Incredibly Oppulent

Incredible place, especially for the price I paid. Wish I’d stayed here for my entire trip rather than only my last night!

Because it was low season and quiet, the staff upgraded me to a premium room - simply stunning - desk space at a large window with a view, lounge chair, opulent bathroom, and a dreamily comfortable massive bed capable of holding a family of five.

My main criticisms are that, despite the bathroom being gorgeous and massive (with great toiletries to boot), the shower was unable to be enjoyed stationery - the nozzle had to be held - and the shower door didn’t close.

The pool is lovely, albeit with no deep end.

The wing I stayed in looked like it was refurbished not too long ago. It looked as if it was brand new, it was comfortable, it was clean! Unlike the older wing where the gym and pool is located, the gym and pool area had an odor as if it hadn't been maintained well. The room and hallway are all great, and the bathroom and shower are also great. The toilet had a built-in bidet with seat warmer.

My only complain is perhaps it's about 7-8 mins walk from the Chong Nonsi BTS station, so it was quite some distance. There were plenty of food during the day because it's in a business district and near a school, but very few to no options at night unless you walk over to Silom Road.

If you want to be close to the temples, palace, ICONSIAM, water canals, skywalk, and Lebua rooftop bar, this is the area to stay. However, be prepared to take sky train to Nana or Siam area as it’s about 5-6km away. It’s walkable, but you won’t want to walk it everyday. It’s also not as easy to find a tuktuk, but tuktuks will take you here.

Air Conditioning Issue Ruined My Stay

This hotel seriously needs to reconsider its air conditioning policy. Guests are not allowed to adjust the room temperature themselves. everything is locked and pre-set. That might seem like a small detail, but for me, it ruined my entire trip.

Cold air blew directly onto the bed all night, and I ended up seriously sick — with a chest infection that lasted beyond my trip.

I tried to endure it, not wanting to be a difficult guest. But in the end, I had no choice but to ask staff for help. They kindly sent a technician, but by then the damage had already been done.

the water system in the bathroom on the 12th floor was awful. The temperature was unstable, swinging from freezing to scalding without warning. the water pressure even became dangerously high.

The room I stayed in was next to a water pump system. At 3 a.m., I was suddenly woken up by a loud noise when someone in a nearby room used water, causing the pump to activate. It was a very unpleasant disturbance.

Everything in the room looked outdated. The wardrobe didn’t close properly, so the internal light stayed on all the time. The lighting in the room was also dim, making the entire space feel gloomy.

The only positive side of the stay was the staff – they were all friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service. Sadly, that wasn’t enough to make up for the rest of the experience. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this hotel again.

Since you can hear the noise from the hallway, you need to consider things like not using rooms next to each other, or changing floors. It's not good that there are no power outlets at the bedside these days. Other than that, it was very good.

Such a beautiful, old style iconic Thai royalty hotel! The staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Many speak excellent English. I was there over the Loy Krathong Festival and they taught me how to make my Krathong to float in the pool. The pool is lovely, and large enough to swim laps. The breakfast in the morning - which was included in my room rate - was delicious, varied, and so abundant. Happy Hour 2 for 1 specials made the evenings fun, and there was music in the lobby bar. The hotel is close enough to walk to the Silom Complex - a mall with many stores, eateries, etc. It’s a taxi ride to IconSiam and the waterfront. I felt safe in the neighborhood traveling by myself. I would stay again if I’m fortunate enough to go back to Thailand.

So so but not for a 5*

15 minutes walk to metro, no restaurants close by hotel restaurant OK. Staff very friendly & helpful.
Booked as a 5* hotel expecting the WOW factor which I never got! Decorated in an original design it just needed a refresh! Gym needs updating.

One thing I didn’t like is the laundry service and I have to call front desk to request of returning my laundry. This time the front desk staff sent the housekeeper to collect laundry instead of returning my laundry. Just don’t understand what is wrong with their system?

That is the only improvement needed in my view.

Check in was fast and Efficient. Staff explanation was good. Room was spacious. We had booked the one bed corner suite. Good location about 10 minute walk to BTS and MRT stations. Only negative was dinner took along time to come out (nothing special) and my wife had almost finished her meal before mine came out. No explanation aa to why the delay.

Fantastic location in the heart of Bangkok. Easy to navigate to most attractions and excellent transport network. The hotel is quiet to stay in but yet a 10 minute walk to nightlife Bangkok.

Great shopping and dining options on the doorstep and also within the hotel. The breakfast here is amazing. Absolutely spoilt for choice. The service provided by its staff is absolutely top notch.

My room was quiet but this was probably not owed to the sound insulation but to the fact that the hotel wasn't too busy in general.
The room could do with a makeover. Some of the technical equipment did not work perfectly anymore.

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. The only reason I did not give an excellent review is that the shower temperature is impossible to regulate. It is scalding one minute and the next it is cold. I have stayed at this hotel before and this is an ongoing problem. I do hope that the management take steps to remedy this problem.

Property is old. The hardware may have been 5-stars 20 years ago, is still solid but a bit tired. Location is convenient if you can walk 5 mins, but there is nothing in the immediate neighborhood. At check-out, they wanted me to stay in the lobby until they had checked my mini-bar consumption - I refused.

Beautiful gem of a hotel in the heart of the financial district.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Great facilities - sauna and pool to enjoy after a day of shopping!
The staff responded immediately when we had a plumbing problem and were able to fix things right away, early in the morning. I highly recommend this hotel for city stays in Bangkok.

We loved our stay here. It really was the staff that made it an outstanding experience. They all went out of their way to make sure our needs (and wants) were met and that we felt welcome. The room was nice and the location really convenient. We never got to us the free tuk tuk service because it was out of service or the times didn't work out but that would've been a nice perk. The gym facilities had a lot of options and the pool was nice.
The only quirky thing we ran into was that there wasn't a dedicated switch for the hall and entryway light. To turn those off you also switched off the night stand light AND the switch right next to the bed, so you couldn't charge a phone or have anything plugged in over night.

From the beginning of our stay staff was amazing. The room was perfect and had all that we wanted. Breakfast everyday was our most important meal as was the start of our touring and we always had the perfect amount of options to eat plus always great food. I think this property provides terrific value and I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Bangkok. On the edge of the entertainment district near a MTS station, super convenient. Great staff!! Delicious and reasonable room service, very comfortable bed, great view, big room, beautiful bathroom, nice pool. Room rate was tremendous value for this older 5 star. I paid twice as much at a nearby hotel and it wasn’t nearly as good as the Evergreen Laurel. Thanks for the great stay!

While it says it is a 5 star hotel we were disappointed with the state of our room, and we booked one of the best in the hotel....the carpet in the living room was stained and the hotel restricted the variance for climate control to a low of 23 degrees centigrade. The water pressure in the hot tub was only a dribble even though the sinks and separate shower had plenty of pressure. Even after I asked the maintenance crew to resolve the issue, the water pressure and volume never increased dramatically.
The staff were excellent and very accommodating to any and all requests, and were willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had everything we wanted.
The breakfast was disappointing, asked for eggs one way, received them the opposite....I will chalk that up to a language barrier although all staff spoke English well. I know this is a small item, but these things shouldn't occur at a 5 star hotel in my opinion.
The location was great, and the hotel itself is beautiful.

The Hotel is currently undergoing major renovations...so the pic you show...is now out-of-date. The area no longer exists. Despite this the property is clean and efficient. The staff speak English. They're friendly and helpful. The Breakfast offers plenty of choice, and is excellent. The hotel is well located...away from the hustle of the inner city, but within easy walking distance to major attractions.

From check-in through arranging for taxis to breakfasts, massages, and checkout, our stay was amazing. The only (minor) complaint was the inability to lower air conditioning to a more comfortable range. It was programmed for 23-26 C, but that is definitely a \"first-world\" complaint. The hotel is located in what I describe as the embassy district, close to Saudi Arabia, Mynamar, and Oman embassies, which makes it a very clean, quiet, and safe place to walk from the train station to the hotel at 11:00pm.

Comfortable hotel with great breakfast, good location, just a short walk to the metro, air-conditioning was an bit noisy and leaked through the ceiling at some point but generally a good stay. The lobby is being refurbished, room view is probably better from a corner room.
