There was literally no staff support and self checkin forced me to pay a 2nd time to get the key. Staff never replied to messages. Difficult to find room. Sewage smell in bathroom. Just outdated and tired. Overall a very poor experience.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IT IS A NIGHTMARE. we arrived to find the hotel reception locked so tried calling the hotel and found none of the phone options including the managers number was not answering. After waiting for ten minutes a staff member came past promising to find a manager, after another ten monutes i had to go walk through the hotel to find the manager myself including walking through the public bar full of topless barmaids (no warning signage).
Found the manager. Given the hotel key i preceeded directly to the room to find a disgusting mould smelland water smell. Even after turning on the aircon and opening the doors we could not get rid of the smell. My partner then went back to try to find the manager (having to walk into the topless barmaid environment to find them).
The manager came out and agreed that the room smelt of mould and understood our decision. We cancelled on the spot without occuping the room and asked for a refund to just be refused and told i would have to ring on the Monday.
So we left had to rush to find alternative accomodation at more expense, why would i do this if it was satisfactory?
Followed them up on the Monday, took four phone calls to get someone on the phone to be told they would investigate and follow up me with a return phone call by 4pm. Of course no return phone call, so i called back again on the tuesday to be told the manager would call me back as he was refusing a refund. Do not stay here it is disgusting customer service.

The room was ok, but for the whole week we stayed there was no interaction with anyone. Self check-in via a hard to find kiosk & not a staff member in sight through the day. We stayed 6 nights & the room was serviced once. The meals at the attached hotel were overpriced & overcooked & the bar staff couldn’t rate customer service as one of their strong points. We were disappointed & won’t stay here again.

We booked a 1 bedroom double story apartment for 5 nights. The apartment was very good, with a full kitchen, and was part of a hotel/pub and was well located, close to the beachfront.
The only issue we had was when it rained (very heavily) the floor to ceiling windows had not been sealed properly, so quite a bit of water entered the ground floor lounge area. Staff provided towels for us to put on the floor, but it is obviously an ongoing issue for them.
Apart from that, we had a good stay, and the meals at the pub restaurants were very good. Location-wise there was a large cinema opposite the hotel, and plenty of varied dining options just around the corner.

Not allowing check-in an hour early wasn’t a big deal, but there’s only one bed prepared despite there being three people. To make matters worse, it rained last night, and I discovered my clothes were soaked. I double-checked the window and found it was closed properly, yet somehow the rain still got in!

The property is in poor condition. Wet carpet from leaking windows. Hole in wall in bathroom. Room was musty and damp. Gave two stars for cleanliness as bedding was clean.

Room was pleasant, with patio, but furnishings were showing signs of wear. The printed guest information kit was missing from the room and the internet connection did not work, possibly because the rooms are too far away from the modem, but the connection worked in other parts of the hotel, in the public areas.
There was mould in the shower and the ventilator in the bathroom was very dirty. Check-in on the Saturday did not go smoothly because there were no staff at reception. They were hard to contact even on the phone because they were busy with bar, bottle shop and other hotel customers. Hotel accommodation guests did not seem to be a priority. However, at other times during my stay the staff were obliging. Location and public areas of the hotel were good. This would be a nice hotel to stay at again if there is improvement in the condition and cleanliness of the room and the overall attention to detail and service.
There was mould in the shower and the ventilator in the bathroom was very dirty. Check-in on the Saturday did not go smoothly because there were no staff at reception. They were hard to contact even on the phone because they were busy with bar, bottle shop and other hotel customers. Hotel accommodation guests did not seem to be a priority. However, at other times during my stay the staff were obliging. Location and public areas of the hotel were good. This would be a nice hotel to stay at again if there is improvement in the condition and cleanliness of the room and the overall attention to detail and service.

No information on how to get your key to access the room as we were new to this hotel. Attempts to calls were unanswered but after 20 mins we got help from a lady on staff that actually wasn’t too sure herself but helped with gaining the Key via the screen pad on the door, which Wasn’t pointed out. Checking was very clunky, self service not working and saying room not ready. Tried at bar, then bottle store then back to bar. Finally got room, funky smell in room so not really pleasant. Went for meal at restaurant, ordered with QR code as directed $35 with an expected 44mm wait. 1 hour later followed up as to were my meal was and was told they couldn’t find me that I had gone and had ordered for table 1, I order for 29. Asked for meal to be delivered to my room as I had a meeting online. Meal arrived and was pork, gravy and salad. Would have been lovely if I hadn’t ordered chicken. Salad and mushroom gravy. Was over it by now. Then just to top it off the rubbish skip truck turned up at 1.30am to empty the skip right outside the room. I left at 5am and have cancelled my booking for myself and work mate for next week. I’ll find something else

Decent for the price. Didn’t expect much but the aircon in the room didn’t work properly and all the vents were ripped out. We also had tape over the lights? We also couldn’t order room service properly as our room wasn’t available to select but the friendly staff told us to just leave a note and they’ll bring it up. He said he would credit me for the first booking, that was for the 26th of May. Not receiving a confirmation for the June booking, that is my only issue.

I enjoy staying at the Waterloo Bay Hotel. I did find the self service check in a little confusing and not very personal. However, the room is so quiet, very comfortable and very good value. Every staff member I interacted with was extremely polite and pleasant too. I love the little patio outside the room and although it is close to the beer garden of the hotel we never hear any noise at all. Very enjoyable stay again.
