We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor but it was very hot as a result of the recent high temperatures. This made sleep difficult until the early hours of the morning when the weather cooled. All the staff we encountered were great - very helpful, pleasant and cheerful. Breakfast was standard but absolutely no complaints. It is a very old property but some way of keeping the upper rooms cooler in high summer temperatures would be a major improvement.. perhaps by increasing the roof insulation

We enjoyed our stay at crown spa hotel and also for the fact that it’s just a stone throw to the beach. The room was clean and serviced every morning, staff were really approachable and helpful whenever we needed support. We used the pool and the site was clean as well. I would definitely recommend.

The sea room was good, although the seagull trying to come in via the open window was surprising. On the whole the hotel was very good. In my opinion it was let down in two areas. Firstly the exterior looks tired especially from the back of the property, you could sit in the breakfast room and look at the rear through a roof window. I also thought that the decor of the breakfast area wasn’t in par with the rest of the hotel. The breakfasts were good , plenty of on choice, the only other meal we ate in the hotel was afternoon tea, unfortunately we didn’t consider it as good of value , as served from other hotels , where we eaten in the past.The choice of available lager in the bar was disappointing, only Carlsberg and San Miguel on draught.
Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Lovely room, immaculately clean and comfortable.
The staff are terrific, super helpful and welcoming.
I need to give a special mention to the waiter in the hotel's Taste restaurant. Miguel was brilliant. As well as being an accomplished waiter, he was so friendly and made our dining experience more than just a dinner out. His caring, attentive nature deserves commendation.

Gina on the front desk was also wonderful. From arrival to departure she was friendly and helpful. Again, excellent customer service .

Tha spa area was mucky and run down. We booked for the spa but spent less than ten minutes in it. The carpets in the corridors were filthy. The room had a built in telly in the bath but it didn’t work, the sound system had no way of connecting to it. Bed was comfy. The hotel isn’t a 4 star, a bit of maintenance and a deep clean would bring it back to 4

We arrived on the 2nd of May 26 on arrival we went to reception to check in and it was very welcoming we was given our room numbers and which way to go to find them . We arrived by motorcycle and asked where to park we was told the car park was at the back of the hotel , our parking was free but if you arrive by car there is a charge . When we got to our room on the 5th floor we was pleasantly surprised at how big the room was , the bed was very comfortable plenty of storage room . We was taking a bath/ shower and was amazed ate the television over the bath it’s nice to lie in a bath and watch television. We had breakfast which was okay but thought it was a little expensive. We enjoyed our stay for the two nights with food out in town and drinks the bar in the hotel was great and all staff very polite.

The nightly rate is reasonable but as they say you get what you pay for. The hotel in areas looks very tired. We had French windows but these were fastened shut- I guess because the little wood balcony wasn’t safe. The water was scalding hot. Some of the light bulbs were out. It was clean though. The spa is a good addition with its lovely Victorian tiles.
The breakfast is comprehensive- cooked, continental but a bit bland.
This was our third time at the Crown Spa and each time our room seems progressively worse/ tired in appearance.
The location is great for getting to the beach and a short walk to the centre.
It is obviously popular- especially with pensioners and coach trips.
If you know you are not getting ‘luxury’ and want to use the spa facilities The Crown Spa is decent value.

Since then we noticed a big change in the hotel, especially the decoration and prices in the bar. Had a latte and half a pint of beer, cost £9.00 in cash!!!!! Was it pocketed or was I charged for one pint instead of half a pint?

Unfortunately there was a problem with firsty no hot water on the first morning and then water was a dribble from the taps and shower on the second morning recessed it was just an issue on the 5th floor.
Window in the room did not lock so kept blowing open in the wind all night.

Lack of kitchen facilities on 23rd March was disappointing but managed by customer facing staff reasonably well. The hotel facilities are looking tired (eg fireplace in lounge covered in dust and fluff). Opportunities missed to champion Yorkshire produce (food, drink, souvenirs, Newspapers etc) at what could be Yorkshire Coasts premier hotel. Our first return visit since Covid and somewhat disappointed. Would be happy to speak with Management if they are interested in Customer feedback.

Only downer was that the room was cold as apparently the boiler had tripped yet the corridors were very warm. Nonetheless the heating was sorted after returuning from an evening out. Overall a pleasant comfortable stay.

We have stayed at the crown spa before and love the location. We had a sea view room which was a generous size with great view.
There were a few disappointments this time though.
The main one being that the bathroom had a smell to it (possibly coming from the drains) and if the door was left open the room its self smelt.
Also, on arrival there were a few bits of rubbish on the floor. A plastic rose petal and a chocolate wrapper. Other than this though the room was clean.
We informed reception about the smell in the bathroom on departure so hopefully this can be resolved for the next guests.
Although it was disappointing this time it would not put me off booking again.

116room has lovely new decor but 114 looks tired with old traditional furniture in it which should be got rid of as it brings the whole feel of the room down and with the size of the room I think a bigger bed would make a good statement in there .. breakfast was ok but more seeds and fruit would be nice .

To whom this may concern,

I am writing to let you know of my experience whilst staying at your hotel and my concerns.

I booked a twin room and on entering the room the bed was a double which I had to go to reception and advise that this had not been done . The receptionist said she would get this sorted . Sometime later a young man came from the restaurant to make the bed up and he did say that the hotel is short staffed. This I thought was bad communication from the staff that the bed wasn't made up which I found it to be an inconvenience to myself and having to interrupt a member of staff in the restaurant.

The television was absolutely awful to watch as the signal was dreadful and I could see that people had been trying to move the aerial because of the marks on the wall .

Room service was absolutely terrible as I had to call down to get someone up to sort my room . The lady that arrived said she was running behind as she had 3 floors to do surely this is a staffing problem yet again .

Wanted to order cocktails on New Year's Eve however the girl behind the bar said the person that does them isn't in and she said that she didn't know how to do them nor the other people. It was New Year's Eve I couldn't believe that they were no staff member to attend to this . Yet again a staff problem.

The worst part of my stay was parking my car . I had paid for reserved parking. I had gone out on New Year's Eve and on my return to the car park all the spaces had been taken .

The hotel was nice, but needs improving in some areas. The room had nice fittings, but the bathroom window needed replacing.

The sauna and steam room area has a very \"seedy\" feeling, with almost no lighting meaning you risk sitting on someone. The sound of passionate kissing in the darkness when you're trying to relax is quite off-putting too! The pool was quite cold, and the hot-tub wasn't as hot as you'd expect.

The gym is very well equipped, although quite confusing due to how it's split across many rooms in the basement.

The shower needed urgent attention, going from freezing to burning your skin with a slight movement of the tap, it was impossible to get it to a comfortable temperature.

The buffet breakfast was well stocked, but a fairly poor quality.

As someone sensitive to caffeine, I get annoyed when I get directed to the cheap packets of instant next to the fancy bean to cup coffee machines in the breakfast area. I raised this feedback with reception who showed no interest whatsoever.

Room was very neglected, both room & bathroom windows wouldn't fully shut so constant noise & cold draughty room, bathroom door didn't fully close so not much privacy, we booked purely for the spa facilities as my partner is disabled so this would have been ideal but when we checked in we were told the spa facilities weren't available until the 2nd of Jan , we were very disappointed by this & weren't even in a position to cancel our stay because we would have lost our full payments, we did get complimentary breakfasts but the food was so greasy & bacon was so fatty , over cooked infact it was that bad its debatable if it was fit for human consumption, the prices they charged us i think it was a very poor situation, we complained on our way out to reception but weve not had any communication from the management, on a plus the staff tried their best.

Exceptionally poor stay at a place we’d stayed at several times before. The room was tired to the point it shouldn’t even be given to guests in its current state. Upon attempting to check in there were two staff members talking amongst themselves meaning we were stood with heavy bags for several minutes until they wrapped up their conversation. When discussing parking the receptionist didn’t know whether there would be an attendant checking or not so I decided to be safe and immediately put the disc in the car. The parking disc used to be adequate but you now also need to pay £5 for two days parking however it didn’t even cover 48 hours. Got to the room and upon opening the drawers there was a half eaten pizza in one of them. I went down to reception to give them the food remnants and inform them of this and was told sorry housekeeping must have missed it. I was really surprised considering it was the same person we had just checked in with 5 minutes previously did not offer any kind of gesture of apology. There were brown stains on the ceiling from previous leakage, the wallpaper was peeling, the tv did not work on several channels and the room above us were talking at such a volume it was practically shouting until gone midnight. The extractor fan in the bathroom was thick with dust and when wiping up water from the bathroom floor the towel turned brown.

We booked this hotel for the pool it was closed because it was New Year’s Day . The hot chocolate was cold from the bar will not be staying again. We never even got a free drink for the pool closed. Our room was very tired and shabby with efforts made to modernise but not done sympathetically with the beautiful building. The bed didn’t fit the space of the headboard and had a gap between it and the wall that the pillows drop down. Also 2 beds joined together which is uncomfortable with a ridge down the middle, a straight forward double bed would solve all of those issues.
Our room was directly above the lobby and unfortunately we were woken before 6am both mornings by the staff moving furniture and having loud conversations.
Breakfast was poor quality with cheap cash and carry eggs, bread, juice and sausage, we didn’t feel it was value for money.
The staff were very friendly and the spa made up for the overall tiredness of the decor but it would be nice to see a modern but traditional refurbishment of the hotel annd perhaps more local sourcing of produce and we would happily return.

Spa facilities were complimentary which was good and as it should be. Comprised two sauna. One steam room, one ice room, swimming pool, lots of gym kit.
Breakfast was buffet style with a good full English and other options.

Filthy cutlery was first alert then when we asked for cocktails said they didn’t have any pineapple juice or many cocktail ingredients so we gave food a miss. Window locks missing. Curtains fell off. The variety of food at breakfast was excellent but the temperatures of the buffet breakfast was not so good, cold eggs, mushrooms and hash browns. V.pleased with the room size/clean etc. The spa facilities were v.good although some areas are looking a little tired and in need of a spruce up. All the staff were v.nice and v.helpful. The toilets on the ground floor behind reception had dirty floors and dirty tiled walls.

The check-in was fine at first. Room was nice. The problems started in the morning waiting for the shower to warm up, finally gave up and settled for a cold shower. We went to reception to report the problem only to find out the newt there was a problem as the boiler for the 5th had broken down earlier in the week \" No mention of this at check-in \" We asked if it was being repaired and was told not, asked what the alternatives were and basically told that nothing could be done.

Lack of choice at the bar (2 white wines).
Beautiful room but no need for the multi coloured LED lighting, made it feel like an Indian restaurant.

We had a lovely large room with a sea view. The location and views are wonderful. We have visted this hotel several times over many years and were sad to see the deterioration in the dining areas. We paid for breakfast for 2 days but cut our losses and went elsewhere the 2nd day. The breakfast area is like a service station cafe. This is not 4 star. Luke warm buffet food, tea in a mug from a machine and a horrible room. Dining in the evening we had a reasonable meal but no sauvignon blanc and we were told the only option had been chardonnay for some time due to supplier failure. Sad to see the decline in a wonderful hotel. We hope some investment and refurbishment is upcoming. On a positive the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Breakfast buffet food was not particularly hot. I suspect the food server heater was inadequate. Evening meal was excellent, again lovely staff and very reasonable prices. The pool and spa is really superb and well worth using. It's the biggest jacuzzi we've ever seen! Overall a very pleasurable stay.
