Nice hotel

The breakfast was really good and the restaurant area very nice. The rooms all had a theme which was lovely. However the bathroom could have been cleaner when we arrived. We did also have to put a blanket on the floor at the bottom of the door to block light coming in from the corridor. Although the room was cosy and the shower was big.

Booked the pike and eel on a last Minuite decision. Very pleasantly surprised on arriving at the hotel to see its position. The door to our “Chalet” overlooked the River/ marina and as I’m into boats what a result. Spent a very pleasant evening on the decking outside the hotel enjoying the atmosphere. Ok the midgies/mosquitoes were annoying, but next time I will be prepared.(Avon skin so soft). Friendly helpful staff and a friendly clientele made the evening very enjoyable. If only we lived closer than 4 hours!! Will defiantly stay again. The Chalet may be basic but the bed was comfortable and the shower refreshing, all we needed. The hotel is friendly and inviting and with the position, what can I say.

Shoddy rooms with paper thin walls.

Reception chaotic with no indication of where to sign in.
We stayed in Chalet room. Shower and bath tiling was in need of a clean.
Room generally shoddy with mismatched window blinds. One of blinds was incorrectly fitted and so didn't work.
Walls paper thin and we were woken a 1 am with neighbours who then chattered for over an hour.
Would never stay there again.

Interesting location and a building with character

Overall a good one-night stay and good value for money, in an excellent location. We stayed in Master Swan suite and there was plenty of space. What must be said, however, is that the stairs up to the room are very steep and because it is a building with \"character\" the floors in the suite were pretty uneven, meaning that care was needed when moving around. It is also the case that the bathroom had a few design \"quirks\" (like nowhere to put the soap or toothbrushes by the sink) and although soap + shampoo etc were provided there were no tissues.
We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fine, ditto breakfast.

Bed was clean but soft. Room needed attention - dusty floors, litter next to bed, dusty bedside lamps, dirty windows. Floor was extremely noisy and leaned in several different directions. Sound proofing not good, could hear phone conversations and movement from other rooms. Restaurant service was slow and no info in the room to advise opening times, which are limited. Location was lovely - shame the hotel doesn’t’ match up. Disappointing.

Fabulous traditional (family feel) pub/hotel on the river/marina. Sitting out in the sun, listening to the music provided soaking up the scenery was just brilliant - not what I was expecting but absolutely loved it! I would definitely go back and stay again. The food was good and staff friendly and attentive (but I was expecting that). Would definitely recommend.

Very Disappointing for £90 a night !

Lovely setting, but room very disappointing, blinds broken, flooring very tatty, strong smell of sewage from bathroom in the evening, lots of cobwebs. Bedding & Towels very clean but whole room needs a lick of paint, new flooring & definitely new blinds as there are no curtains

St Bes pleasant business trip

Lovely room and bar in a beautiful location, staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately let down by local environmental issues with fly infestation in bar. Room was clean and fly free as long as windows kept shut.

Quiet and rural right by the river

We stayed in the Master Swan Suite which was spacious and lovely. Cooked Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. There was also some cereal but nothing else so I felt it was rather over priced. We were able to launch our SUPs from the site so that was a great bonus

Both of us returned with bed bug bites confirmed by a GP. Absolute shame as the hotel staff, surroundings and room were more than pleasant. It may be that staff are not aware of the issue. Hopefully they will see this review and take action.

Beautiful location even on a very blustery cold day in February. Lots of parking. Friendly staff. Upgraded to a beautiful room with a huge slipper bath. Only improvement would be soundproofing from the bar but once the bar closed we didnt hear a sound. Would love to return when the weather improves to enjoy the setting

There are a few small things that would make the hotel excellent. For example there is no towel rack/hook in the bathroom so when you have used a towel there is nowhere to hang it to dry. Also the towels are not big enough - they only just go round you. We enjoyed our stay!!

I don't like giving a hotel a low score as most try hard to provide a service to match expectation. I was in one of the chalets, there was no wifi, room heating was minimal. Breakfast was a disappointment - just cereal and toast, no hot breakfast availalbe, even as an extra.

Do not stay unless you desperate

Okay I realised it was a Marina and we would be in one of the chalets but...
Heating was lukewarm and the chalet was cold
Milk cartons were mouldy
Cobwebs and dust
No iron or hairdryer
Smallest tv in the world
Dirty bath with mat already in it - I dare not look under it
No extra pillows or blankets
No phone to be able to call the main hotel
No wifi
No food on at the main hotel - as kitchen getting refurbished! We were not told of this in advance

The only person we saw was a young man behind the bar of the main hotel. He was pleasant enough but even asked us if we had already paid for our room?!

This was a good location for us as we were at a golf club the following morning about 2 minutes away but extortionate price at £75 per night! Luckily we paid using Tesco vouchers so cash cost was £12!
I'm used to camping and this is worth nothing more than a tent pitch - £20 at the most! The facilities for £75 are disgusting

Beautiful setting, but such a let down!

Been going here for many years, hence why we decided to stay here and have my uncles wake here , we also had an evening meal, food was OK, rooms were filthy, only interested in money, no one around to comlain too. Wake food was nice but hot food greasy and over priced but when you have no other option.
Paid for bed and breakfast over a hundred a room and on a Saturday there is no breakfast well except a toaster and 2 loaves of Kingsmill bread, no plates, and they knew some 9f party had allergies so couldn't even have bread.
So upsetting
We had travelled hours to get there and had long drive home we had to go elsewhere and spend 45 on breakfast

A hotel well off the beaten track.

Surprised to find our room was not in the main building.and some distance away. Very nice outlook from a pleasant room but the block of rooms was not attractive from the main building.
Room service not up to expectations and no hot water on two out of four days.
A discount was offered and accepted.

Definately a hotel that needs a lot of TLC. Chairs in the bar and lounge were either filthy or threadbare, the room decor was very poor, bed for me was comfy and clean but generally not a good place. then to be told in the morning that there is no cooked breakfast unless its Sunday was beyond belief. The place needs shutting for a period and some money spending on it

Disappointing but adueqate

Needed to be in the area for family celebration so we thought the location would be ideal by the river; but on arrival very disappointed, hotel looks ready for closure. Although we’d booked double ensuite in main building we were shown twin room in chalet which was freezing! Managed to change to room which was warm and clean but no toiletries and very basic. Staff polite but not particularly friendly. Think again if you’re considering.

Nice pub, shame about the hotel bit.

Looked promising on arrival but bathroom light not working (apparently reported week before), lamp over desk also not working. Breakfast comprised a filter coffee machine, assorted cereals and a toaster. The bread was out of date according to the label but it had been frozen was the reply. Very bad impression. Apparently the place has just been taken over. Won't be coming back.
