First I would say I would recommend this hotel as a nice budget option, it looks lovely and is in a great location to access Cambridge and the surrounding areas, the pool and amenities are a great touch and the room was decent enough for the money which a nice tv, comfortable bed and a spacious room. - better suited for off peak travels

Complimentary parking for IHG members was also a great touch meaning we saved considerably when it came to paying for parking unlike other hotels in the area.

However - specific to our stay we were disrupted by a false fire alarm at 6am which continued for short bursts over a period of time because they “couldn’t reset it” which severely impacted our sleep.

Our bedroom door was severely non soundproofed we could hear everything including the cleaning staff, knocking on other doors and other guests which sounded as if it was ours or in our room itself which wasn’t great and worsened by staying during half term meaning there were more kids around - which also meant the pool was very busy and we ended up not using it because of the amount of families at the time

Also we had issues hearing water sounds from the bathroom and had no cold water on the day we checked in, making showering and washing hands difficult with only extremely hot water we also had issues with the toilet not flushing properly - the cold water was restored the day after when we had informed the reception staff but the toilet continued as an issue.

Requested tea bags for the room. Didn’t arrive. When we asked at reception why they hadn’t been delivered was told they didn’t have any. They did we’d seen some.

Easy checkin and free cookies. Parking isn’t free unless you are an IHG member, so make sure to join before arriving.
Room was fine. Comfy beds and pillows. Shower good if not hugely hot.
I think the hotel is used by a lot of business people as it gets noisy from 6AM onwards as people slam doors. So don't expect a quiet lie in.
Breakfast is actually very good, although if you arrive before 8:30AM you may struggle to get a table.

Hotel is in a great location and I have stayed here before, but on this occasion the condition and cleanliness was poor, dust on the the room numbers, thick cobwebs on signs in the corridor, the timescale build up in the baths makes it look like they are only cleaning the main bits regularly. Marks on the bedsheets (clean but marked)
For the price I would expect better

As expected

The hotel room was spacious, you could tell it was slightly aged, but it was clean. Staff on reception were excellent as were those serving in the bar and restaurant. I used the gym, the facilities were good, albeit a little tired. There was a wedding at the hotel on the 2nd night we stayed, any hotel room in the corridor of the reception hall (where we stayed) feels like part of the party. The music was so loud. It does get turned off at 12am, but it's intrusive. The hotel manager and reception staff were excellent, unfortunately there weren't any other rooms to move to, but I can't fault their customer service. Overall this is a decent little hotel on the edge of Cambridge, easily accessible.

A pit stop on the way to France. Initially the hotel looked great, amazing gym and pool but the rooms were tired in need of upgrades. There was a wedding reception and the lobby and bar were chockablock. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The stay at this hotel was a stop over towards our final destination. It is in the ideal location for a one night stay.
The check-in clerk (Alan) was extremely pleasant, professional and helpful.
The room was a lovely room in a very quiet area of the hotel. The bedroom was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean and functional but could be in need of an update.
All of the staff we came into contact with at the hotel were all polite and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel as an ideal stop over hotel.

The hotel is not in walking distance to central Cambridge but is very close to Milton park and ride to get into town (£4 return, free parking). Hotel decor is a little tired in places, signs of wear and tear but it was fine for a one night stay. Staff super helpful and welcoming, ok breakfast, pool is a bonus.

Spacious rooms and clean but it was very cold. Neither radiator or in-room heating/air con worked. A family event brought a large group of us to this hotel. Their rooms were also all cold. Hotel explanation was that they turn their heating off in the summer months, therefore the temperature control box in each room was not fit for purpose. They did however bring a small heater. Breakfast was average. Nice pool area.
Although you’re out of town they charge £10 for parking overnight which is poor, unless you are a IHG member. Top tip- join the IHG group on checkin for free parking.

A rundown motel carrying the Holiday Inn brand

The hotel doesnt have elevator; bathroom faucet was loosely hung on to the sink; a batch of hair stick to the wall tiles of the shower when I first walked in. Otherwise it is just an aged motel so happens to be carrying a Holiday Inn batch that misled me to book it.

Decent but needs renovation

A decent hotel in convenient location. The bedrooms and bathrooms are a bit dated and in need on renovation... The bathroom in particular sorely needs updating. But over all a comfortable night sleep and good facilities. Very helpful and friendly staff and was made to feel welcome. Would definitely stay again.

Let down by bathroom

Booked as a night away to visit Cambridge with my two young children. Our room wasn’t ready at check in time which was disappointing but without having to ask we were offered free drinks and activity packs for the kids along with apologies. Cookies too!
Room was what you’d expect from a holiday inn, basic but comfortable. Slight niggle was the sofa bed being out blocked the dressing table/chair area. This could be easily addressed by just reconfiguring the layout of the room slightly. Meant I had to get ready on the floor in front of full length mirror.

The bathroom was old and tired and could do with a full refurb, but at the very least just some mould and limescale treatment! A new toilet seat and fixtures and fittings would go a long way too without having to rip it all out.

We tried the pool in the health club, had to go on a waiting list and the go back to room and get called. Understandable as they were at capacity but would’ve been helpful if there was a way to communicate this to guests prior to us traipsing down with 2 excited kids. Not the end of the world. Pool was small but ok. Changing rooms were dirty and had no individual changing areas, but the latter is what I’d expect from a hotel gym.
We had breakfast for £13, kids eat free. Decent buffet food but no one came to ask if we wanted anything from the a la carte menu.

Overall I’d stay again in the area, but the main draw was the pool but I’d probably not use it again so likely would try another hotel.

One to Forget!!

Executive king room was in poor condition with water damaged skirting board in the bedroom, black and rotten which, COINCIDENTALLY the maintenance lady appeared to replace just as we put our bags on the bed at first entry.

She offered another room to similar standard on the first floor which was very tired and had not been painted recently. Small TV in the offered replacement cin comparison made us stay where we were. The chain lock on our doors had obviously been smashed off with splintered door frame. Painters simply painted over it. Do they ever prep with glasspaper?

Pool full of kids its half term so waiting list fot all gym, Pool or sauna. No rota or time limit on entire families spendin selfish hours in the pool. Receptionist's English very poor throughout. Car parking £8 per day! Forgot this one!

I had a comfortable overnight stay at the Holiday Inn in Impington, but for £95 for the one night without breakfast, I expected it to be better. The room itself was clean, the bed was very comfortable and there was tea & coffee facilities and a bottle of water in the little fridge, but the overall condition of the decor in the Bedroom and Bathroom was tired and a bit shabby. I found the room cold, probably due to the full length curtains covering the radiator, but despite adjusting the heating/air conditioning on the wall, it made no difference. Fortunately there was an electric radiator in the room, which I plugged in and used for most of my stay. I could not find any heating in the Bathroom, not even a heated towel rail, so consequently my towels were still damp in the morning. On a plus side, the Staff were very polite and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed using the leisure facilities, although would recommend using them early morning rather than in the evening as it gets very busy.

The rooms were clean, but need some renovation, especially the bathroom, which has seen better days. We didn’t like the bed, but that’s just a personal preference, as we like firm bed. Breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from.

The manager of the Holiday Inn, Cambridge tried his best. We arrived at the Holiday Inn, Cambridge on a dark cold evening and attempted to check in with our paid, guaranteed reservation. We were told there had been a glitch with the booking software and there were no rooms available.

As a service provider myself for many years, I have always held to the belief that a dissatisfied customer, properly treated, can become one of your greatest supporters. Sadly, even the best efforts of the manager couldn’t make this happen for us. To be fair, he was faultless in his courtesy and attention to our needs. However, sorry, the hotel was full. We would have to go somewhere else. We rejected his proposal to switch to the other Holiday Inn on the other side of the city but eventually he offered to upgrade us to a local Hilton. He agreed to pay all additional costs including the Hilton’s pricy underground carpark.

All this took over an hour sitting and standing around in reception and then driving over to the other hotel. It was a bad start to a short holiday break (though the Hilton turned out to be amazing!). Despite the manager’s respectful attention I don’t think I’d book the Holiday Inn again.

When the receptionist call you in your room, a few hours after arrival, asking if everything was ok with our room, you can’t complain about the service. Everything else was on the same level: bar, lounge and restaurant. Staff was very friendly and food was very good. The staff in this hotel knows what hospitality means!

When we arrived the pillows had black marks on them, one of the hand towels was dirty and there was a cobweb over the window. When mentioned to the front desk this was rectified same day. Our room was described as having a king sized bed but it appeared to be a double. When raised with front desk we were told that this was a \"UK king sized\". We were later moved to a superior king sized room which had a king size bed in it. Free upgrade.

Cold room, no heater works, the room smells weird, right away you can smell the dirty socks… even if after cleaning the smell does not disappear. Great hotel, provided all we needed and handy for visiting our friends and for exploring Cambridge. Pool, sauna, steamroom and jacuzzi all good. Food (dinner and breakfasts) and service were great. The room was comfortable and quiet and had nice blackout curtains, but maybe ready for a refresh. We could have done with more light in the room - there is no top light and although there are various side lamps, my preference is to be able to have more light when needed. Otherwise though, a great stay and we'd definitely use the hotel again if back in the area.
