Hotel was in great location for Mount Royal and Museum of Fine Arts. A nice little boutique hotel with a decent cold continental breakfast. There is no parking option here except for valet.

Room was clean and bed was quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions to certain areas in town. Breakfast had something for everyone, even if it is something light to start the day.
My first night there it was raining and it was so enjoyable to sit and see the rain from my room window through the leaves. I was happy with my space and it was relatively quiet while I was there.
My only comment, is if you require an elevator to go up and downstairs, this may not be the location for you. You have to take the stairs to the third and fourth floor, and down to level 1 and the sauna and workout space.
Otherwise would 100% recommend a stay here. It’s a lovely, charming heritage space that I look forward to staying at again.

The hotel has a nice exterior aesthetic, but the hotel could do with some modernisation. No lift and steep stairs - so be mindful if you have large or heavy baggage. Rooms are comfortable enough (although no option to change the air con settings).

We arrived in the evening and got a really bad room, with paint peeling in areas, a bathroom not much bigger than on an airplane, and our window looked straight into another close by building with a view into somebody’s bathroom and loud TV at 3 AM. Very substandard accommodation and we were able to switch the next day, but the staff was a little bit put off by the request and there was a lot of miscommunication between the staff members. The new room was nice, although the air conditioning was super loud and not very strong. My other complaint was that the breakfast was only so so, and with the coffee being very weak and watery, croissants stale, and the staff of 1-2 people hidden in an area where they could not see much of the room and mostly talking to each other or scrolling on the phone. I had to ask them to refill the coffee one day and the next day I had to ask them to clear the tables as there were no clean tables in the entire breakfast area. I think the management needs pay more attention to this, because certainly they could be refilling coffee and maybe making a better breakfast. On the plus side, the cleaning staff was very nice, as well as most of the front desk people.

Rooms were clean & spacious. Initially we got put into the basement which was not clean and dungy. We were able to request a change of room and were move up to the 1st floor which was much brighter & cleaner with windows that opened for fresh air.

The breakfast was minimal- nothing hot but better than nothing.

The staff were lovely and accommodating and the location was ideal.

During our 1 week stay my wife sustained an injury at the front door of the hotel. She tripped over the raised threshold and fell headfirst onto the metal grate in the lobby; she injured her chest and cut her finger The receptionist responded immediately, bringing tissues and a first aid kit.
There are no signs on either side of the door to warn residents of a trip hazard;
the exterior upright of the threshold step is marked by black and yellow tape, but there is no tape on the interior upper surface, meaning there is absolutely nothing to warn someone leaving the building of a step down.
Staff requests for warning signs had been ignored.
I think that her accident was preventable with adequate signage, and that other guests are currently at risk. An internal staircase is risky for children and a fire hazard. Access to handrails on the external stairs was hampered by planters and canopy supports
Multiple problems in the breakfast room; Supplies of coffee, milk, teabags, food items and cutlery ran out, and were only replaced on request. Croissants and jam were poor quality.There was no decaf coffee despite asking. No highchairs available for children.The croissants and jam were of poor quality. Milk was sometimes served unchilled in an unwieldy cardboard container.
Our room had creaky floorboards faulty curtains and only one chair. There was no stopper in the hand wash basin. Paint was flaking off the shower cubicle ceiling.
So not child friendly and dangerous for seniors.

Overall had a nice stay. Staff were nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the location was good (just a short walk from a green line metro station and walkable to a lot of other places). Room was clean, but a bit outdated (the carpet was old and stained, which distracted from the cleanliness of the rest of the room and the tub floor made creaking noises when standing to shower). Free breakfast offerings were basic, but I chose not to eat since there are so many restaurant options in Montreal. The AC/heater system was somewhat loud, but I brought earplugs so it wasn’t too bad.

the hotel and our room were very cute, classic and clean and the coffee was really nice to have in the morning! we had a leak in the bathtub and once we notified front desk they fixed it right away. only drawback is the lack of noise insulation - you may get to know your neighbours' ringtone. overall enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Staff was excellent, very friendly. Room was in the basement and was freezing cold when I got in. Felt like the AC was on, turned the heat all the way to the end but took time to get it at a comfortable temp. Room was clean, bed really comfortable but water pressure in shower was pretty much non existent. Didn't make a fuss as building is over 100yrs old so it's to be expected. I knew there was no elevator but those stairs are very steep so you make sure you have everything with you before going out to explore for the day. Great area, bus stop and Metro near by, walking distance to the Bell Centre.

The hotel is superbly located, within walking distance of some of the finest department stores, restaurants and shops in Montreal, plus a stone’s throw away from Mount Royal. The property itself is charming, but the rooms are in dire need of an update. Not only is the furniture dated and the carpet worn-out, wrinkled and damaged, but some AC units - if you ever need them in this predominately cold city - are incredibly noisy and ancient. I’m pretty sure that the AC control unit in our room is a few weeks away from qualifying as an antique. The staff was friendly, but their hospitality is hampered by the fact that they only have one valet that they share with the more modern Sens Hotel across the street, which is owned by the same company. Overall, a relatively good value-for-money hotel, with some big pros (location!) and cons. Also, no elevator!

Breakfast was sad. Commercial pastries in a city renowned for its croissants and bagels. Although marketed as an historical hotel, it was standard with slightly larger rooms however with smaller bathrooms. It was a lovely spring day when we stayed there and after a day of shopping we would have B loved to enjoy a glass of wine in a patio. Instead we were told there is rumours of a patio but I have no idea. Sadly we had to retire to our room with a view of a wall. This property really needs to embrace its heritage and bring it forward. Until it does that it is just standard with a facade. It is a gem with no vision. Sad. Having said that it was as I would expect from any commercial hotel chain. It was clean the staff was outstanding and it was average.

The room we booked was not at all what we got. It was nice enough but we booked based on the photo for that room and we got a lesser version of what we wanted.

Staff were very new and not very knowledgeable and we were given incorrect information on the phone with the hotel prior to our arrival which made for a difficult check in process.

Overall it was an over promise and under deliver type of situation. A little disappointing for my birthday trip.

This property is not well maintained, peeling paint on the ceiling, a toilet that runs every 30 mins, a shower faucet that doesn’t work properly, no hot water on one night, furniture too big for a small room, chair in room was terribly uncomfortable, dated/worn furniture, carpets that need replacing, and just a general feeling of way past its prime. It is a very old building, some of the character it offers is nice; however, overall it is just in general need of a refresh. I had an “upgraded” room, it makes me very wary of what a standard room would be like.

The house is old and not fancy , the floor inside room connected with outside corrider , which you can feel while somebody is walking ,and the wall does not insulate very well , so you can hear any outside noise.

Every day same stuff , only ham slices, same cheese slices, orange juice watered down ,canned fruit, very very basic continental breakfast , valet parking a joke ,takes 30 minutes to collect the car,the rate on line was C$ 38 but charged C$40:, no elevator ,old old building small rooms,bathroom, thin walls ,noisy neighbors, old old smelly carpets, only plus 15 minutes walk to touristic area and art museum, directly located at very noisy even at night Sherbrooke Avenue, stay away from this outdated junk yard, survived 4 days at our anniversary ,contacted the hotel prior to arrival to see if they would give a decent quiet room, no answer given, with more than 40 hotel nights per year this is the first review where we give an honest opinion of such unfortunate stay g .mohr

This is a classic old boutique hotel. We had the suite with door right behind desk where you check in.
It had an entryway, living room with a pullout couch, bedroom with King size bed, walk in closet and a small bathroom. Place is full of antiques. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Cold ham, cold boiled eggs, cheese and bread. Great central location for shopping, partying or going to a hockey game. $38 a day for parking and 28 a day for our dog. I would stay here again in a heatbeat. Easy to walk everywhere. Close to Mount Royal Park. Sweet location

Incredible. The concierge service was extremely helpful and kind throughout our stay, and the valet service was top notch. The complementary breakfast was great, much better than your standard Holiday Inn in my opinion. And the rooms were clean, comfortable and well-maintained. I would gladly stay again on my next visit to Montréal!

Very nice. I will repeat. No elevator, so dont bring your whole house here. Location is very close to good food places, a lot of japanesse food. The road is in, leads you to one of the main parks. And is easily to navigate around the area. I didnt bring a car. I just uber everywhere. I was here for work.

Loved our surprise VIP upgrade to a room more than twice as expensive- we felt like kings in the beautiful suite with soaring plaster art ceiling, fireplace and amazing round window view with comfortable executive desk and king bed. Loved that there was an actual bathtub and not just shower. Staff incredibly helpful and generous with their time, easy going yet professional. Quick to reply to messages and very accommodating. I will stay here again- great location yet quiet!

This property is NOT accessible -- you must climb a decent set of stairs into the lobby and to get to any floors on the property. My brother walks with a cane so this was a significant problem for us. The room was clean, but in disrepair with peeling paint and caulking. I couldn't fill the bathtub without running out of hot water, which happened twice. Sound carried through the walls and ceiling at all hours. Staff were cheerful and as helpful as they could be, but it didn't make up for the building being the way it was. It needs significant upgrades. I will not be staying here again.

Breakfast: Included, free but incredibly poor. The milk container was sticky. The fruit bowl has obviously been reused across multiple days because the fruit had lost most of its color and was soggy. The cream cheese packets that were provided for the bagels were not the spreadable kind - but with the amount of time they appear to be left out for (i got there at 7:30am...), it was spreadable and room temp. Additionally, the yogurt was treated in a similar fashion - runny and warmer than it should.

Shower: The shower space, at least in my single bed room, was small. The shower curtain, if positioned on the inside as it should, will touch you as you shower, and if you move it to the outside, you will have a lot of water on the floor. The shower would progressively get hotter as you use it - and I take short showers (10 minutes), so you have to frequently readjust it.

Rooms: warm in April. The \"AC\" is a joke because you can't actually adjust your thermostat - it doesn't go lower than 72F (and it will not even stay at 72F). The windows in my room (but not all rooms apparently) was nailed shut. Fans are available by request, but there are not that many on the property. They have rule that is only disclosed verbally when you check-in (if the person checking you in remembers) that you have to mark your room as \"no service\" the night before in order for it to be respected. I placed mine at 10am (in front of staff) as I was leaving and came back to a room serviced.
