We had a wonderful stay at **Hotel Artorius in Rome**. The location is perfect—right in the charming Monti district and within walking distance of many major attractions like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. The neighborhood is full of great restaurants, cafes, and small shops, which made exploring the city very easy and enjoyable.

The hotel itself is very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our room was well maintained, and the bed was comfortable after long days of walking around Rome. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to give recommendations or assist with anything we needed.

Overall, it felt like a cozy and welcoming place to stay in the heart of Rome. I would definitely recommend Hotel Artorius to anyone visiting the city and would happily stay here again!

I loved that they used WhatsApp to communicate - especially when scheduling a taxi to the airport. The amenities were very good - updated bathroom, air conditioning!!, patio. We enjoyed our short one night stay at the Artorius hotel and really appreciated that the staff let us into our room early as we arrived very tired from our overnight flight. Our room had everything that we required and the terrace was lovely to sit on. The only downside to be aware of; the wifi was pretty much non existent. We would connect and try to use it but it kept disconnecting immediately.

While other rooms in the hotel Artorius might be ok, we have got Studio room in Annex Building. The entrance was behind the corner on Via dei Serpenti. The door led to a long corridor with another lock door and tiny courtyard with almost no sunlight since it was more like a well inside the building. The room window opened into this patio, not outside the building. After entering the room, I immediately mentioned humidity, musty smell, and luck of ventilation. No iron, no safety box. In my opinion this part of the building has never been a living space, but rather a ground floor storage, converted to “hotel rooms” by owners to maximize the profit. They apparently have no shame in setting up such a tourist trap. Ok, here comes my one star review as a payback.

Our 4 night stay was very disappointing.
The double room photo on both Expedia and the hotels own website is misleading. There is only one photograph of a double room and It clearly shows an outdoor seating area, one of the reasons we chose this hotel. Our room was on the front with a standard window. They told us that only 2/10 rooms actually had the outside seating. The hotel also does not post room size in sq.m. The photos posted made the room appear much more spacious than ours actually seemed.
The room itself was clean, recently renovated and comfortable enough except for the ( sagging) bed and the cramped space. The bathroom was good. There really are no amenities. There was a mini bar, but it was not fully stocked or maintained. Reception availability was part-time. The hotel does not provide breakfast, there is no coffee service and although there are many restaurants in the area, it is a several blocks to find coffee or breakfast in the morning. WiFi was a total disaster. We seldom had connection in our room, and regularly has to sit in the hotel stairway to have adequate connection.
Our one attempt to have the hotel book a taxi was met with both a lack of enthusiasm and lack of confidence that we would actually get one. The hotel was not able to provide information on nearby taxi stands, even though we found one a few blocks away on Nationale. Toiletries…bring your own..two small bottles for 4 nights. There are so many better choices that Artorius.

This was a hidden gem, beautifully situated and convenient to restaurants, the Colisseum, and more. Our room was next off a small courtyard on the first floor with a grape vine trellis roof (full of grapes), and a nice screened porch area just for us. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff went way over and above helping us with setting up transportation to and from airport/cruise ports, and giving directions. I recommend this hotel highly!

Highly recommend small, clean, well located hotel

The Artorius is perfectly located for the majority of sights in Rome and there were many, many, cafes and restaurants in the area. The rooms were spacious and had all amenities we required, we were able to get extra shower gel etc from reception with no fuss. The receptionists all spoke good English and were very helpful. Rooms were cleaned every day, beds made etc, shower was powerful and hot and the safe was an added bonus. The hairdryer wasn't the most powerful but I took my own in any case. The price was very reasonable and I really couldn't find anything to complain about, rather everything to recommend.

Excellent location for night strolling. Very close to the Colosseum which was an added bonus. Plenty or restaurants and stores near by. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel itself was very clean and uniquely beautiful. Room was clean, a little out dated but nothing major. Staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay again.

we had a great stay! it was in a quite area with great access to a grocery store, dining options, and public transportation. although an old property it was clean, the bed was great, the bathroom was nice, and everything worked. there was a bit of malfunction with a set of automatic doors but they were very attentive in easily resetting and getting us through.

Very friendly staff, super clean, and comfortable room. The hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood, close to the major attractions. We walked everywhere, and if tired, we took the bus. The bus stops are only a few minutes' walk away. There are very nice restaurants, cafés, minimarkets, and shops in the area. We definitely recommend it and we'll come back for our next trip to Rome!!!

Best location

You cant beat the location...you can literally see parts of the Colosseum from the doorsteps of the hotel. Lots of eateries around this neighborhood. Several mini marts to buy your drinks for the room. The room itself is basic and outdated BUT we were only in there long enough to shower and sleep .

Great location & value for money overall

Really nice hotel that was within walking distance to all main sites (colosseum 10 mins along one straight road, other main sites 15/20mins away).

Room was a decent size for a family of 4 and the elevator was a beautiful old one (one of the 1st in Rome).

Staff helpful and sent over list of nice food places etc.

Only negative was that we were charged a fee to check in ‘late’. We have in the past been charged to check out late but found the fact that we arrived at 10pm (having paid to sleep that night) a little unfair. We were told the fee was €30 and this was only mentioned to us via messenger after we had booked.

Not very welcoming and strict rules

Be aware that check out is a very early 10:00am (and hotel will send constant reminders/messages to check you’re leaving), there’s a €30 surcharge if you arrive after 8:00pm, there’s 5 keys - which is a real hassle, reception is not staffed all the time and the man hides in the dark behind closed swing doors. All in all, it was not very welcoming and a bit of a time warp.

Location is good though and it’s on a quiet residential street.

Got there and the staff was super nice and accommodating. However got to the room and heater was malfunctioning and cleaning staff left the window open in December. Room was 45 degrees and took still next morning to warm up. Spotty wifi when working and they dont offer breakfast buffet any longer like they advertised. Overall the stay was comfortable in the hotel. What I didn’t like is; there is an additional checking fee of 30 eur if you are arriving the hotel after 20:00, even the staff is at the hotel after 20:00. So if your flight is arriving late, be aware of this.

A very friendly staff and right in the middle of Rome’s tourist attraction. 1.5 miles/30 minutes walking to the Borghese Gallery, .8 miles/20 minutes walking to railway station, .5 miles/10 minutes walking to the Colosseum and 2.5 miles/1 hour walking to Vatican City. Lots of eating establishments close by and we would choose to stay here again.

Negatives: The rating on Expedia was Wonderful/Excellent. I would not say that based on our room. I’d say our room was maybe a FAIR at the highest. Our room was like a Motel 6 in the states. It was dark, gloomy, and in other building in the back of main hotel. We had no kettle until we asked for one. The AC was not consistent, had to get up to adjust in the middle of the night several time, but it did have a remote control. The bathroom shower flooded the bathroom so we used our towels to clean water up each time or spray to shower nozzle toward the opposite wall. For $260 a night, I felt it was not worth it compared to other hotels we could have stayed, but I went by the pictures and reviews. Maybe we just got an ugly bad room, maybe there are nicer rooms in the hotel. We did get clean towels each day, but bring your own soap & shampoo/conditioner. They only gave body liquid soap & 2 tiny bars of soap.
Positives: The staff was wonderful, especially Lorenzo. He was helpful with restaurants.The location is great, but we like to walk. Don’t waste money on the train, as it doesn’t go to entire city. Be careful, I was picked pocketed on the express train back to the airport when leaving. Take a CAB instead!

This is a beautiful small hotel. We loved the location, easy to walk to sites, cafes and shops. Carmen was a wonderful host and sent several great resturant recommendations. Our room was on the street side and it was noisy, but city noise is part of staying in the city. Make sure to check out the quaint courtyard on location. Clean and comfortable.
