The resort is very nice but room for improvement. Nothing is ideal here for anyone handicapped; the walkways are uneven with interlocking set in sand, there are stairs to every building but no ramps anywhere, the bathroom showers have deep step-in tubs without any safety grab bars, the beach is multi level to the shore and the pool has no stairs into the shallow end with only a ladder to climb from the deep end. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection to chose from, the disappointment was in the daily juice, it wasn't fresh and tasted like an instant syrup water mixture. All the staff were very pleasant except the one woman that works at the front desk, she was never interested in hearing about a problem or working out a solution - very abrupt and not interested in offering any customer service - she should not be dealing with the public.

I would definitely stay here again. Very nice resort with a beach bar, pool, nice views. We stayed 3 nights but you could spend a week on this resort easily. Once you leave the resort, it’s fairly busy place. We scootered everywhere but the roads are definitely not as smooth as other places we’ve scootered around in Thailand.

The hotel staffs are helpful and friendly especially the cleaning lady name Aey. Zen at the reception desk check us in and help with the luggage. I booked this single room near the beach for a year. The room and overall hotel is outdated with basic amenities. If I have to pay more than I did it wouldn't be worth it. The beach has a huge rough rocks when you went into the water so it is pretty dangerous especially when the waves are coming in strong and knocked you down. The beach chairs and mats are pretty old and cracked. The room itself has lots of openings cracks and holes that lots of air conditioning and critters in and out of the room. Our bathroom pipes has an issue on the second day so we can hear them working on it and we later has no cold water in the sink. We have no phone in the room so we need to walk from the beach front to the front of the hotel to communicate with the receptionist. They have Line app which you can download but I don't know how often they check all the customers questions so it is best to go to whoever is working at the front desk. We would not stay here again if we were to go back to Samui. I rather stay at Cosi because it is right in town next to Samui central plaza and supermarket and night market. Samui has no sidewalk for anyone to walk. It is so busy with motorcycles and taxi and big white vans they would want to run you over. It is full of long term stayed tourists with family or couples and they drive crazy on the motorcycle. No rules.

The beach is beautiful but beware of booking a “beachside bungalow”. They’re not all exactly on the front row of the beach. Ours was a bit further back. Only like 10 seconds walk but we couldn’t really see the sea. Try to book/ask for front row beachside.
It’s quite a basic hotel… but authentic Thai style. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and a short taxi to Chaweng.

Very comfortable rooms, nice beds, lovely pool,I loved the ponds outside the rooms. Yummy breakfast. My only concern was the fridge and TV socket was very dodgy the fridge kept turning off, and the connection to the TV was making crackling noises. So I managed to pull the TV plug out to stop it from sparking, it looked to me that the plug socket was broken.

Loved first bungalow the staff go above and beyond from house keeping to the lovely ladies and men in the restaurant 👌 to the reception staff amazing 👌view for fireworks were awesome. The only thing that was disappointing was the bed very very hard even with a topper. I will return once the new beds arrive hkpefully sooner than later

The main issue was lack of internet, it didn't work in the rooms which also meant no TV was available as this was WiFi based.
Not the end of the world but a shame as it's nice to be able to catch the news or a movie.

Location, location n location !

Just returned from Koh Samui after a 5 night stay. First Bungalow is all about location, location n location. It is bang on the beach and a good beach at that. I had a beach bungalow, overlooking directly into the ocean and literally 25 metres away from the water edge. The waves were calm and one could easily walk in about 50 metres into the water, even with no swimming skills.
And now the not so good part...breakfast nothing to talk about, very average. Generally the resort is old and run down and dont look for anything plush in the room interiors, etc. Aircon and bathroom worked fine. I am used to a hard mattress but this was too hard even for me. On my request, they were nice enough to spread a soft mattress topper which made it better.
Service levels were acceptable and nothing to complain about.
If you feel the price of beach bungalows are steep, its only because of the location. If the stay is not very long, it is worth it.

The place had been here for awhile but it is well maintain. The pool is nice and you can't beat the beach here. There is no barrier so the ocean water is always clean. My kids spent hours in the water. For it location, you can't beat it price. The staff were great. Some even help us after their work hour. They have staff clean the beach chairs and comb the beach to keep it clean.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our time at First Bungalow Beach Resort. The only redeeming factor of our stay was the beautiful pool in the centre of the property. Otherwise, our room was so poorly kept; the taps in the bathroom barely worked and there was mould on the shower curtain, the bed as many have mentioned is rock hard, and even with a mattress topper it was almost impossible to sleep. The wifi just does not work unless you are in the lobby or the restaurant. The breakfast offering and the restaurant are also poor, so much so we didn’t even both going to breakfast on our last day. The staff are extremely rude and do not offer any kind of customer service. The only thing they seem to care about is their mobile phones and the language barrier for basic requests was very tricky. This hotel could be beautiful, but unfortunately it has not been well looked after at all.

Sorry to say but hotel has absolutely no saver nor security, My safe was opened by someone and mine stolen , substantial amount, I requested safe to replaced and hotel did it. All my attempts to resolve this matter went to nowhere. I left hotel 4 days prior to my stay expirations . Hotel didn’t even make any attempt to investigate such matters. Another issue , sine there are many foreigners staying there , hotel staff don’t speak even basic English which makes it very hard to communicate and resolve any matters. Never again I step to this property

Not as cheap as it should be for how basic it is. I've stayed in all sorts of accomodation in Thailand from very basic budget to 5-star hotels and have had much better for the same price or less. You just need to be aware that this is very basic.
The bed is one of the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. I had a \"Deluxe\" room, still wondering what was deluxe about it. I can appreciate a firm matress but this was just straight-up bad for your back. I had a really bad sleep due to how uncomfortable I was in every position and it hurt all day the next day. The air con was so ineffective it wasn't worth the noise of having it on. Lights are dim and dull. Your room looks out at where people pass by and has no net curtains so people look straight in to your room. The curtains are so thin I wasn't even convinced people couldn't see through them when i had the light on. You can hear everything around you, every time someone opens their door or speaks anywhere around, the noise seems to be amplified somehow; not that the guests were noisy, just normal sounds are really loud. Wifi was totally useless,i had to find a cafe to just book my next hotel.
Due to the time of year the tide was in completely so I couldn't comment on the beach but what I can comment on is when I walked over the grassy area to look at the beach it was COVERED in litter.
On the plus side the pool is very nice and the room was very clean.

Another nice stay at the best beach in Koh samui.
Although an old resort the pool and the beach is wonderful. Reasonably priced and everything you need Is right there, more and more restaurants popping up here also. Mini marts local so there is no need to go into Chaweng. Walking along the beach is nice and the water is so clean and clear.
Keep coming back each year which says something.

Didn’t like: outdated bathroom (difficult to get to and from bathtub when taking shower), fluctuating water pressure in shower. Sunlounges could be cleaned occasionally from bird droppings. Also staff for putting up sun umbrellas on the beach is impossible to find.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Beautiful beach, luscious garden setting and delicious breakfast (with omelet station etc). The area has many restaurants and bars close by.
The only ( but major) draw back was that the beds were rock hard and extremely uncomfortable.

Very nice— room a little run down but overall nice and clean. The pool was amazing and the beach great as well. Surroundings very lush. Breakfast buffet had a good selection and delicious. Asked for xtra pillow two days in a row and was unable to get due to no xtra pillows available. Air con either too hot or too cold was hard to regulate it. Laundry very expensive and charged per piece vs kilos. Mr Joy runs a pancake (crepe) stand just outside the property which we had to get s banana Nutella treat daily 😊

We like the position of Bungalow 729 and the possibility to eat and drink at the beach bar. Unfortunatelly there were lots of garbage coming from the sea to the beach. But the truth is that the staff was cleaning the beach every day.

We stayed in the beach bungalows over new year, not having stayed here for 9 years, when arriving we were told our 11 year old would have to share our bed! Even though I booked for 2 adults and a child, they tried to tell me I had to pay extra 750 baht for extra bed. Luckily when we went to the room there was a sofa so he slept on that after spending over £1k for our 8 night stay I didn't want to pay anymore.
I felt there hadn't been much improvements to the hotel in this time, love the pool however the mattresses on the sun beds were dirty with birds mess & uncomfortable these could do with being upgraded.
Also the Sunbeds on the beach could do with updating.
There was lots of rubbish on the beach outside the hotel every other hotel seemed to clean their part of the beach but not here.
Overall nice place to stay but dont expect too much.

- logistics: don't feel park of main pool or hotel
- Rm: view onto wall, 4th floor no lift, beds & pillows EXTRA HARD - requested change but slept on half sofa in room both nights (would not give refund)
- WORST experience in hundreds of hotels .. if going for standard room - DONT BOTHER
- Staff: pretended not to speak English, than same person was fluent when they required you engagement

I stayed in a beach bungalow and the view was spectacular. The room itself was nice and comfortable, but the shower was really lousy. The hotel is really close to Chewang Beach, but on a less crowded section. The staff could have been friendlier. When we checked out, they tried charging us for things that weren’t even in the minibar when we checked in. My main complaint would be the restaurant. It was way overpriced and the food was mediocre. Room service costs 2000, which is really ridiculous as 10% is more typical. Overall, the hotel is decent.

A Great Gem!

We spent two weeks at First Bungalow and we will definitely stay again when in Koh Samui. We were treated like royalty by the staff at both the hotel and restaurant where we ate breakfast each day. The location is superb - the pool was right outside our door, the beach within a two minute walk and the local shops a four to six minute walk.

The only improvement I can suggest is softer beds. They did bring extra pads upon request.

Well I don't usually give long winded reviews but this needs some words attached to the emojos. Firstly locality and beach front was sensational. Obviously the hotel is promoted in Germany and most guests were german so mixing with some non english speaking germans was hard, but we managed as best we could. The hotel pool was fantastic and almost empty every day as most guests went to the beach which suited us. The breakfast included in the price was fine.
Now the negatives and dont be too harse when reading. 1)the rooms are just dated. Clean and everything works but some parts could do with some new tiles or even a paint job. The grounds were great and well presented.
2) The only real negative and is something mentioned on a few reviews is the beds. When other reviewers said they were hard beds I was actually happy as we prefer firm beds. My god they are solid and i ended up buying a mattress from tesco and asking for further bed toppers from the hotel |(which they provided and have a few of). Just be aware and make your choice or ask for a bed topper before you arrive in your comments.

Would I stay there again. Obsolutley- why well after you take the meals out of it then you are not paying too much in Australia dollars to stay there and value for money it was great.

We had a bungalow on the beach.

I stayed for three weeks, the bungalow was perfect right on the beach, very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Rooms cleaned every day. All staff was very friendly and helped with all our questions, I would highly recommend the beach bungalows. Only critique is breakfast could be a bit better. I would definitely return and also recommend. The dogs at the resort are very well looked after and we loved them coming to visit us every day.

Careful When booking Beach Side Bungalows

Had to fight to get a proper Beachside Bungalow, most of the other have little or no beach view. They should create two rates as only 736-741,748,749,753,754 and 761-764 (14 0f about 45) have real beach views. Drop the others by 5% and increase the others by 10%. At least you would get what you are paying for.

Had a very bad experience for this hotel. This hotel is a 1 star or less rate. In all my travels around the world I never faced a bad hotel like this one. Staff is not trained at all and not prepared and if they have a manager this manager is also not prepared. Infrastructure that doesn't work. Awful and cheap breakfast. This is definetely not a resort and shouldn't be having this name! It should had called bed&breakfast or inn. The only nice thing is the beach that is clean and calm but not crystal water either.

Worst stay in Thailand

Worst stay in Thailand. Rooms are not as pictured. View is only to another ajoining apartment complex. AC loud and rattles all the time. The worst part of the stay was the staff. Incredibly rude and dismissive. We hired a scooter and it was broken - we realised this as soon as we took it off the property and promptly took it back (within 15min) then they tried to charge us for the breakage.

Steer clear of this hotel we are so pleased to be checking out.

Pluses:
- On Chaweng Noi beach.
- Pool is ok.
- Some restaurants close by

Minuses:
- A lot of dogs on beach which walk around resort. Was bitten by a dog on the beach. Staff do not do anything about the dogs.
- 15m walk to the main Chaweng beach
- Poor breakfast, only omelette and fruit was ok.
- Poor wifi
- Beach towels small and run out quickly
- Toilet broke multiple times
- Air con was poor and loud
- Room walls and tiles in bathroom covered with mould
- Hotel gave us single bed room rather than double bed room as booked.

Don't book a std. room, they are not part of hotel ,small ,dark and most with bad views.
Had to upgrade to deluxe room and finally got a nice room after moving 3 times.
The hotel has no evening entertainment, but this is common. Breakfast was good and restaurant in great location overlooking sea,
Hotel in quieter location than most.
Overall good choice of hotel for the price.

First Bungalow Resort Koh Samui

We spent 11 days at the First Bungalow resort and would tell any families with kids and couples to stay there. You have your own private beach thats maintain perfectly, beachside cafe food is nice, beach chairs that you don't have to pay for.

Our room was 704 right opposite the pool which our 3 year old loved & so did we.
$4 in taxi to main shopping area taxi right out front of hotel.
Massage & restaurants only 50m away.

We will come back and stay with you guys again and again.

WIFI in room was pretty average & bed was very hard which we requested a bed topper and there was no charge and was done straight away.

Rooms were super clean, cleaned daily.

Quiet and relaxing

There were 12 of us staying here for four nights. We either had the pool side rooms or the sea bungalows. The location was perfect since it was at the end of the Chaweng beac, so it was less crowded and less noisy. There were many shops around within 5 minutes walking distant including a family mart, dive center, laundrymat, tailors, roti food stall, massage and spa shops, and many restaurants.

The service was amazing and we all felt comfortable and relax. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of items and different each morning we were there. The pool was lovely and clean. Wifi reached all the way to the beach. Seaside bungalows were very nice and only less than 10 steps to the beach. Sunrise and sunset was gorgeous with dogs swimming in the ocean and barking at everyone--being sarcastic. We saw a man walking with a buffalo on the beach with his dog leading the way. Few seashells scattered around the beach. Many little fishes and critters around the rock area.

Something they could work on are the Wifi around the pool area include the rooms around there had poor connection, hot tub was not heated, and bathrooms in the poolside rooms need to be upgrade.

Overall, great place to relax with amazing breakfast and beach front view. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

The bungalow was located on the beach, next to the sand bar (only a couple of steps to the sunbeds). The room had a nice size and all the necessary things, but no atmosphere. No decorations on the wall, no colours).At 4pm they started to clean up the sun beds and at 5pm the sand bar was closed (so no drinks while enjoying the sunset). As a result, from 5pm the hotel looked deserted, everybody went to their rooms or the next-door bar. The staff was friendly, but not eager to serve us. I think this resort is lacking good management! I would not recommend this hotel to friends and will never go there again.

This hotel was average, nothing spectacular but for what was paid I cannot moan. Air con was good if anything too cold. Customer service at the hotel could have been better, carrying 20kg cases up 4 flights of stairs after a long day of travelling was not ideal but with no lift there was no choice.

loved this hotel, right on the beach, very large pool, and walking distance from all the bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room very clean (deluxe room)

The name Beach Bungalow was a misnomer. Our room was neither on the beach nor a bungalow. One must pay the top price for those. The first room's AC did not work. It was recharged, and then spewed water and chunks of ice with a loud noise all night until we turned it off to try to sleep. We could have simply gotten another room, but chose to upgrade for a price ! to a room near the pool. We noticed few smiles in \"the land of smiles\" which we found extremely unusual.

Spend the money and get one of the Beach bungalows

This was a nice three-star hotel you can get a room around the pool which is OK, but it's better to spend the extra money and get one of the bungalows on the beach they are very nice and you're right on the water.

First Bungalows Beach Resort

Staff were very unprofessional especially a waiter at the Beach Bar called pkpk who was rude and lazy and told us that you had to buy food to sit around the bar area and not just drinks. Air conditioning was not working properly but was told it was working, we would never stay there again and read all reviews on trip advisor who say the hotel is bad and totally agree.

Best beach in Chaweng

The hotel was okay, it was satisfactory. The food onsite is good, the hotels private beach is worth staying here for alone. The staff are pleasant and the scenery is amazing.

All facilities are onsite including laundry diving trips and you're at the top end of the main strip

Hotel in nice and clean pocket of southern end of Chaweng Beach. Safe location and easy walk to shops and restaurants. Beach bungalow was roomy and clean. Large pool and great beach. Hotel restaurant is airy and cool with a lovely terrace overlooking the water and great breakfast buffet.

Great location for family

We travelled with our 3 year old son. The hotel was great for us; right on the beach in a beach bungalow, close enough to restaurants and bars to walk (with buggy) or get a cheap taxi but away from the hustle and bustle. Our bungalow was literally right on the beach and next to the beach bar. Staff at the beach bar and reception were very friendly. Our maid was excellent and looked after us; leaving extra water and towels wen our son had a sickness bug. The sea is rough by the hotel so wouldn't advise it for swimming or children (saw a few people in serious trouble out there during our stay) but great for watching the waves and the pool is excellent to swim in. Nice cool breeze off the sea and plenty of opportunity to get into the shade if needed. Pool towels are provided and rooms have all you need. Fairly small but location wins!

Lovely Hotel, great quiet location

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was nice and comfortable, the only disappointment was that the balcony didn't have a view as there is another building quite close. The pool is great and it's right beside a lovely stretch of quiet beach.

Breakfast was ok and we had a nice lunch most days at the beach bar. The hotel is at one end of Chaweng Beach main strip, lots of nice bars and restaurants but they are usually quiet, which was fine for us. If you want more noise/action then it's a 15-20 min walk.

Wonderful holiday

we stayed in the beach bungalow which was the perfect location! Don't wast time staying in the standard room as its a room facing building walls, although the cheaper option. Breakfast was average and nothing special except for the omelets. The room was cleaned perfectly everyday with a beautiful touch of a towel design. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the hotel service was to the best standard. We will certainly be back.

Fabulous beach, nice pool, lovely grounds.

Staff were very professional, the hotel was between 2 of the best beaches on Koh Samui, easy to get taxis everywhere, breakfast was delicious and in a nice location. Grounds were kept immaculately and beach bungalows are a must.

Beachfront bungalows are definitely worth spending the money on as you're right on the most beautiful beach in Cheweng Noi which is very clean and deep. Restaraunts and shopping is all very close and breakfast is always included which was a great buffet with lovely views along Cheweng beach which was fabulous! Staff were very professional and the pool is great, couldn't fault anything, would definitely book it again.

We stayed 6 nights and found the resort to be very good value for money.The pool is specious and beautiful,the beach is a great swimming beach and on the other side was the Chaweng beach if this not enough . Breakfast was full with varaiaty and fresh fruit.The location is on the quiter end of Chaweng but with plenty of shops and restorants nearby it is only 50 bhat to the hart of all or 20 min walking. Overal it was a very good place and choice of stay.

we have been their about 6 days, hotel is very good, located between chaweng and chaweng noi beaches, far from the main night entertainment places. But on the territory of hotel there are many cats, may be for somebody it's not the problem, but i think administration of the hotel should take in to consider that some guests may have allergy or phobia. Our friends wanted to stay in first bungalow but due to the presence of cats they decided to go to another place. I think it is not very pleasant to eat breakfast sitting next to a cat and meows and requests food? For us it was abnormal.
Regarding the hotel staff, everything is ok.

Clean/Spacious Hotel near Chaweng Beach

Stayed at the 3rd floor. There is no elevator, but the hotel provides bell boys to carry the luggage upstairs. Room is clean and spacious. WIFI speed is good.

I would have expected more for the price

When I arrived there it looked really nice with all the bungalows around the swimming pool but then they brought me to my room in a building outside of the hotel in the third floor. The room was big but through the balcony I had a direct view into another room - I am quite sure you can even climb from one room to the other. Far not what I have had expected for the price....
The room service came at 8am on the second day - maybe on the first day too but as I was diving I left early and that is not a time to clean the room. For me 8am is not even sleeping longer than usual during holidays, so I did not considerate putting a sign outside of the door.
There was no breakfast included and it is bit to walk to the main area - you can have breakfast outside of the hotel for much better quality, service and less money.

Amazing little simple bungalow right on the beach.

Perfect location right on the beach that also has a huge pool if your wanting a break from the sea and sand. Breakfast buffet a good variety. Short walk to shopping and other restaurants.

Physically and verbally assaulted.

Location good, hotel ok, staff ok, restaurant crap. Beds are rock hard, our room on 4th floor walkup. But the hotel is fine. we give it a 2.5 out of 5 perhaps.

Our problem is with the acceptance by the hotel of blatant bullying, physical and verbal assaults by some guests. They hotel allows the disgusting practice of letting people take a hotel towel and place it on a lounge at the pool as early as 6am. They then leave the towel there all day to return in the afternoon to claim \"their chair\". There is not 1 free chair by the pool at any time during the day, no one sitting on them and not 1 person swimming in the pool. The chairs can't be used by any guest who actually wants to swim or sit in them. After watching chairs sit empty for hours and hours we moved two hotel towels (no personal belongings) and used the chairs for more than an hour. Eventually two Russian guests came to us tried to physically push us out of the chairs, tried to throw our electronics into the pool, screamed profanity at us, and put their fists in our faces. Other guests (mostly Russians) watched and laughed. The hotel staff only came to us when we went to them and asked for help. They laughed it off saying \"don't worry, just Russians\". This happened on our 1st day (of 10) and we haven't been back to the pool since. We left the hotel for 3 nights, lost money and paid more to stay somewhere else. Hotels need to STOP allowing this disgusting, rude, selfish behaviour of chair reservation.

Great hotel, really friendly staff and very helpful. Swimming pool is really big and always lots of sunbeds. The beach is beautiful and the weather was perfect. It's just a 2 minute walk into town where there are hundreds of places to eat and drink.

Beautiful beach everything nice

The beach was gorgeous. Nice seaside restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable. The only down side was that the mattress on the bed was a little old and sagged in the middle, but I slept alright. I rented a motorbike at reasonable rates from the hotel. The massage services were excellent, clean and comfortable. Pretty much everything you need is available right there on the property. Location is great. Far enough to be nice and quiet, but easy access to either Chaweng or Lamai.

Relaxing hotel on the beach

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at First Bungalow. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, providing us with tour bookings and massage services. The beach was beautiful and as well kept as the accommodation. The breakfast was amazing and there was lots to choose from. Wifi signal was strong and consistent. We would come back.
