No one there to open the door or answering the phone, spent 4 hours calling and leaving messages but no one got back, I now have to wait who knows how long and if , for a refund.
It looks like it never opened after lockdown.

The lady at reception, when she is there was helpful (only saw her twice in our 4 night stay, and both times because we called around to speak to her about checking in - no one was answering the door bell so wasted 10 minutes calling a bunch of numbers - and about check out as had to leave at 6am the next day), but that is the only positive I can give the site besides the good location. Our room had a broken shower (water kept spraying everywhere, mould in shower and the sliding doors were off the rails), air con kept making loud rattling noises (even when on quiet mode, which was useless as didn't really cool us down anyway) so couldn't keep on at night as didn't want to disturb others staying in surrounding rooms - walls are very thin - and bed was broken in parts and super uncomfortable, so much so that my husband did his back from sleeping so badly. Wi-fi was also very up and down. Lift was tiny and didn't hold alot of weight - could hold two suitcases and one person and thats it. On the day of leaving, lift wouldn't even go down so had to haul large suitcases down all the flights of stairs. Furthermore, it's a fair hike from Roma Termini if walking, it's up and down ALOT of hills. This place is also located up a hill so be prepared for that. I don't know if we just got unlucky with the room but it was not what I was expecting and cannot recommend due to the state of ours.

The location is really good. The lady in charge is very friendly and helpful.
The pillows were too thin, the shower place was filling with water. We had to take pauses during the shower to let the water go.

The property is in a good location and that is about.

The room we stayed had a private bathroom joined to the room, the shower was mouldy, the shower was falling off the wall. Only way to shower was to hold the shower hose in your hand. The shower door also came off in my hand one day. Shocking bathroom.

The walls were all dirty with marks, paint coming off the wall where the beds have been scraped along it.

The room had no sound proofing at all, we could hear everything e.g people having showers, going to the toilet, coming in and out the front door.

The air con was terrible, if you had it on quiet mode the air would not cool you down, having it actually pumping out air made it so noisy we couldn't sleep.

It is up a hill, so be warned and you will know which place it is because you have to squeeze past 3 bins to get through the first door.

Lastly, the 40 euro fee for checking in after 8pm is a joke, especially when the front desk is open till 11pm. Checking in is part of the hotel process and should not be aloud to be charged. Good thing we paid the 40 euro fee as some people had there card charged the 40 euros without them knowing and when they disagreed they got kicked out at 10.30pm.

Big mistake

The pictures here are very confusing . Although it was our mistake , it's wrong to put picture of bathroom with the information about the room so people can think they have private bathroom and not shared one.
We were asked to pay the local taxes for one night although we didn't sleep there and left to another hotel and in front the the hotel there was renovation.

When booking this place, it clearly says there will be reception from 0800-late at night (?2300). But we’ve only been able to see her 2 times during our 4 nights stay. During our check in & once @ around 10-11 in the morning. Both times she just disappeared within minutes. We normally get back by 6pm & could never find her. She didn’t even leave us a contact number. Tried to contact her via Expedia, with no response at all. Through our 4 nights stay, bed sheets were not changed at all, although it’s stated on their policy that all linens will be changed every 3 days. Soap in the bathroom wash empty, instead of refill the bottle, they simply aid more water into it. We had to stay in until after 10 in the morning to see her, just to inform her the soap needs refill.

Awesome location

Keep a close look out for the plaque at the front door... easily missed. The accommodation was spacious enough for 4 travellers. Breakfast was a pastry per person but enough to get the day started. Only a 5-7minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The host was really kind and helpful!

Not what we were expecting!!!!!

This hotel want not what we were expecting, it was listed as a townhouse but in fact it's a flat with multiple rooms in a townhouse. The actual space where one is staying is not a townhouse. It's very cramped.

It also lists air conditioned rooms, but the AC is absolutely horrible. Had to sleep with windows open all 6 nights and all we could hear were the neighbors talking, dogs barking and birds chirping.

The terrace is for all the guests and it is one again a very cramped space. The breakfast was cold.

The bathroom gets drenched when one showers because the shower is missing half of the sliding glass. It only covers half of the shower. The floor towel gets wet after just one use and they only change towels every 3 days.

Since it is not a hotel, there is no assistance before and after certain hours. Therefore, if you need extra items, such as toilet paper etc....you can't ask for any.

The only plus of this stay was that it was close to the metro and Trevi Fountain but that's IT!

Maria was fantastic! She was welcoming and oh so helpful. She recommended some great places to dine and gave great directions. The hotel was very convenient to the metro, buses, taxis and near many attractions by foot (i.e., Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Narvonna and don't miss the hidden gem just around the corner...the crypt at \"Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini\" (walk out of hotel and go downhill to 1st intersection and turn left. You will see the church straight ahead.) Air conditioning was cold, breakfast was a good \"Italian\" breakfast of danishes and coffee, and hotel has a lift. Only slight drawback is that you have to walk up a bit of an incline to reach the hotel from Piazza Barberini, but we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Right in the heart of Rome

we had a great time in the beautiful country of Rome,Italy. Maria made it easier and less stressful for us to find our ways in different tourist spot, casa barberini is a very good location as it was in the heart of the city of Rome, My family loved the rainfall shower room too, Maria is very knowledgable in giving us tips and advised, her helped really made a difference in our stay, we enjoyed the beautiful city of Rome, thank you so much and I will recommend the casa barberini.

Nice hotel close to all major Roman sites

The hotel was close within walking distance to all major tourist sites. There is a metro station a block away too for added convenience. I stayed here with my father for a 4 day Roman adventure and Gabriela and Maria were terrific hosts. They were attentive and offered lots of useful tips to help get around. Don't let the shared bathroom scare you like it did to me initially. The bathroom was clean and available when I needed to use it without any timing conflicts with the other guests. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Had a good trip, got what we paid for which was a room with a bed and air con, which was a blessing in the heat. Didn't know about the shared bathroom until after I had booked and from reading other reviews, not any problems with it. Bed was uncomfortable.

Great overall experience. Maria was super helpful in helping us weed through where to go, what to see and where to eat. Service was great. Only minor complaints are a the terrace is too small for a 5 room B+B (it's where eat) and there was no sign on the outside of the building which made it difficult to find.

Nice no frills place

Casa Barberini is a nice place off the beaten path. Its located on a side street but we literally walked right pass it initially. Once we found it we were ok. They have an extremely tiny elevator so if you have a lot of luggage good luck. You will need to make two trips at least and I have to admit the elevator made me scared once or twice. The room is very large and has a wall separating the beds so you have no issues with space. The bathroom was great although I wish the towels supplied had been of better quality. The owners (managers) were super nice and extremely helpful. I would recommend this place to a couple not trying to spend a lot of money and who are not looking for five star treatment. Overall I have zero complaints.

Complaint and request for refund

Totally disgusted. The first thing we noticed on entering this building were three large bins for waste. This does not make you feel welcome. On reaching the place we were welcomed by a girl called Maria who said that we were early. This was approximately 1230. She asked us to wait on the terrace which is nothing but a dirty and filty corridor overlooking a very dirty yard. Right on the step we noticed a broom and a green dust pan with broken glass. We handed her the passports as requested and noticed that the kitchen is nothing but a tiny alcove with a sink full of dirty cups. On entering the room we discovered that the wardrobe was just an open cup board with some hangers, and just one chair. As for breakfast she explained that it consisted soley of a coffee and one croissant. We protested with the lady that this was not up to scatch but the only thing she said is ‘You have already paid and raise your protest with Hotels.com.’ We informed her that we were going out to seek a decent hotel but to add insult to injury she replied that we had to pay the 8 euro daily charge each as she had already registered us. We informed her that we were not paying for that because we were not going to sleep there and that according to the law you pay this additional tax if you sleep there. Infact we did not pay this and moved to a nearby hotel which has cost us nearly the same price we paid you in January in advance. Hence We ask you to re-inburse the money we paid for Case

PROS: - staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable
- good central location close to barberini metro stop
- nice breakfast which can be eaten on outside balcony or inside. Breakfast includes croissant, yougurt, juice
- clean room. Cleaned every 3 days.
- hairdryer available
- has radiator in room
- towels supplied

CONS:
- did not realise it was a shared bathroom when booking with expedia. Only found out after i had booked. But it was only shared with 1 other room. With booking.com i believe its more transparent.
- better instructions on where in the building casa barberini is located would have avoided confusion. You get off on the 3rd floor from the lift and go down the stairs.
- thin walls. Can hear other people.

Great clean and airy room with a nice bed, tv etc
Location is also ideal with a metro right around the corner but because the hotel is so central we walked everywhere we went. Plus the streets is very quiet and cosy so we always had a restful night's sleep.
Only downside was the shared bathroom which was not clear from the booking, but that said, it was super clean, very modern and we were barely bothered by the others using the bathroom so really a good experience.

Great location close to many 'attractions' with easy access to bus/metro. The entrance is deceiving. Appears as older residencial (no sign of any type) but once you come inside \"Casa Barberini\" on 2nd floor it is immacculate. Bathroom (we shared) was sparking clean. Breakfast was croissant pastries and yoghurt and coffee/cappucino/espesso/juice on a cute little terrace. Staff is very nice and helpful. Area felt safe. Highly recommend if budget conscious. Has everything you need.

Had trouble contacting the number from the email to let them know our arrival time and that we wanted a taxi pick up from FCO. That # isn't always manned! After that frustration and finally connecting with them, wonderful driver at airport waited for us to arrive (one hour!), reception from manager, Andreea, was lovely, and the unit well appointed and clean. It's not spacious, but adequate. Andreea made individual coffees for breakfast, with danish, yogurt, and juice. Great location for walking Rome. Great to have air-conditioning in August, and wi-fi worked pretty well.

Amazing price for a great stay

Even before our stay I was emailed by the house to give arrival times to know that we were set. I mentioned we were arriving much earlier than the check-in time and I was informed we could drop off our bags. This was a great relief because we were able to begin exploring Rome without having to carry our bags in the hot sun. The email also offered great information on how to get there by using public transportation. We arrived without troubles! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the wonderful lady of the house. After dropping off our bags she explained everything and even gave us extensive tips on where to go, where to eat, what to avoid, and so on along with a map! Without her guidance we would've either used up much of our time to plan our sightseeing or paid some tour guide an insane amount of money. The room itself was very spacious and clean! The floors were beautiful and everything seemed renovated. Our room had a shared bathroom but to my surprise this was not a problem at all. The bathroom was spotless. I do recommend bringing sandals and a robe or something easily dawned to walk back to your room. The house was a 2 min walk to the metro and only a 10 min walk to the Trevi Fountain! The Barberini stop was only 2 stops away from the main Termini Station. There are plenty of restaurants and shops surrounding the area. This was a perfect location! I definitely plan on staying here again.

The hotel is located on a small side street off a plaza. Very unassuming location.
The room was surprisingly large and modern. Very clean. Much better than I expected. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful and accommodating.
Location was very close to restaurants and public transportation. I was able to walk to many places, but that's because I didn't feel like taking a taxi or riding the bus/subway. But that doesn't mean it was particularly close to everything.
Overall, this hotel is well worth the price. Book ahead because there are very few rooms.

Terrific Value & Service & Great Rome Location!

We really enjoyed staying at Casa Barberini. The location is fantastic. About 1.5 blocks from the Metropolitana (subway) stop & Fontana di Tritone. Short walk to Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain), and the Spanish Steps. Great area for food, bars, music, shopping, plus easy access to everywhere else in Rome. Our hostess, Gabriela, is as helpful, charming and gracious, as she is beautiful. She provided typical Italian breakfasts with flavorful croissants, delicious yogurt and killer cappuccino. Gabriela allowed me to butcher the Italian language, without laughing too hard (BTW, her English is impeccable). Our accommodations were comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a private bath, which is a must for us. She recommended and incredible osteria (restaurant), too. My wife and I agree ... We would definitely stay there again. Gracie Tante, Gabriela!

We stayed in the room with the private bathroom. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable and the B&B was on a quiet street. Gabriella was a great host who gave great advice on what to do when in Rome. She also served a great tasty breakfast in the room with a delicious cappucino. The only slightly negative aspect was that the walls in the room were not that thick and we could hear other guests occasionally. For the price and location in Rome, this was perfect. There is nice small but cheap grocery store right beside it and also bargain fresh sandwich bar just around the corner. Definitely would stay there again.

My friend and I stayed here quite recently. We found it easy to navigate from the airport to the Metro station. We did find it tricky to find our way from the Metro station to the hotel however some friendly locals showed us where to go, turns out the hotel was only a minute away! Being so close to the Metro was a huge advantage as that is the main mode of transport to reach tourist attractions such as the Collosseum and the Vatican. Gabriella, who runs the hotel is lovely, so incredibly helpful and gave us lots of tips regarding good restaurants and how to get to different tourist attractions. She also provided us with a lovely breakfast each morning. The rooms were incredibly clean and although we shared a bathroom with two other rooms, it was quite manageable. The Wifi was excellent also. If you're in Rome for a couple of days and want somewhere that's central, then this is the perfect place!

Lovey hotel with great staff, good location

The hotel is small but perfect if you are on a budget, centrally located, just one block from one of the important squares of Rome and only 15 min walking to the fontana de Trevi, the owner is extremely nice and helpful, she assisted us with all our doubts about the city and gave us excellent recommendations to make the most of our visit to Rome.

Excellent service provided by Gabriela, great location near the Spanish steps and we walked everywhere to the Pantheon, colosseum and Vatican. We shared a bathroom with another room which wasnt a problem at all. Breakfast is very simple with a yoghurt and pastry, the Italian way. We took a shuttle from the airport and dropped us off at the door of the b&b. Overall good value for a budget accommodation, and everything you need if you are not going to be stuck in your room making the most of one of the best cities in world!

Extra charge for arriving after midnight - Really?

Good, clean room. Location was not very far from Spanish Steps, Colosseum and other attractions.
But no one told us about the extra charge they were going to charge for us arriving after midnight. Charged us extra 40Euros as we arrived after midnight. That was un acceptable as this was not mentioned in the booking details or else i would not have chosen this location as i knew my flight was arriving close to midnight.

Amazing value- good clean room, modern and clean bathroom, linen, shampoo, soap, hairdryer etc provided. Walls between rooms were a little thin so you could hear footsteps etc a little bit but was not a problem at all. delicious pastries and coffee and juice for breakfast, staff very helpful and friendly and gave good advice when asked, free maps- useful considering we lost loads! Great location- a very short walk to all the sites, we walked everywhere but the hotel is also very close to the metro station. Such good value considering breakfast was included, the room was a little cramped but there was three of us staying in it and the city tax wasn't included in the price but was 3.50 euros each per night so we were still very happy with the cost given all the positives so would definately stay there again!

When I arrived at the hostel, I contacted me because I didn't have a host. The host came to the hostel in an hour and a half and sat in front of the house for an hour and a half before checking in. It's ridiculous, absurd, and I've traveled all over the world. I haven't seen a host at a hostel for 3 days and 2 nights. I spoke with guests from other European countries, who were able to check in after waiting 30-40 minutes. In remote countries, this property is only recommended for travelers who can wait more than an hour for an unintentional host who travels by air, train or bus for a long time.

Ik dacht het een hotel was. Het was erg moeilijk te vinden. Het was in een soort portiek woning. Daarin hebben ze een etage gekocht. Met 8 kamers.. Ik moest een douche en wc delen met een andere bewoner. Elke dag was er wel een ander bewoner die een kamer ging huren. De ene bewoner was stil en de andere maakte wat meer lawaai. De kamers waren simpel maar wel netjes. De douche kop was kapot. Er kwam haast geen straal water uit. De \"receptie\"was vriendelijk. Ik zal het alleen aanraden voor backpackers. Afz Hr M Bos

부자되고싶다

호스트가 굉장히 친절하고 whatsapp으로 소통하여 편리했음. 로마 숙박치곤 가성비가 좋았으나 경제적 여유가 된다면 추천하고 싶지 않음. 방음이 전혀 안되고 화장실을 매번 열쇠로 잠궈야함;; 수압이 너무 낮아서 시냇물마냥 졸졸 나옴. 엘레베이터는 이세상 엘레베이터가 아님. 위치는 꽤 편리했음. 2분거리 음식점 Fraschetteria의 토마토가지요리(?)가 매우매우 신선하고 맛있음.

Fantastiskt läge! nära till allt, rent och fräscht i både badrum och sovrum. Kvinnan som ägde hotellet var också mycket trevlig och hjälpsam både när det handlade om rum men även när det kom till vad man skulle se etc. Något lyhört rummen emellan men inget som vi störde oss på, bara en liten fyi. Ska jag tillbaka till Rom hade jag verkligen bokat detta igen

Fermata metro Barberini chiusa da 5 mesi.
Camera piccola, che dà su terrazzo comune. Chiusura finestra bagno, rotta. Coperta letto estiva, insufficiente, visto il brutto tempo.
Stabile situato in strada in salita, b&b situato al 3° piano. Nessuna vista confortevole. Ascensore max 2 persone o 1 persona grossa.

Me gustó la ubicación.
No me gustaron los ruidos, las voces, era imposible descansar, las paredes son de papel. Ambas noches se escuchaban voces del personal de la casa a las 5 de la mañana. La habitación no era la de la foto. El baño compartido se limpiaba una vez por día , muy poco para 4 personas

Great location

Our stay in Casa Barberini was fantastic. The room was spacious, very clean and and warm for winter.
Is near from many attractions, so you can go on foot and the metro is about 3 minutes.
Also the service was helpful. Enjoy Italy!

מתאים לחסכנים עם ציפיות נמוכות שרוצים מיקום מרכזי

מדובר בחדר בתוך דירה שהוסבה למספר חדרי השכרה, תחזוקה ברמה ירודה, זמינות מעטה מאוד לעזרה לקח לנו 3 ימים לקבל שמיכה (לא היתה בחדר שמיכה כלל בדצמבר), מחליפים מגבות אחת לשלושה ימי (מסתבר שזה מקובל במקומות מעין אלה), ידית דלת החדר התפרקה, הברז במקלחת מתפורר.
מריה אותה פגשנו פעם אחת בשל שעות נוכחות מאוד מצומצמות שלה, היתה מאוד ידידותית והציעה עזרה עם מסלולים והמלצות, בכניסה ממוקמת בסימטה חשוכה אבל מיקום מאוד מרכזי ונוח בעיר.

Zentrales Zimmer mit gutem Service

Gerne wieder aber erst, wenn die Baustelle gegenüber beendet ist. Zimmer waren ok, Wände sind sehr dünn. Sauberkeit war in Ordnung, nur im Gang zwischen Bett und Fenster wurde leider bei uns nie gereinigt. Sehr toller und netter Service, die Dame hat uns immer tolle Tips gegeben. Das einzigste was nicht funktioniert hat, war unsere Taxibestellung am Abreisetag. Nach 20 Minuten warten haben wir uns dann selbst gekümmert.

Nettes Casa zentral gelegen

Insgesamt hat uns Casa Barberini gut gefallen. Das Zimmer war einfach, aber ausreichend. Es war stets sauber. Der Service vor Ort war super. Sie hat uns viele Tipps gegeben. Frühstück typisch italienisch... Leider war gegenüber eine Baustelle, die dazu geführt hat, dass es bereits früh morgens relativ laut war.
Aufgrund einer Flugverspätung kamen wir leider etwas später als geplant dort an. Das haben wir sofort mitgeteilt. Leider war die \"Rezeption\" nur bis 23 Uhr besetzt. Wir waren 8 Min. später da. Es war geschlossen. Es musste jemand vorbeikommen. Deshalb wurden uns 40 Euro in Rechnung gestellt. Das war unverhältnissmäßig und kein guter Service!

Hotel muito bem localizado, perto de várias atrações turísticas e da estação de metrô Barberini. Ótimas acomodações e equipe muito atenciosa. O único problema é que a identificação do hotel é um tanto quanto difícil se você chegar a noite.

Ho alloggiato con cinque amiche per una notte nella camera famigliare, ci siamo trovate davvero bene: la signora della reception è stata molto gentile e disponibile e ci ha fatto trovare una camera pulita e fresca( c'è l'aria condizionata). I letti sono comodi e l'arredamento è molto gradevole. Ci hanno servito la colazione sul piccolo terrazzino. Nel complesso davvero una piacevole sorpresa.
