The room was very out dated and dirty. The sheets had hair on them. There was no shower only a tub but there was no hot water anyways. There was no heat. Someone was singing or praying very loud at about 11 oclock at night. No elevator and we wrre on the 3rd floor. Awful!!!!!

The room was very clean and comfortable. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beautiful views in the restaurant of the Loch. All the employees are very kind, warm and welcoming. We stayed an extra day because we enjoyed our stay so much. If we ever come back to Scotland, we will stay at the Lodge on the Loch. Cheers.

So… we ended up here because a storm closed the hotel where we had reservations. this property has a lot of potential and it is working toward being a solid hotel. Our group had 3 rooms and they were all extremely different. Room number 2 was very nice and I would give it 5 stars for decor, cleanliness, and atmosphere. Room 3 was a step down - the difference was the decor. Room 11 was bad - like pre-renovation. Furniture, bathroom fixtures, carpet, everything needed to be replaced - the bathroom was barely functional and it was so rundown that it felt unclean. I spoke with the “front desk” and it sounds like the hotel was recently purchased and they are starting renovations.

Staff was polite. The dinner was very expensive and did not live up to expectations. Dinner service was not attentive. No mixed drinks available. Very limited whisky offerings.
The room was ok, but there was no way to shut off the bathroom fan, so it was going all night. The chairs in the room are very well worn and uncomfortable.
On our second day, a storm came through and no power and hot water was available for over 14 hours. The front desk was not going to refund the last night as we were not going to stay without heat, lights, hot water or restaurant available( there wasn’t anywhere else to eat and no fridge in the room). My husband had quite the conversation with them before they relented and refunded the last night.

Rundown

Room was very cold you could feel air blowing in around windows. Bathroom was so small nowhere to sit anything. Not very sound proof. Carpet needs a good cleaning. Bed was comfy and we asked for an extra pillow and they did bring us two. Very rundown building and area outside not the cleanest. Had to carry luggage up about 40steps

Worst bedroom that I have ever stayed in.

Possibly the worst hotel room that I have ever stayed in. Broken window with rain coming in. The noise from the rain was so loud that I had to have the radio on all night. The wall paper is peeling off the walls and the room smells damp. There was no plug for the sink and the cold water tap was not fixed to the basin. Just horrible and depressing. The pictures used on Hotels.com are misleading. Do not stay at this hotel.

The view of the loch is lovely but the room was terrible. I booked this place based on a few reviews and wish I hadn’t. It was not worth the money at all. The bathroom door didn’t close all the way, we couldn’t drain the bathtub, the mattresses are OLD, you could feel springs in them and everything was dingy. Would not recommend this place at all. We did not eat there so can’t rate the quality of that.

This property was not as described. Far from luxury rooms. Carpets were dirty, holes in bathroom walls, sink tap broken, not all lights were working in the bathroom, tv didn’t work, walls and baseboards weren’t very clean. When I asked for 2 extra pillows the manager rolled his eyes. The dinner left a lot to be desired. Could hear pipes and noises from room above. After complaining about the conditions we were moved to another room that was not much better, the chairs in the sitting area both had tattered arms. No light above sink. I wouldn’t recommend this Lodge to anyone. New owners since March so I’m not sure where the rave reviews came from. The sitting rooms downstairs off the lobby were the only parts of the lodge that looked proper.

Upon arrival, several issues were immediately apparent:
•The room and common areas were unclean, poorly maintained, and had a strong unpleasant smell.
•Furniture and carpets were badly stained, and overall hygiene appeared neglected.
•Electrical appliances in the room appeared either unchecked or last tested over five years ago, according to the tags.
•The water from the taps was brown and discoloured, which raised serious hygiene concerns. The manager said it was because the water came from the mountains!
•The taps were poorly fitted, causing leaks and poor water pressure.
•The shower was nearly unusable, with extreme temperature swings between freezing cold and dangerously hot.
•Additionally, the manager was rarely present at reception, and when available, was unable to provide any useful information about the local area, which made our stay more difficult.

These conditions made for a very poor and unsafe experience — certainly not in line with the price paid or the hotel’s advertised standards. Had these issues been disclosed in advance, I would not have booked this property.

Do Not Flush Toilet Paper?

The view was wonderful, room clean, and bed comfortable. The place is a bit run down, which is not a big deal to us. But, there was no wifi and, more importantly, there was a sign in the bathroom saying DO NOT FLUSH TOILET PAPER and asking that it be placed in a specially-provided closed trash can.

Me and my friend booked this hotel for 3 nights to do exploring in the area! I booked a double economy room with no loch view at a very reasonable priec. When we arrived we were checked in by a very helpful and friendly member of staff who kimdly upgraded us at no extra cost to a loch view room with 2 double beds in it! Which was also a huge room! The room was out of this world, the views were to die for, the beds were so comfortable and we had a large tv. The room was clean with tea and coffee facilities. All of the staff at the hotel are super friendly and cannot do enough to help you. There are picnic benches outside the hotel to sit and enjoy the view. The only thing we felt was lacking was a bar area to sit at. We would definitely stay here again

This hotel stay was the worst experience I’ve ever had when staying at a hotel.
Arrived 1400 early to check in which was 1500. We walked into a smelly, dirty and miserable reception area which wasn’t manned and we found ourselves waiting awkwardly for staff. After the staff came we explained we were early and asked for a drink while we wait. However unlike the advert says there isn’t actually a bar or a lounge, we were taken through to the dining room to be served a beer and a bottle of cider which we had to request a bottle opener and a glass for. We were then ushered out and told we couldn’t check in for another hour.

Upon check in at 1500 we were again waiting for staff to appear, we were given the keys to our room, when we opened the door to our room we were greeted by the smell of damp and could clearly see mold all down the wall above the bed and in the bathroom. We tried to find staff to report this to but again they were nowhere to be seen. We left the place as we couldn’t sit in a damp room and went for a drink and a bite to eat elsewhere.

Upon returning we managed to see a member of staff so I requested a new room due to mold and damp, they tried telling me it wasn’t mold or damp rather than apologise. They were totally unhelpful. Eventually I received a new room on a corridor with a carpet that was covered in mold. The room was okay however a few things like handles and taps were broken. We left 6am the next morning.

This is an outrageously inadequate hotel. It is unwelcoming, with a pathetic bar, poor restaurant and unloved rooms with uncomfortable beds. At £175 a night it is an absolute joke. Oh, and no soda in the bathroom and then sink was blocked.

Needs updating

Hotel room v ropey, although views amazing. Cheap bedding and a very old bathroom with no shower attachment! No plug chain. O/f furnishings.
DownstIrs loos no soap or loo roll and mouldy floor/wall. V nice staff, but not enough of them. Other rooms looked better, so maybe we were unlucky but expensive for what we had, even though we were paying high season prices.

I was really disappointed in this hotel. When we walked in to check in, it was seriously creepy- no lights were on and no one was around, and the hallway leading to our room was giving the shining hotel vibes. There were crumpled up dirty towels in our room and garbage littered throughout. Lodge on the loch needs some serious updating.

One thing I did not like was the water kept changing from warm to freezing in the shower. Also was asked not to toss toilet paper down the toilet out in a waste can which I found very odd . Other than that it was fine .

An odd experience. Room was clean with a nice view, but lacked basics like extra pillows and maybe some biscuits. Service rather cold and minimal, not exactly welcoming. We were shown a restaurant menu but it looked poor and there was nobody else dining, so we went out for pizza. Nobody offered us breakfast. No outside lighting despite dark night. Nobody at checkout when we left next day, then exited the place into a cloud of toxic smoke: the staff were burning beds on the front lawn. What?!
I'm a Highlander and believe in Highland hospitality. It's clear to me that a lot of Highland hotels are getting bought up cheaply by people from outside the area who haven't a clue how to run them. Beware. Hospitable it was not.

We booked a cheaper room with a mountain view. Instead we received a wonderful view of the loch. It was a real highlight.

The hotel itself is very dated and has major retirement home vibes. That said, I enjoyed it a lot!

The bath was massive and had a button to start the jets… however it didn’t work which was a big disappointment.

By far the worst part was all the noise from the other rooms! You could hear word perfectly what other guests were talking about and the moment those above you woke up… so did you because of all the noise!

If you’re a heavy sleeper, then you’ll be fine and you’ll probably love the views!!!

Stunning view! Great place to relax! 5/5

Location: Google & iphone maps has the wrong location of the hotel. The receptionist even claims that mails by post were sent to the neighbouring houses (one is abandoned shed, the other is an apartment). Otherwise, the view is from our room is GREAT! We can see the lake and the mountains. 5/5!

Reception: We called the receptionist to guide our way, and he was friendly enough to assist us. The check-in was smooth and he was able to accommodate our request to place us in a ground floor since we have big luggages.

Hotel: The hotel is lovely! Cozy reception area. Two lounge for book reading with a view, another lounge with a couch and fireplace for drinking or chilling during the night. We did not avail breakfast but the restaurant looks nice and meal charged at £15 per person.

Room: HUGE! Worth the price! Clean and cozy. There is a big window from floor to ceiling so we can see the lake and the mountains. The bed is huge and comfy. The room is chilly at first since the heating was just turned on when we came. There are two la-z boy chairs where we can recline and relax. One double bed and single bed is in the room. It contains a private bath with towels, shampoo and body wash. Hot water works fine. Cr gets really chilly since there is no heating inside. No slippers were provided, and the floor is cold, it’s a good thing that we have slippers with us.

Overall: 5/5. Will definitely come back and request for the same room.

Not kid friendly at all.

I went on a trip with my 2 year old son and this hotel was not suitable at all. From the lack of any kids menu for dinner to the dirty looks looks from staff while my son was getting impatient waiting for food. When I went to book dinner I was asked if I would be bringing my son down with me (I certainly wasn't going to be leaving him in the room on his own). The room itself was large and comfortable and good value for money but definately not kid friendly.

Way over priced £170 for a night????

If you are happy with the bar closing at 9pm and you don’t mind children playing football in the reception and you don’t mind the dining room floor swept up from the night before.
Finally paying £170 per night for a couple then is ok for you.

We had a Loch View Bedroom and the view was stunning.
The room was big, clean, but very basic.
The bathroom was big and clean but appeared to have been refurbished by the local DIY hobbyist.
The foyer entrance looked like it hadn't been updated since the 1980's and the restaurant was the same.
Photos on the walls looked like they had been cut from a magazine in the 80's with typewritten (and yes I mean typewritten) by a child doing a school project. They were sticky taped to the frames (not even straight).
The Restaurant was basically pub grub (and I don't mean gastro-pub) even to the point that salt and pepper were in paper sachets. Fine for a local pub, not really the standard I would have expected in a quite expensive hotel (ie £160 per night).
This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in over a 2 week road trip around Scotland and was the worst by a long shot.
This is the first time I have ever written a negative review on anywhere I've stayed.
