Absolutely fantastic half term family holiday!

We returned to The Esplanade Hotel again and wow it's still so wonderful, perched on the golden sands of Fistral, the beach certainly is your playground!

From the moment we arrived to when we sadly had to leave everything was perfect - spotlessly clean throughout, great swimming pool, delicious food to include a highly recommended afternoon tea, wonderfully furnished bedrooms with beautiful sea views and the highlight being outstanding service from each and every member of staff!

Every aspect of this hotel is geared up for the family with great children's entertainment every day.

The manager Claudia certainly knows how to run a hotel with her brilliant team, thank you! Her attention to detail is marvellous, it's the little touches!

We will be back, again!

Wouldn't stay there again. Not worth it. Would pay a bit more and stay somewhere else. When checking in the receptionist didn't know anything. Every question I asked she seemed to want to answer something different - not actually answering the question. Not the first person you want to see when you first come to a place. Was she on work experience or something? Anyway the supervisor who was there the next day was excellent.

Nicely positioned hotel for what we needed. Comfortable room though a little warm at night as the supplied fan wasn't up to the job. All staff very accommodating. The pool was a little cool for us. Loveley seating in the reception area watching Fistral beach .Overall a nice hotel and the 2nd visit for us .
Parking difficult as the whole road was full due to half term.

We emailed hotel and requested an accessible bathroom with shower due to husbands spinal surgery and was given an inaccessible bathroom. He could not get in the bathroom at all due to its small size. WE had to use communal shower in pool area.
Room was cleaned daily.
Reception staff and restaurant/bar staff were all fantastic.
Hotel location is great for beach views.

Lack of parking for blue badge holders

Not disability friendly no priority parking for blue badge holders rang beforehand to book a parking spot was told I couldn’t
Although staff did eventually find a parking spot I found the parking experience distressing
There was a parking space for disabled not in a suitable place as it blocked the entrance and space was limited
I did complain to hotel but there was no commitment to improving things

Beautiful location, friendly staff who are trying their best to help, the room was clean, and the food was nice.
Things that need improvement: the lift is very small, jerky and making sounds that made us feel that it might has got stuck every time we used it, so we avoided it despite the fact that we had a 70+ years old person who does struggle with stairs. This is the only hotel we came across with in the last few years which doesn't have USB outlets and air conditioners. In a way it was our fault for bringing just the leads with us. Luckily, the receptionist was able to find a plug with USB, which we could borrow. The main discomfort was the absence of the air conditioner. The weather was quite hot, so we could really feel it. We did open the window, but not too wide as it was not very straight, so I was worried it will break if I try to open it any wider. Our room looked at the back, so there wasn't much breeze coming in. It did not help that when we tried to use the shower for the first time, only boiling hot water was running no matter what we did. It turned the whole room into a sauna until a security guy got it sorted. It was already evening, and he happened to be around the reception, and was very helpful. Overall, I think it's a very good hotel in a stunning location, and nice staff. If you use it in a cool weather, have your USB charger with a plug, and not too worried about the lifts, you will have a wonderful time. We just seem to be a bit unlucky this time.

My daughters and I stayed in early Aug.

The hotel is very nice, the rooms are comfortable and the indoor pool is lovely.

You’re opposite Fistral Beach, the surf hire shop next door is ideal.

Parking is not great, make sure you pre-book or you’re in trouble!

The food at Breakfast is Ok but nothing special.

The staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly and accommodating. We’d definitely go back, but only if the parking was pre-booked.

Property was lovely. Room was a really nice size however you could hear footsteps from the room above and the bunk beds were creaky. Disturbed our sleep. The carpet outside our room was filthy and had an odour. The hotel had a lot of different activities and a lovely pool. Did find some of the staff miserable but there breakfast staff were friendly. The location was lovely right opposite the beach with great views.

I had an immunocompromised Toddler with me so we are particular about these things and safety.

Honestly the key system for reserved parking is a joke we were expecting a specific spot but it's open to park in any spot after unlocking the bar.

Not as good as our first trip.
Bolts were loose in kids bunk beds. Shower needed repair.
Staff were helpfull to resolve, but both issues should not have happened.
2 meals were very good, but the steak was poorly done, asked for medium and got rare.
Location is great though, and facilities are good overall.
We may return for a 3rd mini break, unsure

Hotel was beautiful and clean. All the staff where very friendly, food was great with a great view of the beach. Only down side was the temperature of the room, we had a none sea view room (119) and it was really hot in the middle of the night. We had the door and window wide open with a fan on, both my kids where very sweaty and I had to get up twice to go stand outside in the middle of the night.

Perfect location for Fistral Beach and surfing. Our family room was spacious with a terrace with a sea view which was lovely. The reception staff were faultless providing all the information you need about checking in and dealt with every question we had flawlessly. The lobby area is lovely to relax in and have a well-earned rest after a day out. The restaurant serves good food and has a good range of breakfast options.. and that leads me onto the restaurant team. Halo and his team are wonderful. Very attentive, very funny, very helpful - they turned a potentially stressful day due to an injury into a memorable one. Absolutely recommend the hotel to equally adults or families alike. We will be returning!

Our room could have been bigger, not enough room for our clothes and wet beach towels to dry.

Parking was the main issue, paid for two nights parking but was told someone else took so unable to provide any solution.

The Restaurant staff in the evening acted as if ours and other customers presence was an inconvenience. It took 10 minutes to be seated in a half empty room, then a further 10 minutes before being asked for drinks which we were never given a drinks menu. A further 10 minutes after that we were then asked for drinks again and we had decided food so ordered food. The food came out in reasonable time but still no drinks for 5 minutes after food had arrived. Food was good but the service ruined the dining experience.

The room we had was fine but the noise outside of the rooms was definitely known. At about 11pm the people staying above arrived back and you could hear them having a shower right above our heads with the water hitting the bottom of the bath. Kids being told off outside our room at 6am trying to open our room door. With the beds not being the comfiest either it was a sleepless night really.

Parking outside is minimal and you have to park out on the road trying to get a space while the general public want the spaces too. Had to wait around 20 minutes for a space to become available.

It’s a shame really because what was supposed to be a relaxing night away was not really that pleasant.

Great hotel for families in Newquay

Hotel is in a great location, the staff at check in were extremely helpful and the facilities are great for families. Lots to do to keep the little ones entertained including the pool, cinema and play areas. Kids were so excited to have their own drinks tray in the room and bathrobes for the pool.
Only one grumble, the breakfast was a fixed price, so not great value if your kids are fussy.
Will most certainly be looking to book another trip here with the family.

This hotel though in a great location in front of the beach but there is no space around as it’s on a main busy street. Parking is a nightmare and got a ticket so please beware.Moreover the staff was bit snobby and didn’t inform that parking spots can be purchased as there were many spots with a pole in the middle and we were uninformed that those were the purchasable spots. And the hotel will not tell you about the parking restrictions really unhelpful.

We came and stayed a couple of weeks ago just the two of us. We then decided it was such a great family hotel, so we rebooked to bring our two children. They had so many lovely Halloween activities for the children!
We visited the pool before we checked out, the only thing I would say is the pool and jacuzzi is in need of a good clean and possible filter change. Everything else I couldn’t fault, the service was amazing and food was great too! We would definitely return and are already thinking of booking for new year.

Prompt and efficient check in. Receptionist needs to show a bit of warmth about her. They take £50 off you by card payment in addition to anything else that youve aid, which I think is cheeky, especially as we incurred no extra charges whilst staying overnight. Room spacious and comfortable but the bed not so. Was like sleeping on the floor. Nice place decent bar area. Limited cramped parking (used the street) on the front. Would stay here again.

On arrival no parking space at all when I ask reception about she literally laugh in my face (she was a supervisor ) and not nice person at all . apart a gentleman on the desk and younger late evening reception the was lovely. Apart of that rather awful . The lady from breakfast absolutely lovely. The breakfast in average unfortunately. What is only good about it is the location the view and extremely clean rooms . And the pool very small, jacuzzi extremely hot with out Remote control. So if you after room with view perfect . Rest of it not so much

The facilities were excellent, the staff were very helpful, kids activity and pool were a hit with children, even the people who were staying at the hotel were very friendly. The breakfast service was exceptional apart from one morning, we was 5 mins late and was told they close for breakfast at 10.30pm and refused us hot breakfast but could help ourselves to some cereal and cold breakfast. Maybe the hotel should refrain from taking booking for 10.30am breakfast.
Claudia (management) was very helpful and always greeted you with a smile. Be careful that your not late checking out because then that smile turns into frustration as you will be threatened with a fine for being late, but she did help us check out quickly by taking our luggages downstairs. Parking spaces are tight for large vehicles. Cinema room had a damp smell and the lift was temperamental at times also had a fishy smell. These are only minor hiccups but that can be fixed easily.
My family had the best time and will always recommend my friends and family to go and stay at the Esplanade. I am already thinking about booking for next year. Thank you all the staff at the esplanade.

Good breakfast started late though at 7:30 onwards overall and enjoyed my stay parking very difficult car park is first come first served about 15 to 20 spaces that includes the ones that you can pay for ahead of time you can park on the main road but where the beach is right next to it most of the time otherwise enjoyed my stay very much but the parking was a big issue for me I did book it ahead of time, but I never really took the part. Wouldn’t park in the in the town, full of drunks after a certain time, not very safe

We really loved how it’s completely set up for children, this definitely took the stress of parenting off us.

Fantastic short stay at this really great Hotel opposite Fistral Beach, convenient location and awesome facilities drew us here and we weren't disappointed. Such a family friendly hotel

What a family friendly hotel. Would definitely recommend to others with young children and so close to the beach too! From soft play, to the cinema, swimming and milk and a biscuit in the evening what more could you ask for. Only thing I would do next time is ask for a room thats not dog friendly. Very clean though and lovely child friendly products in the bath too.

2nd Stay for and this is an absolute gem if you have kids and want a relaxing stay. Clean, friendly and completely focused on kids so it’s absolutely ideal - close to fistral beach and amazingly clean and friendly- we will be back
