. We as a family loved it and we were sceptical prior. Go on and book this.

A wonderful small resort in Chaweng. Very nice spacious rooms, private beach, amazing(!) service, great breakfast and nice bar. Nearby: Very good local restaurants serving real Thai food, massage shops, fruit shop, 7 Eleven. Located on the quite part of Chaeng and only 7 minutes by Songthaew from the shopping center. We will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Anavana. Every detail was perfect. Our cottage with an ocean view, was spacious and just right for 3 of us-- a couple with 20 year old son. Really an outstanding little resort!

Really outstanding property and extraordinary service. The staff is wonderful and the manager James too personal care with everyone. We had 4 bungalows - all wonderful - and ate and had drinks here daily, also outstanding. The beach and pool are perfect size for the hotel and of course you can walk up the beach for quite a ways. Not very busy by Poppies which is great but busier beaches are about 30 minutes up the beach. Taking a taxi into town or to Fisherman’s Billage is great for bars and restaurants and of course beach fire shows and drinks. Some beach clubs nearby if you want that sort of thing for a fee. Poppies is Highly recommended!

Like bar which was open throughout day, two slots of happy hour 12 noon to 2 pm and 5pm to 7pm. Lovely beach, and towel and bed man always attentive with towels and topping water, fresh fruit and around pool a great asset to the resort.
Room for improvement suggest that breakfast menu could be expanded with say self service for drinks. Gardens throughout resorts increase mosquitoes so would recommend defogging and always using mosquito repellant. Great location

The property is right on a busy street but once you enter the doors it’s a bit of paradise. The staff is wonderful and the breakfast is good. While the bungalows are nicely decorated with a traditional Thai flavor the bathrooms need updating. The beach is great, but the pool needs to be retiled. With those two caveats, it’s a good property with great people, and if the price is right book it.

Wonderful experience at Poppies. The hospitality was incredible They gave a great recommendation for a spa. They sheltered and protected us from Pabuk. The restaurant was delicious! The property is very zen-like. I loved walking through the trees and the ponds. I didn't love Samui (we came from Tao) but our time at Poppies was just lovely.

Poppies is a beautiful garden oasis with individual bungalows. You feel secluded from the world in a little paradise. You can sit at the pool and see the ocean beyond and hear the surf pounding. The ocean was too rough to swim while we were there. The staff are so nice and very helpful.

Best plsce to stay in Koh Samui! Just far enough from the action so your not in the middle of tourist heaven but still close enough to be apart of everything! Most other hotels look worn down on the island but you can tell the level of care poppies makes to ensure that each stay with them is unique and fresh. I loved the little presents they leave outside your door in the morning to the incinses they burn outside your door at night. Would recommend anyone looking for a Turkey awsome experiance to stay here

Mit diesem Hotel haben wir für uns das Schönste auf ganz Koh Samui gefunden (wir hatten ingesamt 4).
Der Baustil, die Einrichtung, viel Liebe zum Detail... der Service, viele kleine Nettigkeiten (zum Beispiel immer frisches Wasser am Strand und ab und an etwas Obst).
Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber.
Frühstück mag ich persönlich lieber Buffet, aber a la Card ist auch okay.
Der Strand ist okay, sehr fein ist der Sand aber relativ viel los. Wenn das Hotel nun noch an einem einsamen Strand liegen würde, wäre das Paradies sehr nah...
Bei dem Hotel steht Preis Leistung endlich mal im Verhältnis auf Koh Samui (ich finde die Insel insgesamt überbewertet)

This was the 2nd visit to Poppies. We were so impressed last year we had to return and such a warm welcome received with so many staff acknowledging and welcoming us back. You really do not get this exceptional touch at the larger resorts and Poppies really deserves its high rating and praise. Will we return again? Sure will!!!

Great place but they will gauge you for money

The hotel is extremely nice, in a good area with a very friendly staff. I would absolutely give them a 5 star review for the normal hotel topics. My only knock on them is the staff made me feel somewhat taken advantage of. They recommended I attend a Muay Thai fight however I soon after learned this is nothing more than a tourist trap. It was basically a bunch of young adults fighting in a high school gymnasium. The gym was extremely hot and the bleachers were invariably painful/uncomfortable. It was a total waste of money. Additionally, when I needed a ride to the airport the front desk offered to call a taxi for me. But the price they set was double the standard rate. I had to renegotiate the price, which the taxi unhappily agreed to but it was very clear the hotel staff had some form of arrangement with the taxi driver. In short, the rooms and resort are stunning but be careful using the staff for recommendations.

Perfection! Wonderful, magical oasis, if restaurant wasn’t so expensive we’d never have left the hotel for our short stay! Staff were lovely, grounds and room beautiful and loungers on the beach so comfortable. Good happy hours too. Not a big fan of Chaweng though, too many load vans advertising the boxing and this is apparently on the outskirts too, so I’m glad we didn’t venture too close to the centre. We only wanted a few days of relaxation at the end of our holiday though and Poppies provided that perfectly.

There is nothing negative to say about this wonderful place! The rooms are stunning with a beautiful outdoor style bathroom and the beach is perfection! The staff really look after you and we loved the incredible breakfast (with real coffee!) and beach service. The lounges and two towels, the water top ups and fresh fruit was so welcomed.

Poppies is a beautiful boutique resort with friendly and efficient staff. The cottages are very comfortable and fairly roomy. The bathroom contains complimentary lotions, shampoos and conditioners of a lovely quality. We had a complimentary newspaper and fruit delivered to our cottage each morning as well. The bedsheets were turned down each evening and a small surprise left on the bed. It is the small touches that make this resort so special. Even on the beach we were always getting cold water and sometimes fruit offered to us. Also the breakfasts at Poppies are a must. Everything made to order and so delicious. The only negative for us is that our cottage was very close to the road and next door to a high rise hotel which meant a bit more noise than we would have liked. We will definitely return but will request a quieter cottage. Overall a beautiful resort and one of the best you will stay in whilst in Koh Samui.

Beautiful hotel located at southern end of Chaweng beach, where it’s a bit quieter. Cottages are very quaint and furnished to a very high standard. Staff are friendly, with a personal service where nothing is too much trouble. Restaurant & breakfast are very good, over looking the picturesque beach.
This would be our first choice when we return to the island.

Had a terrific 4 night stay. First time I’ve walked in the front door of a hotel not to emerge 4 days later on the way back to the airport. The back door is the beach and what a delight it is. Poppies is certainly at the best end - clean and not near the flight path as is the northern end of the beach. It takes 50/60 minutes to walk the full length. The reviews below say it all and our stay was no exception. The bar is virtually on the beach and the restaurant overlooks the beach and the food here is excellent. Why go elsewhere. Staff friendly and full of smiles. Bao who served in the evening was very attentive and even offered my partner a towel to rest his arm on the chair (said arm was in a sling) which was a nice touch. The GM James was a delight and kindly offered us a late checkout using one of their apartments which was appreciated. Would certainly come back. Professionally run and wonderfully situated.

Lovely Boutique Hotel by the Beach

Stayed at Popppies for 12 nights - what a wonderful place. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful - starting right from the pickup from the airport with cold drinks and face cloths in the taxi. It is situated in an ideal location right on the beach in the middle of all the amenities - but sufficiently secluded as to believe you were in a little oasis cut off from the rest of the busy resort. Loved the little personal touches of the place and its uniqueness - would definitely recommend this hotel.

Just Beautiful!

Our first time in Thailand and we chose Poppies. Wow! We absolutely loved it here and will definitely be back!

From pick up at the airport you are spoilt with smiles and kindness, check in was smooth and easy with flowers, drinks and again lots of smiles and finally shown to the most gorgeous little cottage. Secluded in lush gardens and the attention to detail is amazing.

I would strongly recommend the guided tour of the island with the truly sweet June. She looked after us so well and was so knowledgeable about the island. Don’t forget to use the spa facilities overlooking the beautiful beach. The girls certainly know how to give a fantastic massage and you are well looked after.

Turning now to the restaurant. Lek and Petch give you warm welcomes in the mornings and Nicolas looked after you well each evening and he also gave us a tour of the secret passage! It is hard to remember everyone’s name but each and every member of staff went out their way to give a warm greeting and smile.

James, the GM, is clearly visible to make sure the resort runs to an extremely high standard. Many of the staff have worked at the resort for many years which shows this is a happy place. I heard several people say this was not their first visit to Poppies and I can see why. We will be back too.

Our stay was perfect! No exaggeration. Staff were friendly and helpful (organised my 30th birthday for me, with dinner, surprise cake, decorated room, the best bungalow they have! Thank you James, the manager who made this happen), facilities (pool, massage) were excellent (clean, tidy,professional) and the restaurant cooked delicious foods with attentive wait staff.
This hotel is worth every single cent! When we return to Koh Samui, we are DEFINITELY returning to Poppies.
