It's a very popular hotel due to its location and low prices, attracting lots of young tourist. As a result, it's very noisy. There's basically no sound proof. I could hear excited neighbors chat and laugh loudly after midnight, prompting a call to the front desk. Other nights, I could hear a couple having sex, although it was quite short.. LOL

Helpful info on how to get to this hotel from Taipei main station: find a map and navigate to exit Z2. This will bring you up right in front of the building. Go to the front desk, they have a list sitting there that gives the floor number for hotel check in (5F) and which elevators to take (not all elevators go to all floors). If your room is near the back of the building, the back elevators are your best bet as they are rarely busy.

As for this hotel, my room was clean and the bed comfortable. There was nothing fancy about it, which was fine. I wanted affordable and convenient, which it achieved. Being so close to the Taipei Main Station was excellent not only for public transportation and the express airport train, but also because many of the day trip tours meet at a main station exit.

There are a lot of rooms packed together, so people were coming and going at all hours of the night. If you are a very light sleeper, bring earplugs.

The location was very convenient for us to get everywhere we wanted to go, close to the Taipei Main Station which really great.

I must admit I was a bit apprehensive when I first arrived: the building is old and the room is tiny, with no windows. However, after the initial shock, my stay was quite pleasant. The bed is decent, the room temperature was always comfortable, and the shower is good with plenty of hot water.

It’s modest accommodation, but it had everything I needed for a functional stay, as I really only went back there to sleep. The biggest highlight here is the location: simply perfect and close to everything. If you are young, on a budget, and don't mind the lack of frills, I highly recommend it!

Location extremely good, however no other good points. Room is smaller than expected, though enough space to open suitcases, but not much space to move. Only one chair which also blocked the way to closet. Toilet easily got stuck, none toiletry. Lift were already full at upper floors in the morning hours. Hair dryer is noisy but low heat wave, ladies with long hair should bring their own hair dryers. No hotel signage outside the bldg or in the lobby, need to ask the watchman to learn which floor the hotel located. Staff were helpful when needed.

While my check-in was excellent, the rest of my experience at the Mayer Inn was subpar. Granted the Inn has close access to the Taipei Main (transit) Station, the room could use some improvements. For one, the WI-Fi was poor, often cutting out. For another, the cable TV had spotty reception and the bed was very uncomfortable. Worst of all, I could never get the heater to work properly. As a a result, I was cold every night (six nights) and the bed only came with a flimsy comforter. On the other hand, housekeeping was pretty good, even though I didnt really need or ask to have the room cleanred. And the room was provided with two bottlesd of water each day. All in all, probably wouldnt stay here again, although the front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Oh and the elevators ARE slow - I only really had two of the (six?) elevators to reach my third floor. Sometimes I had to wait so long (because the elevator was full) that I was forced to go to a higher floor then take another to get down to my floor. Although it was no fault of the Mayer Inn, the elevator at T4 from the Main Station was inoperable my entire stay - making it more of a challenge to get to and from the hotel

Spacious enough for three queen size beds for three adults and luggage. Modern and clean, amenities were fine. Early check in was requested as we were a party of three seniors and they were able to accommodate us a few hours early, which we greatly appreciated. One tiny drawback was not being able to lower the thermostat just a little but overall was not a real problem. Great value and super convenient location.

Mayer Inn wins in terms of the convenience of it's location and pricing -- right in front of the MRT exit, linked to underground malls and a range of convenience stores, shops and restaurants within a few steps reach.

However, the experience with the staff there could leave more to be desired - they weren't friendly, often curt. The cleaning staff were more helpful and kinder than those at reception. The rooms also had very thin walls - you could hear laughing, talking, stomping or things dropping on the floors throughout the day and night, so long as your neighbours were in the room.
Taking the lift up to your rooms was quite a chore, as the hotel was part of a larger building which housed other offices, hotels etc. -- waiting for the lift just to go to your specific level could often take quite a few rounds.

The rooms were pretty pleasant and well-equipped, room maintenance and cleanliness was also done well. It was also sufficiently spacious to fit 3 pax + luggages.

The hotel provided free laundry and dryers, where you only had to pay for the detergent -- but the 3 dryers were pretty much useless - small, not the industrial type, so it couldn't dry clothes, only socks and small items. In the end, we had to walk to the nearest laundromat 10 mins away just to get our clothes dry. So we hope the hotel can consider changing their dryers to better ones.

Overall, the stay was just average - we would choose somewhere else next time.

There is no thermostat in the room so if you like it cool, this is perfect, otherwise, you may want to have a long sleeve shirt. I tend to get cold easily. The check in is on the fifth floor so you fo have to take an elevator up. May want to allow extra time for picking up luggage if you leave it there when you check out. Floor creaked in my room when I walked on it but otherwise room was v clean wifi worked well for me. It is so walkable to mrt from airport n high speed rail station.

Most uncomfortable beds. In this days and age when you can buy a bed in a box and be so comfortable it’s inexcusable to have mattresses like bricks.

The property did accommodate us with an extra blanket to sleep on top of us but the damage is done my back is messed up. I am not someone with back problems at all.

We even asked to upgrade to a more expensive room for a better bed but they said they were all the same.
Not worth the bargain deal at all.

The staff was nice. Location was very convenient.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room totally wasn't up to expectation for the price I paid for. Mosquito bites from first night to last night. Toilet have weird smell, carpet is very dirty, room is dusty, cigarettes smell when we open up the room door every day we are back.
The waiting time for the lift in the morning is super long.
Staff was still ok but the first day shock us as issued us wrong room.

Didn't like how hard the bed was. Was uncomfortable to sleep in. There was only 2 pillows and when I requested for 2 additional pillows, I was told by the concierge that there was a \"pillow shortage\" in the hotel and only 1 is free. An additional 1 would cost me 300 TWD. I have never experienced that in a hotel before. Especially when reporting how uncomfortable my sleep had been. So that was a red flag for me. It was only convenient because of the prices and that it was near the subway and Ximending area. An OK hotel in an amazing area. There were no instructions on how to use the ac so having to call down just to figure that out was troublesome as it wasnt something you could troubleshoot on your own. You literally had to point to the ceiling to adjust the temperature. Housekeeping was the best part of our experience there. Polite, thoughtful and very courteous.

The location is great as it is just opposite Taipei Main Station. IT is alos centrally located within walking distance of shops and convenience stores. Staff are helpful and responsive. The only major drawback is the hotel has only 2 lifts servicing the 21 floors and you potentially could end up waiting for quite awhile for lifts going up or down. We stayed on the 3rd floor and there were several occasions where the lifts were full and we had to wait for a long time.

Be wary. The Inn will be delighted to give you a windowless room. When we were insistent on a window, they gave us one that opened on the a/c heat exchangers. No cold water in the shower one morning, long checkout, “to high” pillows that they had no remedy for. The hotel is on the fifth floor of a 40+ story building, without a sign that says it’s there. (There’s on in the window of the convenience store next door, but who looks in convenience store for a hotel?) It has the virtue of being dark and mostly quiet; the staff tries to be helpfull. Wifi and a/c are good.

Perfect location for anyone coming to visit Taipei. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, particularly keeping in touch with the airport for me in regard to my lost luggage.

I only had a few points that could be improved. The shower area is not cleaned whilst staying in the room. This led to a build up of slime/algae, and the drain started to smell.
The washing and dryers are a good facility to have, however the washing machines do not drain/spin the clothes very well and the dryers take ages to dry. Note that dryer 2 does not work properly. The staff request you remain with your washing whilst it’s cleaning, however the whole process takes around 4 hours for the clothes to wash and fully dry.
The door threshold has a big gap (about 1 inch) at the bottom, a slight concern for privacy, noise and light coming through.

Again, I just want to highlight how lovey the staff were, especially in letting us check in early! Just a few points that are more for management.

The location is very convenient as it is across the street from the Taipei Main Station. From Taipei Main Station exiting through Zhongxiao W. Rd exit and you will see the Asia Plaza Building on the other side of the street. The hotel is in this building and the reception is on the 5th floor.
You can leave the luggage at the lobbies if arriving early or leaving for a few days and coming back to stay.
One discomfort is the air conditioning is a bit too cold and the temperature can’t be adjusted.
Overall, I am satisfied with the stay. It would be perfect if the AC temperature was up a bit.

The Mayer Inn is a well traveled hotel in that there is a lot of guests that come in/out frequently which was noticeable with the stack of check in forms at the desk.

The property is conveniently located across from the main metro station which also houses the bus station and high speed rail line. This is also a negative because there is always a lot of activity around the hotel and the atmosphere looks/feels dirty.

The floors of the building for the hotel need renovated. The carpeting and colors need to be refreshed. The walls between the rooms are very thin so can hear conversations, light switches being flicked on/off, shower running — the floors may have been office space renovated to hotel? The USB ports in the room by the bed didn’t work and the only other would sometimes flicker on/off.

The drain in the shower was also so slow draining had to keep turning the water off. Also, thought there was no hair dryer in the room since not in the bathroom under the sink — rather it was in the desk drawer not close to bathroom. The kettle in the room is convenient, but the plug only fits into the outlet in the bathroom. The bed was okay — maybe a thicker mattress pad for softness would have been nice. Also, most rooms are interior rooms so no windows — again was office space converted?

Overall, not sure I would recommend.

The rooms have been well used as in they need a renovation ASAP. The carpeting needs replaced, the USB charging stations need rewired (the one next to the bed doesn’t work). and the rooms need to be lighter in color especially when there is no window.

Interesting that the room has a kettle but the wall plug near the drink station does not fit the kettle plug — have to plug the kettle into the plug in the bathroom.

The bathroom has only a shower and the shower drain drains so slow you have to keep turning off the water to avoid overflow.

Overall, the property is convenient to the metro station. Not sure I would recommend to stay here since the rotation of guests is extensive and the check in time is late at 1700.

I have stayed here twice now and will again whenever in Taipei. It’s a super convenient location with an entrance to Taipei Main station right in front of the building. The building also connects directly to the metro mall during daytime.
The rooms are spacious and clean, and tv had all the channels including HBO and movie and news channels in English. There are laundry facilities which are free of charge and the only reason I don’t give all 5 stars is the dryers were pretty weak, taking a couple hours to get almost dry. The staff was very accommodating, They were able to check me in 3 1/2 hours early which was an unexpected blessing on a sweltering hot day. There’s a Louisa Coffee on the first floor and a Family Mart as well. Dozens of dining options nearby including street food outside the rear entrance. I didn’t drive but there is a parking garage in the basement too.

Great location, helpful staff, but restroom door was difficult to open and close, and access to the hotel is not convenient especially after business hours where access to the underground subway was closed and elevators inactive, which is inconvenient when you’re wheeling luggage upon late arrival or early departure.

The hotel can be accessed by the underground exit Z2 to Z4. So if you are travelling using the Taiwan main station, pls use these exits. It is really super convenient! The hot water in the bathroom is not very hot though. The hotel is converted from an office building and there are at least 2 other hotels in the same building. Be prepared that your room has no window.

The front desk is very helpful. The room is clean but, you can tell it's old. We stayed in 4 people room, 3 different layouts and 2 of them has one step at bathroom door which take time to adjust. It's a budget friendly hotel with the super convenient location. Next to main train station save us lots of time.

The location is excellent - short walk to Taipe train station, make it super convenient for exploring the city. The place is clean, comfortable, and exactly as describled. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the city.
